9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
If the course was taken in the spring or fall. A lot of info to get, and a short time to absorb.
can not
She did such a great job. Theirs not much that I noticed that she needs to improve on.
I think the course needs to be expanded to a full semester. It was really unrealistic to have to prepare a complete business plan in the span of basically one week. OMGosh that should take about 4 months. Use of Laulima was rather confusing, could be better organized with assignments so it was more clear what was due when. Pretty overwhelming, the amount of work that was assigned each week. That was tough. I would have rather had another in-class session.
Get us more involved in class activities but other that that this class was perfect
Have a physical class on thursday. It would be valuable to have the extra info that could be presented in an additional class.
she does a great job at teaching the course.
10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
It's relation to an artist's perspective.
discussions
I really liked the video aspects that she did in the classes. It was educational and interesting and was not boring.
The TED videos were really cool. Teacher knows her stuff. Could be a little more neutral about certain subjects that she expressed strong opinions about, encourage us to develop our own opinions instead of being so strongly opinionated about her own.
I loved the Ted channels because they opened up our minds about business and improved our knowledge.
The class discussion and detailed examination of subjects.
Learning how to market my own and start up my ow busines.
11. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Fantastic!!!
A+
That this is a great economics class for anyone that desires to take their passions to another level.
I think that this course, if the IHM plans to continue offering this course, needs to be given during a Fall or Spring semester. It is difficult for the professor and students to try and obtain this much information in only 5 weeks. Anne did her best to give us amazing information, but she can only do so much with such a short period of time. I encourage the program to have Anne Jenny teach this again. I also encourage the program to give the the course more time to understand and use the information provided. A summer course is too short.
Helpful, hands on, practical.
Perfecto!
Valuable for the IHM. It would be better if we could take more time to go through the course. Make it part of a normal semester.
AWESOME!!!!
12. Other comments:
I am not afraid of thinking about managing money.
It was a very enjoyable class and I learned a lot.
Good job miss
Hope this class can be offered again during the regular semester.

9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
At the beginning of the semester she told us this semester was going to be different because the book is describing a failed economy. So she decided to use other mediums to teach us and said the book will be more of a reinforcement. The syllabus tells us to read the assigned chapters and when, however, as we fell far behind the book reading assignments and seemed to not use it much at all, I stopped reading because I was ahead of the class. One day she mentioned the book and a chapter we were "supposed" to be on. That was 6 chapters past where I stopped and from that point on I was in catch up mode. The rest of the class was too and I'm one of the few, or only one, who went back to read the missed chapters. I agree that it describes a failed economy but it's valuable information and I think she should make sure we are reading it and guide us as to what we should be reading when we fall behind the syllabus. I take blame for this as well since I should have gotten clear about it. She also should do less question asking because the answers that were given back were often very simple and kept the class discussion at a simple level often. She needs to push the class a lot harder to come up with better answers.
I know that she didnt have a computer avaiable but it was fustrating at times when I was unsure about assignments
Jenny is the first teacher that does her course differently. She allows the class to open up for discussion. She really lets the students come out on what they feel. Its more of a personally aspect than by the books. I think she should take the time to teach a little more and not have an all class day of open discussion. We didnt really use the book much.
she did a fantastic job in teaching this course. she might want to open up her avaialablities to help the class/students when they need help.
10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked how she showed us some good, relative video clips. We did have good discussions in the second half of the semester and I liked her style of getting us involved, except that by letting some students give lame answer after lame answer it kind of dumbed down some of the classes. The project was fun (a 10 page paper, fun?!?!).
I like that we had in class discussions because I enjoyed hearing the opinions of my classmates.
I like how I got to hear different point of views of macroeconomics. That everyone is on the same page and that we face these trials everyday. Theres not one day not talking about an economic issue.
Class discussion, learning tools such as movies, slides, clips, and group work that helped students understand Economics and relate it to real world situations going on. Mrs. Jenny was enthusiastic and knowledgable.
i liked when we talked about something that i could understand. i honestly was not interested in economics before i took the class so i was completely lost most of the time. i tried to grasp the concept but most of the time i just couldn't.
11. My overall evaluation of this course is...
good. but she needs to use the text more and make sure she communicates with the class on where we are in the book.
I enjoyed the class be economics can be very complex and it being a braod subject it was hard to really grasp some of the concepts.
I really enjoyed this class. it was very different and creative in every way. She definitely knows her subject and encourage students to go to her because she allows you to open up and voice how you feel about the economy.
I was not looking forward to taking Economics before the semester but as the semester went on, because of this particular class, I started to understand Economics and Politics and actually ended up REALLY enjoying all the class discussions and knowledge I was learning about what is going on with our Economy. Now I am looking forward to ECON 130!
this course was a great course because i gained some knowledge about the economy that i should know because when i vote i have to make sure that i know who im voting for to make a good difference in the economy not bring our economy lower than it already is.
12. Other comments:
She's extremely nice and engaging. I'm going to have her again next semester. She's going to be a great professor now that she's gotten this semester under her belt.

great job jenny.

9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
There were a lot of knowledgable students in our class and she assumed we all knew what she was talking about since a few of the outspoken students did understand so a lot of times she didn't take the time to fully explain the details of something because she figured we already knew what she was talking about I guess.
It would have been great to have more class time to work on group projects.
Give study guides for tests!
Anne Jenny can improve the teaching of this course by becoming more personal with each individual student; By trying to make sure that each student understands the material.
Thats is a hard one, I really enjoyed the class. The midterm was a little confusing. Thats it.
More homework, to see if people are understanding the material. Maybe ask for weekly 1 page essays on a current economic problem or even some problems from the text.
None
She sometimes would speak about the news in the morning and that would be the lesson of that class. Well that is ECONOMIC 120
Have daily activities more organised, easier to read/understand syllabus.
Nothing she is doing a very great job =).
10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Her lectures and diagrams without them I would have been lost. On a regular basis she kept the communication open with her class-she would ask us if we understood everything or had any questions.
I liked doing our group projects.
I liked how she used different sources to teach the class, not just from the textbook which can be quite confusing at times.
I loved the group project, and the news article paper.
I really liked the class discussions the most. It was when majority of the class engaged in participation.
Group decisions and lectures were interesting and engaging. They were directly related to our reading, but made the subject clearer and more stimulating.
The class felt like a big discussion, which could also be distracting, but when it was focused and the students were interested it was really fun.
Mrs Anne Jenny not only base her explanations from the book, but also based it on real life application. She tries to encourage debate in class to reach a conclusion about a particular topic.
Group projects.

The group project we did.
11. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Economics is not for me. Mrs. Jenny made it enjoyable and kept me engaged and encouraged. I left class wanting learn & understand more. I found her to Always be approachable and helpful any time that I needed it as well as any student who felt the need to speak her.
that the teacher is very knowledgable and she is very understanding however she needs a power point or a handout to help better understand what she is wanting us to study for the test because she didnt really go by the book and it was hard to take notes in class because we had a lot of group discussions and she would get off on another topic when answering one question so I would get confused.
I would highly recommend it to anyone.
excellent class!
it was taught by a very enthusiastic and thoughtful teacher.
Really good.
The course is well organized, and our professor's enthusiasm about the subject makes it more interesting.
excellent.
It seemed like the teacher was somewhat unprepared to teach the course, as if it was suddenly dropped onto her plate at the last minute and she had to scramble to get a course planned
My overall thought was that i had no concerns of this class i really liked this class.
12. Other comments:
I hope to have Ms. Jenny in further classes. Mahalo

Have grades available for students to view throughout the course.
Giving more homework may help the class focus more on each chapter.
Keep her as a teacher!
Computer equipment in classroom needs technician maintainance.
maybe answer a students email once in while. i felt that it takes a bunch of emails to get back a response.
10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
lots of class discussion
Jenny made this course and its material interesting and exciting. I actually enjoyed coming to class and was able to change my attitude and feelings towards the subject of economics. She made the material so relateable to todays current events that it helped all of us to easily digest the material. I also enjoyed our daily disscussions and presentations. This course was designed for the students to get a better idea of economics on a macro scale.
I liked how the class was organized. And there wasnt a whole lot of tests but I still learned a lot.
I like the in class videos and the youtube videos. It help in explaining information to me.
Mrs Jenny made the subject easy to understand by giving real world examples and explanations in conjunction with the information from the textbook. She made economics interesting and easy to understand.
Projects
the learning atmosphere was easy. i didn't feel overwhelmed and i think i learned more from it.
11. My overall evaluation of this course is...
I would highly reccomend this teacher to anyone. Unfortunatly she will not be teaching this subject next semester. Her attitude and enthusiasm for the course makes you excited!
It was a great class because I got to learn a lot about the economy that I really didnt think of.
It is a good class.
I had previously taken the micro economics online but had difficulty understanding the book, the homework and had difficulty understanding the instructor. So I was not looking forward to this class. Anne Jenny has a delightful personality, knows the material and enjoys teaching. I have greatly enjoyed her class and was hoping to recommend her to my friends.
Good course
it's okay but it's hard not to talk about political topics.
12. Other comments:
Anne Jenny Rocks!!
i don't know, i think maybe she forgot me because perhaps she's busy. however how long is it reasonable to receive a grade from a first exam after my other classmates received their grades? a week, two, three, well it's almost been 1 month and i haven't heard anything back. i asked politely 3 times. i was told that she had to grade other papers that were more important. so i stopped asking. it's almost the end of the semester and i don't want to ruffle any feathers for fear what i might receive as a grade if i push it. i just don't know how well, i can approximate how many i got wrong and by the quizzes and essay that i'm probably doing good but i just wish i knew what i got on my exam. part of it is essay so it's my teacher's judgement on how well she think's i answer the question right. i just don't want to push it but i do think i have a right to know how i did after one long month of waiting. maybe it will turn out good. i hope!

9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Be better prepared and organized. Match worksheets with information from the text. Create more specific guidelines for presentations and require that highlights of the article be given instead of allowing students to read the article.
Organize your explanations beforehand.
Better follow up on assignments, timeliness with returning grades/assignments/feedback, and utilizing the class time better.
Although I liked doing the news article presentations, I feel that it took up too much time. I would just limit it to one a day. I also had ahard time with lecture material. There was not enough ofa structured lecture for me to effectivly take notes during class. Without the text and some of the handouts I would have had nothing to study from or to do the worksheets with. The lectures were really just disscussions on student questions/comments. I would like more informational lectures. The work-sheets were really hardto find the information for wichjust made it frustrating for me. I would have learned more with a more straitforward question and answer.
presentation was very interesting, but I think she need more lecture instead of presentation. it will help to more understand the economics.
Have homework assignments, or if no assignments have worksheets done in class to go over before the class ended so if anyone had additional questions, it could've been answered then.
Perhaps, less presentations and more explanation of the basics from the teacher. Explaining and breaking down the key concepts that majority of the students have a hard time understanding rather than sending home 7 pages of worksheets which only adds to the confusion. Break it down to us... don't make the students try to figure it out for themselves by researching online when we barely understand what it is we're looking up. Economics can be very frustrating and more examples could simplify. Hopefully this information will benefit future students who take this course.
I beleive that more worksheets can improve a portion of the class. Also, if there was more book work and review and discussion of each chapter in class that would also be a benefit.
To improve the teaching of this course, I think it would be nice to have a syllabus that is up-to-date when changes are being made. The syllabus should be clear and state when quizzes and exams will be taken. Also, the presentations should be limited to one presentation per student. I think having the students do two presentations took away precious time from better understanding concepts.
explain the material in a manner that get's other's interested and explain things much clearer. as well as answering any and all questions a student has.

10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Class discussions and quizzes.
I liked learning about supply and demand. I also enjoyed learning about fiscal policy.
Her insight and class discussions on issues that affect us daily.
I thought the excercise when we broke into small groups to analyse the newspresentations was great, but it took up a lot of time so I would not do it more than twice a semester.
gave us many examples.it was very interesting to know about whats going on the world economy.
Class discussion was encouraged, teacher made an effort to explain but just wasn't clear on many of the key concepts.
I very much admired all of the videos explaining alot of the concepts. Also the article presentations were a great way for us students to show that we are actually getting the idea of the subject.
I like the discussions and going over assignments as a class. It really gets the class involved.
nothing.
Learning about the economy, how it works and how it pertains to Hawai'i.
11. My overall evaluation of this course is...
If it is better prepared and organized, it would be an excellent course.
A. Could be slightly better, but it doesn't get much better than this.
An okay first semester. Very interesting content, but needs work in linking information together.
I was a fascinating class for me. I enjoyed much more than I thought I would (being a hard core science type of person) and the material, or maybe just the way it was presented, didn't go over my head nearly as much as i had anticipated.
This teacher was enthusiastic, animated and knowledgeable in the economic field, however, I found her classes to be confusing at times and the material seemed disorganized and very dry. She could improve in the future By explaining the terminology in the early stages of the coarse. Lectures were boring.
I thought that this course was good.
Overall, I think this class was awesome. Although some concepts were difficult to understand, having basic knowledge about economics can go a long way in outside of the classroom. Thank you!
i would not recommend the course.
Good.
