14. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
All lectures were interesting and I had no trouble paying attention even through the four hour lectures!
I enjoyed the course content and the variety of lecturers.
videos, psa, clinical
Guest lecturers were great.
Subject matter experts
Family planning and contraceptive class was really interesting.
Case studies and projects. PSA was a great idea.
Carmen's guest lectures were insightful and thought provoking
The way Instructor Fox integrated light-hearted moments into her lectures, such as humerous video clips, in order to break up a 4 hour class block
Guest speakers were really good
I liked the variety of guest lectururs. Gave fresh views on various topics.
Guest lectures, videos, psa, alternative experiences
I like instructor's attitude and energy and experience that she used to inform the way that the lectures went.
reviews and rationales book. stories relevant to course material to exemplify issues. engaging lecturers. technicolor reading schedule.
15. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
The PSA assignment seemed like a waste of time.
4 hour lectures are too long, but that might not be feasible in MEPN.
the first test had material that was very controversial and did not represent what we had gone over in class.
Wish we could have heard more from our main instructor
Powerpoint lectures.
None.
Lectures that were too heavily focused on the powerpoint presentations
Watching the horrifying birth videos!!!
It was difficult that the instructor preparing the exams was not the one lecturing us. There was a big difference in the information lectured on and the material tested on.
The 4 hour length of the course made it at times difficult to really absorb the content.
Case studies
4 hours of straight power points is not an efficient way to learn.

15. My overall evaluation of this course is...
Instructor Fox did an exemplary job getting us into a clinical setting and ensuring we had a sufficient amount of experiences to make the most out of each day. It was a pleasure and an honor to work with her, and I eagerly look toward the opportunity to do so again
It was a great course. It was engaging and exciting. Instructor Fox was enthusiastic and proacive in ensuring we all got equal opportunities to learn. This was by far my favorite course.
Not that great. Like the lecture, it was enormous chunks of time in order to fulfill requirements. That is an effective strategy to check the box for requirements, but not an effective way to learn. There was tons of down time during clinical, which was not anyone's fault, but in the future I would not recommend that set up if the program values student's learning. Intermittent 8 hour shifts is better than 12 hour shifts crammed together.
I had a great experience!
16. Other comments:
I think that Mrs. Fox did an excellent job in a tough situation. And I'm sure that whoever was assisting her/taking charge of scheduling probably had very limited options. I understand that the bureaucracy and committees etc necessitate that MEPN students remain flexible and maintain a "take what comes with a smile" attitude. Still, the way this clinical was set up makes it difficult to learn. I will add that because of the nature of the job market, I have been working, trying to get my foot in the door where I can so I can pay my dues and ascent the nursing CNA-RN-and up ladder that the current Hawaiian nursing job market demands, and the way this program, and in particular this clinical is set up, that makes paying our dues next to impossible. I know MEPN has a don't work during the program attitude, but I think it might be doing its students a disservice by adopting that attitude because with no job to hit the ground running after we get done with the first year, we are in reality starting at a disadvantage compared to other nursing students (hospitals prefer BSN degrees for the most part). Maybe MEPN should rethink that aspect of the program.
