13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?

always available to help explain things to her students inside/outside of class She knows the subject matter well is very understanding of students. She helps us if we need help outside of class. She gives us examples and draws them on the board. She knows her material. knowing her subject and trying to make it easier for the students to understand... She REALLY knows the material. Doing a lot of examples of the mechanisms is very very helpful! She is nice and caring and is willing to change her methods if it will improve the effectiveness of the lesson. 1)very proficient with her mastery of organic chemistry 2) really cares about the students ability to comprehend a difficult subject Knowledge of material. Eargerness to help and teach students. Knowledgeable She knows the subject matter very well. She is always thinking a step ahead. She wants the students to understand the concepts and apply it to daily life. strong knowledge of subject matter

14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?

nothing Speak slower and louder. Do no erase the material so quickly off the board. The only part that i would change is her strong accent...It was a little rough on trying to hear what she was talking about....I was able to only get it when she should us examples... Get the class more involved, Maybe it would be a good idea to do the clicker questions AFTER the class. Do more examples on the board. She should continue to write all mechanisms on the board as she has been in the last month. From last term, she never really used the chalk/ dry erase board, so it was difficult to understand what she was teaching when she used her computer to draw on and project to a screen. She did away with that, so there really wasn't anything else that I could recommend that she change. None none

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?

always available to help explain things to students until they understand the material She made herself available online and helps with tutoring if we need it. She did clicker questions which gave students the opportunity for extra credit....She didn't mark your whole answer wrong if you got half of the reaction right than you got half point... She gave lots of opportunity for extra credit. She talks with them if they are not doing well. She goes back over material via clicker questions so that we understand. She always answered questions exhaustively if a student failed to understand a topic, providing many examples and explanations. Whenever I went in to ask for help, she was always willing to help. Not only asking if Iunderstood the material that I had a question on, but on other material that would be on the test. She wrote out sample questions and asked me to do them, and made sure I did it correctly. Went above and beyond to explain the material. Office hours. Encouraged students to answer questions via remote to gage class understanding helped us in any way possible when we didn't understand the material

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

yes, she makes a very hard subject easier to learn -- snipped -- Yes...I would recommend her to other students because she is nice, willing to help you understand the material...tries to make it easier to see who reactions work by giving examples on the board... Yes, She knows the material, and grades fair. Yes I learned a lot in class and the professor knows the subject very well. Yes. yes, I thought she was a great teacher that cared about the students and about chemistry -- snipped -- Yes, I learned Organic Chemistry :) Yes, she makes learning this material a little bit easier. She gives a lot of examples and tries to use a variety of methods to look at the same concept. yes, she is a good teacher * Showing 9 out of 11 survey responses.

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

overall good teacher Nice teacher.... I really appreciated her teaching style of such a demanding and difficult subject. I did not feel overwhelmed or defeated throughout the semester like many organic chemistry students of other professors. I failed one exam and I knew I would be able to recover sufficiently. Great professor!!! I wish she would dress a little more conservatively. Her attire can be distracting to my learning.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?

She wants us to enjoy and master the material and is always available for questions. She is thorough in explaining material. She helps and is very patient. She lets us think for ourselves but helps when we ask her. She knows the material well. Knowledge of material. Always involved in the experiments and always helped the students if they needed anything. She would test out the experiment before we did it in class to see if we had all the tools and if it would work or not. She clarified the steps of the experiment for that day. always available for questions She provides opportunities to learn. subject knowledge loves her job

14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?

Do a few examples of unknown before getting into it. No changes. The labs were much more realted to the sujects in lecture than last term, but it was because we were able to do more variety of labs with our greater knowledge base. Since we were learning basic principles last term, there was only so much that we could do. These labs were much more fun, especially the luminol labs. nothing

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?

She made herself available and was real easy to approach. She cared about the students and safety especially because it is lab. Walked around class and made sure we were all doing the labs correctly, but at the same time, she always asked us what was going on in the reaction, and if we didn't know exactly, she would explain it. She was willing to help and answer questions that students had. very patient and good at explaining things by providing more examples for the students to learn.

16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

Yes because she is patient and helps you understand the material. Yes, absolutely. Very knowledgeable, and I think she is very approachable for any questions or concerns that students may have. Her tests are very fair, questions are examples or slightly differnt examples of what she went over in class. So if you go to class and pay attention, you should do well. Yes, she made lab fun. yes, good teacher and fun lab yes she is a good teacher. yes, good teacher

Great professor!!! overall good teacher

7. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?

The most valuable aspects of the course was learning to name molecules and learning how certain reactions of different molecules occur. The aspects of the course that were most valuable is the content that we covered in class. Also there were good examples that related to our daily lives. Review Sessions. Enzymes and all. The one on one help was very valuable because I was able to comprehend what I have not been able to do so on my own. Everything, it all pertained to our everyday lives.

It was difficult to understand her at first and I felt that it was because there was a communication barrier, but now I feel like I know the material well. Adele was very flexible in letting the student give her ideas on how to make it understandable. She does want her students to succeed. Good teacher overall. Thanks for making every lectures easily understandable. Great job. Good teacher and enjoyable class.
