23. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Having power points and class disscussions helped, especially when I was unable to read a specific chapter or reading. It helps you feel not left behind.
There's detailed notes that's taken everyday in class. It creates for a great class experiences because detailed notes usually means for detailed tests. All of the content of the assignments are given clearly and the teacher asks the students for clarification if needed.
The lectures were straight forward and well explained
I really enjoyed the way that Miss Matsumoto organized the lectures, and group discussion, it was highly encouraged. The material was a lot to take in but she made it easier to understand.
I like the part where we learned about the history during the 19th and 20th century.
overview of the readings lecture slideshows
The aspects I enjoyed the most was how interesting and understandable world history became just by the way she teaches it.
i like the teacher's interpretation style. very detail, clear, and smooth.
The history
The powerpoint reviews for each section and exam study guides have really helped me in learning the material. I also enjoyed the visual displays, like when we analyzed propaganda paintings/pictures and the videos.
I really like how she made the subject intere4sting by telling history as if it was a story instead of sticking to the book, which can get boring and often hardly understood. I also like the way she uses countries or certain groups of people and use it as if its a character in her story. Very interesting. Especially comparing countries to children during the WWI and WWII sections.
What I liked the best was Meikos lectures and class discussions. Her lectures were extremely informative and well organized. The class discussions made it easier to understand the material if you heard different ideas or perspectives from your classmates. It was also nice to see if you viewed things the same or not. In her lectures she added a nice touch by placing a visual aid to analyze which made it fun and interesting to learn about that certain topic. The picture always tied everything together giving us a visual understand of that praticular time in history. I appreciate that Meiko never made us feel like there was ever a wrong anwser. She always had a way to tie in our points with her discussion. And if we ever got stuck getting our point across she would jump in or encourage a classmate to pick up and elaborate on the topic. I never felt overwhelmed with homework, what ever she assigned us was manageable throughout the semester. I never expected to enjoy world history as much as I did. I believe it was because of lectures and the way she presented and spoke about it with enthusiasm it rubbed off on me.
She provided us with power points that we could review on our own time.
I liked the teacher.
I liked her enthusiasm about history, it made it interesting.
24. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I do not like writing papers, so the research project was my least favorite.
Class is early
The group discussions and use of visual aids. The openness of the class.
We were encouraged to read the entire pages of a book that had about 1000 pages and at the same time read other assigned essays and another book. These were too much reading for me for a short 3 1/2 months of time. Especially I had other class to do my homework and studying.
textbook reading
none
Exams
The textbook was hard to understand, particularly because of all the different dates and events that were new.
Lots and lots of notes, she hoards us with notes, and is often swiftly spoken. Slides go by really fast. Slides also have very little information on them. It seems like she is using it to remind her what she needs to talk about, rather than use it to give us information. Would be really helpful to put more information on them, especially since she puts the power points online.
I enjoyed this course and I couldn't honestly say anything that I liked the least. I'm sorry I can't help you improve any aspect of this course.
There was a lot of reading.
The place of lecture during the whole course of the semester was at times unbearable and very uncomfortable to sit in one place stationary for long periods of time; due to the fact that the thermostat was not in our control and it was below freezing. I felt I was in the Costco walk-in reefer for 3 hours.
Somethings were a bit beyond my research and writing capabilities, and the amount of reading detracts retaining information.
25. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Good course, good teacher.
It's a great course.
good
I would recommend taking History 152 from Miss Matsumoto because i found it really enjoyable throughout the semester and she wants us to understand the material.
I Rate this class not the best, but about average, with needed improvements. Some assignments are not clear enough.
I liked it, Ms. Matsumoto is easy to talk to and learn from!
This class was 10 out of 10. The material I learned has helped me understand more about current political/social events and why the world is how it is today.
excellent!
Interesting
Very informative and insightful course. I learned a lot about significant events in history and I enjoyed how Mieko presented this class not just from a historical context with a list of names and dates, but changed the perspective to why things were done and happened the way they did, and how lives were impacted through different events in history.
Very fun course. Especially since I was placed in a small class. Getting along with all the other students was fun and amusing. Working as a class was very productive.
My overall evaluation of this course if I had to rate it would be a 10 if 10 were the highest. I give it two thumbs up!
This course has a lot of information to cover in the time frame.
I have gained tremendous knowledge and insight of why humans may act and see things culturally different than my own culture.
Very interesting topics of history presented in different angles like stories, fiction and non-fiction, and the discussions backed up or clarified interpretation of the readings. my overall evaluation for me is a B-
26. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
The teacher doesn't know how to operate the electronics within the class, sometimes. The formations of the desk before and after class usually makes students late for their next classes.
n/a.
Mieko should organize more of the assignments by either making announcements or by listing with explanation on a hand-out sheet(s). There were not enough explanations and not enough samples on the assignments.
More videos please.
A possible improvement could be more in-class time, or library time, to work on the family history project. I understand how we had one day in the library to do some research, but I think if we had another day after our rough draft due date, it would help because there would be a greater emphasis on fixing the paper.
Slower spoken lectures. More notes on slides. Dress down, because it is very distracting lol :P
I couldn't tell you how to improve this course. But I will say that I am taking with me knowledge and a better understanding of our past which is our history that I never knew before and that is all I could every ask for.
A more pleasant environment,.......let say at least 70 degrees f no lower.
maybe keeping all the readings in the textbook with an occasional off text literature. More before-writing instructions and practice for the research projects and find out the writing skills of each student, maybe bringing everybody in the class up to your speed.

Thank you for a great semester
Really enjoyed this class! It was my first history class in years... thank you for making the material understandable and easier to comprehend.
Love the class!!!! and the Teacher!!!!
Thank you for a wonderful semester. I am grateful that I enrolled in your class and will recommend you to other students. You are a great teacher and you had a way of drawing me into what many would say including myself "history is so boring" but there truely wasn't anything boring or dull about it. It was very interesting and I'm just glad that you made it that way or else I probably would have been nodding off in class. But you had my undivided attention because of your lectures and choice of materials to lecture on. Thank you again. Take care and God Bless
Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!
Every student is different in skill levels and I think miss matsumoto know that and allows some time for completion in legitimate reasons, I hope.
