21. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Going around and making time to talk with students and answer individual questions they may have had
He was very understanding and willing to arrange ways to help us students in passing his class.
Froning seemed to personally care for his students. He was very understanding of problems that arose.
Donald Froning showed concern for the students by keeping not only the class assignments posted on the school website, but he also kept a gradebook of all the assignments on the school website as well to let students know how they were doing on test scores and assignment grades, as well as their overall grade for the class. Donald Froning was the only teacher of my classes this semester that did so.
Always open to cover any misunderstanding concerns with students.
He asked questions to gauge our understanding of the materials discussed in each chapter and took time to go over anything we may have had a difficult time understanding.
He would always ask if you needed any help and allow you to catch up on the materials youve missed from previous sessions.
He always said "I don't want to try and figure out what you haven't learned. I want to give you a chance to show me what you have learned," and he acted on this mentality.
Froning asks the students if they have any questions.
22. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?
I disliked how we would watch a video and do study sheets. To me there was almost no reason to go to class, since everything we needed was on the study sheet.
I liked how he had us get into groups a lot to discuss our homework to one another and to get help from each other before we all come together as a class and he goes over the whole topic.
He tried to make the course fun. The videos he showed pertained directly to the material that was being taught. He also brought humor into his lessons. o
I especially liked Donald Froning's grading system, his connection to the students according to their interests; what the students wanted over what he wanted, and how he gave students the opportunities to improve their grade. Donald Froning also made it easy for students to catch up on work, make up work and improve on work through the online school website. There was nothing that I disliked about Donald Froning's course.
Loved how he ran class it was consistent and graded fairly
He showed us videos that complemented the reading for each section, which gave us different, and often unique, perspectives about the civilizations we try to analyze.
I like that he was really friendly and cared for the students in his class
I liked getting study guides which clearly outlined what I needed to know for the tests. I also thought the videos he showed were very interesting and relevant.
I liked that Froning shows a video about the subject, but dislike that he doesn't review as much about the sunject.
23. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Cool person, but makes class not very exciting
Amazing professor and fun class. I am actually taking another one of his classes next semester because i enjoyed this one so much.
Donald Froning is an excellent and effective teacher. He is fun, connective with the students and gets them to want to learn both in and out of classes.
I'd take his class and recommend others to take his class too.
He needs to work on his topical jokes. They should appeal to audiences from this era and not just people from earlier civilizations that we read about.
He is a great teacher who motivates students to do better and he exemplifies a lot of features/traits that I would consider in a good professor. I am most likely to take the next history course taught by him for that matter.
I have nothing else to say.
24. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?
No, class is not very interesting and can be seen as pointless
i would and have recommended him to anyone looking for or asking a history class.
I would recommend Donald Froning to other students because I know that they would enjoy taking Donald Froning's course, just as I and other classmates did as well.
Yes I would
Yes, I would. He makes this class fun and easy. The operative word being "easy".
yes because he is very nice and willing to teach by providing outside resources which helped me understand and learn about something that I believed was a bit boring.
Yes. He's clear about class expectations, tries to make history interesting, and provides you with the materials to succeed.
Donald is very nice to his students and makes sure that everyone understands the subject.
