12. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
Readings and class discussion
I enjoyed the presentations on our individual subject areas the best. They were very interesting and helped me learn about a wide range of applied social psychology topics. I think that it was also helpful to read chapters from Social Psychological Foundations and to present on those chapters, because it provided a useful example for how we should apply social psychological theories to our own areas of research. Furthermore, I was extremely impressed by Nancy's abilities as an instructor. She prepared extensively for each class and was extremely knowledgeable about every subject area that we discussed, even the ones outside of her main areas of interest. She did a wonderful job in keeping the class discussion on track and in connecting back to the conversation seemingly unrelated comments that students made. Even when someone made off the wall comments, Nancy was able to find the thread of logic in the student's statement and either clarify the statement for the student or prompt the student to clarify and connect the statement back to the discussion. I was extremely impressed by Nancy's ability to do this. Lastly, Nancy provided very detailed feedback to each individual student at two points throughout the semester. This feedback was extremely helpful.
I really enjoyed the perspective of Dr. Stockert. She has broad knowledge of social psychology concepts and the applications of same. In addition, she showed by example how to analyze articles, and she demonstrated appropriate ways to praise and criticize them. I wasn't expecting much from this course but really learned a lot. I wish this were a year-long course. She also introduced several topics that were new to me. She offered a lot to the class from her areas of expertise. I especially found the Logic Model and Social Marketing lectures interesting and really appreciate her gathering articles into the smattering of applied social psychology document. That document will be very useful in the future.
13. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
Presenting
We spent a great deal of time with the book, Social Psychological Foundations. It was a good book in that it provided an excellent model for how to apply social psych theories to real world models, but we could have spent less time with it. I think that one chapter per student would have accomplished the same purpose. I also would have liked it if the student presentations on their individual topics lasted an entire class period each. They were all so interesting that I think one topic per class would have been better as we could have discussed each topic in more detail.
I did not appreciate that some of my classmates were sometimes unprepared for discussion or presentation. I was surprised that they thought this was acceptable behavior for grad students. It was a waste of their colleagues' time, and insulted our preparation.

Great course!
Nancy is an amazing instructor. I would gladly sign up for any course that she was teaching.
Dr. Stockert did an excellent job of managing the personalities in the room. It seemed we started off a little rocky, with some students going in circles with their logic, or digressing from our original topics. But we learned from Dr. Stockert how to stay on track. And the discussions were rich and interesting (although they had to be constantly managed).
