17. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
|
| She always has a very clear message. Communicates well with students. |
| knowledgeable about topics |
| thorough material |
| She is very through and encourages questions. She always comes to class prepared. |
| Sandra is always open to answering questions and explaining what I do not understand. I feel like she treats all students equally and cares about us succeeding. |
| Sandra is a very thorough lecturer, she is very descriptive when lecturing, and it is easy to understand what she is talking about. She is kind and has a very bubbly personality. Sandra makes me feel comfortable when she is lecturing. |
| A wonderful instructor! She explains so well and her the way she explains makes me feel at ease. She is very thorough in teaching in lecture and lab. She is a wonderful person and very appproachable! |
| Her explanation of procedures and lectures. |
| Sandra makes you feel comfortable to approach and ask questions. She tries to give specific
examples to help visualize the material/skill. |
|
|
18. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
|
| every student deserves to be treated with the same amount of respect |
| none |
| Sandra is great, the only improvement would be to stay on point while lecturing. Sometimes she goes off subject while lecturing and I lose focus. |
| When Sandra lectures, she likes to describe everything in fine detail, sometimes she doesn't have enough time to complete her entire powerpoint. My suggestion is that Sandra should speed up the process and summarize what she is saying so that she and we all could finish on time. |
| After hearing from other students, it seems our clinical group is the only one where all students
could not pass medications on both clinical days each week. I am not sure why we could not when
all the others could. |

| I do have a problem concerning the way we are taught lab skills (this is for all the instructors). I do not understand why we are taught 2-3 sometimes 4 different ways of performing one skill. I am a first year nursing student, some of these skills are completely foreign to me and I find it confusing to try and remember the different ways of performing. Instead of expecting us to learn one skill and pull it off 3 different ways why can't a group of seasoned nurses have a meeting before demonstrating a skill and decide on one particular way to teach how it's performed?
After we have the foundation of how the skill is performed then point out an alternative way of performing the skill. This would help when check offs are due. ;) |

17. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
|
| Sandy is a wonderful instructor. She is always prepared and communicates
effectively. She offers constructive criticism that motivates me to improve
myself, and to go the extra mile. She makes the learning environment fun and
comfortable. She has always has a positive attitude, great humor, and is
very supportive. She does a wonderful job of teaching us the course material
and preparing us for assessments/quizzes/tests. I enjoyed her lectures and
appreciate her "sweet" spirit. |
| She really has a interesting style during lectures, she brings in small toys animals to go with her
presentation. Example she gave all the student a small Koala and her presentation was on Koala-ty
care. Some lectures she stops and makes sure the student have a better understanding in the
concept through mini activities. |
| openess |
| Sandy has a lot of knowledge about nursing. |
| Extremely helpful. Always offering her help. Makes us feel comfortable. Doesn't mind being asked questions. Lectures are very detailed and informative. |
| Her style of teaching was interesting. Real life stories help to put all the information into
perspective |
| If you one of her favorite students or in her clinical group then you will get the support for the class! |
|
|
18. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
|
| Sandy is great. |
| Course: Towards the ending of the semester test/quizzes was the same week as N212. I really like
how there are different techniques we can learn from among the different teachers. |

| Keep doing what you're doing! |
| In the beginning of the semester I was very excited to have Sandy as my instructor. She seemed very
intelligent, interesting and caring instructor. However, within the first few weeks it proofed to be the
opposite. I felt very uncomfortable asking her questions during her lecture, made me feel even
stupid.
During the test, after asking her to clarify the questions, her reaction made me feel like I was asking
a stupid question! and in the future, I chose to not ask a question, even when I didn't understand
something! |

| We were required to have our draft paper in by a certain date, we were told we would have our drafts
back from Sandy by a specific date, but only some students received their papers, while others had
to wait over two weeks to get the draft back and then have seven less days to complete the final by
the due date. As for the final, some people got their papers back quickly, and some students had to
wait five weeks for their final graded paper. All of the papers should be held until they are all graded
and then released at one time. It's not fair some students get theirs back while others have to wait
over a month.
Other instructors only took 2 weeks to grade all papers and released them all at the same time to
students. |
