11. What things did you get from this course that will benefit you personally?
I learned how important it is to keep using the tools we are given in every possible situation even if that situation doesn't necissarily require them in order to devlope good habits and remember what we were taught.
I was able to see a long-term care facility I would never want myself or anyone I know to have to reside in.
Health Assessment is the key to being a great nurse
A greater knowledge and skill base for performing health assessments.
12. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?
Assessment really is the foundation of everything nurses do so getting a strong foundation like we did is invalubale.
Instructor Green's guidance and feedback was invaluable. She has a visible passion for her field, and I could genuinely feel her desire to pass on her experience to us.
health assessment skills and practicing it on each other
Simulation and being able to to practice on each other.
13. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?
Avalon Care Center is not a good place to have an assessment clinical.
The location was atrocious; it was very difficult to adequately practice our skills there.
going to a senior home and assessing seniors who were maybe not into it, maybe sleeping, maybe no able to be assessed. I did want to assess "Real" people and not just dummies or other students but really, the home was not a good use of time and very depressing.
The clinical site for this course was not helpful in applying the material we were learning in 504. There was not effective communication on the part of the clinical coordinator at Avalon. Kelly attempted many times to concat the coordinator to help improve our clinical experiences but she was unavailable and disinterested in our concerns. This greatly hindered my ability to apply the knowledge I was learning in 504 to real life situations.
Having lab first thing in the morning. I would have preferred to end my day with this lab because it was hands on and interactive versus sit in a 3 hour class filled with dense material.
