9. What did you like best about the course?
She made the course so interesting with all her activities. Her activities was a fun way to show participation in the class as well as become more familiarized with the topics.
I really liked the group discussions. It allowed me to interact with my fellow classmates and is a good change from just listening and taking notes.
I love all the activities that we did in class. And our grade was not solely based on exam grades.
the material
This course was really interesting. I was able to learn a lot of new things and I actually enjoyed doing the assignments as they were great reflections of what we were going over in class.
The cultural variations within experiments.
The videos and the research that was from the professor. Also the assignments helped me understand the course a little better.
I like that her lectures and powerpoints were easy to follow and I like how she explained the differences between individualistic and collectivistic cultures in many different spectrums
I think writing the assignment papers helped me understand concepts and themes TREMENDOUSLY.
The information was really interesting and she did her best to provide interest to students. I enjoyed the class discussions and the assignments were fun and interesting.
Gained a new understanding of other cultural values and to embrace and accept all, despite how different it may be.
Many activities in the class and many videos we watched were interesting and efficient to understand the content of class.
Interesting videos
I liked the material that we learned throughout the semester. I was interested and intrigued by everything that Ashley taught. The textbook was great to read and the lectures followed through with the text nicely. I didn't feel lost at any point during the semester. The group participations and class discussions really helped me learn the material as well.
The videos shown in class, and the topic regarding illnesses.
The content and the group activities in class
Ashley was very informative. I could tell that she really enjoys teaching the subject and she's really passionate about her work (especially with Spanish background or Mexican background). It was motivating to see that the instructor really has personal stories to tell us and it made it interesting to go to class.
THE IN-CLASS ACTIVITIES WERE INTERESTING AND RELATED TO THE MATERIALS WE WERE TALKING ABOUT
I loved doing the in class assignments. It was hands on and enjoyable!
lots of videos shown
The assignments were clear and straight forward
i did not enjoy it. i had very little interest in the course but was required to take it for my major because of the timing of my schedule, so my opinion is biased.
Ashley had clear slides and her tests matched the material in the class
Study guide provided.
She is very detailed, personable, and kind. Her powerpoints relate to the text and she goes above in beyond in her examples and incorporates exercises/activities. She is a great teacher. She also makes her availability known if help or questions/convos are needed. She seems to really know the material more than a lot of professors out there in that she doesn't just follow the outlines of textbooks but adds more important and interesting info.
It's interesting to learn how we integrate culture.
Learning about different cultures besides American
liked the in class activities
IT WAS FUN! We learned and interacted with each other.
grading was based on completion for the most part which was a better incentive for doing it
The content of the course was very interesting.
Professor was very knowledgeable and inviting to those who seeked help.
The Professor.
SUBJECT MATTER AND INTERESTING ASSIGNMENTS
I liked the videos.
The videos of other cultures and how they live.
I liked how the instructor didn't follow exactly from the book, and helped explain different viewpoints than the viewpoints given in the textbook.
- Very interesting material - Great PowerPoints - Came well prepared

17. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
I think that it would be nice to have more assignments that are hands-on rather than answering questions about relevant movies, although the movies helped a lot.
Maybe less reading from the slides.
work on public speaking. She seemed frightened and nervous at times. Great person, but somehow try to make the material more interesting.
She is a very good professor. Her lecture was easy to understand, the assignments she assigned help to deepen my understanding for the course. The in-class group assignment also help me to learn more about what my fellow classmates opinions on certain subjects are as well.
I liked her teaching style. That she is excited and prepared to teach this class. I'm sorry I do not have any suggestions.
Her powerpoints and lectures are good but they are very text-heavy and lengthy so it becomes difficult to keep up with and stay focused sometimes. She should maybe consider making her powerpoints a little less text-heavy.
I think having the visuals, and videos were a great help, the group discussions were great too, it just became too routine sometimes, that made it feel a little slow and boring at times.
The wording on her exams were a bit ambiguous and could be interpreted in different ways which made it difficult to understand what was expected.
At times it was a bit slow in lecture, but it is heavily lecture so it cannot be helped.
not to talk to fast and be more entertaining
Use more class activities
Less monotone voice and earlier in the morning
I admit, the subject itself was very dry. It was hard to learn about cross-cultural psychology because it was too categorical. In cross-cultural, it did cover many indigenous cultures however, I felt as though it missed the concept of individualistic characteristics and qualities. But I thought Ashley was very open; she never was opinionated and she was always open to hear about how we as a class felt. I really enjoyed that part of her. It was a little dull over some subjects but I can't blame Ashley, I think she did the best she could for such a long subject. The powerpoint slides were easy to follow and the exam was extremely fair. However, the only thing I wished she changed was to give more exams. There were just too many chapters to study for 2 exams.
PLEASE DON'T READ OFF YOUR POWER-POINT SLIDES. I REALLY HATED THE CLASSES WHICH ALL YOU DID WAS READ OFF THE SLIDES. I WAS VERY BORED, AS WERE EVERYONE ELSE IN THE CLASS AND I DID NOT PAY ATTENTION. I JUST COPIED YOUR SLIDES TO GET THE INFORMATION. FURTHERMORE, THERE NEEDS TO BE ENTHUSIASM. ASK QUESTIONS TO STUDENTS, MIX IT UP MORE (DON'T HAVE WHOLE CLASS FULL OF JUST YOU TALKING).
her voice is monotone sometimes, maybe she can be more exciting. overall, it was a well structured course
Try not to read word for word straight from the PowerPoint. This pulls away from grasping your students which is why most people were sleeping or doodling and a rare few actually paid attention consistently everyday. Secondly, try not to say the filler word 'um' so much. I know its rough being at the front of the classroom, but um was used entirely too much every single day.
too much reading from the slides. very little information other than what is presented was shared with us.
Less reading off slides.. Walk around a little bit more. Ashley is very smart and clearly knows the information, however did not make it exciting to learn..
I wish she would move around, or have had a smaller class. Her being behind the podium the entire time made it boring.
Her methods and teaching style was effective. Just the room with the ac and big areas during the end of the day may have made it difficult for people to pay attention or stay in the course period.
She needs to slow down a little bit.
My active videos to make it more interesting
request a smaller room for class so it feels less like a lecture, and it will encourage people to work together for the activities and participate more in discussion. although it worked well in this class, it could have been even better
Maybe don't put so much info on the slides. I really like to write everything down so that the information will sink in more, but with so much wording on the slides, and the pace at which you speak, writing everything down was rather difficult. However, I do greatly appreciate the fact that you put the slides online!!
Make class more interesting by adding more group activities.
find a way to better communicate with the class
The course content is fascinating, but Ashley had a hard time commanding the class. It could have been any of us up there because 95% of the time she just read the powerpoint as if it were a script. The only reason people came to class was to do the activities for credit. I personally taught myself the entire course material through the posted powerpoints and the textbook.
Maybe slowing down a bit on the slides would have improved my note taking a bit.
GREAT CLASS AND GREAT INSTRUCTOR.
Slow down when speaking it made note taking hard.
- Could talk a little slower - Use more accessible language

engaging the class with more activities would be a good idea.

Great class, great professor!
It was great taking your class. Take care.
The course was interesting and made me think about how I view cultures differently especially when comparing it to my own culture. I like that she posted the powerpoints online so that I could refer back to it when I needed some missing information. I did not find the textbook to be very useful though since she explained so much of it in class so I didn't reference it very often.
thank you for a great semester!
Very good powerpoints, outlines the book and is very clear. It has relevant pictures and catches my attention. Maybe 3 exams instead of 2 just to ensure that people can make up points if necessary.
After taking this course, I've gained a greater interest in cross-cultural psychology. Thanks, Ashley!
Ashley was a great instructor! I felt as though most of the class under-appreciated her. I hope I have her again for another subject. She was extremely open and sincere about her work and it made it comfortable for me to approach her when I had questions. I think out of all the instructors I've had for psychology, she was one of the best. For a subject that is very controversial, she approached it in the best way possible. SO thank you Ashley for the great semester, and I highly hope to see you again.

She went way to fast on lectures and her voice was very monotone and it was hard to stay interested.
powerpoints online made the course much easier, probably because the professor presented little information other than what was on the slides. explanations through examples were very helpful and thorough.

TA was very approachable and helpful versus other TA's I've had this semester.
Anglin is GREAT! You can tell she has passion for her research and cares for her students. She can be timid but that is not illustrated in her teaching. Thank you!
great overall experience. will take more psychology classes because of it.
It was nice having the lecture slides posted.
Great instructor! really on top of her work! kept me interested even in the late afternoon
