11. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?
Bocar Wane is an excellent instructor. What stands out is his ability to reach out to students and get them interested in math. He can explain a cut and dry matter in a way that "it should poke your eyes." I recall he mentioned that his uncle got him interested in math, and the latter, had him work on a concept over and over again until he got it. Whereas students may find math well difficult, his levity and earnestness shines in class, making students want to get down a concept. I am very sure through the interaction in a vice versa, I see a caring, a bond really that shows. All of students know math can be a pain, and it is, but it can be fun when you get it right. I THINK, that is what his uncle instilled in him, and for which, we as his students see, too. Yes I would recommend Bocar Wane for above reasons.
Yes. He wants his students to get the subject matter and will stay on subject for as long as he can to insure that we get it. Some math teacher wont do that, and it hurts the students.
I would recommend Bocar Wane if you are a fast learner. One thing that is hard is having everything to be on Mathlab.
Yes, I recommend him because he grades fairly and gives many chances.
Yes--- helping students and explaining different ways to find a solution to a math problem so all students can learn, not just using one style of teaching.
Absolutely. Mr.Wane is an amazing teacher with a unique and effective teaching style.
Yes he's a good teacher
Yes, he's a very good teacher. I learned a lot from him. His class was really fun! If a student doesn't understand something from the lesson, he is welcome to help you. Attendance is a must, not only for grading purposes, but attendance is necessary to understand the lecture. Very rational.
Yes, I would. However, he moves too fast in the class.
yes because he is a good teacher, but no because he makes the students do homework, quizzes, and tests online

13. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Actually, he already has. He uses the MyMathLab which works to reinforce learning, and it is fun, and challenging. Because some of the students are working full time, I find that the arrangement he has with a student and in using the test lab works for me.
Yes. just by allowing his us to ask questions. That may not seem like much, but I had a teacher that wouldn't allow that, and have heard from other students that there are other teacher that wont allow students to ask questions in class. So when a teacher does, it elevate the atmosphere of learning. He is great at that.
One thing Bocar Wane could do to improve this course is to not making everything an online learning process. You are a good teacher in class, just sometimes you move too fast.
Make sure that "everyone" is at their best during class, so no one will fall behind. And write the letters or numbers clearly, so the students can solve equations well. :D
He could slow down his teaching.
do paper work instead

If I go Americorps, I would say he would be my role model for how it is done teaching class and how to get students interested in math. I believe he related well to students in class, and it shows because students are interested in getting material down.
You are a good teacher. I just prefer in class quiz and test and reassure everyone is at their understanding point of the math chapter you are teaching at the time.
please check your emails, thats the only way to contact you informally

11. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?
straight to the point.
Yes, he clearly understands the concept of his class and clearly explains it very well for students to understand.
yes because he teaches math to everyone in the class very easily
I would recommend Bocar Wane to other students because he knows his subject and can simplify problems to those who are having a hard time understanding. Also, you can meet with him personnally if the student is in need of more explanation.
For a simple math course like this one i feel that it's difficult to teach enthusiastically, but as we got further and further into the semester, venturing into the tougher math topics, Mr. Wane seemed genuinely fascinated by what he was teaching us, like how he would go off on his own, away from the book, and talk about the origin of equations and/or math tools such as pi.
Yes. He teaches well and gets through the material on a timely manner.
class good online helps me when I go home to study
yes because he explains the work and helps show how we got the answer
i would recommend him he is a good teacher open to helping his students
Yes. He is very understanding and will listen to his students and help them.
Yes, he's fair and is very patient with students. If you need help he's always wiling to help.
makes learning math fun.
Yes I would. He is a Math dictionary and people can learn a lot from him....
yeah relaxed class learn on your own environment unless you need help and ask questions.

not all online tests and quizes
N/A
Do work in class and not on the computer
I think he is doing just fine. I have no issues with the way he teaches.
Write more eligible
If he would periodically slow down and ask all students if they fully understand the material instead of sometimes just moving on ahead.
Donʻt just give the homeworkʻs quizzes and test on the computer, it will be good to have some quizzes on paper
needs to go say step by step how he solves the equation since sometimes he skip steps
N/A
Allow students to do the future homework assignments at an earlier time if they are ahead of the class. Maybe have two days rather than one in the computer lab.
I understand that Instructors have a deadline to meet so they must keep up with the course. My previous math teacher Glen Tegnan, is a very good instructor. Not only was he a teacher for many years, but he utilizes tutors in his class to help him. He sometimes has one or two student tutors roaming around the class making sure that everyone understands. No student left behind is his motto. Some students are smarter than others and others who's old like myself is rustier than the whole class. Im just kidding..... Mr. Bocar is a good teacher and I kindly suggest if he could have some of those tutors also roaming around to help as well. Thank you for listening to my suggestion and keep up the good work Mr. Wane..... Enjoy your Summer! Mahalo nui loa!

always answers my questions
Good Job Mr.
The reason i described Mr. Wane as chaotic is because i feel like he is thinking so rapidly and ahead that he rushes the minor things, like spelling clearly. Several times during class, the entire class would get mislead by his writing thinking that it was some number/word, but it was actually a different number/word, such as thinking that a 4 was a 9, and so on. Other than that though, I enjoyed spending a semester with Mr. Wane
It would be nice if the homework wasn't locked due to expired time/ poor grade on previous quizzes , because it is hard to catch up for students that don't have to time at home to work on it sue to jobs, no computer, etc.
After looking back I didn't believe I needed to take this course. I took it to fulfill the full-time credits so I could get financial aid. It was somewhat a review type of class and that lead to me slacking. Bocar Wane though is knowledgeable and patient with the subject. It would have been better had the homework assignments been opened earlier so I could have finished them on my own time and before classes on Thursday, but other than that the class was a valuable review and the teacher being how he is made it that much better.
Thank you! Mr. Wane, for helping me better understand a subject that I was never good at..... Have a Great Summer. Mahalo!

Great teacher, adjusts to students needs, flexible schedule, fun, easy going, class is easy to follow, always available for help.
I enjoyed this class a lot. I learned things that I'm supposed to know and I feel that I'm ready to take Math 197 for my EIMT AAS.
The subjects in this course can give a brief insight of math used in other courses. Homework could be distributed at home when lecture's over, and not in the lab when it's distributed in conjunction with quizzes and tests. Some of the pre-distributed material in MyWritingLab hasn't been used at all along with the textbook needed with this course, so I assume that the subjects I learned from this course is what MATH 053 is all about. The instructor knows the mathematics well and comes prepared with examples from the textbook. This may slightly give me preparedness for later courses such as Technical Math II (MATH 197).
