13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| He cares for the students as people, which helped him to better connect with
the students. He also hands back exams faster than any professor I've ever
had. The great thing about his class is that the students always know where
they stand in the class. He also encourages hard work and perseverance,
which is essential to learning this material. |
| knows how to get everyone involved |
| He cared about attendance. |
| At first unclear emails, but listened to student feedback and adjusted accordingly. Always willing to hear students out, IF we arent too far behind. |
| Interesting guy and seemed to posses higher incidents of humor. |
| keep up the good work |
| I have not much to say |
| - the willingness to listen to students
- was able to understand some flaws as his first year teaching |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| Though he is understanding as a person, attendance is very important to him.
So important, in fact, that the students grades will be lowered, whether the
sickness is legitimate or not. This causes sick students to attend class and
make other students sick also. |
| none |
| He should make a better grading system (especially for tests) |
| Explain problems more clearly IF we dont understand them. Sometimes brushes questions off, if rushing. |
| Dont cram the last exam 2 weeks before the final |
| hw was do-able, groups of team was kind of useless, lecture is good, but preferably wants the professor to give us good short cuts in doing problems. likewise also long cuts too. |
| His class was a complete waste of time, i might as well just learned it
myself by reading the book. Numerous times, he was unable to solve his own
problems he gives us, and he had even by looking at the solution manual he
was unable to figure out why. During the later part of the course, he
started to just show the solution manual on the screen. He does NOT
lecture on how to do the problems, just shows us the answers on the screen
and makes us figure it out. Exams he lets us use the text book which is a
plus for me but overall not a great tool to let the students use. He
wonders why half the class has A's and 8 100%. The myth of having
community college classes be easier than the corresponding university
courses are unfortunately very true which is very sad to see. I feel his
way of teaching, if you even considered what was mentioned above teaching,
was very unsuccessful and frustrating. Next time I do plan to always take
courses at a university level, even if the class sizes are larger. At
least I will learn something. As for future advice to other students
taking this course, i would NOT recommend taking it here at KCC. |
| - didn't like the inflexibility of time. Especially on test days, should let the students start early (if he/she is ready). This inflexibility in time may be a factor in students' anxiety in taking tests |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| He cares about students when they look unhappy or tired or flustered. He
takes the time to ask them if they are doing okay, which I've actually never
seen a professor take the time to do. |
| always open to questions |
| he took attendance |
| Gave us life lessons on why we learn what we're learning |
| not sure |
| very good illustrations of the job force in the real life. |
| Shows no concern for students. |
| -had a lot of lectures and "coaching" |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes, he assigns a lot of homework, but all the work is beneficial. Having a
caring teacher is also something nice to experience for once. |
| yes good teacher |
| sure |
| Yes. good teacher |
| Yes and No. |
| yes |
| I would NOT recommend any students to take courses with Mohamad Aghili,
please read the previous comment. I feel any students will feel cheated with
there academic here at KCC. |
| -yes, in time i believe Mr. Aghili will become a fine professor |
|

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| I think it helped that we had a small class and that we were able to spend time going through problems and asking questions. I think that it was more helpful to go through problems than to just take notes about the concepts covered. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| none |
| Maybe just be more comfortable with that material so that the solutions don't necessarily come straight from the book. I felt that doing the problems would prepare me for an exam but if someone could memorize the solutions to the problems and rewrite them on an exam it didn't necessarily reflect their understanding of the material. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| He was available for office hours and was willing to answer students' questions during class for further clarification. |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes, while the course matter is difficult, I felt that the concepts were explained in a manner that made it easier to understand. We were able to go through problems and apply the concepts to know how and when to use the equations. |
|
|
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
