Ms. Russell is passionate, enthusiastic, intelligent and has a lot of talents to offer. She cares about her students as well as planting "seeds" in us to do our best.

The class was for the most part organized.

14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?

Just that this class should not be an online class but that has nothing to do with Amanda Russell

She needs to be accessible to answer questions and meet with her students. This was an online class and her availability was almost nothing and she was only available when it was least effective for her students.

Discussion postings could be improved. How? Well,um, sorry not sure.

Too much assignments, way too much work. This was a business tax class, not individual. It was unnecessary to cover individual tax stuff since we already completed that course, should focus more on business tax.

Grade the assignments faster

The only changes I'd recommend to Ms. Russell is to take on only as much as she can carry. She extends herself to those in need and at times she sacrifices herself.

She needs to at least on the due date of an assignment check her email at least once. There were numerous times I had a last minute problem and couldn't get ahold of her and she never got back to me for over a week.

I think it would have been helpful to have more Elluminate sessions. Respond to questions on the discussion board.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?

She made sure that if we had questions there were multiple ways to reach her and for the online class she had an online class like thing

Ms. Russell showed concern for students by making herself available outside of office hours as well as within regular office hours. She also encouraged us to work together and to think "outside of the box".

She helped us a little and sometimes answered our questions, but it takes her over a week.

Yes, even though her class is not easy she is always willing to help out

Yes. It makes you a stronger student. You have to prepare well and will learn the subject better.

I would absolutely recommend Ms. Russell to students as she has a lot of experiences and talents to share. She is an extraordinary individual an her spirit and energy is full of positivity. It's contagious!

One thing I'd like to add about Ms. Russell is directed to the Kapiolani Community College Administration. Specifically, please continue to support Ms. Russell in all her endeavors. She is a great teacher and inspires students to not settle for "mediocracy".

She needs to start grading homework assignments faster. I have probably 6 or 7 homework assignments and tax returns sitting in my assignment box that haven't even been looked at. How are we supposed to know where we stand with our grade?

she knows the material.

energetic and motivated. Very nice.

She know the course material and she encourages up to work out the problems and really think about the concepts that we need to apply. She really cares about students, but I can see where this course became slightly complicated in that it was as mix of those that took 134 and those that didn't and so the schedule was pushed off and worked through week to week.

She was very knowledgable with the subject she taught.

14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?

a little more organization would be great go over material more in depth.

Perhaps plan the course better. Since it was her first time professing, it is OK.

I would suggest in the future to truly utilize laulima or not to use it. And to stipulate what we can and shouldn't use it for. Homework assignments should be put up. So that students that can't make it to class can get the assignments without having to e-mail you.

I would love Ms. Russell to well organize her materials, testes, assignment, etc. I would love to see more example related to real life vs. example in the book. All assignments should be graded in timely. Students should have alternative choices whether submit assignments on Laulima or printing papers instead of doing both.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?

She made time outside of class to meet with us and she didn't just tell us to work it out but showed us step by step what we should be doing.

When you needed help she is there for the students. Responded to emails.

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

Yes, though the course this time around was a little jumbled and off schedule. I truly believe she did her utmost to ensure that we were learning all we could through this class, but that it is a hard sell when having to go through ACC 134 material to ensure that your class can perform the necessary problems.

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

She is a truly caring and inventive instructor. Let it not be said that she didn't give it her all and try to be fair to all those in her class to ensure that we call pass and gain and grasp the information that she gave us. Way to go!

She's a good teacher.

Hardest elective I ever took hahahahahah. I learned lots though! Now I know how to do my own taxes if I ever open up a small business.

I would have preferred that you utilize laulima to its fullest. I understand that e-mail can be hard to keep up with so perhaps we should have put our questions in laulima discussion boards so that other students could have assisted with some other questions.

it was easy to understand her. she explained all the topics thouroughly and was able to answer all the questions

Amanda Russel is the exelent teacher. She gives her time for student's studying by assigning a alot of quizzes and tests, and homework for students to help student acquiring the strong basic of Financial Accounting. She always help students to solve their problems in studying. For my self, She always try to listen my poor English to help my studying. I am highly admind Amanda Russel, my teacher, not only her knowlege but also her big heart for students. Thank you Mrs. Amanda Russell

she should tell us the answers first sometimes instead of working up from explanation, like mathematics where they have the problems and we work backwards sometimes

not to get mixed up with her numbers when explaining a problem

come to class more prepared; when she comes in at times she would shuffle through her stuff looking for her lecture. half the time she would be unsure about the problem she's trying to solve in front of the class and the answer would be different so she would refer back to her notes then think where she made a mistake. she knows accounting alright, she's just unprepared when she comes to class. since we only see each other once a week, she should have 'office hours' before and after class but at times she won't even stay after class and leave immediately because she 'has to go' and maybe she does but it would be nice if she could always stay after class

she was available outside of class, always answered emails

awesome teacher, without her i wouldn't have learned anything

although she did email us on the day she was gonna be absent, she did not find a substitute teacher so to not have that class is like missing out on 2-3 days worth of lecture since we only met once a week. on a different class day, she came in but only had us take the quiz and go home because she had the flu and was not feeling well enough to teach for the remainder of the class period. i understand ppl get sick but she should have had a substitute cover or why have us come to class just for the quiz, she should have just canceled class; what a waste of time and gas money. to not have lecture for 2 days is a lot of 'missing out' by students.

I strongly recommend her. She teaches accounting clearly even a student who failed accounting class before can pass the accounting class.
