| Great teacher! Always willing to help and sincerely wants students to succeed |
| The materials of the course were interesting to learn about. However, I feel that we spent a lot of
the time at the beginning on a little more basic items and the regression towards the end I feel was a
little rushed. Other than that. Great class. =) |
| I like how you continue to do an overview in the beginning of class because
this class involves building on top of previous concepts. I like how you
teach by talking and utilizing the chalkboard before going into the PPT
slides. I think it is a much better way to get the info across to others by
having them see you work through the examples. I also like how the
assignments intertwine with each other because you get to learn the material,
go through the hw to see if you really understand the concepts and finally
have the midterm/final. |
| I like how the class was structured. we had had a lot of tools at our disposal. I appreciated the teaching style, and the "swag" used while teaching. It is good that we were asked if we understood the material. I also liked that we were given time to assignments because my attention span was gone by the end of the day. Overall it is a difficult class but a good one. |
| Rachal is a very good teacher. He takes the time to make sure everyone is caught up and knows what is going on. He also gives us a lot of help outside of class if we need it. Our Laulima page is full of resources that can assist in learning the material. There is kind of a lot of homework, but it is manageable. It is a challenging class, but he makes sure that everyone can pass and learn the stuff... |

| The class was a bit slow in the beginning of the semester. However, Prof
Rachal's teaching style became more helpful towards the middle to end of the
semester because he constantly reviews the class. He is very understanding.
The problem sets were pretty challenging but helpful in the learning process. |
| You are a good professor for a some what difficult course. Keep up the good work. I also like how you show the stuff can relate to the real world. |
| Seemed to enjoy teaching and always wanted to help his students whenever possible. |
| Great teacher, went over material well and had many resources available to students |
| Professor Rachal was always prepared. His stories were interesting and I enjoyed listening to it. It was comforting for him to ask the class if we understood and asked us one-by-one if we understood. He takes the time to explain things and would keep explaining it until we understood it. He made statistics into an interesting and easy subject. to be honest, i was afraid of taking this class but after taking this class, i feel that statistics can be applied to not just business. i am changing my major to education but i believe i can take this class with me throughout my life. Professor Rachal always shows how much he cares about his students and gives us a "pep" talk and it seems as though he is my father. i enjoy when he looks up the jobs on monster.com because it makes me realize that what i'm learning can actually be applied. Professor Rachal has made learning stats fun and easy! I would suggest this class to ALL my business friends. I appreciate his teaching ways of ppt AND chalkboard. he is a VERY caring guy and it makes learning easier when a professor shows he cares about his students. thank you Professor Rachal for a great semester! |
| Prof. Rachal is great, but I think he should do more homework assignments on working out certain
problems and going over them in class before the big assignments. |
| great teacher, helpful, will recommend to future students |
| Very good class. Professor was always willing to answer question or explain any problems we had.
He gave us a lot of time for us to complete our homework and allowed us to work in groups. |
| Overall, Professor Rachal is a great professor. He stays true to his
syllabus and schedule, has tons of material available online, and offers
practice exams and problem sets. The extra credit opportunities definitely
helped and also allowed us to learn material at the same time. Also, great
job on the short reviews done every day that cover everything we've learned
thus far, it helps retain the information and prevent us from forgetting
key concepts. The "run through" on the example problem done the 2nd to the
last class really helped me with the applying part of everything we've
learned. If possible, I think that doing breakdowns like that and going
step by step through a problem really help with the overall understanding
of the material, I highly encourage doing so in your future classes. Going
through the class one by one and checking individually to make sure each
student understands "where we're at" helped and is something that I don't
see other professors doing. Keep it up, great job this semester. |
| I think it would be beneficial for more practice on how to solve problems in class on top of the theory that we learn. I would have preferred more time learning from him on how to solve problems practically so that I can apply them to my exams. |
| It was fun. STATISTICS. That's saying something, I think. |
| Professor Rachal really cares about his students, he has a great personality
and shows that through his teaching style. |
| Professor Rachal is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He is also
passionate about his field, and compassionate for his students. The work may
require higher-level thinking, but Professor Rachal's teaching methods ensure
that everyone who wants to understand, will understand. I highly recommend
Professor Rachal's class to any and everyone who wants to learn statistics. |
| I think other students should know for the class that PH Stat requires administrator level privileges to run properly in Excel on Windows. Allowing macros to run is not enough in some circumstances. If a student does not have access to Excel on their own, it is much better for them to do their homework in the Shidler computer lab rather than in either of the libraries on campus as they are not configured properly to run PH Stat. |
| Professor Rachal was very helpful throughout the course. He responded to our emails quickly and
provided extra help if needed. |
| I learned a lot from your lectures. Thank you very much. |
| Content is a little difficult, but the professor is always willing to help |
| Really great professor who really proves that he cares about having students learn the material. Easy to ask questions and provides excellent assistance via resources, lectures, and personally. Great teaching style, other professors should adopt it. |
| Professor Rachal is a great instructor & it's not hard to notice that he is passionate about statistics & his students' success. |
| Professor Rachal is an exceptional professor and an excellent teacher. |
| One of the best teachers I've ever had. He cares about the students, and he
cares about them learning. |
| Rachal is a helpful teacher and I'm so glad I took BUS 310 with him. Even though his class started at
430, I didn't mind it at all because he knows how to teach the material. He needs a raise! |
| This class was really helpful; but, non-native student is little bit hard to understand when he
explained example in the lecture. |
| Proffesor Rachal is a great teacher. He has been doing this for a while and is very organized and sets his students up for successul. Will recemmend him to other students. |
| Chris really motivates you to understand the importance of statistics. Statistics is a tough course and he does a good job at explaining it. He makes you earn the grade and challenges you. The problem sets can be confusing, but it's only because statistics itself is not something easily understood. He is organized, prepared, has great communication skills, and he knows statistics in and out. He really cares about his students and wants us to succeed. I would recommend him to other students. His tests are tricky but if you get a good grade on it, you feel like you earned it. |
| Professor Rachal was extremely helpful and understanding. I really enjoyed this course, and I feel
confident that I learned a lot.
The only suggestion that I have would be a step by step class time help with the first few PhStats |
| Professor Rachal really knows his stuff and ensures that his student know it as well. He doesn't
leave anyone behind and is willing to go over anything that we don't understand. From day one you
really get the feeling that he doesn't just want to show up to class and lecture, but that he wants us
to really get it. He shows this in his efforts to make class interactive. The course material is well
prepared and ready for us through laulima. There isn't one thing that I would change about this
course. I came in thinking I wasn't going to get it, but it turns out that I get it and I am doing well.
Professor Rachal makes the difference. I have heard other students complaining about their BUS
310 professor in my other classes and thank my luck that I ended up in Professor Rachal's class
cause he really cares and is willing to change his teaching styles to ensure that 95% of the class
gets it. He even tries to work with the other 5% who aren't even trying, but Professor Rachal tries to
assist them where he can, but if you don't come to class or turn in assignments there isn't much he
can do to get you through. He rocks!!! I can't thank him enough for making my first semester in
Shidler a great one. Keep up all the hard work Chris and thanks for caring about your students as
more then ID numbers on your roster :) |
| I would strongly recommend Professor Rachal to anyone who needs a stats class, because knows
what he is doing, and you will really learn a lot in his class. Professor Rachal is also very helpful and
his passion for teaching is evident in the way he conducts himself in class. |
| Super cool guy, always happy and encouraging. |
| Hard subject. |
| Need to stay on topic, often changing subject about how we can do well at
work. |
| Great teacher! Professor Rachal knew what he was talking about, and was very well prepared for
class. I like how he had almost everything we would need up on Laulima from the very first day of
class. He was also helpful with homework, and I like how he let us work in groups because some of
the homework was challenging individually, but when you're in a group it made it much easier. He
is very good at answering questions in class, and is lectures are well organized. He doesn't go over
something if we don't need to know it. Very good teacher! One of my favorite professors so far
because of his good attitude, he is very knowledgable, well prepared, and very helpful. I was very
pleased with this class. |
| Very good teacher, went over material very clearly and easy to understand. One of the best classes I've ever had. |
| Professor Rachal is a great instructor. He truly cares about his students and makes sure no one is
falling behind. This class is also extremely organized, as all his lectures, handouts are on laulima
from day 1. He is also very inspirational about students futures. I would take any class from
Professor Rachal. |
| I learned a lot. The professor enforces us to ask for help when needed. |
| The class was fun and educational! Great Job |
| Thank you for your time and patience. It might help to consolidate all materials by chapter instead of having them separately (ex. a folder for notes, a folder for ppt, etc.) |
| This is not a glitch, overall, Professor Rachal is one of the most
informative and helpful professors in UHM. |
