laboratory, i really like how Dr Deenik followed the structure of the outlines he handed out throughout the lectures

- Constant references of important or significant soils here in Hawaii. - Regular mentioning of ag. land soils, situations, and problems.

one more lab were we figure out bulk density, total porosity, air space, EC of two different soils.

37. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

Examination questions, short answers in particular need to be looked at with a more open frame of grading. Key points touched on should receive at least partial credit - instead of no credit. Students who are on the fence in terms of grading often could understand concepts adequately - but lose entire letter grades for each short answer not answered ENTIRELY correct. Also, I felt homework questions were opportunities to learn from instructor corrections. However, corrections consisted only of incorrect slash marks, question marks, and the score at the top of the page.
