5. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
The lecture, and her power point presentations. I liked our assignement to break down labs and present labs in class. I liked her personal experiences, and how she tied them into lecture. Also how she explained what being a practitioner would be like.
the lecture but most especially the practical.
Lectures were informative.
Having the powerpoint presentations on Laulima for student review.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
I think the lecture should focus more on common problems we would see in practice, and how to do health hx questions, ros, which systems to assess related to the problem. She did mention it in her lectures but it was very brief. Or a case study at the end of the lecture, to start prepping us for the final. It felt like there should have been more preparation for the final exam in lab, and applying the assessments and critical thinking we learned to patient problems. There is not enough focus on objective #4. Interpreting lab and diagnostics. This should be a separate course.

6. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Practicing in lab, and watching Jessica do the assessments. More lab time to practice with the tools provided (sim man, ear and eye models). The gyn exam was the best part.
all aspects of the course were valuable
The lab portion of the class, because this allowed hands-on experience. However, traveling to and from UH to Leahi did waste time from the lab portion of the class.
VERY nice to have the hands on lab experience. Dr. Hayden was very professional and an excellent teacher. By far, the BEST aspect of this course was the small size. This was very conducive to learning and allowed us to really have time grasping the material and becoming more effective practitioners. In the future, keep the class sizes as small as possible.
7. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
I would have liked to spend more time, talking about lifespan and how to assess differently for different age groups. I would have liked to start practicing the oral summary early on in the semester so we would be prepared for the final. More soap note assignments would be helpful, and to have the students actually interview real people for the soap note to start practicing health hx questions, ros, and plans of care. I would have liked a portion of lab to be devoted to common problems and case studies so we could begin practicing for the final, and knowing which systems to assess and why?Maybe one lab day devoted to case studies or problem visits. Not enough time in this course to focus on labs and diagnostics. Needs to be a separate class.

I think interviewing skills should be practiced throughout the labs and Oral presentation preparation should be initiated before the mid-term, since it was emphasized that this skill will be important for clinical preparation the following semester.
