2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
|
| This course has helped broaden my understanding of the Pacific. This is of pertinent value to my major, which is Hawaiian history. |
| It enhanced my knowledge deeper than before of my understanding of the Pacific region. |
| I gained new knowledge of the pacific including the peoples and current issues facing the
pacific. Also I learned about how we can make Hawaii a better place to live. Most
importantly I learned to look at problems not by the Western way but the Pacific way. |
| Dr. Saili class has helped me learn a better understanding of the pacific and how we became the
state that we are today. Her course has taught me more about Hawaii and the Pacific islands that
surround us. Taking her class will help me teach my Elementary Students in the near future because
you need to teach Hawaiian History even though her class was more of a Geography class. She has
helped me develop my writing skills, note taking and speech in class by making us write a lot of
papers as well as lecture our class. |
| Humanities, Hawaiian Pacific Studies, fulfilling my history complementary requirement |
| Course did not go towards my Major, however I recommend this course to all students. Dr. Saili has changed enhanced learning and changed my perspective in the subject matter. |
| i actually only took this course as a filler but after being in this class and learning a lot of things about geography i think that it may come in handy someday. |
| I personally feel that my knowledge of the pacific especially knowledge about the hawaiian and samoan culture. |

|
| I have no comments. The activities and resources was well thought of and has enhanced my ability to learn about the subject of Hawaiian Pacific studies. |
| Overall don't think anything needs to be improved just that the current model is the best way.
The instructor is knowledgable of the material and provides many resources. |
| All the activities were very helpful in this course. |
| None, the group discussions, current news, talanoa, and ppt is the best way to learn for this course |
| Recommend field trips to facilities related to the course. |
| none that i could think of. |
| I feel like activities such as films/ documentaries fairly recent is current in recent information , and helps the class to visually understand the troubles and the current events of the pacific. |

17. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
|
| Dr. Saili executes very well her teaching style and methods. |
| The only suggestion I have is that all power points by available online. |
| There is none because Dr. Saili has been very helpful throughout this whole semester. |
| What is the next step? This is a course that can motivate people to become an advocate for important causes, I feel like that next step should be provided on the know how or who to contact or what groups are out there that students can hook up with. |
| None |
| her teaching style is perfect the way it is. |
| I feel like the readings were a bit too much for one class period, but i think that current events should be done every 2 weeks then every 3 weeks because it help us to see the struggles and triumphs of the pacific. Class discussions of talanoa needs to be shorten, and kept on tracked because I feel like the class misses the points of the talanoa. |
|

18. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
|
| I thoroughly loved this class. At first I felt a little overwhelmed by the instructions, but as time passed, I became comfortable with what I thought was intimidating; which was the work. LOL! |
| I learned so much in this class about the culture and the peoples of the Pacific and how this
Pacific way affects me. Professor Lilomaiava-docktor has first hand knowledge of the subject
and taught me to think in a brand new way. |
| She is an amazing instructor and I'm very glad to have had here teach me this semester. She is also a
lot of fun and helpful outside and inside of the class environment. |
| Excellent, knowledgeable, professional, fair. |
| Dr. Saili teaching and materials have systematically put GEOG into perspective. I've enjoyed and learned a lot which is credited to her teaching style. |
| she was a fun and wonderful instructor and i wish i had her again |
| an awesome teacher very easy going and easy to talk to, she can easily relate to students which makes her class very great. |

21. My overall evaluation of this course is...
|
| I love this class and would recommend this course and any of Dr. Saili's courses that she teaches, for those who are interested in learning about the Pacific or needs a Hawaiian Pacific Study course. |
| Everyone should take this class to advance their knowledge of the pacific. After all we are in
this culture. Furthermore I learned how to view things differently this. Class made me more
aware of the culture of the pacific. |
| great course and learned alot |
| This was a fun course full of great readings, and work that you have to do. It may seem hard but if
you stay on top of everything it will go by fast as well as get done effectively if given the time to do
so. I had a great time with my peers as well as Dr. Saili, she is amazing and I wish I could take all of
her classes because she makes learning fun. |
| a lot of homework and I sense that its a touchy subject and/or that a few people are very opionionated which is when the professor should step in and clarify the topic/subject being discussed so that peoples opinions are not misconstrued to be correct or incorrect |
| Great. I would highly recommend Dr. Saili's course to all students. |
| it was a fun and exciting course |
| A needed class to take to expand your knowledge about the pacific and especially if you live in the pacific such as Hawaii. |
|
