13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
she knew material very well and is very enthusiastic.
Her passion for teaching. Unlike other teachers I've had in the past, she had so much energy and enthusiasm. i knew she enjoyed teaching the subject of Anatomy and Physiology.
kara knows the topic really well, her lectures are very straight forward
She is very excited about the material which makes listening and being at class easier to do. When she teaches the material itself is hard so it's nice that Kara is a good teacher.
She knew exactly what she was teaching. She knew how to teach information to the class; she used good examples for us to understand the material better. She's a very fun teacher as well.
Her strengths as a teacher would definitely be the knowledge towards the subject.
very knowledgeable of the subect. Explains the material well.
Kara Miller really knew the subject that she is teaching. She is able to teach students in ways that makes them understand the concept really well. When something isn't clear to her students, she breaks it down and give examples for students to know it better.
Very organized teacher. She knew her subject really well. The subject where easy to learned with her own explanations.
She really knows the material and explains it well
Smart, knew her subject well, and always went above and beyond to make sure we understood the subject
Explaining things, but because of the class, it was such in a high tempo.
She knows her material well and she's really funny! She is a great person as well.
She is very helpful and is passionate about what she teaches. The class is very organized, so I knew what was expected.
She knows her anatomy we'll!
Strengths were being able to explain her material in a clear way, being able to have student understand her concepts
Explains material very well. Goes over steps of anatomy very well to where we can remember it. Always willing to answer questions. Only includes questions on test that were covered in class or on power points. Makes it very clear on what she wants us to remember.
knows the subject well
Knowing the subject area well and makes it a bit more fun.
I never, truly never from elementary school til last year liked science classes. Just too much to handle and keep a steady mental understanding, like looking at a single star in the sky then looking at a patch of sky, those stars and the space between, then the whole sky and zoom out zoom out zoom out,BOOOM blow my mind. For people who understand the difference between knowing and true comprehensions, that click in your mind, Professor Miller did that for me. She explained in different ways, with funny jokes, metaphors, demonstrations, etc. Her efforts, great knowledge, and passion are her major strengths.
She knew her stuff very well.
She really knows a lot about this subject and makes sure that we can go to her if we have any questions.
Knows the material very well, relateable and outgoing
Made the content easy to understand and gave us really good memorization tips for some harder content of the course. Always available to meet or talk if you had questions or help with a certain subject.
Her concern for students was a very huge thing. She is always there to help. Her teaching style was very helpful. She really knows what she's talking about and she's very interested in what she teaches.
to make sure that us students know the lesson carefully
shes a great teacher. she actually cares about her students learning. She is very staight foward.
She really knows her subject as she is trying to get her PhD as well with the subject she is teaching us.
Very happy and up beat. Keeps the class interesting.
she is a great instructor who knows her stuff.
She knows her subject, and because of this, you can ask any question and receive a fast answer.
Patient. Understanding. Excited about the subject material.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
none.
n/a
the class itself, makes you learn alot and there are definitely no changes needed to be made because the class was bery well organized.
No suggestions.
No changes.

None.
Probably, for quizzes is there way that the quizzes can be return. Sometimes it is return but sometimes not. It will be good to see for student what wrong questions that they received wrong. Proof read the exams there is some errors. It's a hard subject maybe provide a study guide.
None
slow down on explaining things, because it could get confusing but other then that shes great.
She should go a little slow on presenting the material. She should also make her explanations a little more simple, some students don't understand the lectures at times.
I think playing the animation/ videos that are on the powerpoint, during lecture, would be helpful.
None
No changes
Nothing really. Work load is perfect.
a new approach to teaching.
None.
Bring more models.
If there is any changes it would be to get study guides before exams.
The exams at the test center, I know that for some its ideal because you had to show us a picture but I like test that are on paper and many people do. I think that would have been helpful, or atleast provide an option because I was just one of those people who get nervous with computer test.

No changes. I really enjoyed her class!
None.
Would be best if we did test for each chapter instead of it being combined. Which crams the test.
I wish she had some kind of outline or something prior to actually starting the lectures, even if its just a slide saying we're gonna do this, this, and this. With that, it would allow me to make sure I'm getting all the notes I need to.
None
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
she would always be available through email when students had questions or concerns.
She gave students an opportunity to raise their grade by giving extra credit. She'd constantly ask if we had any questions or concerns throughout class. She gave me opportunities to make up quiz's when she clearly stated that there is no make up for in class quiz's for whatever reason. She was clearly concerned for my well being.
there are no questions on kara defenitely strives on students to be succesful, she even made it to thr point of students asking which they prefer best to get a better grade.
She encouraged us to see her whenever we needed help with something. Whenever someone would ask questions she would be happy to answer them.
She let everyone know that she was available to help students with any material or even studying techniques.
Kara Miller show concern for her students by making sure that we understand what was covered in her lectures. When ever students have any questions, she answers it very quickly via email or in person. She also keep us updated on our grades, by telling us how to calculate it. She even takes you to the medical school (if her permission is granted) to really get a good hands on learning which students can benefit from.
She always asked us if we have any question when it comes to subject. Always reminding us what are due the next days.
She asks for students that need help to talk to her
She was always willing to meet up if we had any confusion on the material
Made sure we understood and replied right away to emails.
She asked us if we had any questions or concerns. And if people were too shy to ask her, she waited a little bit after class so that they were able to ask her. She also let it be known that she has office hours and we could see her at any time during those hours.
She always makes sure that everyone understands the material and encourages us to ask questions. Has powerpoint slides available that make the learning process so much easier.
Always ask how we're doing or have any question or concern have a meet with her in her office .
She were open to her student by email, office or in class and after class
She never moved onto new material without asking the class if we has any questions. She always told us if we had any questions while studying to not be afraid to email her. She is a fair grader, gives us the material she wants us to know.
She would make time for you. Check up and follow up.
Emails reminding us about certain things for class.
She always lets us know if we have any questions to email her or ask her and she will try and help out.
Always providing an outlet for students to reach out to her if they needed help, and she also made a way for us to experience a once in a life time opportunity to visit the cadaver lab that I thought I would never be able to do. But it was because of professor miller that I had the courage to go and I'm glad I did.
First day of lecture in order to make sure we were on the right track with note taking she gave us some pointers and a sort of "test" to see where we were on taking notes and to steer us in the right direction. Always available after class or outside of class .
She would always tell us that if we ever needed help with anything to email her and she could meet with us at her office. She always emailed back quickly with any questions we had.
she gives a little review before starting a new topic in the lecture
She helped us see what grade we would be getting in her class, gave extra credit points to us when we didn't do too well on exams, and bonded with her students.
Asked us if we wanted the test online or in class. Also was very helpful whenever there was a question about something she went over.
She asks questions, regarding on what people did not understand. Also she gives examples to the students if we do not understand.
She is very easily accessible, if you just talk to her she will make time to meet you.
Went over parts on tests the students collectively did not do well on.

17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
She is an awesome teacher.
After taking a 3 year break from school, i thought it'd be hard for me to get in the groove of being a student while working and being a single parent. My biggest fear was taking on Zoology 141 under these circumstances.............. Long story short, i loved coming to class and studying the material. Professor Miller made it interesting for me.
I like that she posts grades on Laulima regularly, so we could keep track on what we are getting in class. Some teachers don't use the grade book, so I'm really glad that she uses it.
She is an awesome teacher.
She should teach zool 142. best anatomy teacher i've had
Kara Miller is an awesome person. She comes to class prepared and ready to teach the class. The energy that she brings into the class, makes students interested in learning the concept.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
The energy that she brings to the class.
Very organized and upbeat when lecturing. You can definitely tell that she wants her students to succeed.
She was very helpful and made sure we all understood certain important concepts before she moved on.
very candid when she demonstrated bones, very enthusiastic about her subjects.
perfect speech, gives good information of the lecture
Miller is very knowledgable about her subject. She enjoys teaching students and makes sure majority of the class understands the material being discussed.
Her personality is very outgoing and welcoming
Kara is very enthusiastic about sharing her subject matter, so as a student it's definitely motivating to be a part of that class. I also like the fact that she goes along with the syllabus schedule and you always know what to expect for each class meeting.
Kara's major strength is obviously her expertise in the field. She is like a little walking encyclopedia of all things anatomy and physiology. She had a strong voice and confident demeanor.
She's young and understands exactly what students are going through
Had alot of energy and came to class ready to teach. Making the students feel comfortable while learning.
Kara is very knowledge professor that is able to think on the level on a college student to get us to understand.
She is able to explain the information in the textbooks where students can grasp ideas more easily than if they were to read by themselves. She gives good examples and students can easily relate to them.
Good at summarizing/paraphrasing the book.
Miller knew her material
Kara is a very engaging speaker and she was able to keep the interest of the class. She also knows the material very well and created useful acronyms for terms that were difficult to memorize.
very passionate about the subject
She is energetic and tries to provide the clear lecture.
Kara has a high energy level and are passionate about the content in zoology. She explains the material in an easy understandable way and she makes up repeat the material for better learning.
Ms. Miller was able to clearly teach the material. She showed knowledge of subject matter and was able to teach in a way that was easily understood.
Entertaining and friendly. Great energy! She made learning this difficult material fun and exciting!
she has a massive amount of information and study tools that she provides the students.. the best thing is that even though she knows her information she doesn't have trouble conveying it to students.. the students don't feel completely overwhelmed by the lectures making it easier to cope with the topics at hand..
Her major strengths as a teacher would have to be her knowledge of the subject area being taught and that she demonstrates her knowledge in a clear and detailed powerpoint which is used during the lecture. Her teaching style is efficient and understandable to many of her students. During class, she elaborates more on the information she tried to explain in the powerpoint. At a certain point in class, she would stop and ask us if we have questions on what we just covered so far before continuing on the new material.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Learn the material better.
None
Proof read her exams before she posts it so that theres no typos or anything.
A change that i would suggest is to update quizzes promptly.
To be a little bit more organized with her lectures
Perhaps make more group work?
Get grades updated and posted promptly. If you don't students will become less motivated. If you are going to have as many quizzes they need to be described in the syllabus. We deserve to know what material we will be quizzed on for respective dates. Although we could just ask you we should not have to, it should be listed on paper. Get rid of the built in extra credit on exams. In order to get any we have to score perfectly and beyond and you know how unlikely that's going to be. Although I do believe in rewarding students for their dedication to learning material extra credit would be better used as a teaching tool. Why not try and assign a creative project asking students to make a song about a topic? Setting aside time in class to present these will surely result in learning material and get students to interact and learn more together. Also creative learning is an excellent path toward higher understanding which I know you are concerned about. Your acronyms were great and I wont forget them, include much more of them in your course! Incorporate social media. I have a professor that uses twitter with her own hash tag as an extra credit opportunity. Tweets, re-tweets, and comments are worth a point (up to a maximum) and encourage learning. For example, points given for tweets showcasing some weird and gross pathology...might get interesting. Encourage students to utilize Laulima discussion as a learning tool. I was surprised that there were no students interacting there because in past classes there were tons posting study links and materials. Discussion is a powerful tool so maybe post a topic or two and give some EC or course points there. Make good questions like "What experiences have you had with broken bones and what in this weeks material gave you a better understanding of what was going on?" Points could be given for responses too. Fact of the matter is that much of life is online these days, may as well make good use of it. Incorporate more visual props. Get a laser pointer and point to structures as you are lecturing, boom, two possible avenues of retrieval for later. One thing that was really cool in a past class was that right after given a quick lecture on material we were asked to write down everything we could remember on a piece of paper. Then the instructor went from person to person asking what they wrote and we discussed them. This forced us to actively participate and kept things interesting.
Go more into detail of the material
I know that through the powerpoints presented during class for lecture were posted on laulima but Im sure there are students that dont go on and look at it. Suggestion would be to slow down a bit if possible because the slides did fly by really fast.
More take home quizes would be nice. its a good way to apply the knowledge we've gained.
Lectures should be taught from the book instead of her personal powerpoints because when attending class, only information from the powerpoints are used. Homework requires a lot of reading and if some of that reading was done in class (thru lecture), homework load for reading would be easier. Too much reading, not enough time.
Quizzes should be tested on lecture only, not from self readings.
This course is a hard course and i would suggest study guides to help prepare for the test. There is so much material I didn't really know what to focus on.
The only thing I would suggest is that next time you give the students an update on our grade. Because there are so many exams and quizzes, it is hard to know what your current grade is in the class, and it is helpful to know this so you know if you have to work harder to get a better grade to pass the class.
she needs to work on the pronunciation of the terminology
No changes.
Make test questions slightly more clear. And perhaps have the tests proofread.
only change I would make is that it would have been great to also be able to choose her as a teacher for 142.. but unfortunately she only teaches 141 currently..
I believe that her teaching system is great now that I don't think there would be any changes that I prefer.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would frequently ask questions to see if we understood everything.
She was always open to recovering material that we didn't quite understand.
She would help anyone who needed it. Any questions we had she answered to the best of her abilities.
ask question after finish exam/test, such as: "is the question ok?/ is it enough time to complete?"
She asks the class if we have questions or any concerns on the material. She also tells us to e-mail her if there was something that we did not understand. She tries her best to teach the class ways in which the material can be understood.
She sent out constant emails, which was nice
Always made sure that everyone was on the same page and that students felt comfortable and free to ask any questions that they had.
She stopped to explain things in great detail and was free to answer any questions during class time.
Mentioned class average and how to study/improve
Always having reminders and letting us know when our exams were open.
She encouraged us both as ZOO students as well as people to progress and thrive.
She went over material that students had trouble understanding multiple times in depth in class.
Asked questions and went over any unclear areas.
She slowed down when we needed help in lecture
She gave us a lot of quizzes and allowed us to drop our 3 lowest grades; this will help everyone's grade.
email responses prompt
She always asks students if they have any questions or not.
She repeated the material for better learning and she was available through email.
Prompt response to emails.
She's amazing! Always available to talk and very understanding of outside problems such as work and being sick.
she was very adaptable and understanding with students who kept open lines of communication.. if timing or schedules didn't work out she was more than willing to give students a chance to makeup as long as they had and gave reasoning..
She showed her concern for us by asking us every class time if we have any questions about the material from previous lecture or before we take the exam if we have any questions or concerns of our preparation to take the exam. If there were questions about a certain section of the chapters, she would dedicate a certain amount of time in class to explain the material that we didn't understand again until we had a full picture of what is going to be on the exam.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
She's a good teacher but she would be a lot better with a better understanding of the material.
Yes!! She is awesome and I found this class very interesting.
Yes because she's nice, makes class interesting, and is a great teacher that knows the material well.
yes I would! she's an amazing teacher!
i would recommend, because she gives a lot of space for the student to think about the lessons
Yes I would recommend her to students. She is not only knowledgable, she is also very kind and funny. She wants her students to do well on exams and teaches encourage us to think outside the box.
Yes if they can keep upon their own with the material
i would recommend Kara to other students because her energy is definitely refreshing, especially because the subject matter is a bore. Unfortunately, even though she's a great teacher, you still really need to study the content to get a good grade for the class.
Not at this point no. I do feel that she has the potential to become an outstanding instructor.
Yes. She's understanding and very approachable
Yes. Very fun and cool teacher. Makes the class more enjoyable instead of a boring lecture class where you just sit there and dose off.
yes, as long as you study you will be fine.
Yes because she is good.
I would recommend her
Yes, I would recommend her to other students because she is an engaging teacher and genuinely cares about how you do in her class. She also knows the material very well and can break down the lessons so everyone understands.
yes shes a good teacher
Yes, I would strongly recommend Kara for all the reasons that I have written above.
Ms. Miller is fair. You will earn your grade in her class, she doesn't give it away, but if you study and read the material a good grade is easily something a student can obtain.
Absolutely! Her class was very enjoyable
definitely.. a great teacher all around.. loves her field and shows it when teaching.. who best to learn from than someone teaching something they love..
Yes, I would recommend her to other students who are interested in taking Zoology 141. Based on my experience of her class, I feel like that she provides a good atmosphere for students to learn more about the subject being taught. She explained the material very clearly and detailed for us to understand. If we had questions about the section we were on, she would go back and explain it again until we fully understand the material. I believe that her teaching style would be what other students expect from a teacher.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
I really liked how Ms. Miller would email us to remind us about upcoming assignments and test.
I really enjoyed taking Kara's zool141 lecture class. She made it as easy as possible for us to learn the material and was very helpful. Great teaching.
Miller enjoys teaching us students and tries her best as a teacher to make sure we understand the material.
She is very sweet and has great examples
None.
Kara is passionate about her field and it shows in her lecture. Just the delivery needs to improve.
She cool.
Thanks for the semester. Really glad I took your class. Was a fun experience on learning zoology. You made it less intimidating.
i enjoy the fact that she is still a college student and understands out struggles.
None.
You project very well when you speak, but sometimes when you speak too fast, you tend to mispronounce the words and this can sometimes be a problem because when it come to the exam, I am not sure what the right answer is.

Love her! Great class! Very knowledgeable, and great at teaching the information to students. Thank you Kara!

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She is very knowledgeable with her subject area of teaching. She knew all the parts whenever we had asked where something was. She would explain things to us in a way that we could comprehend without making us feel nieve. She loves what she does and it shows.
She is organized and energetic.
Her passion about the subject that she teaches
passionate about the subject
You can tell that she really cares about her students and she listens to their concerns and suggestions.
She took her time to explain the material. She authentically wants students to learn. I appreciate the fact that she knows that we are working college students. Her flexibility is great!
Kara you can tell loves what she does and she's really great at it. She is very interactive with her students both verbally and visually. If a student is stuck or confused or simply has a question based on the material she explains it into detail and also talks about more examples that may relate to the topic
She is a great teacher who knows her subject area. She is also very kind and interactive with her students. She makes her class very fun.
Her love for the subject
understanding
She knew the materiel very well and is enthusiastic to teach. She also relates some of the materiel to stories or examples from her experience.
she was very knowledgable and knew her subject. She was always open to helping us to try our best and when we had questions she's always have an answer or helped us find an easier way to study for our exam. She was always be available for us. She's caring and is always understanding..
She knows her material very well and enjoys teaching it
Enthusiastic Genuinely nice Patient Knowledgeable
She was very knowledgeable about the subject! She was very organized and brought great energy to the class.
She is very organized, knowledgeable, and makes material fun an interesting.
Kara not only knew her material extremely well, but her enthusiasm for the content was awesome. It made me more interested and motivated me a lot to study harder and enjoy class.
she is very enthusiastic and knows the subject really well
She knew the subject very well & was very passionate about it as well.
She was very well organized.
She is very enthusiastic about A&P, especially exercise physiology. She was very knowledgeable in her area!
Has knowledge in what she teaches
Very bubbly, which makes the class exciting. Very knowledgeable about the subject and passionate. Provides quirky pneumonics to make things easier to memorize.
She really knows what she is teaching and creates methods that make the material relevant and easier for the students to understand.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
No changes
Changes I would suggest is that she doesn't inform her students about how to do assignments (creative images, lab report, etc) and doesn't verbally say what is due. Miller just hands out a calendar on the first day of class and expects you to know what to do and how to do it. Miller is also late to class a lot by about 5 min. This makes it hard to ask questions before class starts to clarify or get help. Miller also doesn't answer to emails promptly.
Class schedule was sometimes a little confusing.
really needs improvement on the pronunciation of the terminology
Sometimes class is not quite as structured.
I request no changes
None, her class was great.
To be a little more organized with things
na

Be quicker with grading assignments.
none
It would have been nice for Kara Miller to be a little bit more proactive during the model section of the lab. Although that portion of the lab is supposed to be group individuals maybe doing check-ins as a class to keep students on track.
Maybe she should make the test questions a little bit less than what she is making them now. Also for the slides she should put the answer key when she gives us it to study. Because it was hard for me to study without the answers.
Explaining the lab and procedures since many of the labs we had, we needed to complete just by reading off of the handouts which were out of date and very unclear. The daniels manual we needed for class which included many of the lab procedures was not her fault though. She had explained to us how she also felt we needed up to date textbooks.
nope
None
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would make sure we understood things and would never hesitate to help when needed. She would answer all our questions as soon as we asked.
She would come to some groups in lab and explain more in depth when we had questions. But it would help more if she said it in front of the class because there was some information that other groups got that really helped, its just I had to be informed by other students.
She was open for questions during or after class and and answered with a sincere and friendly manner.
one on one teaching
Yes she does.
She allows us to learn at our own pace.
She allowed her students to do an in class extra credit and that shows a lot of effort she put into the extra credit and also how much she wants her students to receive higher better grades
She always helped us out and asked if we needed anything.
She was always making sure were on track and knew what we need to complete
tips on how to study
yes all the time. She would try her best to get to know us and relate to us.
always helped when you ask for help
Answered questions Gave fair chances Understanding
She was very fair and understanding. If you just kept in touch with her and let her know your concerns she response positively back to you. She also responded back to my emails very quickly!
Kara always made sure our questions were answered.
yes, she made sure we could understand the material and would tell us what things needed to be done and when. also she would make sure we studied the right things for the exams.
She made herself available to answer questions and always provided examples that helped connect the material with everyday experiences.
She asked us when we had questions.
Got to know us better by having conversations, not necessarily about the subject itself. Her passion for the subject made us more interested and eager to learn.
She was accomodating if you couldnt make it to class and was always there in class to answer questions. My sister went in to labor on the first day of class and she was understanding and still gave me a chance to do the work that I was missing that day.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend Miss Miller to other students because she is a really caring teacher. She wants you to learn and will always help you whenever you need it. She one time let a lab student of hers sit in one of her lecture classes so that her student could understand the material better. She is willing to help whatever the cost.
She wouldn't be the first I would recommend but I would recommend her maybe as a third choice.
Yes. She loves what she does, and it shows the difference.
yes
Yes. Because she does care about students and it shows. She'll take the time to explain it.
Yes, all around good TA.
I would recommend Kara to other students. Though I just had her as a lab I wish I had her as my lecture teacher as well. She really guides you through the course materials in a fun and exhilarating way

Kara, it was a joy being in your class this year, thank you for answering my subject questions and showing concern for my academia
She's awesome.
She was very open to explaining concepts
she is good at what she does. Any who takes her class is lucky to have her as an instructor...
Good teacher brings a good relaxed vibe to class while still teaching knowledgeable info
Excellent and sweet teacher/person!
She is an excellent teacher and I have learned a lot! She explains things very well back when you have any question about the body.
I would love to have her as a ZOOL 142L professor.
i enjoyed being in her class because she was so enthusiastic and she was very helpful.
She knew what she was talking about.
she is a great teacher

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She made class fun & interesting. She gave lots of examples and would continue to go over things until everyone was clear.
She knows her subject area and was quite diversified in teaching her students about the anatomy of the human body.
has a passion for teaching. wants students to do well, so her teachings reflected it.
She is very helpful and was also was always available when I needed assistance
Kara Miller has incredible pronunciation. As a student that has English as a second language it was incredibly helpful to me for Kara Miller to have such a clear and precise delivery when it came to her lectures.
She really knows what she's talking about. She's very enthusiastic and seems very happy to be there which provides a more positive learning environment.
She gets the class to be involved as well as encourage proper study habits.
I loved we. She did everything she could to help us understand the subject. Whether it was interactive classes or taking the time to answer questions. She was always willing to help.
She knows the material rather well.
She adjusts her teaching and the delivery of the material in a way that helps the students learn the material and retain the information.
-enthusiasm -engages students -able to explain concepts easily -activities -puts herself out to help students
Kara was interactive with her students. Her lectures were not boring. She befriended her students but at the same time kept her authoritative figure. Kara explained the course material well, asked questions in lecture, and got her students to feel comfortable enough to ask any questions they had on the lecture material.
Kara is very knowledge able with this subject. She gives examples to help me as a student better understand what she's talking about. She also give good acronyms to help me remember the order of certain functions and placements of bones, muscles and such. Kara as a good bubbly personality which makes the class less boring, usually teachers that just talk make students feel bored and that the teacher doesn't care, but Kara is very interactive with us and does her job really well.
She really knows the subject! She always offered help whether it was through email, class lectures or office hours. She also let us know ahead of time what the test will cover and what to really pay attention to.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Instant feedback on exams taken in the testing center. I find it is easiest for me to learn what I did wrong while the information is still very fresh in my brain.
N/A
more candy lectures =) j/k.
Hands On Memorization Activities
None
Kara Miller has a tendency to provide too much information at one time. It is difficult to follow due to the volume of information that one has to study. At times, I feel as if information that was not presented at class was asked on the test. Finally, the way she approached the type of information was a bit high for a 100 level course.
Possibly more student interaction/ questions during class.
Perhaps more activities. Otherwise change is not necessary.
Nothing! Great job.
None
N/A
Kara's class is all based upon exam, although extra credit is given out frequently it still puts the student in a bad position if the student places poorly in the exam. I think she should assign test so that a student can study off it and know what kind of question could be asked on a real exam. Also review with the students before and after class to make sure the student understands what they had read the previous night and understand what she went over during class.
Talk to administration about making the class longer instead of 50 minutes. Atleast an hour & a half so that lectures arnt so rushed. I also think 3 chapters is alot to be tested on in one exam
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
If you were lost with the material she assisted, Always emailed right back. Was flexable to what the students needed as well as pushed us.
By being available to students via email, even office hours, and a flexible meeting time.
gave many opportunities for students to succeed with homework that requires us to know the material, as well as an incentive to do the HW. Constantly emailed everyone, keeping everyone informed what is going on in the class.
She was always avaliable
Kara Miller to extra time out of her day to specifically help me and assist me with understanding the material since I am a ESL student. She dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and effort to so I could understand the material clearly.
She was very open and willing to help, always answered emails promptly and offered help outside of office hours as well.
She asks if we are on the same page as well as let us know through out the course that she is available to help out.
She asked us how we were doing. If we understood or needed help. She also asked u how she could change anything so it wouldn't be as difficult. She accepted feedback from her students to help us.
She communicated with students via, email or cell phone to accommodate student's questions.
She is always available to assist the students, she addresses issues in the class, she constantly tries to engage the class so that we learn.
will ask students in class and through emails if students need any help and takes time in class to answer any questions a student may have on the subject
She would go more in depth with the material her students had trouble learning.
Kara has a researcher mind. She likes to make sure she isn't doing anything wrong and makes sure that her students feel confident about what their learning. She tells us to complete survey's like this to help better understand her flaws and strengths. She also asks us before class starts how are we doing and if we have any questions about anything. Kara makes sure that her students can succeed to their highest extent.
She always offered help, during & outside of class. She answered any questions that neede to be answered.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, she made my most freightening class a joy and no over welhming.
Of course, Kara is a great teacher and I am glad to have taken this class from her.
Yes! wish she was teaching 142! always full of energy and consistent with her teaching techniques. tests were reasonable and reflected the material covered.

Yes. I learn a lot from that class. She a great teacher and really nice
I would recommend her to anyone that wants to understand the Human anatomy and physiology due to her in-depth knowledge of the subject. She has a deep passion for teaching this subject.
Absolutely. I feel like she isnt a really easy teacher in the sense that you can't just slide through. If you pay attention and study you'll pass with a good grade, but you really are learning in her class.
Yes because she does well to give you strong background knowledge of human anatomy.
Yes, definitely. I already have.
Yes! She is the teacher to take if you want to LEARN and RETAIN the material!
i would highly recommend her to other students because shes a very good teacher and a lot of her students agree that she teaches the course well
Yes, I would recommend Kara to anyone who has to take ZOOL-141 or ZOOL-142L. The answered survey questions above display my reasons.
if your a fast paced learner then Kara is a right teacher for you. She expects students to shine. In her class you would have to read every chapter on your own in order to understand what she's talking about in class.
I would recommend Kara to students who like fast past learning and who is able to take in alot of information at once because she does speak fast & she covers alot of material in one lecture
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

The material she teaches will be used in my profession- already using information learned in her class with my other classes and job.
She is very nice and caring
She has a deep rooted passion for teaching. She truly wants her students to understand the materials versus just going through the motions. She spends a lot of time with her students to ensure they keep with subject versus giving up. She provides an intense sense of motivation for her students.
Thank her for being such a committed teacher.
She is very cheerful and encouraging.
You are a wonderful teacher. I love anatomy. Although it is hard, if I put my mind to it I can do great. You are an awesome teacher. Thank you.

She is highly educated.
Knowing the material that was lectured and in lab.
She knows the subject matter thoroughly
-enthusiasm -knows course subjects well - good at explaining confusing topics to students
very knowledgeable! shes a great teacher and definitely knows her anatomy!

When students expressed concerns about their grades or asked for clarity in assignments, Kara was able to quickly adapt and provide a clearer explanation. Her upbeat personality made the class more enjoyable.
Some of Ms. Miller's major strengths as a teacher are she's really concern for her students and she make sure every information provided in lab were clear. She also is well organized and responds to emails quickly as possible.
Always having a positive attitude, which is great to have in everyone but especially teachers.
She was very informative, very knowledgeable in the subject.
She was really knew the subject matter and could relate to the age group of the class made the enviorment feel welcoming and relaxed.
She was very organized and very enthusiastic towards teaching
Kara Miller lets the students work by themselves first to encourage individual learning then she helps them whenever students encounters a problem.
I feel like a great strength of you as a teacher is your desire to really help the students understand the material. I have had multiple good experiences of getting help, even after class time. I am also satisfied with the time taken to help students study by creating power points as a guide.
-Easy to approach -Fun class setting making it easier to learn in -Making students aware of study materials
Kara is very knowledgeable with her explanations, I learned a great deal from her walking around the lab with a model in hand and pointing out specific things. I feel that she provided application because she put real scenarios into her teaching.
she understood what she was teaching very well. I was never afraid or shy to ask her any question. I have had experiences with teachers in the past who made me feel stupid for asking questions, I never felt that way with her. When ever I emailed her a question she was very quick to respond.
She's a good teacher. Always challenging us to think for ourselves.
Major strengths was on the whole class
She was very knowledgeable with the subject and encouraged us to do independent study but was always eager to help answer any questions and go in depth with the material. She was very clear and fair with quizzes and exams. Though she changed the syllabus a little with our new way to do exams she gave a chance to adopt and even offered extra credit.
Knows her subject very well
Knows material well. Organized and efficient.
She knew the materials and she would pre quiz us if we knew a little about it before we would actually do the experiments
Her teaching desires and understanding her subject well.
She knows the subject material, and she presents the material in a way that encourages learning.
easily relate-able and very helpful!
She makes learning the material fun and easier to understand. Her excitement filters throughout the class. She is very knowledgeable and helps you apply the complex information to everyday life and how it affects your body. Great teacher!!!
Very knowledgeable. Made class fun and conducive to learning.
kind,friendly and helpful
She's a good teacher. She breaks down most if not all of the course topics into more simpler/layman's termed themes.
She answers any questions we may have & provides explanations that can be easily understood
I think Professor Miller had a great understanding of her subject and was able to answer any and all questions with knowledge and ability.
She had great energy and was excited to teach her students about the human body. She wasnt only a teacher but a mentor as well. I LOVED her!
She explains things very well and if she doesnt know, she will find out.
Working/learning with Ms. Miller was a pleasure. She is well educated and was able to answer anatomy questions and bring fun learning into our lab practicals. She was very willing to answer questions and show us all aspects of our lab practicals.
She knew her material.
She was a very involved teacher. She made learning less rigorous and more fun. She shared her own experiences and storied, related to topic, with the students which I appreciated. Overall good attitude.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
N/A
None
no changes, everything was great!
None
Seemed to talk in a very condescending manner especially since it was a introductory class. Very sarcastic and seemed to have little patience. Definitely treated certain students better than others.
group work muscle experiment paper! having one person in the group doing the work and giving everyone else the credit for easy opportunity to earn the A another student achieved isn't fair. Experiment wise very interesting, writing a group paper not so effectively especially when others don't contribute! Basically stayed up all night emailing back and forth when a student said her phone broke, and her phone actually didn't break clearly it was working when she came to class. Very upsetting about this project.
One thing that could be improved is the format for the class assignments/ calendar. It was a bit confusing at first to know what assignments were due and what topics were being discussed. The second schedule (update) was a lot more helpful.
I don't think changes are needed, she did manage the lab very well. Everything is well organized.
More detailed information about what piece of literature needed to used for specific assignments.
I do not suggest any changes.
No changes.
-Just keep on doing what your doing!
The testing was not great for me. The best one was the first one where we did an actual lab practical. I found it harder to study pictures and apply them later, I would have been more motivated to spend more time with the models if we were tested on them.
I was confused about the extra slides and how to access them. I asked a couple of times how to access them and I was told it should be in my email accout. So I was thinking my gmail, I did not realize there was a kcc account till now. So that's the only thing I would point out. She's a teacher who is qucik to respond and knew what she was teaching well, enthusiastic about teaching, and never made me feel shy about asking questions. I just think it would had helped me if she had mention a kcc account existed.
Maybe give more extra credit, as it was kind of hard for me
I would suggest that she would give more questions with a couple exams she offered but she did indeed offer extra credit. She was a great instructor.
Physiology experiments were a bit weak Would have liked to studied cadaver anatomy a bit more even if slides as Models have a unrealistic look Exams need more questions would liked to have been tested on every structure at the minimum
N/a
I don't think if she needs changes! just keep up with what you have Kara:)
None at all.
Start teaching zoology 142 as well :)
None that immediately come to mind.
None, that I can think of.
I really dont think she needs to improve anything. Her class was perfect!
None.
As Ms. Miller is a very generous and accomidating teacher. Our course material would be better presented if the syllabus and lab review material were better organized before start of course. As we had a lot of fun learning, class was a little difficult to understand what was expected of us and when material was due. If Ms. Miller could be better prepared for the lab practicals, class and lab praticals might run a bit smoother also. We learned all material but difficult to understand what was expected of us.
Don't change anything, besides some minor mistakes involving being new to KCC as a teacher.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Answered all questions, and helped students during experiments.
Extra credit
being interactive and making the teaching environment fun!
She is easy to talk to and communicates via email. She encourages our feedback
- asks is students need any help in class and through emails - will talk to students when they need help in and out of class
No.
responded quickly to emails, answered all questions in a great way for understanding.
She was always available to answer our questions during class and outside (i.e. email). During our lab experiments, she would check up on us to make sure we were understanding the material and tried to be more interactive and hands-on. I liked that. I thought it helped me understand the material better and be motivated to learn more.
She showed it by answering my emails as soon as possible and she welcomes students in her office anytime she's there.
" you werent in class the other day i was worried that maybe you were sick". - kara miller.
Answered any questions we had promptly
Yes Kara should great concern for students. She was very accomidating about how we turned in work (email, drop box, hand in during class) Allowed a one week time period to take test becasue she undertands that not everyones schedules dealing with school, work and home are the same or as flexible as each other. Provided extra tools to help to prepare us for test well in advance of testing periods.
She provided extensions to exams and extra credit credit exams.
Discussed in number 13.
-Consistently made us aware of when assignments were due and tests as well. -Encouraged us to study certain materials in advance.
Any concern that I raised to Kara from day one was addressed promptly and professionally. I really feel that she went out of her way to be accomodating to the class.
By being very quick to respond to emails. Always happy to answer questions in class and take the time to explain anything till I understood the answer.
She asked us if we had any problems, come see her and let her know we need help.
She made sure everyone understood the subject we had discussed for each class
She did show care for days i was sick and couldn't make it to class. She also let me make up quizzes and exams and even gave me extra time to study when recovering from a sickness.
Seemed to care we understood material Very helpful when we asked questions
By helping in test preparation. Readily available and very knowledgable.
In a effective ways which makes her good!
By giving ample time to complete assignments, and extra credit opportunities, to improve grades.
She understood how important our test scores were and posted them within two hours of the class. She also was really happy to help us understand the information and helped to break it down, she stayed when she could have left.
Kara was very helpful in explaining things when students were stuck. She exercised safety well.
By providing hours of visitation, and by also reviewing over course material that seemed a bit dense to the students.
She allowed us to provide feedback and showed genuine interest to what we had to say.
She always wanted to make sure that we completely understood the material before she continued onto anything further. She was extremely interactive with our class and always hands-on.
She is very persistent in finding the answers you may not know and will make sure you know the material.
Ms Miller is VERY accomidating to students and their needs, please don't change that aspect of her.
She asked the students whether an online test or in class test would be more fitting. In this she is trying to accommodate to us instead of not caring. She would consistently ask if we needed help during a lab. She was very sympathetic to problems involving a group lab report by giving us all a fair chance.

Yes. As stated before from the previous questions, she is a great teacher.
Definitely!
Yes!! She has a great attitude and personality and you can very well see that she is passionate about her subject. I also like that she is still a student as well and learning just like us.
Yes, she is very straight forward, and will help you out with anything you have questions on.
Yes! she brings interesting facts into learning so it's easier to retain information.
Yes I would, she's very interactive and looks like she enjoys teaching and excited about the subject. She really knows what she is talking about. Her tests aren't too easy but they are also not extremely hard. She won't test her students on anything that was not taught or on assignments. She is also a teacher that is concerned about how the class feels about something or questions that you may have but she won't baby you, which is a good thing.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
N/A
Nothing mUch
Nothing, everything went smooth!
She shares her knowledge and tips to what helped her learn the material which is very helpful
students like her enthusiasm
group papers/project= negative! This should have been done in pairs.
She is an excellent teacher and she is always open to suggestions/ criticism, etc. I can tell that she wants to improve, to be the best she can, which students can greatly benefit from. Her personality and the way she conducted the class made the material a lot less overwhelming and difficult.
I would like to thank her for everything, for making me realize that i can manage to complete this course. I've repeated this course so many times that i almost gave up, but she showed me courage and motivated me to do good in this course.
Great teacher i hope to have her again maybe as a lecture teacher if she teaches more courses.
I really enjoyed her class.
I had an awesome semester actually really enjoyed this class I did feel as if a lab was supposed to feel easy. Of course I need to study the material but not once was I stressed out or worried that I wasnt doing well.
I would like to congratulate her for doing a great job on her first year at KCC.
Awesome instructor!!! Very knowledgeable in her field of study!!
-Great teacher overall, and one of my favorites thus far.
