13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
The course was well organized and he was concerned about his students understanding the material.
His major strength is his ability to teach his students in such a way that his students begin to understand at a faster rate as the semester moves on
Was easy to communicate with. Never put anybody down. For example if a students answers the wrong answer. He wouldn't go to another student. He would make that student think. So the student can understand what he did wrong or why.
He is easy to understand plus very hardworking
clear and concise in providing instructions to how things are solved in mathematics.
Mr. Sasaki is kind and intelligent without seeming superior. He's down to earth, and very good at explaining the material.
Some strengths he had was being knowledgeable in the subject and teaching us in a way that was clear to understand it was straight forward.
Actually TEACHING. He didn't hand us a book and tell us to read it. He was open to any questions we had, and always clarified the subject material for us. He made sure we UNDERSTOOD math! Great course. I wish he taught higher- level classes as well.
Consistency of thought and fluidity of the lesson plan. Stays on task and focused.
His general knowledge of the the subject, his caring ways for his students, the way he made the class feel comfortable no matter what level of math you may need improvement on. He basically treated every student with extreme fairness
Clearly explains his lessons and math concepts. His visual presentations are easy to understand and is self explanatory. He encourage students to participate during class discussions.
Understands subject area very well. Organized lessons, very prompt in grading and updating grades.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Ask if students understand the content when they're working on harder problems on their worksheet.
None
He should be my instructor for MATH 103.
None.
Nothing
NONE. He's an excellent professor.
I have no suggestions his class was run very well
None. Just the fact that you should teach more classes especially at a higher level because I want to take him again.
Nothing really. He should keep teaching on his way because it clearly, in my class, works for the students. Students who come to class everyday are passing.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He checks to make sure students understand the questions after explaining the concepts.
He came to each student during each class session while students were working on class work and asked if they needed help and also offered help at the end of class and outside of class.
Grades. But the thing is no grades were bad. The average of the class was like a high B.
is very up to date in keeping our grades available for our own peace sake.
Keeps track, talks to students regularly during class. Makes sure everyone knows the material.
He helped student after class and I could see that he wanted his student to succeed.
He would always ask if we had any questions, and double check to make sure we didn't have any questions. I have a hard time in math, and his nonjudgmental manner of teaching helped me to actually enjoy math, which is something I have never felt in any other math course I have taken.
He gets to know people's names and walks around asking every individual if they have questions or concerns .
He walked around asking each and every one if us if we were doing okay and if we needed any help with anything. The little things like if we were absent for a while, he'd ask about it in concern and see if things were okay and if the students did have questions he'd go over it with the class and he suggested that if we had questions outside of class, we were able to email him about our concerns.
He ask students if we understand or if we have any questions.. After very class day, he would stay back so that students can ask him for help.
Took the time to go over any problems thoroughly, that students didn't understand. To ensure the concept was understood.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes?
Yes I would because he is a great professor and he knows his information
Yes. If you want to learn something because he will teach you what you need to know. It's easy to understand how he explains the lesson.
Yes I will.
Yes, class is catered to those who love or hate math. He always checks to see how you are doing in class and makes sure you know how to handle the material.
Yes. For the reasons listed above.
Yes I would recommend him to other students because he was one of the best math teachers that I have had.
Absolutely. He takes the time to prepare coursework and actually teach us so that we can understand properly.
Yes absolutely
Hell yeah! Because he is legit!!!
Yes because his class is easy to understand. Students can be very successful in his class with his help.
yes. Very helpful and great attitude towards students. Helps to ensure that students will excel in his class.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
He is generally quite friendly and encouraging.
None
He really helped me a lot in MATH 25. He is the person that goes on the board and lectures you for maybe 15-20 minutes. Then he gives out a worksheet to do in class. Then he rights the questions number on the board. After that students go up to the board to write up their answer. If anybody has something different they can over that question.
By far one of the best math teachers I've had since college.
Not much else to say. He's probably my favorite math teacher I've had.
Please give him a raise and let him teach higher-level classes!
Great teacher made The material very easily digest able
He's probably one of the best math teachers i've ever had...ever. I did not even have good middle or high school teachers till I took Ryan. He made difficult problems more easier to do and understand. He encourages us to study and do better. He motivates us by letting us know that mistakes are okay for we learn from them. He doesnt look down on his students like other math teachers, or at least like the previous math teachers i've ever taken. If he taught a higher level math I, without a doubt, would take his class again. My absolute favorite.
Great teacher and awesome class.
Awesome teacher. Wish he was available for instructing other math classes.
18. Other comments:
I am a terrible student but I'm not getting an F yet so Prof. Sasaki is definitely not a bad teacher

Thank you Ryan
don't work too hard haha.
Seriously, he's very, very good at teaching. I would take all my math classes from him if I could.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He knew his subject.
no flaws
He was available during and after class to those students who struggled with understanding the course material. He genuinely cared about the students.
Only rake 15 minutes to teach the lesson.
Ryan is very precise and to the point with his teaching methods, he also gives various examples of problems that students may need help on. Also, the worksheets that Ryan hands out in class really makes a difference for the students- letting us get more comfortable with new material that we learned. He consistently checks on us to see if were are alright with the problems or if we each need assistance. Ryan even gives us positive feed back and makes our learning surroundings more at ease to obtain information that is needed.
The course was well prepared. We did example problems for each section, followed by problems to do on our own. After that we would go over the problems and he would help anyone who had questions. We got worksheet papers to do towards the end of the class. Mr. Sasaki would then go around the class and offer help individually. He's a down to earth guy that students can communicate with and that was great trait about him. He also knew the material very well and could explain how to solve harder problems.
His explanation is very easy to understand.
He is awesome - lectures are very well organized - easy to understand - he's always on time - good review game before tests, quizzes - grades are posted quickly

Mr. Sasaki was an amazing teacher! Math is a hard subject for a lot of people, and most of the problem is because people don't understand it. The way Mr. Sasaki sets up his lessons, and the way he explains, shows, and practices with us in class has allowed me to be successful, and understand the subject more clearly than i ever have. Hes always available for questions, and helps your think through it completely. Ive never been good at math- or so i thought. But i just needed to teacher who cared about my success, and made it relevant and put it into context for me. Mr. Sasaki is a great teacher, i wish he did more than one class!
He its a very good teacher, explains everything to you in a very fun effective way. Very easy to learn with him and always looks for new ways to explain everything if you don't understand. He knows his subject very well!
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Slow down a little when explaining. Other than that he was really helpful.
none
none
I would say i don't have any because he is a cool professor and down to earth.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He always made sure to meet with each student one on one.
very caring
In his encouragement to them and his engagement of them in class.
don't know
During each of our lessons he constantly asked each student if we needed assistance or not when we were learning or doing our worksheets in class. And if any of us would have a question he would get frustrated or anything.
He showed concern by not blowing past any sections. He made sure everyone understood the material. If they didn't know he would explain. Also with the worksheets he would walk around and check up on all the students.
very well he always goes around class to offer help.
Extra help for students who needed it Stayed after class to help Constantly asked if anyone needed help Walked around checking in with each student
walking around the classroom and checking everyone if their have any questions.
-- snipped --
He would always ask if anyone had questions- and thoroughly go through the questions in class for that student, and for everyone else. He knew everyone by name and engaged each student to make sure no one fell between the cracks. Also, he would save time after class to hang around for any specific questions/ reviewing a particular student wanted to address.
He always ask one by one if you had any questions and always took the time to explain all your questions

Yes because it was well organized and easy class
Yes. Ryan is easy to get along with and i really like his teaching methods. I usually struggle in math, but the way he taught everything made it easier for me to actually obtain the information and acknowledge it.
Probably not. He comes off as pretty rude.
Yes. I would strongly recommend him to any other students. He makes class in a way that everyone can understand it. He gives you the tools to succeed. If you show up to class and do your homework you will understand everything easily. Mr. Sasaki also kept it fresh and let us play some jeopardy games for our review. It was a fun competitive way to review for a test that would normally stress you out.
yes sure definitely, because he is a nice teacher and all of above
Yes. Very well organized and very well taught.
No need because he is doing great for teaching us.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Very easy to understand
Ryan is great at explaining his reasonings for solving problems. He also takes careful consideration about the questions asked by his students and explains his answers thoroughly.
Ryan Sasaki's strengths were, knowledge of the material, positive attitude and the ability to answer any questions without hesitation. Also his encouragement to work with other students was helpful.
Ability to clearly explain the lesson to the class, made it easier to understand certain concepts and provided shortcuts that were simple and easy to understand.
He made math easier to learn. Ive had other professors for math and they were horrible. He knows what hes doing and especially since hes a young teacher it seems like hes been teaching forever.
His explanation is informative and clear.
I believe Ryan major strengths are his experience and knowledge.
Ryan was the greatest professor I have had at KCC thus far! He explained classroom and homework assignments thoroughly and proficiently and gave everyone the opportunity to participate and learn. All the subjects in math I have ever had problems in were explained in understandable detail. Ryan teaches very well and it's unfortunate he is not teaching next semester. I know a few students that were looking forward to attending his class.
He is an amazing teacher, he encourages students, and knows what he is talking about. He takes his time, and just really great
every class he asked every student if we needed any help. He knew the material.
His ability to explain clearly and move quickly through each lesson.
He is able to identify where a student needs help within the math work if the students are confused or having trouble understanding the information. He would help and clear and concise manner. He is easily understood when explaining math assignments and problems. He is fair and does not abuse his "power". He stays behind class for students if they need help.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Yes, Im thinking of next semester.
The only change I would suggest would be to allow Ryan to teach higher level math courses.
No changes are needed
No changes, hes prob the best Math professor at Kapiolani Community College. I would recommend him in teaching Math 100 as well, I would love to have him as my professor again. Thats prob one change the school should do, is offer him to teach higher Math.
He speaks pretty fast so he might need to speak more slow.
Overall, I feel Ryan did a good job teaching.
Bring him back next semester!!
None what so ever
NO changes
I have none his course was fun .
All is good.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
whatever we have questions, we can feel free ask him. make us to relax in class too
When I missed a school week due to a business trip out of country, Ryan met with me on a Sunday outside of school to go over the lessons I missed.
He showed his concerns by approaching each student every class if they were ok or if they needed further clarification on the math problems.
Was always available for extra help after class/office hours/scheduled other meetings. Any problems with homework, exams or classwork he was always willing to help explain better.
He always went over the difficault problems, if one of us could not understand the lesson he stayed after class to go over with us. And if we emailed him he was always on it and emailed us back quickly.
He sees students equally during the class.
He showed compassion to the students that needed help.
He made sure everyone understood each and every problem. He gave all students a chance to ask questions and at the same time let us teach ourselves. He encouraged us to get to know our classmates.
If a student were stuck on a problem, he would take his time to explain it, and if they were having a problem with the section he would try and figure out a way for them to understand it.
He stopped by every student and asked us if we need any help.
Took time to answer all questions. Made sure students understood before moving on.
Please refer back to question #13.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
yes, absolutely can recommend him. easy to follow this class
I would highly recommend Ryan to any student for math courses. Ryan has been the best math teacher I've encounted.
I would recommend Ryan Sasaki because he's very knowledgable and I found his class easy to fallow and understand.
Yes, great teacher, great class, he made the course easy to understand and the content interesting.
Yes, of course. Every student who has a hard time with math would be better off having Mr. Sasaki as their professor. Just the way he teaches and his methods of learning math maeks it easier to understand. i wish he would teach a higher math.
I recommend. Because he made me to like and enjoy math!
Yes, I feel he exhibits all the qualities of a good teacher.
I would definitely recommend Ryan to other students, especially students who struggle in math 25 or any math for that matter. Ryan is a very intelligent person with an extraordinary ability to teach.
Yes, he is an amazing teacher, alert and energetic.
Yes, He knew what he was teaching.
Yes I would. He is a very good instructor and makes sure his students are able to follow long.
yes. because everything i answered beforehand.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
thanks.
Ryan is a good person, caring, and thoughtful. He should teach more classes.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He knows how to teach the math in a real easy way. He can teach.
Provides an atmosphere that is more suited for students rather than the teacher
He helps explain to the students. Doesnt mind going back to explaiin etc. Overall great teacher.
He can help explain the lectures clearly and end class on time.
He is always willing to go over material repeatedly until he knows we understand. He uses methods that make the material easier to remember
Ryan presents the material in a way that is easy to understand. I like the layout of how he teaches his class.
He is a good teacher and makes learning easy.
Ryan has a really good way of making math seem approachable for everyone, He always makes sure that everyone in the class is followong and when someone has a question he is very respectiful and helps you out without making you feel inferior.
He makes things very easy to understand.
His confidence in his students ability to learn. His teaching style is straight forward and honest. He encourages his students to learn with practice and ask for help. Then he always follows up to see how you are doing. He consistently makes himself available and reachable.
I felt that Ryan's strength as a teacher, is how he treats his students. He's not only the Professor but he is also a friend to his students.
he was able to explain the material in a different way, making it very easy to understand for me as i had a hard time understanding and retaining the material at hand
Ryan get along with us students and really clear about math problems
He keeps teaches the class at a good paces, and when others have a harder time he is willing to help them understand it better.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Nothing really, he is pretty good with everything
None.
None.
Nah hes good
None
None.
The only thing I would do if I were Ryan is to set up an optional online study quiz for each chapter so people can really do a little extra studying on there own.
The only thing is maybe slow down while doing instructional board teaching for the slower learning student. However i do understand he is teaching the whole class and he does take the time to return to the student who does not understand.
The only thing I would change in Professor Ryan is his pay and that would be an increase. He truly is a Professor who knows his stuff and how to teach it.
at this moment, they're no changes i recommend for him
none
NONE.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
He would stay after class, to help students that are struggling.
He knows his students pretty well. He's young so he understands how us teenagers are. He helps us, and walks around asking questions and yeah.
He walks around the class and checks if anyone is struggling.
Asking when we were behind on homework, making sure we weren't confused
If you were behind on homework Ryan would find out what was hindering your from completing homework. This shows that he cares and has concerns for his students.
He was willing to help us out at any time.
Ryan always checked in with all the students and asked how they were doing and gave them positive feedback!
He is very concerned and good with telling us of we need more work or not.
Ask students if they need help, in class setting and individually by their seats. Made sure everyone knew his office hours. individually checked with each student to see how their progress is .... but really he knew ...........where each student was in the learning
Ryan cared about his students, and he would do what ever he could to make sure his students were doing well and that his students understood the homework.
for me, he wanted to make sure that i was able to pass the class. making it a fun learning environment.
He talks to us and made sure we knew what we are doing.
Mr. Sasaki always walked around the room asking each individual students if they need help with the martial.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, he is the best math professor i have ever had, i think its just the way he teaches the material, super simple.
Yes, keeps homework to a minimum, just 15-20 questions a night not the usual 100 that other teachers assign. Makes good use of the textbook's website where all homework is done, it has good resources to help you if you get stuck. He keeps the lectures simple and clear, easy to understand.
Ofcourse. He's a good teacher and explains everything well. More teachers should teach like him.
Yes because people will understand the way he teaches and the class will go by fast.

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
He is the bomb.
None.
I was hoping he would teach Math103
He's a good person in and out of class.
I think Ryan is the future of teaching math!
he is an outstanding teacher for his age...and it will be nice for his students now and in the future to learn from him.
I had several math teachers, but I would have to say by far Professor Ryan taught math better than any teacher I had at KCC.
i would recommend my friends to take this teacher as he was able to make it easy to retain the material.
Wish we have you for math 103!
Mr. Sasaki is the BEST!!!!
