13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She's very knowledgable in this subject and teaches very well. Her Powerpoint's are very understandable and helpful for the tests.
I think that her strengths as a teacher included: -Knowing her subject area in depth -Making the class fun and interesting -Understanding the pressure that students have, and thus, tries to make the course as stress-free as possible
Her ability to teach the class in a productive way
-Organized
Teaching style and explanations are clear and easy to understand.
She has a sense of humor and simplifies information that is unclear to the class.
Her knowledge and attitude.
Kara Miller's major strengths as a teacher were that she provides clinical scenario examples and a variety of ways to help us students learn and understand the human body. Miller's class was very intensive but students would be able to apply this knowledge to many different careers in the medical or fitness field.
She was very knowledgable about her subject.
Ms. Miller was very enthusiastic which made the class and material fun to learn.
She knows the subject very well and conveys it clearly in class.
Very enthusiastic while teaching the material.
Professer Miller knew A&P really well. She has a good way of explaining things well. She would ask if we understand, rather than just keep going on with the lecture.
She knows how to teach her subject, she responds to students inside and outside of class, she cares about her students, and she is a professional.
She knows her major really well. Very intelligent professor.
As a teacher, she explains the material very clear and gives us tips of how to remember the subject. She is very well organized and always updates us of the class schedules if there are any changes and if we have any suggestions as well.
Kara's strength is life experience. She teaches the subject matter as she would have liked to be taught it the first time around as an ATC. I am an ATC and appreciate all the new techniques, the experiences, the mnemonics and different ways to teach the subject matter in clinical, layman's and class technical ways. She makes the subject matter easier to learn when she uses life experience examples.
She knows what she's talking about! Very punctual with emails! She gave a lot of helpful ways to memorize things we had gone over in lecture.
She is really good at displaying the learning materials.
Her strengths are keeping the class engaged. I don't really ever see anyone sleeping or dozing off too much. Also she explains everything really well and gives a lot of good advice on how to do well in the class as well as on exams.
She was very knowledgeable about the subject and her lectures were easy to follow. I really liked that all the lecture powerpoints were uploaded to laulima as well some other study guides.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Make the class more engaging
No changes.
Upload revised powerpoints. Powerpoints on Laulima were from previous semesters which have since been edited (new slides, rearranged order of slides, etc.)
STUDY GUIDES!
None
No changes necessary.
None.
Throughout the course, she was a little disorganized and made so many changes to the schedule, which was a little annoying. I guess she was busy as well because she fell behind on some of the lectures and didn't give the class as many quizzes as expected/needed.
The only change i would make is maybe slow down the lecture a little bit. She flies through the lectures and for me sometimes it was too fast. On the other hand there is a lot of info to cover.
Pictures on her exams
No suggestions here.
I don't have anything to suggest.
Slowing down when lecture topics were a lot to take in and understand.
Nothing.
No changes needed. Ms. Miller's teaching style is the best out of the ZOOL teachers I've had at KCC

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She continuously checked up on the class to see if we had questions prior and throughout the lectures.
During the course, Ms. Miller has shown her concern for her student by adjusting the exam schedules to allow more time to study, reviewing difficult subject matter multiple times, and always making sure that we understood the new material before moving on to newer topics.
she always told us if we needed help but she taught well enough not even ask questions
Stresses review and gave more than enough extra credit opportunities.
Professor Miller made her office hours available to her students
Always time for questions.
Kara Miller showed concern for her students by providing powerpoints from the lecture to help students prepare for exams. She also provided many examples while lecturing the class in a clear and knowledgeable way. Miller would also notify students about online or in-class quizzes and when exams are due.
She made herself available to students if they needed help.
She always made sure if anyone had any questions and wanted to make sure everyone was ready for the exams.
She tells us to email her if we have any concerns with our grade
She answered her emails quickly and always told the class important reminders on upcoming quizzes/exams.
She gives us the opportunity to stay for a little while after class if we have any questions or problems. She also replies back to emails in a promptly manner.
She always told us to email her asap if anything happens or if we have any questions. I emailed her a few times and she always replied quickly. As a student that is very important to have good communication with the professor. She always welcomed students to her office, if we had anything to discuss.
She is always there for us to ask questions, she will try to help you understand with your way of learning. She sends reminder emails and reminds us in class. Her quizzes directly relate to the exam. She gives you all the parts to succeed. Zoology 141 is a hard class and she makes it manageable. With hard work, she gives her students the tools to get an "A" with understanding the material for future use and not just memorization.
She allowed them to take quizzes and exams later if something critical came up. She always got back to me if I had a concern and offered help.
She would let us know that if we have any concern with the class to come see her or email her she would love to help us.
She encouraged students to ask questions during class and was always willing to re-explain and expand on whatever material people were having difficulties with.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, she is a great teacher and always has a positive attitude when teaching.
Yes, I would! Definitely. She has an enthusiastic personality, and teaches Zoology in a fun and engaging way. Her exams are not made to fail students, but to truly review and test on material learned. She cares for her students, and that comes across through the way she offers her time and energy to ensure that they truly understand what she's teaching on.
yes she is an excellent teacher
Yes. Very helpful and easy to approach. Makes an otherwise overwhelming class and material easy to manage and understand.
Yes because she uses lots of examples to explain certain subjects.
Yes
Yes,I would highly recommend Kara Miller for students interested in learning the human body. The human body is very complex to learn and understand, it can be difficult. I believe the way that Kara Miller taught the class was very good and that I would have never thought I would be able to retain so much of the human body.
Yes I would because she is very nice and helpful.
I would recommend Ms. Miller. I really like her class setup but which she had stuck with it and on top of it.
I would definitely recommend this class to everyone because she is a great teacher and really knows her material.
I would recommend her to other students. Her class is straight forward. Expectations are clear and realistic. She isn't one of those professors that try and trick you with material. She is genuinely concerned whether students understand conceptually v. just for memorization.
Yes, shes a great teacher for A&P. She knows the material very well
I recommend her because she is one of the best college teachers I ever had.
Yes, she's an amazing professor. She tries to help us as much as possible.
Yes, I highly recommend Miller to other students. She's explained the subject of anatomy well and made it easy in a way to understand. Zoology is a really fast paced and lots of information at one time, but with her teaching and materials she provided it made it very helpful.
definitely! Please see #15 as i expanded into this answer on that question.
Absolutely! She is very knowledgable and never puts anyone on the spot. She tells you what to expect the first day of the course and doesn't sugar coat it!
Yes I would because she is a really great teacher and she knows her stuff. She tries her best to help us understand the material even more.
Yes i would because she is a very caring teacher and you can tell she really cares about her work and her students.
Yes I would. Her lectures are easy to follow and interesting, even to a student who usually struggles with science classes such as myself.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
The Powerpoint's that she presents are awesome!
Honestly, when I first started the course, I was absolutely terrified that the work load in Ms. Miller's class would be overwhelming and stressful. However, after the first few weeks, I realized how wrong I was. I never thought that I could enjoy Anatomy and Physiology as much as I did this past semester, and it's all thanks to a great teacher. Overall, I'd like to say thank you for instilling in me a desire to learn more about the human body and all of its interesting facts and abilities.
your awesome can you teach me 142 and on until my career starts
She is a great professor and seems to be VERY busy with teaching and her own education. I don't know how you do it Professor.
Great teacher.
She's always in a happy mood, makes me wanna learn. She has a southern accent, which i thought was cute. She's always organized with her work, and prepared to answer any questions
Shes works hard as a teacher and as a student pursuing a PHD. For that, she has my respect.
She's such a great teacher and it's too bad she does not teach zoology 142 because I would take her again. She's one of the best professors I've had so far at KCC.
I wish I could take a gross anatomy class from her. She really knows her stuff and she makes it fun and more interesting to learn.
Her lectures were very well put together, and she could answer almost any question thrown at her!
Nothing.
18. Other comments:
-Create study guides before every exam
None.
I believe she will make a great athletic trainer.
You are lucky to have Kara an a professor at KCC. She enjoys teaching us. Many professors don't have the drive or excitement coming across in their teaching style. She really entices you to want to know more. She encourages you too. Any student who has her for a professor will be one step ahead of the rest. She preps you for 142 and then some.
She's very sweet and intelligent, and I really enjoyed the class, even though it was one of the hardest I had ever taken!

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Kara knew the material really well. She was able to explain in a way students understand, not just from a book.
She was able to make the material fun and not boring.
She had a lot of knowledge and was very clear n helpful when explaining concepts.
Kara Miller's strengths as a teacher were that she was able to help students identify different parts of the body in a clear and understandable way. I believe Miller made the lab experiments enjoyable for all students, including myself to help understand the human body. Her class was intensive but only to help students gain the knowledge of the human body and apply it to new situations.
She was very friendly and welcoming to her class, usually I'm nervous the first day for the course and to meet the teacher but I felt very comfortable in her class. And after every lab I thought I left knowing the material very well
Knowledge of subject matter and she is easy to listen to
She know her material and can explain them clearly.
She knew the subject area well and the material was presented in a clear and precise way.
She tried to make lab experiments fun.
She is really knowledgeable of the material.
I feel like she knew the course information really well. She spoke loud and clearly and she was nice and respectful.
Awesome, professor knows the subject well.
knowledgeable of subject well rounded
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Try to talk slower when explaining material for exams.
No changes.
None
The first exam powerpoint (for studying) had illustrations of digestive organs that were not labeled properly, with odd angles and the illustrations were improperly cropped, making it hard to discern what we were to actually be tested on. The second exam- it was explicitly stated on the study guide there would be no radiographs on the exam, yet the last four questions on the exam were radiographs.
No changes necessary
I wish tests were a little bit lower because if you do bad on test it affects your grade by ALOT
Not to Kara but to KCC and this class. It needs 1 book. Excessive texts and handouts. Streamline this course. #3 above should be a reflection if the course design and not if Kara.
I would suggest her to be more interactive with her students and be more "human." It felt as though she was just going through the motions to get students in and out of the classroom. Her enthusiasm towards the class could use a little help too.
none
The only thing I can think of is that the course outline could have been a little more clear at the beginning of the course. Maybe explain all the components of the class a little more. Such as creative images and exam material.
N/A
I would ask that she would break things down in a simpler way. Also I know its not her fault but KCC really needs to change up their labs. you have to look at 3 unorganized books just to get one assignment done.
produce study guides and have class more often
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
n/a
She would help students with there experiments.
She would really encourage participation and test our knowledge in class.
Kara Miller showed concern for her students by asking questions at the end of the lecture or experiment and notifying students when exams or lab reports are due. I also did like how Miller would help students identify certain parts of body that have a difficult structure to study.
She made time for office hours and was always willing to help with any problems any student had
When I had a family issue she let me make up an experiment on her own time.
She often asked if we had any problems or questions.
She checked up on us while we were doing experiments. She also emailed us regarding our grades and class schedules.
She was respond through email fast and she was open to any questions a student had.
She would email us reminders of upcoming exams.
She helped anyone who needed it, going to every group to check up
yes very nice woman
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, I learned a lot from her labs and she always explains in a way students could understand. Since she is young herself, she gives us tips and tricks on how she memorized certain parts of the human body.
Yes because she is very smart.
Yes! She is just an awesome professor and really encourages you to learn and expects you to work hard.
Yes, I would highly recommend Kara Miller for students interested in learning and identifying different part of the body and who are interested in the field of knowledge as a career. Miller's class helped me understand the complexity of the human body in ways I never thought I would never remember today.
Yes I would! I took 141 last year but dropped the course because I just felt like I wasn't going to succeed but its not like that this semester
Yes.
Yes I would recommend her to students, because she is a great teacher and will help you pass the course.
I would recommend her because she knows her material well. She always comes to class with a smile and this creates a great learning environment.
yes, because her bubbly personality makes you feel comfortable during experiments.
Yes. She is also very helpful and encouraging.
Yes because she's strong in this course
yes because she knew the subject
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Loved that we have a week to take the exams.
Great person, funny teacher.
Awesome professor!
She was a very good professor and I enjoyed her class
She was a really great instructor!
N/A
good teacher
18. Other comments:

If you had a better supply of well labeled illustrations and photographs for study material then students wouldn't have to waste time tracking down effective study materials on the web. A quick review at the end of the lab before an exam would be helpful.
This comment is only about the course. I think the exams should focus more on the lab work and lab material. The reason why I would suggest changing the questions to focus more on the lab is because the course is a lab course, and I think studying should focus on that. For example, it was really strange to be tested on the microanatomy slides when we never talked or learned anything about the microanatomy material during our labs. Therefore, maybe the microanatomy should be incorporated into the lab experiments so that the exam questions are more relevant to what is being taught. Or if it cannot be added to the lab experiments, maybe it should be taken out of the exams, so that more relevant questions to the lab experiments can be added to the exams.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She is very knowledgeable in the subject which shines during lab.
She's fun and active and I think her attitude and positive vibes encourage students in participating.
Ms. Miller does a great job of taking a difficult and intimidating subject and making it fun and easier to understand. Her expectations were always clear and fair.
She knew her subject very well and helps out students but also makes them think on their own to learn.
Her strengths were knowing the subject well and being about to explain and show up where everything was. She gave ways to remember certain things that helped.
She knows her background well. She is very detailed with instructions and expectations of what we will be doing and how we use the equipment that we work with. Helpful!
She defiantly loves when we did our dissection, but she was always walking around and was always there to answer our questions.
She allowed the students to think for themselves and didn't simply give them the answers.
She has life experiences that she will enter twine into her lectures that helps us to learn and remember hard concepts. She is passionate about her subject matter which makes it easy for us to learn because she has excitement to teach us.
She explains clearly of the subject and knows what shes doing. Very well organized. She always reminds us of important dates and that she's always available for help if needed. Miller also responds to emails fast which are very important and helpful to communicate with students.
She knows what she is talking about! Very intelligent in this field!
she just knew everything about the subject very well. she gave us secrets and ways to memorize things.
very knowledgable
She's young, and knows material very well. She's in shape.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I suggest Kara Miller keep her teaching style and do not change.
I would not change anything. I loved this class.
The only thing I would have wanted Ms. Miller to do differently in regards to this course and her teaching is for our grades to have been updated more often. It can be nerve-racking heading into the end of the semester with a significant amount of your grades outstanding.

15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Kara is willing to answer questions that students may of had in or out of class.
She always responded to my emails and she even asked if u needed to reschedule my test because I had missed a few classes.
Ms. Miller obviously cared about our learning experience. If ever there was an issue or something we weren't totally clear on, she would take the time to work with us and help us understand.
N/A
She answered every question we had and was always friendly no matter what.
Whenever we had questions, she would be there to help us find what we were looking for. She wanted us to make sure had an idea of what we were looking for, so she wouldn't just give us the answer right off the bat.
During this past semester, Ms. Miller has shown concern for her student by making sure that they knew the material and truly learned from the different lab sessions.
1) available to us 2) asks us questions (interactive) 3) gives extra credit 4) gives us alternative ways to learn a concept so that we all will understand it however we learn
She always reminded us to email us if anything happen and she will help us and work things out. If we have any trouble or questions she made us feel comfortable to ask questions.
She allowed students to jump into another lab class I they missed theirs. She was punctual about returning emails.
helping us pass course.
kept reminding about due dates
She asked us if we have any concerns for our grade, just email her.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend her to students because she is able to teach in a clear and precise manner which provides a good environment for learning Zoology
Most defnitely. She's fun and enthusiastic about teaching the topic. She's also up and about, which I love. She sends off good vibes.
Absolutely! I am very happy that I took this course with Ms. Miller. I learned a lot and had fun in the process. She is a great instructor, very kind and patient.
Yes, because she's a great teacher and is very helpful.
Yes, I enjoyed the class and learned a lot from it with no problems.
yes because you can understand what she teaches in class. the work seems easy when she explains. grades fairly, class is fun, she's funny, easy to talk to about assignments and anything dealing with the class.
Yes, she made lab fun. Our experiments were fun and not boring at all. We did a lot of different things. She's a helpful teacher and would always try to help us as much as she could.
Yes, I would. The labs themselves were not demanding, and her exams were fair.
Yes, definitely! Her experience as an ATC helps her to teach with life experiences. Helps us to know concepts in a different light instead of just straight memorization. Students are lucky to have her as a professor!
Yes I would. She knows the subject very well and explains it clearly. This is my second time taking this course and it was a very successful semester for me, thanks to Kara.
Yes, she's full of energy and fun facts. She doesn't put things on quizzes or exams we wouldn't know, or not have gone over.
yes, its challenging but you learn and have fun.
yes. everything is fair
Yes, she's a very good teacher. She has a happy mood
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
She is a great teacher.
Ms. Miller is truly an asset to KCC. I wish she taught more of the courses that I need to take, because I would definitely choose her as an instructor again.
It was fun taking your class this semester.
She is a great teacher and so nice!
She's also a student herself! so it's good because you can relate to that. She's fair with everything. Makes class very interesting especially when it comes to the dissections (smelly, but interesting and fun).
I actually enjoyed lab, she's a great teacher.
Overall, she was an awesome professor. I had her for both lecture and lab, and I can honestly say that she is a great lecturer AND lab instructor.
I think I said it all previously. She is engaging, loves her subject matter and wants to teach us. She has different techniques to help us to learn so she is very concerned about her students learning. She is fair and tests well.
She's such a great professor! I know she's always busy with instructing classes and being a student at moana herself on top of that, and she manages to give a good lecture every class. Lectures are usually boring, but Kara makes the subject interesting to listen to, it's straight forward but enough details to understand the material. She's the best zoology teacher i've had thus far.
She has everything in the Laulima recourse folder at the beginning of the semester. It's all useful in studying and what we can expect on her exams. She's very nice, and highly intelligent.
she is great
she's a great teacher
Please give study guides, it would help alot! for lecture & lab. Plus she's very appealing to look at
18. Other comments:
Really enjoyed the class!
None.
Thank you so much for having a professor like Kara teach this course. Other professors just go through the motions. She actually wants to here to teach us. So different from professors I took this course from at UHM.
Enjoyed the course.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Helpful, she knows what she talking about, very informative.
She is a very effective communicator and was always well organized and thorough. She really cared about the material and it showed in everything she did.
She is very knowledgeable. You do not have to worry about asking her anything, even the most outrageous questions because she always has an answer. She is also very nice and enthusiastic which makes her easy to approach.
She knew her material well, and knew how to explain it to others.
She is very compassionate towards her students which added to my motivation to learn the material. She also was very passionate of the subject, which enhanced the learning experience.
She was very enthusiastic which made me want to learn
She was very encouraging to every student during lab experiments, asking us questions on what we knew and what we learned. It brought many students to think of the answer and go back and research it. She made learning fun and always checked in on us.
gets involved
She has great ways to remember things. She is enthusiastic.
She was a great teacher! Kara explains very thoroughly and allows you to think during her lab as well. She doesn't just give you the answer right and makes you think until you understand the concept of the human body.
She is young but very knowledgeable in zoology subject matter. She has experience and she can prove it any time by answering just about any anatomy question.
She is very energetic and interested in the subject matter, which is great for learning and keeping myself and other students engaged. She explains directions, assignments and tasks clearly. She also explains well her expectations of the students. She knows the subject matter very well and always had a thoughtful answer for my questions.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
nothing, she was a wonderful lab instructor.
None
I do not have any suggestions because I enjoyed it.
none
She did many things and went out of her way to make sure she sent us reminder emails on all homework due. She in my opinion did well no suggestions needed
none
None
I think it'd be great if she also taught online.
There was a time between March and April when online grades for the class were not posted. I would not normally care because I get decent grades but I would like to know as soon as possible. Plus, this situation can create problems. If the teacher says a student did not turn in an assignment but the student did; the end of the semester would not be a good time to resolve such an issue. Also, posting grades on time would help failing students decide if they need to abandon ship.
None that I can think of.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would explain until you understand in a way that you would understand.
From the first day of class, she told students that if they have any problems, to let her know so that she can work something out with them. On the last day of lab, I was severely ill and was unable to attend. She allowed me to make it up on monday with her other class, she is the sweetest!
She told us about exams and assignments before hand so we could have enough time to complete them.
She was very accessible and willing to stay after to help the students.
She would provide us with questions that helped us apply what we knew to lead us to the right answer.
She always asked and repeated to her students to ask if they had questions or did not understand even if it was though email
she worked with you in order to better understand the classes
By always giving time for questions.
She was available outside of class and would stay til the very end on lecture when there are no questions from students.
Whenever she saw something unsafe in dissection labs, she would quickly correct it. For example, improper use of scalpels.
As she would explain the lab tasks for the day, she always paused and asked if anyone had any questions. She sent out an email a few days before the different lab days with reminders of what was due. She was happy to help with any sort of difficulty anyone may have had with lab procedures. She also suggested several mnemonics or helpful phrases to remember the anatomy of certain structures.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend Kara Miller. She was very helpful and supportive.
Yes of course. She is the kind of professor that you learn and retain from, not test and forget.
Yes, she is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the course. Very easy to learn from. If it was not for her lab, I would not be doing well in my lecture class.
I would because it was well organized and easy to follow.
Most definitely. People made me fear taking this subject course but I came out truly enjoying this course. Kara's guidance made all the difference.
yes I would because she was clear and to the point.
Yes I would, she made sure we learned enough and always said do not over load your brains. Most teachers did not worry about that..they just want to cram it all in. She did not.
yes, she was cool and fun.
Absolutely
YES, because she was a very understanding teacher and prepares you for finals with her study guides and notes.
I would recommend this teacher to anyone without hesitation.
Absolutely!
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
I hope that she will teach zoology 142 next semester!
She was a good teacher.
She is an excellent instructor.
n/a
Thank you for teaching me, I did learn many things from you and I appreciate all your help.
nothing
She's great.
Thanks for a great lab.
In my opinion she takes a difficult class like zoology and makes it very easy to learn. I was afraid of this class but after taking it with her, this class was easier than elementary school.
She was overall just a really great lab teacher and I was able to learn a lot and more in her lab.

10. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Definitely the material we covered on health and wellness throughout the semester. It was useful information and stuff that i can take with me forever.
All of them.
The assignments were because let us apply what we learned to real life scenarios. It also let me see the practicality in knowing all these things. It kept me mindful of what I do and eat as well as what I prepare for my kids.
It was helpful to have everything on the table from the beginning of the course. We could work ahead, work at our own pace, etc.
I loved this course because of all the useful personal information for my everyday life and future.
online flexibility
Reading textbook & doing worksheets
The assignments were easy to do. The book contained a lot of information that I enjoyed reading about on my own. I liked how Kara Miller emailed us each week updating us about what is due.
11. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
The way the testing goes. I understand that it is an online course and that the ways we can get our information on the test is endless but i felt that the questions that were asked were a little too specific making it kind of hard to find unless you read every single word of that entire book.
I think the exams were. They do complete the school's requirements but they asked questions that seemed like minor details in a rich text. I didn't mind the quizzes because it was a more focused question.
Class discussions
At the beginning, it was very disorganized. The calendar and assignments had dates that did not match or make sense. Some assignments were confusing to do. There was one exam in which chapters were assigned but I noticed that some of the questions in the exam were from a unassigned chapter. But it got better after the midterms.

22. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
Maybe help with ways for students to study a little better for the tests and quizzes.
Focus more on quizzes so the students have time to absorb the chapters and see the key points before the exam.
Kara should continue to work on organizing the course work. It's a little frustrating when she says to do one thing and then when you submit the assignment she wants something else.

29. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
Just make it a little easier for students to study for the test. Maybe don't make it so point specific. Otherwise i thought the course was pretty great.
Like I stated earlier. Also, she could better explain what she's looking for or give students examples of questions.
N/A
This course should be more organized. The documents should be up to date before being posted on Laulima.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
I never, truly never from elementary school til last year liked science classes. Just too much to handle and keep a steady mental understanding, like looking at a single star in the sky then looking at a patch of sky, those stars and the space between, then the whole sky and zoom out zoom out zoom out,BOOOM blow my mind. For people who understand the difference between knowing and true comprehensions, that click in your mind, Professor Miller did that for me. She explained in different ways, with funny jokes, metaphors, demonstrations, etc. Her efforts, great knowledge, and passion are her major strengths.
very knowledgeable of the subect. Explains the material well.
Strengths were being able to explain her material in a clear way, being able to have student understand her concepts
She knows her anatomy we'll!
kara knows the topic really well, her lectures are very straight forward
Her concern for students was a very huge thing. She is always there to help. Her teaching style was very helpful. She really knows what she's talking about and she's very interested in what she teaches.
Very organized teacher. She knew her subject really well. The subject where easy to learned with her own explanations.
She knew her stuff very well.
Her strengths as a teacher would definitely be the knowledge towards the subject.
Knowing the subject area well and makes it a bit more fun.
Patient. Understanding. Excited about the subject material.
to make sure that us students know the lesson carefully
knows the subject well
shes a great teacher. she actually cares about her students learning. She is very staight foward.
Made the content easy to understand and gave us really good memorization tips for some harder content of the course. Always available to meet or talk if you had questions or help with a certain subject.
Smart, knew her subject well, and always went above and beyond to make sure we understood the subject
Knows the material very well, relateable and outgoing
Her passion for teaching. Unlike other teachers I've had in the past, she had so much energy and enthusiasm. i knew she enjoyed teaching the subject of Anatomy and Physiology.
Very happy and up beat. Keeps the class interesting.
She really knows the material and explains it well
Kara Miller really knew the subject that she is teaching. She is able to teach students in ways that makes them understand the concept really well. When something isn't clear to her students, she breaks it down and give examples for students to know it better.
She really knows her subject as she is trying to get her PhD as well with the subject she is teaching us.
She knows her material well and she's really funny! She is a great person as well.
She knows her subject, and because of this, you can ask any question and receive a fast answer.
she knew material very well and is very enthusiastic.
She is very helpful and is passionate about what she teaches. The class is very organized, so I knew what was expected.
Explaining things, but because of the class, it was such in a high tempo.
Explains material very well. Goes over steps of anatomy very well to where we can remember it. Always willing to answer questions. Only includes questions on test that were covered in class or on power points. Makes it very clear on what she wants us to remember.
She really knows a lot about this subject and makes sure that we can go to her if we have any questions.
She is very excited about the material which makes listening and being at class easier to do. When she teaches the material itself is hard so it's nice that Kara is a good teacher.
She knew exactly what she was teaching. She knew how to teach information to the class; she used good examples for us to understand the material better. She's a very fun teacher as well.
she is a great instructor who knows her stuff.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
No changes
None
the class itself, makes you learn alot and there are definitely no changes needed to be made because the class was bery well organized.
None.
Probably, for quizzes is there way that the quizzes can be return. Sometimes it is return but sometimes not. It will be good to see for student what wrong questions that they received wrong. Proof read the exams there is some errors. It's a hard subject maybe provide a study guide.
Bring more models.

The exams at the test center, I know that for some its ideal because you had to show us a picture but I like test that are on paper and many people do. I think that would have been helpful, or atleast provide an option because I was just one of those people who get nervous with computer test.

No changes. I really enjoyed her class!
She should go a little slow on presenting the material. She should also make her explanations a little more simple, some students don't understand the lectures at times.
I wish she had some kind of outline or something prior to actually starting the lectures, even if its just a slide saying we're gonna do this, this, and this. With that, it would allow me to make sure I'm getting all the notes I need to.
none.
I think playing the animation/ videos that are on the powerpoint, during lecture, would be helpful.
slow down on explaining things, because it could get confusing but other then that shes great.
Nothing really. Work load is perfect.
If there is any changes it would be to get study guides before exams.
No suggestions.
No changes.
Would be best if we did test for each chapter instead of it being combined. Which crams the test.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would make time for you. Check up and follow up.
She were open to her student by email, office or in class and after class
Always ask how we're doing or have any question or concern have a meet with her in her office .
there are no questions on kara defenitely strives on students to be succesful, she even made it to thr point of students asking which they prefer best to get a better grade.
She would always tell us that if we ever needed help with anything to email her and she could meet with us at her office. She always emailed back quickly with any questions we had.
She always asked us if we have any question when it comes to subject. Always reminding us what are due the next days.
Emails reminding us about certain things for class.
She let everyone know that she was available to help students with any material or even studying techniques.
Went over parts on tests the students collectively did not do well on.
she gives a little review before starting a new topic in the lecture
First day of lecture in order to make sure we were on the right track with note taking she gave us some pointers and a sort of "test" to see where we were on taking notes and to steer us in the right direction. Always available after class or outside of class .
She was always willing to meet up if we had any confusion on the material
Always providing an outlet for students to reach out to her if they needed help, and she also made a way for us to experience a once in a life time opportunity to visit the cadaver lab that I thought I would never be able to do. But it was because of professor miller that I had the courage to go and I'm glad I did.
She gave students an opportunity to raise their grade by giving extra credit. She'd constantly ask if we had any questions or concerns throughout class. She gave me opportunities to make up quiz's when she clearly stated that there is no make up for in class quiz's for whatever reason. She was clearly concerned for my well being.
Asked us if we wanted the test online or in class. Also was very helpful whenever there was a question about something she went over.
She asks for students that need help to talk to her
Kara Miller show concern for her students by making sure that we understand what was covered in her lectures. When ever students have any questions, she answers it very quickly via email or in person. She also keep us updated on our grades, by telling us how to calculate it. She even takes you to the medical school (if her permission is granted) to really get a good hands on learning which students can benefit from.
She helped us see what grade we would be getting in her class, gave extra credit points to us when we didn't do too well on exams, and bonded with her students.
She asked us if we had any questions or concerns. And if people were too shy to ask her, she waited a little bit after class so that they were able to ask her. She also let it be known that she has office hours and we could see her at any time during those hours.
She is very easily accessible, if you just talk to her she will make time to meet you.
she would always be available through email when students had questions or concerns.
She always makes sure that everyone understands the material and encourages us to ask questions. Has powerpoint slides available that make the learning process so much easier.
Made sure we understood and replied right away to emails.
She never moved onto new material without asking the class if we has any questions. She always told us if we had any questions while studying to not be afraid to email her. She is a fair grader, gives us the material she wants us to know.
She always lets us know if we have any questions to email her or ask her and she will try and help out.
She encouraged us to see her whenever we needed help with something. Whenever someone would ask questions she would be happy to answer them.
She asks questions, regarding on what people did not understand. Also she gives examples to the students if we do not understand.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?

Hard class, awesome teacher! Wish she would teach ZOOL142!
Your a great teacher don't ever change !
Shes awesome and I wish she was teaching 142
After taking a 3 year break from school, i thought it'd be hard for me to get in the groove of being a student while working and being a single parent. My biggest fear was taking on Zoology 141 under these circumstances.............. Long story short, i loved coming to class and studying the material. Professor Miller made it interesting for me.
She is a great teacher and I would recommend her to anyone who is taking human anatomy.
Kara Miller is an awesome person. She comes to class prepared and ready to teach the class. The energy that she brings into the class, makes students interested in learning the concept.
Nothing.
It was fun having you, and I wish you the best in your career! You really know your stuff and you're a great and funny professor!
Nope. She's pretty great.
She is an awesome teacher.
You are a great professor. Thank you.

I like that she posts grades on Laulima regularly, so we could keep track on what we are getting in class. Some teachers don't use the grade book, so I'm really glad that she uses it.
Shes nice.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Miller is very knowledgable about her subject. She enjoys teaching students and makes sure majority of the class understands the material being discussed.
She is able to explain the information in the textbooks where students can grasp ideas more easily than if they were to read by themselves. She gives good examples and students can easily relate to them.
Kara is very knowledge professor that is able to think on the level on a college student to get us to understand.
Very organized and upbeat when lecturing. You can definitely tell that she wants her students to succeed.
Kara is very enthusiastic about sharing her subject matter, so as a student it's definitely motivating to be a part of that class. I also like the fact that she goes along with the syllabus schedule and you always know what to expect for each class meeting.
Kara is a very engaging speaker and she was able to keep the interest of the class. She also knows the material very well and created useful acronyms for terms that were difficult to memorize.
perfect speech, gives good information of the lecture
Miller knew her material
Entertaining and friendly. Great energy! She made learning this difficult material fun and exciting!
Kara has a high energy level and are passionate about the content in zoology. She explains the material in an easy understandable way and she makes up repeat the material for better learning.
Kara's major strength is obviously her expertise in the field. She is like a little walking encyclopedia of all things anatomy and physiology. She had a strong voice and confident demeanor.
She is energetic and tries to provide the clear lecture.
Her personality is very outgoing and welcoming
Had alot of energy and came to class ready to teach. Making the students feel comfortable while learning.
Her major strengths as a teacher would have to be her knowledge of the subject area being taught and that she demonstrates her knowledge in a clear and detailed powerpoint which is used during the lecture. Her teaching style is efficient and understandable to many of her students. During class, she elaborates more on the information she tried to explain in the powerpoint. At a certain point in class, she would stop and ask us if we have questions on what we just covered so far before continuing on the new material.
The energy that she brings to the class.
She's young and understands exactly what students are going through
Good at summarizing/paraphrasing the book.
very passionate about the subject
She was very helpful and made sure we all understood certain important concepts before she moved on.
very candid when she demonstrated bones, very enthusiastic about her subjects.
she has a massive amount of information and study tools that she provides the students.. the best thing is that even though she knows her information she doesn't have trouble conveying it to students.. the students don't feel completely overwhelmed by the lectures making it easier to cope with the topics at hand..
Ms. Miller was able to clearly teach the material. She showed knowledge of subject matter and was able to teach in a way that was easily understood.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
A change that i would suggest is to update quizzes promptly.
Lectures should be taught from the book instead of her personal powerpoints because when attending class, only information from the powerpoints are used. Homework requires a lot of reading and if some of that reading was done in class (thru lecture), homework load for reading would be easier. Too much reading, not enough time.
More take home quizes would be nice. its a good way to apply the knowledge we've gained.
None
Perhaps make more group work?
The only thing I would suggest is that next time you give the students an update on our grade. Because there are so many exams and quizzes, it is hard to know what your current grade is in the class, and it is helpful to know this so you know if you have to work harder to get a better grade to pass the class.
This course is a hard course and i would suggest study guides to help prepare for the test. There is so much material I didn't really know what to focus on.
Make test questions slightly more clear. And perhaps have the tests proofread.
No changes.
Get grades updated and posted promptly. If you don't students will become less motivated. If you are going to have as many quizzes they need to be described in the syllabus. We deserve to know what material we will be quizzed on for respective dates. Although we could just ask you we should not have to, it should be listed on paper. Get rid of the built in extra credit on exams. In order to get any we have to score perfectly and beyond and you know how unlikely that's going to be. Although I do believe in rewarding students for their dedication to learning material extra credit would be better used as a teaching tool. Why not try and assign a creative project asking students to make a song about a topic? Setting aside time in class to present these will surely result in learning material and get students to interact and learn more together. Also creative learning is an excellent path toward higher understanding which I know you are concerned about. Your acronyms were great and I wont forget them, include much more of them in your course! Incorporate social media. I have a professor that uses twitter with her own hash tag as an extra credit opportunity. Tweets, re-tweets, and comments are worth a point (up to a maximum) and encourage learning. For example, points given for tweets showcasing some weird and gross pathology...might get interesting. Encourage students to utilize Laulima discussion as a learning tool. I was surprised that there were no students interacting there because in past classes there were tons posting study links and materials. Discussion is a powerful tool so maybe post a topic or two and give some EC or course points there. Make good questions like "What experiences have you had with broken bones and what in this weeks material gave you a better understanding of what was going on?" Points could be given for responses too. Fact of the matter is that much of life is online these days, may as well make good use of it. Incorporate more visual props. Get a laser pointer and point to structures as you are lecturing, boom, two possible avenues of retrieval for later. One thing that was really cool in a past class was that right after given a quick lecture on material we were asked to write down everything we could remember on a piece of paper. Then the instructor went from person to person asking what they wrote and we discussed them. This forced us to actively participate and kept things interesting.
To be a little bit more organized with her lectures
I know that through the powerpoints presented during class for lecture were posted on laulima but Im sure there are students that dont go on and look at it. Suggestion would be to slow down a bit if possible because the slides did fly by really fast.
I believe that her teaching system is great now that I don't think there would be any changes that I prefer.
Learn the material better.
Go more into detail of the material
Quizzes should be tested on lecture only, not from self readings.
she needs to work on the pronunciation of the terminology
Proof read her exams before she posts it so that theres no typos or anything.
only change I would make is that it would have been great to also be able to choose her as a teacher for 142.. but unfortunately she only teaches 141 currently..
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She asks the class if we have questions or any concerns on the material. She also tells us to e-mail her if there was something that we did not understand. She tries her best to teach the class ways in which the material can be understood.
She went over material that students had trouble understanding multiple times in depth in class.
She encouraged us both as ZOO students as well as people to progress and thrive.
She was always open to recovering material that we didn't quite understand.
Always made sure that everyone was on the same page and that students felt comfortable and free to ask any questions that they had.
She gave us a lot of quizzes and allowed us to drop our 3 lowest grades; this will help everyone's grade.
ask question after finish exam/test, such as: "is the question ok?/ is it enough time to complete?"
She slowed down when we needed help in lecture
She's amazing! Always available to talk and very understanding of outside problems such as work and being sick.
She repeated the material for better learning and she was available through email.
She stopped to explain things in great detail and was free to answer any questions during class time.
She always asks students if they have any questions or not.
She sent out constant emails, which was nice
Always having reminders and letting us know when our exams were open.
She showed her concern for us by asking us every class time if we have any questions about the material from previous lecture or before we take the exam if we have any questions or concerns of our preparation to take the exam. If there were questions about a certain section of the chapters, she would dedicate a certain amount of time in class to explain the material that we didn't understand again until we had a full picture of what is going to be on the exam.
She would frequently ask questions to see if we understood everything.
Mentioned class average and how to study/improve
Asked questions and went over any unclear areas.
email responses prompt
She would help anyone who needed it. Any questions we had she answered to the best of her abilities.
she was very adaptable and understanding with students who kept open lines of communication.. if timing or schedules didn't work out she was more than willing to give students a chance to makeup as long as they had and gave reasoning..
Prompt response to emails.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes I would recommend her to students. She is not only knowledgable, she is also very kind and funny. She wants her students to do well on exams and teaches encourage us to think outside the box.
yes, as long as you study you will be fine.
Yes!! She is awesome and I found this class very interesting.
i would recommend Kara to other students because her energy is definitely refreshing, especially because the subject matter is a bore. Unfortunately, even though she's a great teacher, you still really need to study the content to get a good grade for the class.
Yes, I would recommend her to other students because she is an engaging teacher and genuinely cares about how you do in her class. She also knows the material very well and can break down the lessons so everyone understands.
i would recommend, because she gives a lot of space for the student to think about the lessons
I would recommend her
Absolutely! Her class was very enjoyable
Yes, I would strongly recommend Kara for all the reasons that I have written above.
Not at this point no. I do feel that she has the potential to become an outstanding instructor.
Yes if they can keep upon their own with the material
Yes. Very fun and cool teacher. Makes the class more enjoyable instead of a boring lecture class where you just sit there and dose off.
Yes, I would recommend her to other students who are interested in taking Zoology 141. Based on my experience of her class, I feel like that she provides a good atmosphere for students to learn more about the subject being taught. She explained the material very clearly and detailed for us to understand. If we had questions about the section we were on, she would go back and explain it again until we fully understand the material. I believe that her teaching style would be what other students expect from a teacher.
She's a good teacher but she would be a lot better with a better understanding of the material.
Yes. She's understanding and very approachable
Yes because she is good.
yes shes a good teacher
Yes because she's nice, makes class interesting, and is a great teacher that knows the material well.
yes I would! she's an amazing teacher!
definitely.. a great teacher all around.. loves her field and shows it when teaching.. who best to learn from than someone teaching something they love..
Ms. Miller is fair. You will earn your grade in her class, she doesn't give it away, but if you study and read the material a good grade is easily something a student can obtain.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Miller enjoys teaching us students and tries her best as a teacher to make sure we understand the material.
i enjoy the fact that she is still a college student and understands out struggles.
None.
You project very well when you speak, but sometimes when you speak too fast, you tend to mispronounce the words and this can sometimes be a problem because when it come to the exam, I am not sure what the right answer is.
Love her! Great class! Very knowledgeable, and great at teaching the information to students. Thank you Kara!
Kara is passionate about her field and it shows in her lecture. Just the delivery needs to improve.
She is very sweet and has great examples
Thanks for the semester. Really glad I took your class. Was a fun experience on learning zoology. You made it less intimidating.

She really knows what she is teaching and creates methods that make the material relevant and easier for the students to understand.
She knew the subject very well & was very passionate about it as well.
she is very enthusiastic and knows the subject really well
She was very well organized.
She is very enthusiastic about A&P, especially exercise physiology. She was very knowledgeable in her area!
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
Changes I would suggest is that she doesn't inform her students about how to do assignments (creative images, lab report, etc) and doesn't verbally say what is due. Miller just hands out a calendar on the first day of class and expects you to know what to do and how to do it. Miller is also late to class a lot by about 5 min. This makes it hard to ask questions before class starts to clarify or get help. Miller also doesn't answer to emails promptly.
really needs improvement on the pronunciation of the terminology
None, her class was great.
I request no changes
Class schedule was sometimes a little confusing.
Sometimes class is not quite as structured.
No changes
na
some of the study materials online were difficult and confueing like the computer slides

To be a little more organized with things
Be quicker with grading assignments.

None
It would have been nice for Kara Miller to be a little bit more proactive during the model section of the lab. Although that portion of the lab is supposed to be group individuals maybe doing check-ins as a class to keep students on track.
none
Maybe she should make the test questions a little bit less than what she is making them now. Also for the slides she should put the answer key when she gives us it to study. Because it was hard for me to study without the answers.
Explaining the lab and procedures since many of the labs we had, we needed to complete just by reading off of the handouts which were out of date and very unclear. The daniels manual we needed for class which included many of the lab procedures was not her fault though. She had explained to us how she also felt we needed up to date textbooks.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
She would come to some groups in lab and explain more in depth when we had questions. But it would help more if she said it in front of the class because there was some information that other groups got that really helped, its just I had to be informed by other students.
one on one teaching
She always helped us out and asked if we needed anything.
She allows us to learn at our own pace.
She allowed her students to do an in class extra credit and that shows a lot of effort she put into the extra credit and also how much she wants her students to receive higher better grades
She was open for questions during or after class and and answered with a sincere and friendly manner.
Yes she does.
She would make sure we understood things and would never hesitate to help when needed. She would answer all our questions as soon as we asked.
Answered questions Gave fair chances Understanding
tips on how to study
yes all the time. She would try her best to get to know us and relate to us.
always helped when you ask for help
She was very fair and understanding. If you just kept in touch with her and let her know your concerns she response positively back to you. She also responded back to my emails very quickly!
She was always making sure were on track and knew what we need to complete
Kara always made sure our questions were answered.
Got to know us better by having conversations, not necessarily about the subject itself. Her passion for the subject made us more interested and eager to learn.
She was accomodating if you couldnt make it to class and was always there in class to answer questions. My sister went in to labor on the first day of class and she was understanding and still gave me a chance to do the work that I was missing that day.
She made herself available to answer questions and always provided examples that helped connect the material with everyday experiences.
yes, she made sure we could understand the material and would tell us what things needed to be done and when. also she would make sure we studied the right things for the exams.
She asked us when we had questions.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
She wouldn't be the first I would recommend but I would recommend her maybe as a third choice.
yes
Definitely. Her class was really enjoyable and fun.
Yes, all around good TA.
I would recommend Kara to other students. Though I just had her as a lab I wish I had her as my lecture teacher as well. She really guides you through the course materials in a fun and exhilarating way
Yes. She loves what she does, and it shows the difference.
Yes. Because she does care about students and it shows. She'll take the time to explain it.
Yes I would recommend Miss Miller to other students because she is a really caring teacher. She wants you to learn and will always help you whenever you need it. She one time let a lab student of hers sit in one of her lecture classes so that her student could understand the material better. She is willing to help whatever the cost.
Definitely ! She is very knowledgeable of the subject and passionate about it. She really wants her students to get understand the subject as well. Explains thoroughly.
yup cause she's cool
yes, she made learning easy and fun
Yes I would recommend Prof. Miller to students. Her class is fairly fun, she's very knowledgeable, and straight forward in what she wants done.
yes i would but i would also tell them its not a easy class
Yes! She made learning fun and kept it interesting.
Yes because this class is very fun and she is very excited about the subject
Yes, she definitely knows what she's talking about and motivates you to study. Even though the content is heavy and difficult to grasp all at once, she breaks it don't and makes it easier to understand.
Absolutely because she is a fun teacher.
yes, because she is wonderful
Yes, she was extremely enthusiastic about her subject area and that translated into a fun and generally productive learning environment.
Yes I would recommend Kara Miller due to her passion, and energy.

Yes because her interest and passion for this subject made the class much more interesting.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
shes kool
She's awesome.
Kara, it was a joy being in your class this year, thank you for answering my subject questions and showing concern for my academia
Excellent and sweet teacher/person!
she is good at what she does. Any who takes her class is lucky to have her as an instructor...
Good teacher brings a good relaxed vibe to class while still teaching knowledgeable info
She is an excellent teacher and I have learned a lot! She explains things very well back when you have any question about the body.
She was very open to explaining concepts
I would love to have her as a ZOOL 142L professor.
I wish I took her for lecture too!
she is a great teacher
If I could've taken your lecture class I would've.
i enjoyed being in her class because she was so enthusiastic and she was very helpful.
She knew what she was talking about.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
has a passion for teaching. wants students to do well, so her teachings reflected it.
She really knows what she's talking about. She's very enthusiastic and seems very happy to be there which provides a more positive learning environment.
Kara Miller has incredible pronunciation. As a student that has English as a second language it was incredibly helpful to me for Kara Miller to have such a clear and precise delivery when it came to her lectures.
She is very helpful and was also was always available when I needed assistance
She knows the material rather well.
She knows her subject area and was quite diversified in teaching her students about the anatomy of the human body.
-enthusiasm -engages students -able to explain concepts easily -activities -puts herself out to help students
I loved we. She did everything she could to help us understand the subject. Whether it was interactive classes or taking the time to answer questions. She was always willing to help.
Kara was interactive with her students. Her lectures were not boring. She befriended her students but at the same time kept her authoritative figure. Kara explained the course material well, asked questions in lecture, and got her students to feel comfortable enough to ask any questions they had on the lecture material.
She adjusts her teaching and the delivery of the material in a way that helps the students learn the material and retain the information.
Kara is very knowledge able with this subject. She gives examples to help me as a student better understand what she's talking about. She also give good acronyms to help me remember the order of certain functions and placements of bones, muscles and such. Kara as a good bubbly personality which makes the class less boring, usually teachers that just talk make students feel bored and that the teacher doesn't care, but Kara is very interactive with us and does her job really well.
She really knows the subject! She always offered help whether it was through email, class lectures or office hours. She also let us know ahead of time what the test will cover and what to really pay attention to.
She gets the class to be involved as well as encourage proper study habits.
She made class fun & interesting. She gave lots of examples and would continue to go over things until everyone was clear.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
more candy lectures =) j/k.
Possibly more student interaction/ questions during class.
Kara Miller has a tendency to provide too much information at one time. It is difficult to follow due to the volume of information that one has to study. At times, I feel as if information that was not presented at class was asked on the test. Finally, the way she approached the type of information was a bit high for a 100 level course.

Nothing! Great job.

Kara's class is all based upon exam, although extra credit is given out frequently it still puts the student in a bad position if the student places poorly in the exam. I think she should assign test so that a student can study off it and know what kind of question could be asked on a real exam. Also review with the students before and after class to make sure the student understands what they had read the previous night and understand what she went over during class.
Talk to administration about making the class longer instead of 50 minutes. Atleast an hour & a half so that lectures arnt so rushed. I also think 3 chapters is alot to be tested on in one exam
None
Perhaps more activities. Otherwise change is not necessary.
Instant feedback on exams taken in the testing center. I find it is easiest for me to learn what I did wrong while the information is still very fresh in my brain.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
gave many opportunities for students to succeed with homework that requires us to know the material, as well as an incentive to do the HW. Constantly emailed everyone, keeping everyone informed what is going on in the class.
She was very open and willing to help, always answered emails promptly and offered help outside of office hours as well.
Kara Miller to extra time out of her day to specifically help me and assist me with understanding the material since I am a ESL student. She dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and effort to so I could understand the material clearly.
She was always avaliable
She communicated with students via, email or cell phone to accommodate student's questions.
By being available to students via email, even office hours, and a flexible meeting time.
will ask students in class and through emails if students need any help and takes time in class to answer any questions a student may have on the subject
She asked us how we were doing. If we understood or needed help. She also asked u how she could change anything so it wouldn't be as difficult. She accepted feedback from her students to help us.
She would go more in depth with the material her students had trouble learning.
She is always available to assist the students, she addresses issues in the class, she constantly tries to engage the class so that we learn.
Kara has a researcher mind. She likes to make sure she isn't doing anything wrong and makes sure that her students feel confident about what their learning. She tells us to complete survey's like this to help better understand her flaws and strengths. She also asks us before class starts how are we doing and if we have any questions about anything. Kara makes sure that her students can succeed to their highest extent.
She always offered help, during & outside of class. She answered any questions that neede to be answered.
She asks if we are on the same page as well as let us know through out the course that she is available to help out.
If you were lost with the material she assisted, Always emailed right back. Was flexable to what the students needed as well as pushed us.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes! wish she was teaching 142! always full of energy and consistent with her teaching techniques. tests were reasonable and reflected the material covered.
Absolutely. I feel like she isnt a really easy teacher in the sense that you can't just slide through. If you pay attention and study you'll pass with a good grade, but you really are learning in her class.
I would recommend her to anyone that wants to understand the Human anatomy and physiology due to her in-depth knowledge of the subject. She has a deep passion for teaching this subject.
Yes , she was overall a good instructor
Of course, Kara is a great teacher and I am glad to have taken this class from her.
i would highly recommend her to other students because shes a very good teacher and a lot of her students agree that she teaches the course well
Yes, definitely. I already have.
Yes, I would recommend Kara to anyone who has to take ZOOL-141 or ZOOL-142L. The answered survey questions above display my reasons.
Yes! She is the teacher to take if you want to LEARN and RETAIN the material!
if your a fast paced learner then Kara is a right teacher for you. She expects students to shine. In her class you would have to read every chapter on your own in order to understand what she's talking about in class.
I would recommend Kara to students who like fast past learning and who is able to take in alot of information at once because she does speak fast & she covers alot of material in one lecture
Yes. I learn a lot from that class. She a great teacher and really nice
Yes because she does well to give you strong background knowledge of human anatomy.
Yes, she made my most freightening class a joy and no over welhming.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
The material she teaches will be used in my profession- already using information learned in her class with my other classes and job.
Thank her for being such a committed teacher.
She has a deep rooted passion for teaching. She truly wants her students to understand the materials versus just going through the motions. She spends a lot of time with her students to ensure they keep with subject versus giving up. She provides an intense sense of motivation for her students.
She is very nice and caring

I wish she was teaching Zoo142

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She is highly educated.
-enthusiasm -knows course subjects well - good at explaining confusing topics to students
Knowing the material that was lectured and in lab.
very knowledgeable! shes a great teacher and definitely knows her anatomy!
Some of Ms. Miller's major strengths as a teacher are she's really concern for her students and she make sure every information provided in lab were clear. She also is well organized and responds to emails quickly as possible.
She was approachable and available for questions outside of class. She set up a comfortable learning environment and was supportive in our learning. When students expressed concerns about their grades or asked for clarity in assignments, Kara was able to quickly adapt and provide a clearer explanation. Her upbeat personality made the class more enjoyable.
Always having a positive attitude, which is great to have in everyone but especially teachers.
She was very informative, very knowledgeable in the subject.
She knows the subject matter thoroughly
Very interactive with class and assists students.
Kara Miller lets the students work by themselves first to encourage individual learning then she helps them whenever students encounters a problem.
Knows material well. Organized and efficient.
-Easy to approach -Fun class setting making it easier to learn in -Making students aware of study materials
Knows her subject very well
Her teaching desires and understanding her subject well.
She's a good teacher. Always challenging us to think for ourselves.
She was very organized and very enthusiastic towards teaching
easily relate-able and very helpful!
she understood what she was teaching very well. I was never afraid or shy to ask her any question. I have had experiences with teachers in the past who made me feel stupid for asking questions, I never felt that way with her. When ever I emailed her a question she was very quick to respond.
Kara is very knowledgeable with her explanations, I learned a great deal from her walking around the lab with a model in hand and pointing out specific things. I feel that she provided application because she put real scenarios into her teaching.
Major strengths was on the whole class
She was really knew the subject matter and could relate to the age group of the class made the enviorment feel welcoming and relaxed.
She was very knowledgeable with the subject and encouraged us to do independent study but was always eager to help answer any questions and go in depth with the material. She was very clear and fair with quizzes and exams. Though she changed the syllabus a little with our new way to do exams she gave a chance to adopt and even offered extra credit.
She knew the materials and she would pre quiz us if we knew a little about it before we would actually do the experiments
I feel like a great strength of you as a teacher is your desire to really help the students understand the material. I have had multiple good experiences of getting help, even after class time. I am also satisfied with the time taken to help students study by creating power points as a guide.
She makes learning the material fun and easier to understand. Her excitement filters throughout the class. She is very knowledgeable and helps you apply the complex information to everyday life and how it affects your body. Great teacher!!!
She knows the subject material, and she presents the material in a way that encourages learning.
She had great energy and was excited to teach her students about the human body. She wasnt only a teacher but a mentor as well. I LOVED her!
Working/learning with Ms. Miller was a pleasure. She is well educated and was able to answer anatomy questions and bring fun learning into our lab practicals. She was very willing to answer questions and show us all aspects of our lab practicals.
Very knowledgeable. Made class fun and conducive to learning.
She was a very involved teacher. She made learning less rigorous and more fun. She shared her own experiences and storied, related to topic, with the students which I appreciated. Overall good attitude.
kind,friendly and helpful
She's a good teacher. She breaks down most if not all of the course topics into more simpler/layman's termed themes.
She explains things very well and if she doesnt know, she will find out.
She answers any questions we may have & provides explanations that can be easily understood
I think Professor Miller had a great understanding of her subject and was able to answer any and all questions with knowledge and ability.
She knew her material.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
None
no changes, everything was great!
group work muscle experiment paper! having one person in the group doing the work and giving everyone else the credit for easy opportunity to earn the A another student achieved isn't fair. Experiment wise very interesting, writing a group paper not so effectively especially when others don't contribute! Basically stayed up all night emailing back and forth when a student said her phone broke, and her phone actually didn't break clearly it was working when she came to class. Very upsetting about this project.
I don't think changes are needed, she did manage the lab very well. Everything is well organized.
One thing that could be improved is the format for the class assignments/ calendar. It was a bit confusing at first to know what assignments were due and what topics were being discussed. The second schedule (update) was a lot more helpful.
More detailed information about what piece of literature needed to used for specific assignments.
None
Seemed to talk in a very condescending manner especially since it was a introductory class. Very sarcastic and seemed to have little patience. Definitely treated certain students better than others.
N/A
I do not suggest any changes.
N/a
-Just keep on doing what your doing!
Physiology experiments were a bit weak Would have liked to studied cadaver anatomy a bit more even if slides as Models have a unrealistic look Exams need more questions would liked to have been tested on every structure at the minimum
I don't think if she needs changes! just keep up with what you have Kara:)
Maybe give more extra credit, as it was kind of hard for me
I was confused about the extra slides and how to access them. I asked a couple of times how to access them and I was told it should be in my email accout. So I was thinking my gmail, I did not realize there was a kcc account till now. So that's the only thing I would point out. She's a teacher who is qucik to respond and knew what she was teaching well, enthusiastic about teaching, and never made me feel shy about asking questions. I just think it would had helped me if she had mention a kcc account existed.
The testing was not great for me. The best one was the first one where we did an actual lab practical. I found it harder to study pictures and apply them later, I would have been more motivated to spend more time with the models if we were tested on them.
I would suggest that she would give more questions with a couple exams she offered but she did indeed offer extra credit. She was a great instructor.
No changes.
Start teaching zoology 142 as well :)
None at all.
I really dont think she needs to improve anything. Her class was perfect!
As Ms. Miller is a very generous and accomidating teacher. Our course material would be better presented if the syllabus and lab review material were better organized before start of course. As we had a lot of fun learning, class was a little difficult to understand what was expected of us and when material was due. If Ms. Miller could be better prepared for the lab practicals, class and lab praticals might run a bit smoother also. We learned all material but difficult to understand what was expected of us.
Don't change anything, besides some minor mistakes involving being new to KCC as a teacher.
None that immediately come to mind.
None.
None, that I can think of.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Extra credit
- asks is students need any help in class and through emails - will talk to students when they need help in and out of class
being interactive and making the teaching environment fun!
responded quickly to emails, answered all questions in a great way for understanding.
She showed it by answering my emails as soon as possible and she welcomes students in her office anytime she's there.
She was always available to answer our questions during class and outside (i.e. email). During our lab experiments, she would check up on us to make sure we were understanding the material and tried to be more interactive and hands-on. I liked that. I thought it helped me understand the material better and be motivated to learn more.
" you werent in class the other day i was worried that maybe you were sick". - kara miller.
Answered any questions we had promptly
She is easy to talk to and communicates via email. She encourages our feedback
No.
Answered all questions, and helped students during experiments.
She provided extensions to exams and extra credit credit exams.
By helping in test preparation. Readily available and very knowledgable.
-Consistently made us aware of when assignments were due and tests as well. -Encouraged us to study certain materials in advance.
Seemed to care we understood material Very helpful when we asked questions
In a effective ways which makes her good!
She asked us if we had any problems, come see her and let her know we need help.
By being very quick to respond to emails. Always happy to answer questions in class and take the time to explain anything till I understood the answer.
Any concern that I raised to Kara from day one was addressed promptly and professionally. I really feel that she went out of her way to be accomodating to the class.
She made sure everyone understood the subject we had discussed for each class
Yes Kara should great concern for students. She was very accomidating about how we turned in work (email, drop box, hand in during class) Allowed a one week time period to take test becasue she undertands that not everyones schedules dealing with school, work and home are the same or as flexible as each other. Provided extra tools to help to prepare us for test well in advance of testing periods.
She did show care for days i was sick and couldn't make it to class. She also let me make up quizzes and exams and even gave me extra time to study when recovering from a sickness.
Discussed in number 13.
She understood how important our test scores were and posted them within two hours of the class. She also was really happy to help us understand the information and helped to break it down, she stayed when she could have left.
By giving ample time to complete assignments, and extra credit opportunities, to improve grades.
She always wanted to make sure that we completely understood the material before she continued onto anything further. She was extremely interactive with our class and always hands-on.
Ms Miller is VERY accomidating to students and their needs, please don't change that aspect of her.
Kara was very helpful in explaining things when students were stuck. She exercised safety well.
She asked the students whether an online test or in class test would be more fitting. In this she is trying to accommodate to us instead of not caring. She would consistently ask if we needed help during a lab. She was very sympathetic to problems involving a group lab report by giving us all a fair chance.
By providing hours of visitation, and by also reviewing over course material that seemed a bit dense to the students.
She is very persistent in finding the answers you may not know and will make sure you know the material.
She allowed us to provide feedback and showed genuine interest to what we had to say.

Yes I would, she's very interactive and looks like she enjoys teaching and excited about the subject. She really knows what she is talking about. Her tests aren't too easy but they are also not extremely hard. She won't test her students on anything that was not taught or on assignments. She is also a teacher that is concerned about how the class feels about something or questions that you may have but she won't baby you, which is a good thing.

She is an excellent teacher and she is always open to suggestions/ criticism, etc. I can tell that she wants to improve, to be the best she can, which students can greatly benefit from. Her personality and the way she conducted the class made the material a lot less overwhelming and difficult.
Great teacher i hope to have her again maybe as a lecture teacher if she teaches more courses.
