18. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I'm not a big fan of debates, especially in such a small class where no one likes to talk.
Tell class about big projects at the beginning of the semester, instead of halfway through. That way every group has a chance to adequately prepare for their portion of the debate.

I liked reading the papers best, because I thought they were great at illustrating the practical applications of all the theories we were learning in class.

Good preparation of last year in Honors
I really enjoyed this course. It prepared me well for the Honors thesis write up, as I can use a lot of what I have written on the actual report. I extremely appreciated the oral presentations. Not so many classes offer us an opportunity to speak in front of the class so many times. It is a nervous environment that we cannot create by ourselves at home or elsewhere, so I really appreciated this learning opportunity. It seemed like you were worried about these presentations taking away our time from working on peer assessments, but I think's that's something to not worry so much about. We can do revisions on our own, and in my case I think you're feedback were sufficient. Perhaps you can just make it an assignment to have someone outside of class look over and mark up our work. I really wanted to stress how I loved the orals. Watching people speak was fun and helpful too. It gave us the motivation to make better presentations and to find new ways of presenting the same information. I really valued Joe's comments too, especially with the presentations. Because he says things very straightforwardly, it was really easy for us to get his message (Because I know sometimes we tend to give feedback very "vaguely" so that we don't hurt each other's feelings.) He gave us a lot of presentation tips and I hope you can continue having him as your TA for your future classes. The only thing, though, of course is that I really wanted access to those videos. It would've helped us a lot!! Anyway, thank you for a great semester!
The feedback given on written and oral presentation assignments was very detailed and specific to what I had written or designed for each assignment. I was able to use this to refine my proposal content over time, and I appreciated the attention to detail.
One of the best instructors that I've ever had! :)
I enjoyed this class and I feel that it prepared me for further research into my Honors project.
Dr. Chan is a great professor although I am still not confident in my ability to perform research. This is not as much of a reflection of her ability to teach as it is a reflection on my ability to comprehend strategies and synthesize information. I think Dr. Chan provided great exemplars and she divided the course assignments up in a way that it was helpful in completing our course objectives.
