| That it had changed a lot compared to the old times...We did not have to go in for two hours in Math Lab in order to collect the rest of your attendance point. |
| The online Math 18 is a difficult course. Some of the quizzes and exams are so extremely difficult pass it takes many many tries for some students to achieve a passing score of 70%. For instance, quiz 3 and quiz 6. I think students in this course would benefit from live classroom instruction in addition to the online course. Not having classroom instruction has made it difficult at times for me to understand the hows and whys of certain math equations. |
| Those labs are AWESOME!!!! If it wasn't for the Mathlab being available, I would of had an even harder time p.assing my Math 18. Good course |

| I wish that they would change the idea of having to collect your hours in Math Lab in order to get your other point especially when it is hard for some students that is working full-time and the time frame is way off...Wish you could go back to the old ways before... |
| The math lab is ridiculous when it comes to trying to pass quizzes and examinations. The noise level and constant interruptions are beyond frustrating and totally disruptive. There seems to be plenty of tutors available in the math lab. Thus, somehow creating a better test environment such as a separate room for quiz/test takes and then another room (the regular lab) for those who need assistance and/or need to ask questions would be greatly appreciated. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to concentrate on taking a quiz or exam while the person next to the student taking a quiz/exam is listening to rock music, eating, laughing and/or talking to other students or lab helpers about non-related math subjects. The math lab created a lot of stress for me because of the problem with inter-mixing test/quiz takers (myself) together with other students who are not focusing on math. The math lab is an unfair test environment. I did not like the time I spent in the lab as it was extremely difficult for me to concentrate. Thus, my failing quizzes and/or exams in the lab happened many times. Finally, in frustration I was able to take my quizzes and exams with teacher permission during class time other other teacher classrooms. It should be noted that all of the teachers and helpers in the math lab were very nice. They were always available to assist students when called upon. The teachers and lab assistants did make efforts to control the noise problem in the lab. Thank you. |

| Please repair the pianos in the roomâ??There are 6 broken ones; missing headphone jacks, some don't sound at all. two are de-tuned to the wrong key and three have hot spots on the keyboard where the note sounds too loud. There are two with broken notes that don't sound at all.
I mentioned this to the instructor and she asked me if I would help find the right person to fix the keyboards. Perhaps by the 2012 Fall Semester they will all be fixed.
This is a great class and we took turns sharing the working keyboards.
It would also be nice if the other piano teachers took as much interest in the equipment to make sure its all operational.
Dr. Anne Ku deserves a medal for her outstanding work with broken pianos. |
| Make a beginner class and a seperate advanced class as it was difficult being a beginner in a class with advanced students. |
| This is a 'concurrent' course, so it was really difficult for me as a first time piano student. The course was not designed to address all levels in the lectures or the tests. I know it was difficult for Anne as well. |

10. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

| I liked this course because the instructor taught us as a group as well as individually. I was really impressed by our Final projects. I also enjoyed attending a piano concert with other members of the class and our teacher. What I liked best was that this class was not an ordinary class. In addition to learning how to play the piano, we learned how to read music and learned music theory. |
| The challenge of stretching our abilities to find out our individual limitations were and then giving expert assistance where needed. It was a lot more than a basic piano course; it was an introduction to applied music and an appreciation of many forms illustrated on the piano. |

| I did not miss any classes, watched the video's and attended the lab as required.... All of these functions were necessary and I did understand the information when presented. What kicked me was my inability to hold onto the formulas and information needed to pass the quizzes and exams, actually stressing out each time I progressed on. |

| Students who are taking tests in the lab should be segregated from the other students to have a quieter environment for testing purposes. Teachers in lab were helpful. Course is difficult to pass individual quizzes adding to student anxiety about math in general. Teacher is very nice and helpful too. |

| Math is a difficult subject to teach, I think it takes a special person to put up with some students when it comes to math. Anne's good at understanding the difficulty students have when it comes to math, and keeping them notified of what they need to work on in order to succeed. |

| One thing I think Anne should work on is providing the "you can do it" attitude a lot of us students need. I think with math 82, so many students give up or fail that teachers might often assume the worst from their students. With math being my weak spot, I knew that I was going to have to do everything in my ability to succeed in the class, in order to do so. I felt like Anne often didn't believe I could do it, or maybe wanted it as bad as I do. If I knew she did, I would have appreciated my personal discussions with her more. She mentioned towards the end of the semester what I had to do to get a c, or to pass for that matter. I told her a c for me was unacceptable, in which I thought I had made clear and obvious from day one. I guess not! |

| great i dont like the fact that we have to do everything on line and on the computer i work better and do better writing things out and even the computer lab was a hard thing for me to accomplish and make each week. it was a burden to make time and find the time to go to the math lab for 3 hours a week. |
| Math Lab hours that are required was a huge challenge. I work full-time and have 4 little children. However, it was helpful when the Math Lab hours were adjusted. |
| I feel that walking students through the process of how to move forward in the glass would have
been most helpful.
For example.
- Clearly stating and explaining that students Must first do the online homework and get the
workbook signed off (which only the teach is able to do) before they are able to take a quiz.
- Also it it is easiest to fill out the work book when doing the online homework.
- Best use of math lab is to ask questions when stuck But you can also take quizzes (only if the work
book is singed off and enough of the homework is completed.
- It would also be helpful to be taught the common key board short cuts for entering answers into
the computer. |
| I know I had to work a lot harder than a lot of other successful students; which is fine. I accredit any success I come across in this semesters math class to the math lab. I know a lot of students hate the math lab, but I know that without the tutors and teachers to keep my head up; I would have had a much harder time completing the course. I wish further math courses offered labs or tutors like the easier courses do! |

| Math has never been a strong subject of mine. I especially appreciated her concern for all of her students with the email reminders and constant encouragements to utilize the staff at the Mathlab. Her approach to her students was always to let us know she and the Mathlab staff were there to assist us, no matter where our placement was. Her singular goal of making sure we understood that math was not difficult, if we understood the steps.

| It would be so wonderful if there were lab classes given on Saturday for us non-traditional students. I would of had to taken my lunch hour or extra time off to make it to the labs. That was a little difficult, especially if you have a full load of evening classes that start at 6:00p and you get off of work at 5:00p, not enough time to get to the labs. |
