20. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
She is a very knowledgeable professor and very kind. I really enjoyed her teaching style.
Wondeful!
I really enjoyed the class. I feel that social work should require some kind of disability studies course as part of the grad school requirement. Most of us will come in contact with someone with disabilities and education is such a huge part of helping with the stigma in society.
A great teacher who used all types of resources to make this online class feel like an "actual" class. Blackboard makes it seem just as good as being in the classroom, because it allows for group discussions, live discussions, presentations, etc. -- all without sitting through the traffic!! A wonderful teacher!!
Excellent! It was an online course that was very interactive and personal. Each session felt like I was in a classroom because I could see, hear and chat with the professor and my classmates on Elluminate Blackboard.
Excellent. I really appreciate the ways she provide us resources and information. Her class is always such an amazing and interesting. Also, when we need to talk to an instructor, she always make time for us. Thank you so much for your availability and always help us.
Overall, Dr. Conway is an excellent teacher who is clearly passionate about the subject she teaches.
Wonderful! Dr. Conway was very helpful, informative, and passionate about this course!

Truly fair accurate and instrumental. To most who qualifies or Entitlement to Dis. but lacks the understanding to "What Entitlement is", Will be provided. Dr. Megan really provided information needed to complete my un-answered questions for a very very long time. Thanks to Her lectures and examples on what to expect on disability also change my heart on responsibility has a husband at home . All my fears about disability has been answered. Everything I needed to understand about disability Has been provided by Dr. Megan in a clear matter where everyone.

23. What did you like most about your online course experience?
I could take the course from home. This aspect on online learning was so helpful and convenient!
Flexibility
I liked that Megan has so much knowledge about the course and subject and really enjoyed the blackboard forum
I loved that I could still interact with the other students and teacher throughout the class. It did have the feel of being a normal class.
I liked meeting weekly and discussing topics.
Even I hesitate to talk..I can type.
The ability to attend class at home or work so that I could fit the course around my work schedule.
It provided more flexibility
i liked that the students and professor were so involved with the material. there was a constant flow of comments and interaction with the material being presented.
The on-line class was a challenge for me.Regardless of the my lack of computer skills, personally I was happy to fulfill the task regardless of my weakness. I'm registered for the spring 2013 Dis 684,685,686
24. What did you like least about your online course experience?
Technical difficulties. ;)
Not being to meet the classmates face to face on a regular basis
nothing
I felt that the online course required much more work and time than a regular course.
The hardest thing of on-line class is how to figure out who is my classmate. When I have group project with my classmates, since we meet only via on-line, it takes time to figure out who is my class mate especially when we first meet via face to face. I am kind of miss regular class. If possible, I would like to ask you to migrate the class..for the people who can attend to the class..provide lectures by regular classroom settings ..and who is not able to attend the class ..provide via on-line.
Having a slow internet connection which caused delay sometimes ;)
I wish i had the opportunity to see my classmates in person more often. i had the wonderful experience of meeting and working with 3 of my colleagues in person at the Sinclair library and working many hours on a group project which turned out wonderfully.
My computer skills.
25. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Excellent. I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested in having a wonderful introduction to disability and diversity studies.
Excellent
great!
Excellent!! I can't wait to take another online course in disability studies! It really opened my eyes.
Great! I enjoyed the course and learned more about Disability Studies.
Excellent. I was able to learn "disability " from different discipline. Each discipline was so broad. I am wondering that CDS might be able to make courses of each discipline. For example Disability and Education series...or Developing country and disability etc..
Great course! Definitely expanded my knowledge of the subject matter.
A+

26. Other comments:
Thank you, Megan, for a terrific class this semester!
Please have more courses set up like this one.
Loved the course!
All classes should have an online option!
Please make Doctoral degree courses in Center on Disability.
This is a great course and Prof. Conway is a great professor in so many ways...the following are some of the positives that come to mind when I think about her and this class both of which I already miss. 1. She is so knowledgeable in her field of disability studies. 2. She is always available by e-mail phone and even in person. 3. She went out of her way to provide reasonable accommodations for my learning disability. 4. She is always encouraging which allowed me to take on new and more complex projects. 5. She was very encouraging of class members to meet in person 6. She brought 3 very interesting and knowledgeable guest speakers to present in their field of expertise. 7. She brings across very complex material in very plain English in style that is very accessible and easy to understand. 8. I feel privileged to be able to participate in a course where the professor and all the students care so much about what is being discussed. 9. She always records the class and makes her notes available for review 10. There are so many aspects of Prof. Conwayâ??s character and personhood that come across in the way she conducts she conducts herself professionally and personally; that she serves as a model for how her students will interact professionally and personally in their interactions with people with disabilities. 11. She is putting together a social and inviting the class so we can once again have the opportunity to meet one another and celebrate and enjoy our collective and personal successes. 12. Through it all she is able to maintain a sense of humor which keeps sometimes very disturbing material from effecting your ability to delve into and deal with very important topics which nearly all people turn their backs on. 13. Thank you professor Conway for another wonderful semester and the opportunity to have this great learning experience.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE AND THANK YOU DR. MEGAN CONWAY.

20. What did you like most about your online course experience?
The information from the instructor, the textbook, students lead seminar, and the speakers are very helpful for me.
I enjoyed the ease of participating. I also enjoyed being able to do it from anywhere and not have to pay high gas prices, travel around the island to attend, and then locate parking once on campus. I wish MORE classes were online!
I found the Elluminate program to be very user friendly, however i didn't learn to use all aspects and abilities. The students were engaged but it is very different from an classroom experience. There was a little getting used to the ways students participated in discussions.
I loved the accessibility of it. There are so many more options for communication than in traditional lecture courses. I definitely feel like I learned more because of this, and that I had more opportunities to contribute.
21. What did you like least about your online course experience?
The online discussion. Students need to be more active to comment on each others' discussion.
I felt a little disconnected in that I was unable to interact personally with people, but I think Megan did a great job of allowing people to express themselves, posting pictures, etc.
Sometimes i felt lonely where i was taking the course. The lack of face-face contact was a little strange at first.
I'm having a very difficult time thinking of anything I remotely disliked.
22. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Great!
I really enjoyed it. I liked the student seminars, but I missed Megan lecturing on those days.
I gained alot of information useful to me for my future work. The individual student seminar experience was a great learning opportunity. And i enjoyed the subject material both from our instructor and other students. This was a great class.
Excellent. The topics were interesting and I learned a lot, or changed my way of thinking about some things. There was a strong rapport between everyone involved. The class was extremely accessible. The instructor was helpful and knowledgeable and interacted well with everyone and was very clear about her expectations. I appreciated the casualness of the whole experience, which I suspect is partly due to the online context (show up in your pajamas, no problem!) and partly due to the instructor. It made for a very comfortable learning environment.
23. Other comments:
I learned a lot from the course.
I would very happily take another online class and/or another class with Megan.

18. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Dr. Conway in knowledgeable about the content area. It is evident through her class presentations that she has a passion about disability and diversity issue.
Overall, I think Dr. Conway did a really good job of presenting course material and bringing in guest speakers that helped to provide us a deeper understanding of class readings. Dr. Conway did a good job of bringing up topics that were perhaps difficult for some students and she provided many opportunities for us to ask questions and share our thoughts with each other.
great professor great class. I got so much out of this course, probably my favorite class I have had yet. I learned so much and was able to bring this knowledge into my field of study.
Excellent! She is very well organized, clear, and interesting. She provided a nice balance of instruction and discussion time in class. This was my first Elluminate class and she made it very workable and worthwhile. I have learned a lot that is useful personally and professionally. Thank you!
She is a great professor and very accommodating. I wish I could be involve in this class. I learned a lot from others. Thank you.
Professor Conway is an excellent instructor - great rapport with her students, solid knowledge of the subject matter. As much as I enjoyed the guest lecturers, I really noticed a difference in my engagement level depending on whether Prof. Conway was leading the class or someone else. I'm not sure if it's because Prof. Conway is more experienced in leading online classes, but she is very good at engaging students and keeping their attention.
She is a wonderfull professor. She has a lot of knowledge, and she helped me understand some topics better. Thank you Dr. Conway!!!
Well organized and made the online live classes interesting and feel like a traditional class.

21. What did you like most about your online course experience?
Because we only met once a week, I felt like I could complete work around my hectic schedule which made the class very manageable.
I liked that the course was synchronous, because I like having the opportunity to talk about class readings and being able to still feel that I am interacting with people and not just the course material. I also really liked the fact that we had students participating in the course that lived all over the place (i.e. Canada, Boston), and were able to have presentations from people from a distance as well (i.e. the Czech republic). I think this adds even greater diversity to the learning experience overall.
I loved the lecturers from all over the world.
Variety of topics was good. Professor posed thought provoking, meaningful questions that helped deepen the experience. Also appreciated that she used our pictures and names and posted them in the beginning of class every day. It helped me to know who else was in the class and put faces to the names.
Presentation from other students and different speakers.
I LOVED the accessibility. This is easily the most accessible "event" I've ever been to, compared to other educational activities, conferences, work, social events, etc. I LOVED that I could fully participate. I really liked the different ways of communicating - voice, chat, whiteboard. I found as the class went on, the amount of participation in the chat box just zoomed up - everyone seemed so comfortable participating that way. It was nice that the participation wasn't cornered by a few talkative people, the way it often is in real-life classes.
Well I always loved online courses. But this specific course was different because we used the microphone, the captioning and the room chat to communicate. I loved the captioning, because eventhough I do not have any hearing disability, sometimes the voice wouldn't be clear enough, so I used the captionning to read and feel that I am still in class and not falling behind. I think it would be also nice to add the video so we can actually see the person who is talking.
I have taken courses that are entirely online with no interaction except for the online discussion board. The weekly live class made it feel more like a traditional class and facilitated greater learning.
22. What did you like least about your online course experience?
I sometimes felt like my readings didn't really assist me in being able to participate in the classroom discussions or to address the required discussion question. In a few instances (the build environment for example) I felt like participating in the discussion first would have assisted me in writing my post for the week. Because the class size was relatively small, it was noticeable that some students only contributed minimally to discussions.
I found the group project somewhat difficult to navigate. Because you aren't physically in class with them, you can't go up to your classmates and say, "Hey, let's meet to talk about this" or "Let's meet after class." --You send an email to someone and hope they respond within a few days (which, in my experience, they don't always do), and this was frustrating to me as I put a great amount of effort into the project and presentation. Also, of course, there were the occasional technical glitch, but I don't know if this is something we can really expect not to happen...and I think in the case of our class, the positives outweigh the negatives.
never meeting everyone in person
I found the group project difficult because it required working with people we've never met before. In a normal class, you see the person face to face and have a rapport that is not easily built online. Having to work with people in person for an online class was challenging. I would suggest individual projects and presentations about organizations, shared in small groups of like 3 or 4 instead.
I have lots to learn from online class, need to get use to online learning. May be for those on campus can meet in class while doing online with others elsewhere.
There were some technological issues that delayed or interrupted some classes.
I liked everything about the course!!!!!!!!
Group projects are never a good experience and this course was no different. I recognize that some professors feel group projects teach team work, but I do not agree with this rationale. There are always group members who don't pull their weight. In graduate school, we all have experience with teamwork in the real world.
23. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Overall I enjoyed the course. I found many of the readings thought provoking. I also appreciated the use of guest speakers to provide various perspectives and to provide more specific knowledge about different topics within disability studies.
Overall, I thought this was a great course and I would recommend it to my classmates in my department. This course provides a broad background in the disability studies and allows you to interact with the course material, your classmates, your professor, and a variety of presenters. It's a great way to broaden your perspective and this course can add something to the education of everyone in any academic field.
A+
Very good. Everyone on UH Faculty and Staff, especially in CDS, should be required to take this class!
Very informative and help me to look different aspects of disabilities issues.
Excellent. It's probably the best class I've ever taken. I'm very pleased with the evaluation methods, I liked the instructor, I liked the topics and most of the readings, I liked my fellow students. I came into the class with a fair amount of background knowledge, but I still learned a lot and some of my perceptions and opinions changed.
It is really helpfull, and changed my opinion about disability, it made me more aware of the field of disability studies.
Good course

15. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Megan Conway is a very liberal professor, open to ideas and listens to the speaker and not impose her thoughts and ideas on students. She is creative, her lectures and lessons are intellectually stimulating and has mastered the art of pedagogy. Megan has always been prepared, organized, communicated effectively and worked well with me both in and out of class. She is one professor, I greatly appreciate and enjoyed learning with.
16. My overall evaluation of this course is...
This course is comprehensive, a cumulative study of concepts, issues both current, past and possible future events. DIS 699 is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of disability and diversity education, multicultural sensitivity and related issues. It is not restrictive, allows time, space and choice.
