13. What did you like about this course, such as activities, projects, assignments, etc.?

| I thought the assignments and projects were very useful and was very true to what we were learning.
Overall it was honestly my favorite class I have ever taken in college. I loved how hands on you were
even though it was online and also loved all of the feedback that was given. That alone helped a lot
with trying to learn in the best way possible. |
| I liked the reading retreat. |
| I enjoyed the assignments where students had to read and interpret articles. |
| I really enjoyed the major project that we did. It took a lot of time to complete but allowed us to work on something we enjoy and be given points for it. This leads to easily self motivated awesome projects. |
| I liked the travel project. What I also liked was that in the modules, the professor always gave encouraging quotes every week. |
| This course seemed like it would be a lot of work, and it was, but it was easier than expected thanks to Diane's willingness to answer questions promptly and also because everything we need was on Laulima and organized. The assignments like discussions, blogs, and supplemental assignments kept me engaged in the class while I worked on bigger projects like the Reading project. |
| -Assignments and projects were interactive. They involved the Mercury Reader text, news articles, books and outside reference materials, and more. It was not just focused on the online aspect.
-The modules made is super clear as to what needed to be done on a weekly basis. All of the information was right there and easy to locate.
-The "Blog" feature was new to me. It was like a virtual learning journal and proved to be helpful for reflecting on the course and my progress throughout the course. |
| I enjoyed the visit to the ranch to meet Professor Ferreira in person. I
also enjoyed the main project of our choice in which I chose the roots
project. Over all I really felt that this course was a fun and enjoyable
learning experience. |

14. Any suggestions to improve this course?
|
| I did however find the project explanations to have less details than greatly needed. It didn't really
explain on what kind of work we would have to turn in on the word documents that were listed.
Other than that class was great. |
| Nothing really, this course was most impressive. |
| For being an online class she appears to be doing absolutely everything she can to teach effectively. Even optimism and joy is expressed in her online modules. |
| The only suggestion I have is to try and get everyone's opinion on where the Retreat activity should take place. Not everyone could make it out to Paauilo, so i think asking everyone for their input would result in better attendance at the activity. |
| -Possibly an alternate Ranch Retreat day for those who are unable to attend if there are enough students who did not attend the first time and if there is enough interest among those students. |
| I feel that if the ranch is going to be a part of next semesters course work,
then you might offer a choice of 2 times to attained. Then go back to the
scheduled program you have previously used. This way everyone gets to enjoy
the fellowship of their classmates as well as it being more of a reading
retreat. You have so many lovely books that it would be nice to get to use
them more. I also would check to see if the vocabulary words are to commonly
used to were they are easily known or if they are only easy to those who read
a lot. |

| Loved how involved you were with your students. All the feedbacks you would give were very
informative and helpful. |
| The fact that I could go to class and do work at home was a plus. Also, our last project. I chose the
"Read to a Child". That project was stressful but fun. |
| Ability to choose when I participate in the class, to a certain extent. |
| My favorite thing was the fact that it was a completely new experience. You don't get much of those. |
| The fact that it WAS an online course, I was able to fit this class into my already busy schedule.
Being able to work on the assignments at any time of the day was very convenient. |
| I enjoyed having an online instructor who took the time to include my name in emails, because it just gave me a more personal interaction (as personal as a screen to screen experience can be). It was also nice to have Diane send encouraging notes congratulating me on maintaining an A grade, and helped keep me going. |
| -The site was very well organized.
-The discussions were helpful. I learned a lot about the subject as well as about my classmates and professor.
-It wasn't stressful overall. I even learned methods of coping with and reducing stress from this course.
-There was a very friendly and encouraging atmosphere throughout the semester. |
