9. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I think it would be nice if we spent a little more time on each chapter. But given the time constraint I understand why this is difficult. Also would like more time spent on excel.
just making class a little more lively. Class seems at times very dragging and hard to pay attention.
Because this course is condensed it is very hard to learn all the concepts in large chunks without getting the basic steps to certain calculations very solid. Perhaps if the homework had more practice on step by step calculations. Such as making sure you know how to get a mean, sum of squares and degrees of freedom for basic problems. The long list of calculations given all at once, as is necessary for final product, becomes overwhelming if you don't have a healthy understanding of the smaller steps in between. Stuff that would seem second hand for a math lover, but is not obvious to those who struggle with math.
The homework that is due on exam days is usually review for the exam - maybe if it was due one class session before the actual exam would help some students know whether they're on the right track or what they should seek further assistance in.

She showed a lot of concern. The class felt extremely personalized and it really felt like she cared. That's a difficult quality to find at uhm. She's s good teacher.
She is very thoughtful and very felxiable
Sam went above and beyond to make sure we each had every opportunity possible to get the information needed to do well in this course. She was extremely flexible, and I for one greatly appreciated it. Yes, we still had to do the work, but that is the whole purpose of the course, and I appreciated that she didn't lower the standard just because the other students weren't willing to put in the effort. She is a great instructor and I very much enjoyed having her for this class.
We could count on Sam to let us know how we were doing in the class and how to improve not only our grades but our understanding of the subject, as well as providing us with tools to alleviate some of the extra time consuming aspects of statistics. I also believe she showed concern for us for allowing us to make mistakes, correct them, and also explaining to us the reasoning and importance of statistical methodology. Sam also communicated well with us and went out of her way to email students any helpful resources.
