It gave me more science ideas for elementary students.

I feel this class taught me a lot about science and provided me with lots of great science activities and resources.

Superior understanding of bureacratic and administrative responsibilities in future profession, wide variety of activities to engage student attention gained.

I am majoring in elementary education and this course has definitely provided me with the knowledge and skills that are needed in this career. What I have noticed and experienced is that science is not too much of a focus in schools because of Hawaii State Assessments. This course has showed me the importance of teaching this subject to students. Science is needed for kids to explore their environment. Dr.Jones has taught a variety of lessons that I hope to bring into my own classroom in the future.

It taught me how important teaching science is for elementary students. Also it taught me a lot of hands on activities that I can use in the classroom.

Have all of the assignments up on Laulilma at the beginning of the semester and not add some here and there. It can get a little confusing sometimes when I cannot find an assignment link on Laulima.

There were lots of great activities and resources provided such as handouts and lessons.

He is a fun teacher and really knows his subject. You can tell he really cares about elementary students seeing science in the classroom.

Dr.Jones is a great instructor! He is a fun professor that made class really fun and enjoyable. Dr.Jones always made himself available to his students when help was needed, clarifications needed to be made, and he also responded in a timely manner to his emails. The experiments he had us do in class were fun and enjoyable. I liked that he provided the standards used to teach the lessons too! So he taught me that it is possible to have students meet the science standards in a variety of lessons.

Wonderful Professor with great knowledge!

he is an excellent professor and I wish I could take more of his classes. He is the kind of teacher I will strive to be as I enter the teaching field. Also, he knows of a lot of free resources for teachers.

We had a lot of interesting and good discussions during practicum that has benefitted me. The blogs also helped me think about what we were going to be talking about and it also gave me the opportunity to read how others felt about the issues.

21. Other comments:

This course was also taught by Dr. Myers. There was a strong sense of collaboration and give and take with regard to the focus of the class. Elements that one was responsible for were left to the management of that instructor which gave the students a better understanding of what was required. I still think the attendance policy is too harsh. Make it 2 absences. Particularly now that this is moving to block 3 students should have a much stronger working rapport with classmates and all presentation materials are disseminated via Web. A letter grade reduction for 1 day of missed class really hammers the students that face a crisis mid semester.

I have no suggestions for Richard Jones. He knows what he is doing because he has been doing it for most of his life. I love his attitude and the only thing that I would suggest is to carry on!

I do not have any suggestions because Professor Jones is already engaging, yet professional. He provides his students with the material for the class and goes over it with us so that we understand what we are doing.

There's is nothing that I can say to improve his teaching style because I appreciate his method of teaching and the methods that he provided me was straight easy to follow where I can do same thing also.

Maybe not so many worksheets, it kinda made me feel like I was in middle school again, but maybe its just me.

Dr. Jones is a very enthusiastic and also humorous teacher. Being in his course made me feel like I was in middle school again because of the activities, but the activities really helped my learning/understanding of the material.

He is a great professor with a great head on his shoulders. He knows how to get the point across to students and he makes the classroom an exciting place to learn. His class is one of my favorites this semester.

great teacher! i understood concepts well, very open to questions and understanding. presented material in an interesting way, and activities were fun yet educational.

Professor Jones was an excellent teacher who made this course enjoyable. i felt like he made an complicated subject easy to understand. I loved his sense of humor which helped make a positive learning environment.

He is a wonderful professor that students should take. He is engaging and does a lot of activities relatable to the class.

Great teacher. His work is fairly easy. He makes learning geology interesting. His worksheets are on point. I learned a lot from them.

Professor Jones was a very entertaining, layed back, professional all throughout the course. He made this course very interactive with the different activities he assigned throughout the course.

He is an awesome professor hands down. I will not hesitate to tell other students to take his class becuase they will learn a lot in his class. He has a positive attitude towards the students and his teachings. He has lots of energy and enthusiasm. He is hilarious and knows how to get the class in the mood. The hands on activities were excellent and the materials that he gave us really painted the picture for me about Earth Science.

The material of Geology was sometimes had to understand but i was able to understand it better because of the activities we did in class. i would recommend this class to others. Overall a great class.

This is a course students should take. It's fun and you learn a lot about the Earth that could really impact our future and the way we live.

good. Fairly easy, but at times difficult. I enjoyed this class.

I anticipated this course to be hard to understand, being that I tend to loose it in science. But Professor Jones made this course very interactive for the students and made things very clear for those who were lost in a topic. The different activities and worksheets he assigned to us made it very helpful in ways, where it was like a testing tool to help see if we understood what had just been taught.

The course was awesome. The assignments were easy to the follow. The Mastering Geology was easy to follow. The hands on activities were fun and awesome. The quiz were straight forward easy to follow.

Loved the class. Course was easy to understand, work wasn't piled onto us all at once which i liked.

I suggest that he use mastering geology more in the course becasue the book was expensive and we used the online material a couple of times mostly for tests and short chapter review. If he just incorporate more in each of the chapters he is teaching it would make the book and online material more useful and meaning.

It held me accountable for planning things out, as most online classes you will not be reminded by someone when things are due. However, when I didn need help with anything Dr. Jones was always willing to do so. This course does not really relate to my major but it has helped me become a better student none the less.

I would reccomend that some of the online material be explained a little more clearly. some things were worded a bit confusing in the curriculum.

that he is very knowledgable about this subject, and tries hard to help his students by making himself available.

He was very friendly and easy to talk to. At the beginning of the semester, I was fully expecting another nightmare like my previous online class (ICS 101), and since I was having a lot of trouble getting up-and-running, Professor Jones met with me and laid it all out in a simple way that eliminated all of my confusion and made the whole structure much easier to understand. Throughout the semester, he responded to my emails promptly with everything I needed to know, and he was able to meet with me if I had questions. He holds optional attendance class sessions on Mondays at 11AM (these are in the same classroom as my Monday 930AM class, so I see him enter as I am leaving), and he is always there early to start setting up while talking to my Geology teacher. Although I never went to these Monday sessions, I can imagine how helpful they were for students who were having trouble because I would have been so happy to be able to meet with my other online class teacher last semester to discuss the many problems I had with the curriculum. This semester, every week when I would submit my assignments, I can't think of a time when they weren't graded the next day. I am also happy that he offered extra credit at the end of the semester, because that really offset my lower grades from January. Overall, he was an excellent teacher!

that it is a good physical science course to take. It helps with shaping responsibility of the students since it is part hybrid where we have to turn in our own work and choose to go in and see the teacher.

Now that I think about it, this was a really well-structured course. The textbooks really went hand-in-hand with the online websites. Although it was very confusing at first to wrap my head around all of the different websites we had to use, it was really straightforward once I got into the routine. The midterm and final exams were time-consuming but still generally easy to complete (except when the answers were hard to find). I think that this was a really great course, and I hope if I take any more online classes they take advice from Professor Jones haha

Very helpful and flexible.

Dr. Jones provided us with so many cool science activities that we could use in the future. He was very engaging and taught us through hands-on demonstrations. Dr. Jones was patient and always willing to answer any questions we had. He provided us with science materials and resources if we needed them. Dr. Jones also showed us how we could connect the activities to the state standards and also how to differentiate instruction.

Dr. Jones is very approachable which provides a safe learning environment for everyone involved. He provides very positive feedback that focuses on your strong points in your work. It was challenging, fun, and interesting. I learned a lot.

I really enjoyed this course because it was engaging. In every class, we had the opportunity to work together on science activities. These activities really opened my eyes to different science concepts and all the possible ways they could be explored in an elementary school classroom. I also thought the Flinn Scientific Safety Course was very informative and convenient. I learned the importance of safety in the classroom, and after completing the course, I felt a lot more prepared.

This course has provided significant ideas and practices that I will use in the future. I have learned how teachers can make science very fun and interesting.

I think that it may need to include more information on different techniques to teaching science (i.e. how to use the textbooks, creating your own labs, using science projects, etc.)

Fantastic teacher. Always made class fun and made me look forward to class because he always had activities for each assignment making it easy to understand, comprehend, and remember.

He's such a great instructor. He's very interesting and makes class fun. I'm honestly not interested in science, but he made me like it a little. He also did a great job at making the work related to my major because he taught us some activities that we could do with our students also (majoring in Elementary Education).

Dr. Jones was a really fun professor. He is passionate about the material that he teaches and he makes it relate-able. There was a lot of encouragement to get outside and study the world around us. I think many other professors would not have the same approach.

Dr.Jones geology class was one of my favorite classes. Very easy going, helpful, and funny, he is a professor that anyone can approach. What I really liked is that he taught science in a very different way. Instead of giving us books and paperwork to struggle through and scratch our heads at, Dr. Jones gave us easy, almost child like experiments and examples that completely helped everyone understand earth science. I felt mind blown every time I realized how his simple methods of teaching enabled me to comprehend the complexity of chemical processes, meteorology,etc. If I could take his class again, I would. He is by far the best science teacher I've ever had.

This course is great. I learn a lot of science in this course, lessons that will help me in my career in the future.

This course provided excellent resources in teaching science through many fun and easy practical science experiments that were grade-level appropriate. I feel more confident as a teacher now in teaching this subject.

This class taught me that teaching science is not as difficult as I once thought, and with some creativity, it can be fun for students and instructors. Dr. Jones also taught me that science instruction can be very flexible and does not have to adhere to boring or rigid guidelines. Dr. Jones also taught me how to write the 5e lesson plan, which I really liked.

I really benefited from the mini activities that Dr. Jones had us do at the beginning of every class. He really motivated us to think outside the box and encouraged the use of resources in the community for us to use. He kept us budget conscious, while not sacrificing the activities in any way. He taught us tips and tricks on how to be a creative science instructor and gave us insights on the actual field politics. We now have an idea of how to play the game without sacrificing the students time.

There were a lot of hands on which I can use for the kids later in the future. He even required us to do a science safety certificate to get us ahead in the competition in our hunt for jobs.

Dr. Jones has a great teaching style. He does very well already. I enjoyed being in his class.

I feel that Dr. Jones was a great instructor and should not change his teaching styles, the only thing I would like to say is that the off focus tangents that a certain student kept going off on were so off subject and irrelevant to the class that the other students (including myself) were so bored that we began talking about other things with our neighbors. So to avoid this in the future, I would suggest not indulging similar students in their off topic tangents. Other than that, Dr. Jones was a very professional and well informed instructor that I wish taught more classes, which I could take.

the course was a little unorganized, we didn't know when assignments were due. maybe for the future you could come up with a pre-determined list of assignments the students will be doing throughout the semester so that they know exactly what is expected of them and when things are due. i felt like assignments were assigned randomly and because of this, it would've helped to maybe have reminders, i know you did this more towards the end of the course which helped a lot.

I thought Dr. Jones teaching style was really effective and had great methods to get us interested in what we were learning.

Tells it like it is, realistic, no "office jargon." He tells what we WANT to know, no sugarcoating "procedures."

Dr. Jones is my favorite teacher at West Oahu up until this point in the program. He is pleasant to be around and always made time for me if I had something to ask him. He returns e-mails so fast, it's scary. He keeps the class engaged with relevant lessons and assignments, and he uses humor effectively in his class discussions. He also gives more than enough time to complete his assignments.

This course really helped me understand the dynamics of weather and climate. I was somewhat aware of earth science and of this subject matter in general, but Meteorology 207 defined weather for me and illuminated concepts that I didn't even realize how unclear my understandings were of them.

Helped me to read a variety of diagrams and answer questions.

The details of this course were presented in a very informative manner. Professor made content easy to understand. Professor made my interest in meteorology more than it was before taking this course.

It could have been really interesting if we could have gone outside for some sort of weather activity. I think this course provides a great opportunity for hands-on activities and it could have just added to the course.

I feel that Dr. Jones utilizes all the tools at his disposal to teach the class in the best way possible. The capabilities afforded to him at the new campus will only further increase his arsenal of tools.

This practicum is 35 hours in a classroom observing and teaching a lesson. It is like on the job training which is really good to have.

I took this course as part of my elementary education major requirements. I definitely feel that I've gained a better understanding of science and how to teach it in my future elementary classroom. Dr. Jones was always willing to talk about our experiences and my practicum mentor teacher was great! I love how she always taught science and I definitely strive to be like her in the future!

Like I said earlier, I don't think that anything could be done to make this course better. Dr. Jones and the whole course 400D is wonderful the way it is!

Overall, this course was wonderful! I really enjoy working in the practicum setting and blogging about my experiences. I also like to read what my other classmates experience because it gives me a better overall view. Overall, it's a great class that gives you lots of experience in the actual classroom setting!

I took this course as part of my requirements for my elementary education major. I feel that I learned a whole lot about teaching science in the short time that I had this course. I actually got to experience various science activities from the perspective of a student. That helped me realize that I always need to try out my lessons before I teach them! After all, I never want to make a frustrating lesson for my future students! Overall, I definitely learned a lot and will apply what I learned to my future classroom.

This coarse was awesome. Dr. Jones did a great job conducting this class and made us prepared and ready for our own classrooms. This course offered many activities and approaches that can definitely be used in my future teachings.

This class helps show how science can be taught in a classroom.

In my personal development I have learned from this course what I need to do to become better organized and how developing my personal interests positively impact my professional development. I have also learned that when wanting to learn and being open to opportunity, becoming the effective teacher I want to become will only come with hard work and experience.

Dr. J, was a refreshing in his approach to science and in giving us examples - the beginning of each class on how we can easily bring science into the classroom. And honestly - it was not boring. It is something that i look forward to every Tuesday - because it is fun and i find that i learn a lot when things are fun. the activities are very engaging and totally AWESOME.

I don't think anything could be added to this course to help it improve. It's just great the way it is!

Nothing. Dr. Jones always surprised me with how many of his own personal resources he was willing to let us use. IF anything, he should be granted more funding since most activities we did required him to use his own personal money. He did that just so we were able to have the best possible education he could administer.

The only suggestion that I have is Dr. Jones should announce when we have discussions to complete and send out an e-mail notification. There were a few times this semester where I had no idea that a discussion was due because I don't constantly check the forums. However, I constantly check my e-mail so some kind of notification would definitely help improve this course.

The only change I would make is to have the electric car challenge due at an earlier time in the semester. It was very hard to concentrate on the final signature assignment and the electric car challenge at the end of the semester together because they were both due on the same day.

Grading criteria would help me know what areas i need to improve in.

Dr. Jones' teaching methods are awesome. He's fun, lively, and always in a great mood...which makes a welcoming and fun class environment. The only thing I would change is the fact that the list of assignments should be posted ahead of time. Also, sometimes he would give assignments we were unaware of because he would assign them out of class. It seemed as if we were playing hide and seek online just to make sure there wasn't any assignments that we missed and sometimes we did. There should be a consistent system to where all assignments and requirements are posted instead of having to search.

Overall, Dr. Jones is very knowledgeable about science! He definitely has a lot of experiences and knowledge that he shares with us. I find that kind of information very valuable because you don't get that kind of information from most textbooks. I'd much rather learn about the real life classroom and activities that I can use than read a boring theoretical textbook! Dr. Jones teaches science in a fun, hands-on way. He has inspired me to teach science in the same way in my future classroom!

Dr. Jones is an awesome teacher! His love of science truly shows in how he teaches his classes. I have enjoyed learning how to teach science to children from him!

One of my favorite professors by far. He presents the class to be a very "easy" class and his everyday class is all fun because of the various science activities that are presented every class. However I find this class very meaningful and the resources that are being provided are priceless. I recommend this professor to any student any day. The effort he makes to keep the importance of science intact in the curriculum is genuine and I enjoy all the resources he gives us (future teachers) and I don't think I've ever met another professor that was helpful as much as he.

Overall, this course is just wonderful! I gained a lot of resources from my peers and Dr. Jones himself. He truly has taught me that science can be fun and also taught in the classroom. Even if my future school does not stress science, I will do my best to teach it anyway! There are many different ways to teach science and if I have to, I'll integrate it with math and language arts! Dr. Jones taught me that it's okay to do that and I definitely am inspired to teach science, no matter what, in my future classroom.

Not too much homework so it's good for those who don't like homework but each class is full of activities and can get very busy. The amount of information that is dished out can be overwhelming but all of the material that is given out in class is for the students and they can read them later at their leisure. A few big assignments but more than enough time is given to complete them and the teacher is always readily available if help is needed

I thought this course fulfilled my requirements for my Elementary Education field. With the knowledge I learned about Geology and the all topics we covered I'm able to teach my future students about the Earth that surrounds us and how it functions and it's purpose.

This class has taught and enhance my awareness of the earth and how it affects our human lives and environment in the world we live in!

This course was very interesting for me. Mr. Jones taught Geology very open and explained it well. He was very helpful and I appreciated it very much. I have a hard time understanding situations like rocks, oceans, waves etc... he was patient in explaining the problem.

This course enhanced my personal and professional development in my major because when I will decide to use the materials I have learned in class towards the students I will be teaching.

I'm an English major so this course isn't a requirement for me, I took if because I'm just interested in Earth science.

I am majoring in elementary education. Dr Jones taught me how to make subject matters interesting and how to make students retain the information learnt.

It helped me learn about the environment and the nature wonders that are always around me.

I was required to take this course as part of my general education requirements, specifically physical science. Before taking this course, I only had a very basic understanding of earth science and did not have in-depth knowledge of the different earth science areas. But now that the course is over, I feel that I've gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for earth science. I have gained insight into astronomy, meteorology, geology, and oceanography. This new knowledge will definitely help me when I become an elementary teacher!

Class schedule. Creating a class schedule would have been a great tool for preparing for next class meetings.

I think Professor Jones did an amazing job with his teaching method and style to teach this course. His activities for hands on learning and cognitive thinking and not teaching straight directly from the text book made me better understand and able to learn the material that was being covered in the course much easier and simpler to comprehend.

This course needs no improvment it's perfect just the way it's set up.

I enjoyed the environment created by Dr. Jones througout the course. He is approachable and gives individual help for students when need. Overall he is helpful during class activities and even outside of class.

Nothing..... Mr. Jones is a respectable and knowledgeable teacher.

Many times I felt like Professor Jones was teaching to the four students in his class which he felt understood the information he was conveying. Otherwise, the rest of us were constantly reminded as a class that we were ignorant and that 3rd & 4th graders could do group activities faster than we can. While I enjoyed the group activities, I always felt that we were rushed in class to do them. Some students need more time to comprehend what they are learning than others. I did not appreciate the comments he would make about how some students could do activites in 10 mins. and others would take longer. Good teachers, teach to the many and not just the few. My suggetion would be to encourage those who need extra help, and understand that just because students learn at different rates does not mean they are ignorant. Be-littling the class because they are not proficent in math or comprehending the assignment does not help students strive to do better.

In the beginning of some assignments I was unclear what was expected and what we were learning. It did come all together at the end of the assignment.

I really enjoyed his non-traditional method of teaching. He didn't just lecture out of the book, which was great for me. I believe he gave us a "real life" understanding of how things affect our everyday lives; which in turn made it much more interesting to learn. He got us involved and I believe that was the key! Like I said earlier, I feel the overall pacing of the course was a bit off. We spent a lot of time on astronomy, meteorology, and geology. I absolutely loved this class because of Professor Jones's fun and enthusiastic personality and his fun activities. I don't think without his daily activities with every assignment I would've been able to grasp the material fully that was being covered it's like you didn't even need the text book and when you referred back to the text book you already knew exactly what they were talking about and how each topic we covered functioned and what it was. Great Professor and awesome class especially the yummy snacks we could eat with each activity we did.

Dr. Jones is very personable, helpful and overall excellent in both his methods of teaching and individual attention to students.

I would take several classes of his and recommend him to future classmates. He is why I enjoy college. Teachers like him.

Very animated individual who was able to interest us in the most uninteresting things (well, we may have thought they were uninteresting until he taught it). He's great, especially because he also discusses his personal experience with teaching science at different levels as well as learning from all different cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Jones is a really fantastic professor! He doesn't expect his students to memorize boring information like many professors. Good! I would reccomend it to others! As long as you're willing to do the work it is an understandable course with a reasonable workload.

Overall, this is a fantastic course! I don't recommend it to people who want a super deep understanding of one science area because we cover many different science areas in "earth science". However, if you want to get an idea of what each science is like, this is a truly fantastic course! I feel like I'm walking away with a wealth of knowledge and I am now prepared to teach these concepts to my future students!

The practicum let me see how math and science is being taught in a real classroom.

Practicum is an amazing learning experience. Being in the field and actually around the students and mentor teachers helps me tremendously. I also learned much from the reflections of my experiences in the course work.

This was the field experience component of block C. Students were placed into a K-3 classroom with a mentor teacher. The time spent in the classroom and the time spent interacting with peers and professors discussing what we experience in the classroom was very helpful for my professional development as an elementary ed. major.

I enjoyed the time I spent in Uka Elementary school with the kindergarten class

Helped me to do research on math and science curriculum that is available and how I would apply it when I become a teacher. It required us to investigate, research, and apply.

I would recommend to the students who take this course to keep a journal with them in practicum, this always helped me remember what happened. This was especially true during a hectic day. Not to mention that I could easily write down my fleeting thoughts and use them for reflection later.

Students should be expected to keep a journal of what they do in the classroom each day. This was a suggestion from my mentor teacher. She said that it would validate that we are observing and learning. It would also help the student when it comes time to write papers. There has to ba a balance there though because you don't want the student writing in their journals more than they are observing.

I wish one of the professors would've reminded us about the due dates for assignments. One of the students sent emails about the last two assignments and it was very helpful. It was hard to remember the assignments because they were never mentioned.

Please have one instructor having access to this course because I would have like to have seen the rest of my other classmates' blogs that are also in Block D instead of only 7 students. There is a lot of information lost and not shared with each other because of this class separation of blogs and course numbers. I really would have liked to hear what is happening in some of my classmates' practicum setting and how I would have dealt with it. I would also like to have a resource center where we could all upload our lesson plans to one another and collect resources that we could use in our future classrooms.

Dr. Jones seems organized in his own way because he's always prepared, but from a student's perspective it seems unorganized. Having a schedule would be helpful so I know what to expect. And sometimes I had points marked off my assignment for criteria that were not listed. I would like criteria to be clearly stated so I know exactly how to do it.

Dr. Jones' class is never boring. He always made class fun and engaging.

Dr. Jones is a great teacher. He knows how to get students to become engaged. I enjoyed the labs that we did in class. They were very helpful and fun at the same time.

Dr. Jones is funny and intelligent. Most of our assignments are enjoyable especially because I can have my family involved in it. I don't like how the weekly summary and weekly documents are in two separate folders. Can you combine them into one folder (ex: week 1, week 2,...) and have summary and documents in the corresponding folder?

Dr Jones is a wonderful teacher that approaches teaching in his own unique way. He always praises the positives and can discuss improvements without making the student feel bad. He has had experience with many levels of education and that helps him to advise any student teacher on ways to address difficulties in the classroom.

Dr. Jones is a fun guy. He is a good understanding professor. I have fun talking with Dr. Jones and I feel very comfortable with him. I LIKE HIS STYLE. I WISH WE HAD MORE TEACHERS LIKE HIM. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE SOMEONE RELATE TO US AND ACTUALLY WORK WITH US TO IMPROVE UPON OUR TEACHING AS WELL AS INTRODUCE US TO THE TOPICS AND IDEAS WE SHOULD HAVE LEARNED IN PREVIOUS SEMESTERS.

I think Dr. Jones has a good way of teaching already. It's just adjusting to West Oahu's curriculum. Overall though he did a good job.

I took this course as part of the requirements for the Elementary Education program. Science Methods truly enhanced my understanding of teaching science to children and made me realize that science is perhaps the most fun subject I will ever teach in my classroom. I will take what I learned here and apply it in my future elementary teaching career. Before, I thought that science wasn't very important and was quite boring actually. But Dr. Jones made me realize that science is fun and I truly enjoyed myself in class. He inspired me to teach science as much as possible in my future classroom.

This course showed me great science lessons that I can use in my future classroom. I learned a lot about how to make science fun and interesting for kids!

I learned about a variety of science activities that could be used for elementary students. I also learned about concepts, why and how things work, and how to use books to relate them to science.

I learned many engaging science hooks to motivate students to get excited about science.

This course has given me many innovative ideas that I can use to teach students. His experiments were educational and also fun. I look forward to teaching students many of the concepts I have learned from this course.

I thought that everything about the course was great. However, I believe that perhaps actually getting a different book would be highly beneficial. After all, we rarely used the book that was forced upon us because Dr. Jones did not find it helpful at all.

Great activities! I learned a lot from watching Dr. Jones do an ice breaker science activity each class. He also provided us with handouts on each of the activities that we can use in the future.

It would have been nice to cover more areas of science instead of focusing on rocks for three-four weeks. Working on a particular subject for a long time may get boring and lose interest quickly.

Because Dr. Jones was a new instructor this semester, he was not able to pick out his own text book. A different text next semester would be nice, however, the resources that we used during the course was very engaging.

I liked Prof. Jones class the way it is, but he said he is going to create his own book for class. To have a book that your professor makes, that to me is great and I am waiting for Block D to see what he has in store for us.

I think the only suggestion I have to make is that I wish Dr. Jones was a bit more organized. Sometimes, his thoughts were all over the place and I didn't know what was due during the next class period. For example, we had an online discussion and honestly, I had no idea that we even had one. Perhaps Dr. Jones could have emphasized it and made it clearer because quite a few of the students in our class missed it and/or did it late. Overall, my major suggestion is just more clarity. I would like perhaps a more specific schedule that tells us exactly when things are due so I do not miss an assignment in the future again.

Please be clearer in assignments as there are many questions that needs to be clarified. Should have used the textbook more as we were required to purchase the textbook and have not used it at all. Please specify if Laulima will be in usage as there was an assignment where many of us did not get the message that there was an assignment due. Please have assignments stated and ready to go at the beginning of the semester so the students are aware of what is asked of them, especially when they are taking more than one class so they may plan their study time efficiently.

I enjoyed his inquiry based instruction and I hope to use that in my future lessons. I hope he is able to utilize Laulima more in the upcoming semesters.

Overall, Dr. Jones is a very awesome professor. He tries his best to answer all questions and if he doesn't know the answer, he will do his best to find out for us. He also does a lot of hands-on activities and I truly enjoy myself during them. He is one of the few EDEE professors who teaches in this manner and I really like the change. After all, if you are going to tell me that teaching in a hands-on manner is good, then I would respect you more if you actually practiced what you preached. Dr. Jones does just that and I highly respect him for it. :) Overall, he's a great professor for his first semester and I believe once he gets things set up like a schedule and gets to choose his own books/assignments, he will be a very effective professor.

He was a funny and enthusiastic Science professor. Science really came alive for me with him because typically I am bored with upper level science, but since we are doing fun science activities it is a blast. He presented everything in a captivating manner. So thankful we have him at UHWO!

Dr. Jones is a very knowledgeable instructor. I believe his experience has given him a wealth of information to share. Not only is he intelligent, he is also a caring individual. Overall, I learned so much from this course about science and I definitely would love to teach it in my future classroom now. I really enjoyed all the demonstrations to engage students and get them excited about Science. I am thankful for all the resources he offered us after we did the experiments, lesson, and activities. My favorite project was the science challenge center. It was a real treat to see everyone's creativity flow and in turn get some ideas for our own classroom. I felt at ease with this course because in Science there aren't many mistakes one can make.

This course has taught me many new concepts and procedures that I will use in my teaching. The experiments were exciting and Dr. Jones always explained the concepts related to these experiments. This was a great course because of Dr. Jones' knowledge and experience.

I didn't care for the text so I didn't purchase it. I didn't feel it would help me to teach Science to children. Our professor didn't seem to think so either so I'm glad for that! Perhaps a more engaging text next semester?

I LIKE THE COURSE AND HIM. I KNOW HE HAS THINGS HE WANTS TO CHANGE LIKE LESSON PLAN FORMATS AND I AGREE WITH HIM.

I really like his teaching style. He knows as a student that we know what to consider that is important in our learning and he lets us reflect upon things we want to reflect upon. He doesn't ask for much from which which puts less stress on us yet he gives the opportunity to exceed in our work. He needs to organize our completed work better so that we are able to see what grade we are getting and if we had completed our work.

I think sometimes he needs to have more instructions for the students to go off of when doing certain assignments. Other than that he is a great teacher!

One suggestion I would make would be to go over how to teach science to older students. Like some of my classmates, science is not my strongest subject, so any tips would be helpful.

Nothing the labs and materials covered in class every week were relevant to what we were learning about. It gave me ideas of how to teach Science in grades 4-6.

BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE HAD IN A LONG LONG TIME.

He is a very good professor. Easy to talk to and he understands his students. He is very humorous in class and gives us a lot of freedom to learn. He provides us a lot of handouts and tools that we can take to our student teaching.

Richard was probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. He was engaging and I could tell he loves science. I thought his class was always up beat and educational. He teaches in a way that makes science fun not only for his students but for himself. I learned a lot from him and I hope one day I can give back to students like he has.

He knows his content really well and I feel he still has a connection to the elementary classroom so he understands what we are actually doing in the classroom.
