This course has built my self-esteem and ability to speak in front of a class.

How Kumu was always open and willing to help out everyone in class, and always so nice and understanding

She was clear in giving everyone instructions.

That she uses real life examples to explain further about the topic that she is lecturing on.

Dallas is a wonderful teacher that was able to incorporate team building games that allowed us to be comfortable with each other so when we presented our speeches, it was more comfortable.

she is so nice, funny, and understandable to every students needs.

Dallas is a fun and knowledgeable instructor. She made a class that I never imagined I'd like into a great experience. I would recommend her to teach this class again.

4. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?

Knowing the proper structure of an informative speech will prove to be very useful to me.

The variety of lectures and activities helped me to grasp the concepts of communication.

I overcame my fear of speaking in public. I have the tools I need to write a speech for any situation and have learned what works for me and what doesn't.

Mary Jean "Lily" Tomlin, an American comedian, once said, "I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework" â??and thatâ??s the truth." Critical thinking does not expect students to simply answer the questions, but responds to an open-ended question with meaning and creativity, disclosing a window into a studentâ??s knowledge and thinking. The assimilation of critical thinking skills in the class environment through class discussions and reading responses brought about positive effects on my critical thinking skills and learning outcome, resulting in overall satisfaction. It has allowed me to go up as an adult. I have grown as a responsible, independent, self-sufficient and disciplined student that is given the respect that I deserve.

She gave plenty of bathroom breaks!

Her enthusiasm about the topic kept me interested in it, too.

Dallas Mccurley imparted the information in 3 ways. This allowed me to understand what she was saying. If I didn't quite understand in one way, I could pick it up in the other two ways. She taught using examples which was also helpful. She also held my attention for the whole class-that was over 3 1/2 hrs at a time. We did many exercises to help with discomfort in speaking in front of the class. I felt respected as an adult which isn't always the case in school. She was an excellent teacher.

Keeping in mind that class was a total of almost four lingering hours, McCurley not only caught the classes attention, but kept our attention. Hourly breaks was very helpful.

I was very lucky to have had Prof. Mccurley as my instructor. Her class is fun and very easy going, and she grades mercifully. Had it been anyone else, I likely would have struggled in Speech.

She is a valuable asset to the college in that she is able to impart the information in a way that it sticks. I will take this information with me through my life. In some classes, I don't remember the information later, even though I worked and studied hard. The fact that this information is available to remember when I need it is remarkable to me. She is really a great teacher. I wish she taught all the other subjects. I would take her class every time.

Professor McCurley, Thanks again for being such a great teacher and an insiration for me. I hope that you have a great rest of your summer. Mahalo! Jamie
