| He knows his english and tries to get into the essays that are turned in by students. |
| Mr. Salvador was well organized. |
| Very willing to do what he can to help students and makes assignments very clear and gives

| He has an endearing love for English/writing. |
| His feed backs to our assignments really help me write better. Also his way of explaining a new lesson it understandable. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| Needs to grade papers in a more timely fashion. |
| N/A |
| To accept some late assignments but dock off some points. |
| N/A |
| The forum discussions were confusing for a first time person taking an online course. |
| To give first time students that never used Laulima for a on line class, a little more time to finish assignments. |
| grade assignments/forums quicker |
| Keep the students gradebook updated. I don't think its the students job to ask for their assignments and grades from the teacher. If we have a deadline to meet on turning in work, I think you should return graded work in a timely manner. |
| None |
| Easier access to group discussions- not to keep everything in the discussion forum |
| Just wish he gave the grades for assignments faster. |
| none |
| From what i understood this was his first year at the Kapiolani Community College campus and i think he did a great job for a first time. Do i think he should make any changes. NO. I think he is doing fine. |
| More examples on how to write essays and/or how to do a certain lesson. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| He showed concern by responding to all of my questions. |
| Understand what a student is going through |
| That her office hours were mentioned. |
| He made himself available to his students, and was sure to let them know when he IS available. |
| He could have posted deadlines sooner under assignments. |
| A student like me needs a little more attention. Like a e-mail from the teach saying to do my work be for its to late or just a little warning. I know it's college but we have a lot of things going on in our lives so it helps. |
| -- snipped -- |
| He doesn't. Unless you ask a question first. |
| He replies to my emails or answers my questions in the chat room. |
| Gave helpful advice in chat room and made sure everyone had ways to contact him |
| He would e-mail us and let us know if we had any questions. He always let us know when he was in the office. |
| If you had any questions he made sure to answer them promptly. |
| she always made her office available |
| A lot of times i had problems understanding the assignments and he really made time so that i could talk to him face to face so that he could better explain it to me so that i would do a good job. |
| When an assignment s returned he included his ideas to improve the assignment. Also he suggested things to push his students towards their interests / future career. |

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes, because he is fair and does a good job of explaining things. |
| Yes. Good teaching |
| Yes, because it's an online class and it may be convenient for students to just go on their computers instead of going to class. |
| I enjoyed being part of Mr. Salvador's class; I would definitely recommend his class to other students as well. As I previously stated, he knows his subject well and he knows how to teach it in ways we can understand. |
| Once I understood how the class was yes I would recommend him. |
| Yes he is a good teacher. He is very direct but its my first time on a online class, so I have no one to come pair him to? |
| yes, very knowledgeable |
| If you are the type to ask questions, then this class will be good for you. Personally, I rather just do my work by reading the instructions. So for me, This class wasn't exactly a walk in the park. The instructions aren't as clear as you would expect. |
| Yes, I would because his material is easy to follow. |

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| I think he is a pretty good teacher. |
| -- snipped -- |
| responds quickly in messages |
| I'm pretty sure you are a great writer with a college degree to back it up, but just because you're good at writing, and good at learning, doesn't equate to you being good at teaching. I know that Laulima and Oceanic Cable was part of the problem, but these aren't what makes your instructions unclear. I do think you are a good teacher, that is very passionate about english and writting, and I would take another class from you. |
| Thank you for teaching how to be a better writer and a critical thinker. |
| -- snipped -- |
| good |
| Because i am an online students i did not know what to expect. But after meeting him he was very nice and understanding. He took the time to talk to me and explain the course to me so that i would be able to understand it. |
| Well caring and concerned instructor. Fun and not too serious. |

| Your criticism can be harsh, but it's ok if the criticism is constructive. And the student understands the constructive qualities of your criticism. I didn't understand some of your criticism, which made the class slightly difficult to endure. |

| I hope i did good. I think i did to the best of my ability so hopefully i would get a good grade. Mr. Salvador may you and you're family have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Thank you for teaching me the ENG 100 course. I really learned a lot about the language. |

| - Knows the subject matter very well. |

14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| Dont set due dates and then change them. Just because your students did not compltete the tasks WELL BEFORE they were due does not meant that they do not care. |
| I would suggest that right from the beginning of the semester you set a date for when all of the
assignments are actually due. But I also liked having time to finish it all and submit them. |
| None. |
| N/A |
| If you don't want the due date of the assignments to be open, you should realize that students are
irresponsible and if you allow them to do their assignments by the end of the semester, they will
ALWAYS wait until the end of the semester. I know as a professor you have the right to change due
dates but I don't think that the way you did it, (assigning it to be open for the semester, then on
Oct.27 changing it to be due in one day, one week, then one week after that). I think that was very
short notice and unfair. |
| To make the assignments as detailed as possible. |
| None!!! |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| -- snipped -- |
| He was very quick to respond to questions and assist us in ensuring we were on the right path with
the work due. |
| He responds to emails promptly, and gives students a lot of time to finish assignments.
He is always there to answer questions. |
| - Was always available during scheduled office hours and sometimes held extra office hours. |

| Yes. Great teacher! |
| i'm not sure. |

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| She's patient, kind, and extremely helpful. |
| Professor Salvador's major strength is that he stays in close contact with his students. He is very encouraging and supportive and he seems to really care about his students. He tries to gently prod the student toward his/her potential. He has a nice soft teaching technique. |
| Mr. S provided an open communication pathway either via private messages or

| Very understanding. Very helpfull in answering questions in a timely manner. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| none this class was smooth. |
| None. For me, he was perfect. |
| I suggest facilitating discussions about the lectures. Asking a few
questions about it didn't really clarify what you wanted us to take from it.
A simple discussion post stating, "Read this, this, and this. Post here if
you have any questions," doesn't really open a pathway for that. Since it is
a public forum for the entire class, I believe unless a post was mandatory,
no one wanted to post that they didn't understand a lecture. |

|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| Mostly by being helpful in comments to assignments and allowing re submitting. |
| He made himself available. He held "office Hours" regularly and responded promptly to everyone. With me personally he took the time to encourage me to develop my ability in terms of writing. I was really surprised. |
| He always gave us updates on grading progress or times for his 'office hours'

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes. She is super cool. |
| Yes because he takes the time to reach each student. I think he would be especially good with students who find writing challenging. He leads but with a soft technique that would not intimidate a student who lacked confidence. |
| I would, if they wanted a professor that required you to do LOTS of
independent thinking. Maybe it's because this was my first online course of
this nature, but it does require lots of learning from a book, rather than a
professor. |
| definitely not, he was lenient on things being turned in but thats because he couldn't correct anything on time or within a reasonable one |
| yes. Because they can learn a lot from his class and exspecially the way he teaches in general. |
|
|
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| She seems to love what she does. |
| He is an excellent teacher for my style of learning. He and I had a lot of tech problems but that was because Laulima needs some improvements. He met those challenges and made allowances for the tech problems in his grading. I couldn't ask for more. |
| All in all, I thought Mr. S is an easy going person. I personally thought
his grading would be harsher, but after receiving my first paper back, I'll
admit I began to slack for the rest of them. I feel like I took an online
English course, but I'm still not comfortable with citing, and
bibliographies, or proper research methods. Maybe in the 200 level English
I'll feel more confident? |
| he needs more organization and structure |
| He is really easy to talk to and very patient with the student. |

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| He is willing to respond to students concerns. He is very passionate about
English. |
| Was knowledgeable and encouraged students to think about the readings. |
| He knew his stuff, not much teachers will know their material. He also gave
way for us to express ourselves through our writing. He even said that he was
learning each students writing styles. I thought that was awesome of him to
engage with us by taking the time to get to know us. Instead of just reading
papers and giving them grades. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| Try to be more physically available on chat. Don't make instructions too
wordy. |
| Allow a reasonable amount of time to do assignments. The course started off
really slowly, and then, three large papers were assigned in the last three
weeks, along with the expectations of additional readings. While the amount
of assignments are not unreasonable, the time in which the students are
allowed to complete them is very unreasonable, given that other classes are
also assigning end of the year papers as well. Finally, assignments were not
graded and returned in a reasonable manner. It is difficult to write papers
without having an indication of the requirements necessary to obtain a good
grade. Out of the nine papers assigned by the last week of instruction, only
three were returned. I would appreciate quicker feedback on assignments. |
| No changes. I like how the course was set up, though I wish I knew my grade.
I know I turned assignments in but is it A work, semi alright work or just
trash? I'd like to hope for the A. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| He responds to student's emails, questions, comments, concerns, etc. |
| After the tsunami disaster in Japan, the instructor was very accommodating to
students who may have been affected. |
| He interacted with us via email/laulima. He was open during chat hours, if
not we could always email him & he would return emails fairly promptly. |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes I would, his class works well with busy schedules. He knows English well
and the activities were very interesting and informative. |
| Yes, he's fun. He knows his assignments and he doesn't shy away from
different perspectives. |
|
|
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| He is very kind. |
| Overall seemed knowledgeable, but would appreciate quicker response and
return of assignments. Also, a better organized class syllabus of assignments
to make the course more balanced throughout the entire semester. |
| Awesome class! I truly enjoyed learning and reading stories I wouldn't have. |

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
|
| Class was fun and paper topics were interesting. |
| He knew the subjects he was teaching. Has a high understanding of the
material already and can input his own opinions into the lessons. |
| He is very knowledgable about the subject and is able to convey his knowledge to us to help our
learning. |
| his concern for students. |
| He's quite personable and easy to approach and talk to about anything. The readings he's had us do have been varied and he doesn't only use classic examples but more updated and interesting excerpts. I like the fact that he puts things that interest students into the lessons. At least they were interesting for me... |
| he goes on in to extension about giving examples
story telling
and describing a scene or a movie
human-like |
| He knew what he was talking about. |
|
|
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
|
| Nada |
| The long evaluation sheets were not needed maybe a page long is enough. |
| None at all. |
| make the class more fun, don't lecture so much, be more engaging. |
| Relax a little bit more, we don't bite. I wouldn't take anything personally either. |
| use the white board more and show movies instead of explaining them
be more organized |
| -Preparing a syllabus for the students at the beginning of the semester
-Better presentation of material |
| He was good. |
|
|
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| He was available for help when needed |
| Always reminded us about when due dates were and told us ahead of time what
we were going to do. Like we have an essay due dec 2 he would let us know 2
weeks ahead in advance to work on it. Also took us to the library when he
found out about new resources that would help us with our papers. |
| He gave us a card with assignments he didn't have for us so that we could bring them in to still get
points. |
| took the time to talk to us each about our essays |
| Consistently reminding us what his office hours are. He remembers individual assignments that you're working on. Offers extra credit with variety so not only a certain niche of interests gets piqued for the work. Asks questions and then waits for an answer. That's more than some of my other professors. |
| he doesnt care if you are late because he believes that each student is a "tuition paying adult" and is old enough to direct themselves
ask a questions |
| He showed us what missing assignments we had. |
|
|
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes. pretty chill teacher class isnt to hard. everything is explained well
and understandable. always there to help if needed. |
| Yes I would. Great English teacher, I had fun in his class and was able to do well thanks to his
teaching. |
| no..unless someone was good at writing essays the class just wasn't engaging |
| Definitely. He's fairly easy going, easy to understand, and takes the time to answer whatever questions you have. He tests the waters to see what the class knows as a whole and then moves on from there instead of plodding on with a lesson plan without regard for our general attention spans and knowledge. He also planned the papers so students that do their assignments on time won't be slammed at the end of the semester. |
| idk. yes if you like to hear chill lectures and write papers on your own.
not really if you need good guidance with your writings |
| No. He wasn't prepared for the semester at all |
| Yes. He's a very chill teacher that's easy to get along with and explains things thoroughly. |
|
|
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| Keep up the teaching. Your a good teacher and is very educated. Please share
your knowledge to the future students. |
| Thank you for a great semester! Enjoy your christmas break! |
| nice guy, uninteresting teacher |
| I think he's a nice person. Went out of his way to help a directionally challenged student. |

| Even though this is anno. I'd like to say thank you for the great semester.
my first year in college and thought english would be a pain in the ass but
really wasn't to tough. I could understand and im glad you were my teacher.
THank you again and good luck to you in the future. |
| Enjoy christmas break! |
| make learning more fun! |
| Wow, there's a lot of room to leave comments but I don't have a whole lot. Seriously, good teachers won't use up this much space. I think only crappy instructors will have all this space taken up for complaints. Normie is a good teacher, so space will be in abundance. :P |
