13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He made the powerpoint to each chaper and explain for us
Steven Young is an experienced accountant and a patient teacher. He did not mind putting additional effort to ensure students followed and understood the material.
knows subject extremely well
He is very good at giving resources and demonstrates examples well.
Mr Young has a firm grasp of the material and can easily explain concepts when asked to go into further detail. Also, its cool to see a teacher so familiar with the online element. There were no hiccups with the online portion of the class.
He speaks clearly and the content is easy to understand for me, a second language student. He always answers our questions seriously and he is full of responsibility.
Well understand about the subject area.
He's a good teacher and he's fair about grading.
He gets to the important point very fast and explanations are easy to understand.
Knowledge in accounting and strong ways to educate the class.
Experience, clarity, organization.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I suggest he can talk many sample for each chaper and teach how to do the question
Make sure everyone has signed up for Wiley plus
Nothing, accounting is just hard in general.
The coursework was fairly heavy but manageable, maybe instead of 4 homework assignments per week, you could assign 3? Also, sometimes wileyplus is a little bit stingy when it comes to scoring, even if you get the debits and credits for a problem correct, if you put it in the wrong order the entire problem comes up wrong. Maybe for big tests Mr Young could go through and give partial credit to answers that he sees are either mostly correct or on the right track.
the grading format
The way he teaches is great but go a little slower in explaining the chapters.
None that come to mind.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He did not concern me
Steven Young ensured everyone could attend classroom and online lectures. The online lecture recording were promptly available for students' convenience. Steven Young ensured every student could comfortably take midterm exams.
Making sure we understand
He emails students that are doing not so well and is flexible about taking exams. Making sure we can pass
Mr Young is very attentive to your performance in class, when you start slipping he's going to let you know.
He always ask students if we have questions or understand the content in class.
yes, we can send message to Mr. Young if we got troubles.
-- snipped --
By emailing he reminds students what to do.
By letting us know and giving us second chances.
Office hours and answering questions (i.e., email).

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
nothing
Steven Young is a very nice and humble person. He is passionate about accounting and strives to transfer his knowledge and experience to his students.
Mr. young says all these funny jokes sometimes, but people dont quite get it. To the point where he's the only one laughing by himself. The fact that he's the only one who gets it, is funny so we all laugh after. Mr. young is a cool man
Best wishes!
Thank you for the whole semester.
I would like to say that he's understanding and interacts with his students well.
Interesting person with lots of ACC and life experience. Stories keep the class fun and on the light side of things without getting too serious.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He's tough and this class is not easy. But Mr. Young would take three hours every Saturday to explain to us the chapter we were learning to make sure no one was left behind. And because he was tough I actually learned a lot about accounting, the way he teaches and has his course set up you are forced to really focus.
Extremely knowledgeable
His care for the students to pass
Easy to sit through his class. He knows the material and subject matter very well and is able to communicate effectively with all levels of students.
Communicating, teaching, and doing problem solving online for weekly chapters with students.
Mr. Young is very responsive if you have questions or concerns & he knows the content very well.
He knows the material very well. Using his experiences as examples sometimes makes can make student understand more.
He uses Blackboard to create a live classroom environment, and responds promptly to any emails with questions or concerns.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
No changes.
Dont use Wiley Plus the site is not the best atmosphere for learning. Its clunky, complicated and, clearly not designated with ease for the student. The book covers too much in too little time.
None
Use more written tests. Testing on the computer is difficult.
None
Better planning - lots of changing of dates/syllabus.
No changes.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Mr. Young would send out emails and during online class over Blackboard if we ever had questions. He would always responded quickly to emails.
Not applicable in my stuation but, I saw him trying to help students understand the subjects.
He reached out to me when I was doing poorly
Mr. Young answered my questions during class, and responded quickly to my questions on the homework.
Made allowances for retesting and submission of assignments after deadlines. Took the time outside of class to provide further explanation of concepts.
By responding back to emails, and letting students know their status.
Very responsive
He send email out for those students who is falling the exam and they can retake the exam for a better grade.
He showed concern for students by posting the weekly discussions on Laulima, so anyone who couldn't attend the live sessions could view it online.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Mr. Young's class is not an easy A let me tell you that. If the student really wants to learn about Accounting and be able to walk away knowing how to apply what is learned, then I highly recommend my. Young's class. But beware it's quite difficult.
Yes as a professor but, NO with the methodes that KCC uses. The book and website are useless.
Yes. Because he wants us to pass
Yes, Mr. Young was a good teacher. The class was very challenging but I learned a lot about accounting and began developing a good foundation based on the information he taught our class.
Highly recommended. Very good teacher!
Yes. I feel that Mr. Young is not here to babysit anyone. But if he knows that you are trying and feels that you know your stuff, he might reconsider or give you a chance. And that's a good thing.
Yes, he is strong in his accounting knowledge.
I would. If you want to learn and know deep detail about accounting you should take his class.
I would recommend him to other students because he puts time and effort to ensure that you learn something in his class.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Good communication with students on what is required of them. Made himself readily available outside of the lecture for questions.
Knows the subject. Has interesting stories related to topic
He knows the material and is experienced.
Very knowledgable about accounting and how to apply it in work and real life situations.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Although he was available via e-mail and text for questions. It would have been helpful if he had office hours where you could meet face to face. Some of the HW I was having problems with, was very extensive and hard to communicate through email.
More simpler exercises to help students that have difficulty understanding, succeed.
Probably changing up the format or making the slideshows more engaging. It is very hard to sit through 2.5 hours of a deep voice speaking about accounting and all you can look at is a slide full of words. Also, perhaps giving more time for assignments. Online classes are supposed to be flexible, however many times I would fall a little bit behind with the online sessions and consequently would turn in homework a few days over the due date and late assignments are penalized.
nothing
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
During lecture he would constantly ask the class if there was any questions. He would encourage participation and add class problems to discussions.
encouraged communication, gave opportunities to make up work
everything was good
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
I would recommend Mr. Young due to his clear knowledge and passions for his subject. I will admit it is not my favorite subject, but his enthusiasm helped me get through the class
yes, he is a good and dedicated teacher
Yes, if you need the flexibility of an online class. He covers all the content.
yes. good course.
Yes, I think he has a lot to provide for students looking to use accounting as a skill in business practices.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
He runs a tight schedule and you have to stay on track. With this particular class, if you fall behind you have to work really hard to catch up.
He is a fair teacher
Thanks
18. Other comments:
I only wish that we were given more time for Midterm 3. Especially Part 2. I was accustomed to having more time like the exams before it. I'm not even sure majority of my answers were submitted since I was cut off and redirected when the time ran out.
Thanks

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
experience in the Accounting field
knowledge on accounting
Knows the material very well.
He knows the subject really well and teaches every chapter in class.
Mr Young brings real-time experience to the accounting class, helping the students to understand better from a first hand view than from a textbook. He allows the students to work and think on their own while teaching the material.
helpful
Mr. Young engages in his students and ask them questions during class. Mr. Young is easy to reach if you send him and email or text him.
He gives good examples. He's also pretty funny.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
nothing much
Do more problems in class; it really helped me grasp what you were trying to teach us when you walked us through a problem.
Our accounting project seemed harder than another accounting class and we started it pretty late into the semester. If possible, the projects should be the same.
n/a

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
helped if needed
If we needed help, we could always contact him through email; he made that very clear throughout the semester.
He is personable when he is teaching and will further explain things if the class doesn't understand.
Keeps up with the students and attentive with who is and isn't in class. Emails students and responds promptly when students contact him.
he made sure that we were always paying attention
He engage in his students and ask questions so the students need to think for themselves. If someone do not understand he explains until they understand.

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes, overal he's a good teacher although the course was hard but that's just accounting.
Yes, he's an excellent teacher that really knows the material he's teaching.
Yes I would recommend him because he is knowledgable and is able to explain how to do the problems.
I would recommend Mr. Young to other students. As I mentioned previously, he has real-world experience that gives him a good perspective on the classes he teaches. Pushes students to work but also takes time to help when needed.
yes, good teacher
I would recommend Mr. Yong to other students. Mr. Young cares about his students and helps them getting a good grade by engaging in them and forces them to learn by explaining and repeating himself.
Sure! Why not?
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
he's a nice guy.
na
he helped me pass my two classes
Good teacher who changed in my eyes during this semester. In the beginning he seamed to be a bit confused but now he is a good teacher who cares about his students and engaging and caring about his student.

The accounting project is hard.
na
Maybe Mr. Young could have small meetings with every group leader during the semester so they could learn more about leading a team but this might be more of leadership then accounting.
Keep it up!

Not read everything from a slide. Not everyonecan read andleafn some are more hands on
He revises the class schedule all the time. It's hard to time organization especially if you are working.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Professor Young was extremely accessible and tried his best to work with me to ensure that I understood the topics. I really appreciated his efforts and sense of humor within the blackboard sessions.
He teaches in a way that makes it easy for students who have no idea what ACC 201 is about easy to understand.
He's very knowledgeable about the material and it really helps that he's speaking from experience.
He takes the time during online sessions to go over questions we have. If someone isn't understanding the material he will take time to review it.
He has a rich knowledge of the materials he taught and he is really easy to talk to.
He makes sure that his class knows the material placed among us. He goes through the lessons as clearly and at a good pace so that we understand Accounting well.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I would say the late penalties are very severe, 50% off if an assignment is late.
I really enjoyed the class through Blackboard and I wouldn't change anything about it.
Allowing more time on exams. Switching back and forth to the calculator to my screen and then having to scroll up and down to look at the figures at the beginning of a problem and back down again to where the questions are can take time. I would fall behind on those types of problems.
More effort to grab student's attention during the class. Make the class has more fun.
I feel that more problem exercises should be optional so that students could practice & take more time on the material.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He reached out when people were confused and offered to stay after sessions to further explain if someone needed the additional support.
He let us know our cumulative grade. He reschedule our online sessions to better fit those who have work.
He was always available for help if needed, even outside of class. He was always asking questions and making sure that everyone understood the material and encouraged us to ask him for help if needed.
He always took time to make sure we were grasping an equation or problem before moving on.
He always replies his e-mail/messages really fast to answer the student's questions. He provided a lot of different ways for us to bring up our grades.
Since this is an online course, Professor Young was especially accommodating to the busy schedules of the students. He took into consideration of what is do-able from what we learned.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
I would recommend with reservations. But alot of it has to do with the subject matter. It's a topic that is hard to understand and it takes alot of personal efforts and involvement to maintain a good grade and undestanding.
Yes. This would be my second time taking ACC 201. My first teacher was horrible at explaining and made things much more complicated than they need to be. Mr. Young made things easier to understand. I wish I took his class the first time.
Absolutely, he's excellent at explaining the material until you understand it.
Yes, he is very thourough and allows you to review the class recordings at a later date if you can not make it to the live class.
Yes, I would. He is one of the nicest professors I have ever met.
Yes. Because the pace of his class is perfect and the exams correlate to the homework.
I would, his class recording are always available and you can definitely ask him for extra help
Yes, the accounting class is a good course and he is a good online teacher.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
I just want to say that he is a very nice man who cares for his students and making sure they are following along.
Really great teacher, I just wish he could teach the rest of the classes that I need to get my accounting degree.
The class can be more fun. Some students really feel stressful about the course.
He's a great teacher that knows his subject very well. Accounting is usually a hard course to teach, but I feel he has prepared us very well.
18. Other comments:
This is the most difficult class I have had since logic. It is very time consuming and hard to memorize the many different equations. It would help if exams were not timed or you were able to use the text book. It makes sense because a real life bookkeeper or accountant would be able to refer to books if they had a question.
Perfect course to start learning accounting. Perfect professor to teach new students that have never known accounting before.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
ask students questions during the session to see if students know the materials
Every thing good
His lesson lecture is very clear and understandable.
He explains the course material in a way that everyone can understand it.
He clearly knows the subject material and in lectures, is make it easier for students to understand. He is also available outside of class if students have questions about homework, he is available by e-mail.
He knows the material and is very fast in responding.
If you take the initiative to talk to him about any problems you encountered, he's is understand for the most part and help you out in some way.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I think would be better if Prof could write on the session, picture is always better than words.
Every thing good
no changes
I can't think of any.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Every thing good
He help and answer any question his student have. He give student study guide before ever exam to study and be prepare.
He made sure to ask if there were any questions or if there was anything he needed to go over again that we needed help with.
He is available by e-mail, helps with homework, and is understanding and flexible if there are situations that make it so you may need extra time for assignments or exams (within reason) for personal reasons or if something is going on with Wiley Plus.
Replied to emails promptly. Answered questions in class.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Every thing good
Yes, he is a great professor who is caring for his student.
I recommend him because he is a helpful person.
Yes I would because he understands what he is teaching and takes his time in teaching the lessons.
I would recommend him as an instructor, however, I found the course itself to be difficult (which I don't think is the instructor's fault - I think the content is just difficult) so I would probably say if you think you can manage it, he is a good instructor to take the course from.
Yes. He is a great instructor who cares about teaching the material and breaking it down in an easy way.
Yes. He knows the subject matter well and responds to students emails promptly.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
He is a great teacher, always help students when needed. Would be better to understand the materials if he can give write and explain step by step
Every thing good
Mr. Young clearly knows what he is teaching, is able to provide examples to the class. He is also able to explain difficult concepts in a way that is much more understandable than the text.

He is readily there for students who are struggling in class... He is very helpful and understanding.
He is an awesome teacher. He knows the subject well and he make it easier to be understood with his classes. I didn't even need to open the book to study.
He has a good experience in his business history. so his teacging style is very hands on. Also, accounting knowledge and explanation were very nice.
Very knowledgable of the subject he is teaching. Very kind and caring teaching. He gives students a relaxing learning environment and he is very approachable.
He knows the concept of accounting. His teaching is clear and simple. He give us the appropriate amount of homework to help understand.
Mr. Young is funny, kind and giving.
Helping his students!
Great knowledge in the subject. Makes material easy to learn. Material will look difficult when done on our own, but when Mr. Young explains the material in a step by step process, it is very understandable and quite easy.
Good examples
his lectures and how he explains how to do certain things such as debit/credit.
He knows what he's talking about as he has real world experience in the subject matter.
Very knowledged in his subject.
He knew a lot about accounting
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
None so far.
I just wanted him to take more time on the chapters in the book, so that i could get a better grasp of what was going on, instead of trying to catch up.
To have more time(s) on complicated chapters...1-2 days= 3hrs and 30 mins is not enough to cover such chapter like 1. Inventory 2. Basic Concepts of Accounting Information Systems 3. Accounting for Receivable, just to name a few...
None.
There is no changes matter.
Make sure a section is covered in class before assigning homework for that section. While reading the materials prior to each in class section is suggested, the materials can be hard for some students to fully understand.
Maybe a few rules about class "etiquette" such as cellphones...
None, he was wonderful.
None
Have Students read the chapter, then you lecture, then give out homework. Sometimes it's hard to understand the material without having someone explain to you how it works. I know we can email you If we need help but emailing you after so many questions is such a hassle. Also try not to keep students pass class time because some of us have back to back classes.

Constant reminders and through emails he sent for test dates and exams, also he had online conferences if needed any additional help.
He was more then willing to help you in class, and even more outside of class. He was a great teacher and i wish i could take all my accounting courses with this teacher.

Offering assitance at all times.
He is 100% there outside of class to explain more in detail about accounting stuff.
Always trying to make sure we understood his class and also giving opportunity to the students to ask questions.
-- snipped --
After he explained a problem or introduced new or complicated materials, he always askd if students understood or had any questions.
He replied as soon as possible when students ask questions.
Yes, Mr. Young altered his grading criteria a bit, to accommodate some students...like me :(
Help them not only in class but in his free time as well as the students free time too.
He offered tutoring via email, chat, or in a face-to-face setting to students.
he encouraged students to be at every class, not only to help your grades, but helps you get prepared for future assignments, quiz's and exams.
He made himself available through many avenues and was always willing to go over things that students don't understand.
By informing students about their performance and give them a chance

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, he is a excellent teacher.
Yes, because he made me feel smart and lets you know everything thats going to happen in class except pop quizes.
Yes. Clear and great instructions.

I know that he's a nice man but please tried to include each and every strudents in the class's discussion, not just few Asian students. Personally, it makes me feel invisible.
Thank you for the time and dedication to the class.
Thank you for trying your best to make things understandable, but please figure a way to make this subject more understanding to the mathematically challenged students.
Thanks for your help this semester. Accounting became easier with you as the teacher.
Please continue current teaching style.
Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thank you very much for teaching. Accounting is not easy, but students can understand the concept of accounting...it will be very helpful in the future.
I am greatfull for having him as my teacher because there is no other teacher that I had that was as understanding and helpful and went out of his way to help me in class even though I still had a hard time.

With the limited times to cover an whole text book, I don't really need to spend more time learning plant assets, natural resources, and intangible assets. its not happening in most everyday business operation.

Steven Young gladly makes himself available outside of class, and he volunteers to give extra help to students in need. It's refresing and welcome. Many students certainly would have failed if he hadn't taken such an active interest in his students' success.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
he is a good teacher because he is so helpful. even we didnt have class on friday we did turtoring for us. also he helped us throught the mail too.
He was always willing to help students and tried hard to make students understand the materials.
His explanation was clear and easy to understand. He didn't waste any time for doing or chatting something unrelated to concepts of the course. He made time for us to answer questions from us and to improve effectiveness of contents on Power Point files that he made for every lecture so that we can see the concepts of each chapter clearly.
Major strenghts: Besides book knowledge, Mr. Young has a lot of practical knowledge. He has traveled to many places around the world, worked at big corporations and gain much insight. The concepts in the book apparently is crystal clear to him. Although he hasn't taught many classes, the content and the timing of the lecture were very excellent.
He taking the time to let us understand the materials. I have a easier time to understand the concept. If I have any questions he will answer and explain clearly. He helped me learned a lot in this course.
nice, patient, and kind-hearted
He is very knowledgable. His lecture is well-organized and he explan matericals very clearly.
He knows his material very well. He has many experiences and knowledges about the topic.
Stayed on schedule.
He knew all subject well and care about his student's understanding.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
-- snipped --
He is the best accounting professor that I've ever met! He doesn't need to change anything. Please, teach for a long time in KCC to improve the teaching quality of accounting course. KCC students needs you as a professor in every time. There are many students who failed and just give up majoring in account because they couldn't meet great professor like you. I feel sorry for them and sorry for my past. I am really hoping that I can learn from you again as much as many other ACC courses as well!
None. His way of teaching was excellent. I wish I have him for all of my accounting classes!
I hope he can make the class fun.
When he assigned homeworks, we did not have much time until the submission day.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He notified us the due date of assignment, date of quizzes & exams frequently. And he assigned many in class problems and after class homework problems so that we can understand how to solve the problems and concepts of each chapter and get ready for quizzes and exams. We'd never wasted any time to chat about unrelated stuff with this course or to be successful with this course! I was really happy about that.
He made sure if everyone was up to par. The accelerated course is vigorous and is easy for students to fall behind. But, he gave us a lot of quizzes and a lot of hw assignments so that we can be on track. If it weren't for that, I would be really behind. As for the first exam, many students didn't do well and he gave them opportunity for the students to take a make up exam.
If we have any questions he would answer until we understand the materials.
He helped students after class, respond to e-mail quickly, really concerned about students' feeling
His lecture is student-oriented and he did not move on the next topic until students understood what the material was about.
-- snipped --
Was willing to stay after class to help.
He cares about student. He always stay late for students who have questions. In class, he always asks: any questions? any? If you don't have any, we will move to next subject I think he is really care about us. and yet, he is always willing to help us.

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes, because he is so helpful. im kind week of english but he tried to understand and he tried to teach using easy words instead of difficult accounting terms.
Yes he was a lot better than my 201 teacher. Exams were a lot harder that you gotta not only know how to journalize and get right numbers and stuff, but also have to have a thorough understanding of the textbook contents. (for a lot of mutiple choice questions) I never did that in my previous class but was still good enough to score fine on the exams. So i feel like i learned a lot more and was able to get better understanding of what accounting is about, not just technically memorize how to journalize without real understanding what this is about.
Of course I will recommend him. You will see the reason after taking several more classes from KCC and also hearing what people saying about the courses and teaching quality of professors.. Professor Young is diligent and concerns about students' learning progress seriously. If you did hardwork, you will be successful by now. If you didn't get the result that you wanted, maybe you should have ask questions more when you stuck on something he was right there for you to help you..
Mr. Young is a nice, intelligent teacher. It's hard to find a teacher that possess these two qualities. He pretty much spent an extra hour or even two hours each day helping the students out. Out of all the classes I've taken, I feel that he is the best teacher. Yes, I recommend him to other students.
Yes, because he can help students to learn.
Yes. He is so good.
Certainly Yes. Since he used to work at the real world, he is very knowledgable especially in the accounting field. He is very good at explaining things and fair grader, too.

I would recommend him because he truly believes in the success of every student in class.
Yes, I will recommend Mr. Young to every students who need to take ACC 201 and 202.

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Thank you for teaching me so well! I really appreciate your great helps! Before I take this class from you, I thought that I can't even get a C or D grade from this course because everyone told me that taking this course is tough and after I take ACC 201, I started to give up my hope about meeting any great professor in accounting course.. But, now? I am studying for final exam to get an A grade from this course. Of course I did study a lot, but when I stuck on something, I knew that I can ask you and you will answer for me. That encouraged me a lot and your help improve my understanding. So, I think I can make this happen because of your help! Thank you so much!!
Mr. Young has allowed us to gain access of pdf files, provided the answer key for exams and quizzes, etc. Because of what he did, he has made learning fun. The problems from Wiley Plus is a valuable tool and should be used! He has put many problems so that we'd be geared up for the exam. It's hard for the students to be motivated in the subject and it requires the teacher's effort to help the students do well. Although Mr. Young is inexperienced in teaching, it seemed like he has been teaching for decades.
I like that he gives us some class examples in class, so if we have any questions he can answer it.

Would you please to be a professor of ACC 134 in this fall(2011) semester? This course's professor name appears still TBA. It's about individual income tax. I am sure that you will teach great. The contents of ACC 134 is impossible to understand without the professor who is accessible, who has experiences, who concerns about students and makes sure that students to have the understanding of the concepts and prepares them for exams. Students who registered ACC 134 desperately need his teaching!
Mr. Young, I really appreciate the effort and time you put in teaching this class to us. This class is definitely accelerated and is very challenging to the students, but most importantly for you. A teacher makes a deep impact in the students' lives. I know from my other friends that they didn't pursue math or music because of their teacher in high school/college. I want to say that I will strive to become an accountant. I already have the foundations and it will be easier for me to grasp the concepts for later courses. It motivates me to do well. Thank you!

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Responds promptly.
He is knowledge of accounting that he can teach the materials to us in the class.
Very nice and easy to approach.
He is knowledgable and has concern for his students. Willing to help them on his own time if needed tutoring.
He is always helpful and lets us have extra study sessions if we need them.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
-- snipped --
He can explain the content more clearly that we can understand the concept of the materials.
Maybe to put half homework and half practice problems on WileyPlus so can practice a little before attempting the graded homework.
His tests should be a little bit shorter. They are too long for the small amount of time we have to take them.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
His major strengths include always ready for class, knows the material very well, and is willing to help.
expertise, very knowledgeable, very experience in field, very helpful, fair, very accessible, communication
Mr. Young was a really nice person. If you needed help, you could always ask him for help. He's very sensible. He knows what he's talking about. If you would need advice about ACC, you could always go to him. Very reliable.
His ability to take time and spend time with student after class session to explain any complicated problems.
Major strength is that he encouraged us and was knowledgable, I liked him alot but sometimes he would read off the powerpoints which wasnt very helpful but did encourage questions.
He gave the students who were not doing so well in the class numerous chances to improve their grades.
He has real life experience in accounting, which makes it easier to understand certain parts of the course.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Well, being it was Mr. S. Young's first semester/year to teach the subject, I feel he did a pretty fine and excellent job. If there is any changes to be made, I feel Mr. Young more or less would know what changes he see's fit to change. He asked me personally and I gave him some suggestions already.
Some people like me learn by applying what's being taught to real life problems. He could possibly do more example problems during the lecture so we can get a hang on things.
none
I liked at the end when you gave us worksheets to do I think that helped alot to understand the powerpoints. More worksheets I liked writing out the problems. He also is a quite speaker sometimes he is hard to hear he needs to speak louder.
I suggest he do a little bit more problem solving in class rather than all lecture.
Spend more time on the first few chapters of the book they are the hardest and most critical to the course
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He would scheduele tutoring sessions in between classes.
He was very, very helpful and always gave of his time before and after class by having study/tutoring sessions. He also communicated to us often and continually and always offered to help in any way he can to help us with the subject matter and homework, etc. He would ask questions to us on how we felt we were doing as far as understanding the subject matter and how we were doing on the homework, etc.
He always willing to him. Before a test/quiz/exam he would tell the class to feel free to visit him or arrange a study session.
quick reply on email, after class sessions.
He really encouraged us to see him if we had problems and he would be in the computer lab before class and if you requested it in order to help you study.
He made himself available to go over questions. He arranged get togethers for those that needed more help.
He encouraged students to see him during his office hours and always was available to help students prepare for quizes and exams
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

Hes a great teacher.
I feel he is a great addition to the Business/Accounting Department. I took a chance on a new instructor and I'm glad I did. I am very grateful and fortunate. He brings a new light and perspective and new ideas to the subject and I feel within the department as a whole, too.
