20. What changes would you make in the clinical experiences?
A little more hand on experience with patients to practice the skills that we learned
None, Dr.B made sure our clinical experience was conducive to our learning and skills in class.
None. She did the best she could with getting us hands on work during clinicals.
Offer additional clinical sites?
I would not go back to Maunalani as a clinical location. I believe many of the staff were bothered with our presence and did not allow us to practice/improve our skills. Dr. B was great and she made sure to get us as much experience as the clinical site would allow. Dr. B found us the best staff to follow and allowed us to rotate so we would each get to take part in the wonderful learning experience.
changes necessary
I dont think Maunalani is a good place to have clinicals. By the time we get there, The patients are all asleep and dont want to be bothered. I also felt like we did not get as much hands on experience as my other classmates since at maunalani they dont really let students do much other than watch. Maybe if clinicals were in the morning when the residents are more active we might be able to do more things.
I think it would be good if students were told what they are suppose to do prior to clinical so that preparations can be made.
its good the way it is
21. Other comments:
I wish there were more caring instructors in the University system like Dr.B.
Dr. B is a great teacher. She puts a lot of pressure on her students to be there best but she also gives us tremendous support when needed. At times when I was nervous about tasks she was encouraging and helpful but always allowed me to find my own way. She was ALWAYS positive and gave each student fair treatment. I would recommend her as a clinical instructor to future N210 students.
Dr. Ben-Sefer is a great instructor! She shared practical knowledge and asked questions to help us put the pieces together in clinical.
