2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
It was very informative. We learned about managing businesses in other countries which is beneficial for anyone interested in opening or expanding companies.
This course gave me a good understanding of how a manager should work with employees and those with multi cultural backgrounds.
The course material provides in great detail, what you can expect to deal with when in a international business setting. Information was very revealing, and useful to know in future cases.
This course is very enlightening as far as international business and their cultures.
It was satisfactory.
Although I feel the course has helped me understand possible causes of breakdown in communication in a management/business setting, I felt the text only rarely covered how to effectively manage or perform certain tasks.
This course taught me a lot, especially for my future career
This class helped me to understand about our global economy things that I never knew about and gave me an idea of what businesses go through to expand to other countries and why they do it.
N/A (marketing concentration)
This course allowed to me to understand the importance of culture and business.
This course has forced me to read my textbook weekly. Then summing up 5-6 weekly discussion posts; I had to put in a lot of time thinking about what to write and how to write them. Because of this, the concept stuck to my head better and I got to think about it more because I was trying to think of how to write my posts. It was a challenging course for me.
Time management was the most important. I was forced to learn about many things, but at times felt there was very little instructor input and teaching present.

5. Please comment on the activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve your learning.
The discussion questions were time consuming and although it forced me to read the chapters and learn the material I don't think that it fostered discussions.
I think the professor doesn't need to change anything.
I wish I had taken this class in person and not online.
It should be credited as a writing intensive course.
Unsure.
He did a great job to incorporate every aspect of a course
There is nothing that I think should be added to improve learning. There is a lot of work in this class that helps you to learn each subject.
N/A
I don't have any suggestions.
Keep the weekly questions and case studies, but for the discussion part probably limit the focus to one to two points to keep the discussion more relevant and hopefully better discussions can arise (this is where the professor's input can be applied). The final project seemed to be a bit sudden with no prior development for it as the semester progressed, also the overload at the end was overwhelming. large research paper, final essay exam, weekly questions, case study, another discussion, mini paper kind of condensed all at the end when all other final projects are due as well. The final test should be pushed back to probably the same week as finals, not the same time as the paper.

16. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
It was fine, not very fun or interesting. The class was informative though and we learned a lot.
More original material coming from the instructor would be nice. An instructor who just teaches straight from the book by just assigning readings and discussions quoting straight from the book is no better than just reading the book on our own outside the class.
I was very happy with professor keaunui's teaching style.
I would suggest changing the amount of work due at the end of the semester. I feel like some of the work is devalued because of the amount that needs to be completed. I would take out the final weeks assignment but still have the final project and exam.
Professor Keaunui is an excellent teacher and his styles and methods helped me to retain knowledge that can be applied to my career.
It should be a writing intensive course
Unsure.
I honestly have none, he did the best he could to conform to everyone's schedules.
I have no suggestions for improving the course. I think Mr. Keaunui is a great teacher for this class.
Can't think of any.
No suggestions.
Online classes are sometimes difficult to justify as they seem to be self study courses and that there is only a course moderator instead of a professor like in a traditional classroom setting. More involvement is always appreciated from the prof.
17. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
I wish that he contributed more to the course than just assigning and grading assignments.
He is a great teacher and was always around for help and was completely understanding.
A good professor who truly care about student learning.
He has proven to be reasonable and fair in his grading of material and timing and length of deadlines.
My overall evaluation of Professor Keaunui is A+++++.
He's well educated with the material.
A good instructor, but the chosen textbook could have been better, I feel.
He is an excellent Professor!
Mr. Keaunui is a great teacher and he has structured this on-line class great which helps a student to learn each subject. He is there when you need help and he makes me want to do my best.
He's very fair and I'm thankful to have had him as my instructor for this course.

20. My overall evaluation of this course is...
It's a fine self-study course.
Great course
This is a good online class that allows students to be enlightened with a different view on managment.
Very informative and plenty of useful information.
I LOVED this course!!!!
It was satisfactory.
It was a good course; informative and an appropriate workload.
Great!
I would recommend others to take this class with Mr. Keaunui because students will enjoy this online class with him because he doesn't make this class difficult and he encourages interaction with all classmates .
Tolerable only because of Professor Keaunui.
It was very informational.
Very challenging.
21. Other comments:
The text was very dry and hard to read. I would suggest a different text book one that would foster more discussion.
Hope you had a good winter break!
I wrote at least 25 pages worth of paper for the entire semester. I think this should have been a writing intensive course.

Even though this is an online course, Professor Keaunui did the best he could to make it seem like it was a classroom course

I spent so much time on this course that I felt that I shouldn't have taken a full load of courses. It would have been better if I only took 6 credits total during the semester I took Busa 386.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
This course was taken as an elective, but I chose it because it falls under Business Administration, which too correlates to my major in Accounting.
I learned so much during Economic Analysis and Market Audit because I had to do a lot of searching about the country that I would like to market product or services someday. Also reading the textbook helped me a lot to process weekly homework.
Professor Keaunui, although a rigorous course, designed and organized the class for students to gain a comprehension and understanding that aids in enhancing ones knowledge as it pertains to the course and major more specifically.
Time management
This course provides excellent information to understand what it takes to be an international marketer. Personally, it gives me an better advantage on how to handle various situations and to realize other cultural views and systems and how to negotiate an agreement. As a professional I intend to utilize these skills when making decisions.
I am a business major and international marketing has helped a lot about different marketing strategies, negotiations towards different countries, and how such values and symbols are interpreted differently from other cultures or religions.
This course enhanced my professional development for my concentration by extending my knowledge of American business and applying it to a broader range to international business.
It was not taken as a requirement.
This course taught me the general principles in regards to international marketing.
It gave me a better understanding of how much culture can effect business and business transactions.

Chat session for me is not necessary or even online discussion because I spent most of my time doing reading, posting and writing on country notebook. It was too much for me already and I thought three comment posting is enough but I must be at least two or more paragraph in each postings.
overall good course. however, could use power point slides summarizing key points of specific chapters.
It may be interesting to witness or hear from a real international marketer and the trials and tribulations he or she has endured.
I think this class was a bit challenging but rewarding for me because i've learned a lot, so there is nothing to improve in this class.
There was a fair range of resources that was already included in this semester. I liked the different videos we had to watch and that helped covered what we were learning. The textbook had information that helped me learn about international business.
Group project. I am online and never get to interact with classmates. I will be working with other in marketing when I graduate so these group skills would be helpful.
I don't think anything needs to be added.

16. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
Clearly define the comment due dates in an additional column in the assignments list. It will make make everything more clear.
I would suggest to reducing the amount of postings and require a number of sentences in every postings. Reduce chapters to discuss and focus more on most important chapters. Give more time to do final paper. Additional time of doing Essay test during midterm and Finals.
Less discussion questions especially since we also have to respond to 6 classmates and example of written paper to refer to, or even a rubric.
maybe study guides may be useful to future students.
Sometimes hearing a professional marketer's rendition could be useful and effective to stress real-life situations. Learning of Professor Keaunui's new class for Spring 2014 might give him the opportunity to try, I'm very excited for him.
I think that there was too much work in putting with the analysis which would be included in our paper. I'm not sure if it mattered to do it or not because I'm not the type of person who does many outlines for a paper.
Edward's teaching style and methods were clear and easy to follow. He made the course challenging and interesting.
-cover less chapters -remove requirement to use outside sources for exams -decrease peer responses for our discussion questions it is just too much assignments and too many hours spent on one single course. We do have other classes we must do work for.
For discussion posts, I feel that the amount of questions needed to be reduced. Towards the end of the semester, I felt rushed to just answer the questions and couldn't give it as much time to think about it as I did in the beginning. The use of YouTube videos was a great way for us to visually understand the concepts and to have a better understanding. Please provide more videos in your future classes.
Group work
Since this was an online course there were a lot of discussions on laulima. However, they were basically questions out of the book, which lead to basic book answers. It would be nice to have a couple of questions that really lead to a discussion about the subject, rather than, Hi___, I like your answer. Mr. Keaunui is great at these kinds of discussions in his classroom, I would like to have more of them online too.
I have no suggestions.
17. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Excellent professor with real-world experience.
He seems like a great professor when it comes to online. He responds back quickly via email.
Professor Keaunui gave an excellent amount of homework and he was able to keep up commenting on Laulima postings. Students tend to get lazy when they don't see any comment from the instructor.
He's a cool teacher
very good. professor Keaunui made the course challenging but very insightful that heightened my knowledge on the topic with a greater level of understanding.
Really there for you when you need him, great professor
He has been very supportive to online instruction and has extended himself through the semester with a chat session. His response on discussions has taught me the importance of what each chapter focuses on and allowed an opportunity for the class to express their ideas which is very admirable. I am proud and confident to have chosen Professor Keaunui as an instructor for an international marketing course.
Prof Keaunui is a lenient teacher. Although the class was challenging, it was definitely rewarding.
Edward is a great teacher and very helpful. The things he choose to discuss helped me learned about international business. I gained a great deal of knowledge from this course.
Excellent professor and person. Ive had him both live and online and I can work either way with him. He is readily available and makes time for his students. Hes a great benefit for UHWO
Professor Keaunui is a great professor. I like his teaching style.
He is a great teacher and easy to talk to. I would definitely take another one of his classes.

20. My overall evaluation of this course is...
It's a good course and much of the material is reemphasized from previous BUSA courses.
It was quite challenging considering that discussion posts were due quickly every week. The marketing plan outline somewhat helped me but it was a lot of work given 1 point each and it took me hours to complete one outline out of four.
It is an excellent tool for learning international marketing especially for people who would like to market products or services in their future.
rigorous but necessary for comprehension and application.
Great course Edward was very helpful
With trade expanding globally today, I felt an international marketing course was crucial to learn. Understanding differences in cultures, languages, customs, laws, regulations, to name a few, has to be handled accordingly and taking this course from a Hawaiian made me feel more comfortable to engage in this course. A great deal to negotiating agreements in Oceania has to be handled in a special way other than how trade is dealt with in a country on a continent. I hope to practice what I have learned in this course during my business transactions.
I've learned a lot in this course.
This course was a little challenging but still very interesting. I enjoyed learning about different approaches when working with an international business.
I maybe just complaining, but this course had too much assignments. The workload was that of a summer course, two chapters a week, six discussion responses, and sometimes more. Cover too many chapters will make most students not pay attention to the content of the chapters, but basically try to get the work done. I believe that it would have been more effective with one chapter a week, so that we can concentrate on a single concept. Exam is unfair, because we had to use outside sources. I understand that 24 hours was given to do the exam, but there was no real way to prepare for the exam. I know what the professor said that we should have been more prepared, but how can we prepare outside sources for questions that we don't even know will be asked during the exam. It is very difficult to look for a source that backup your answer than if it were the opposite. Most hours of the exam was spent searching the Internet to look for a source that maybe used for the exam.
A+
I learned a lot. However, there was an excessive amount of work per week.
I would recommend this class to future students.

Merry Christmas & Have a Happy New Year!
I would like to thank Professor Keaunui for taking the time to teach us International marketing. Just knowing that he is there and ready to comment and give advice makes the world a better place. Thank you for his patience and dedication to make it happened.
Please take into consideration that some of us are working students, who come from a long work day and spending 5 hours plus to do your assignments can be an intense. Along with the exam, it took me almost a whole work day of 8 hours to complete with having to find other sources on top of the book resource.
An important factor that affects my beliefs is how certain situations are decided when doing business internationally. What I have noticed is that what may work in one country may not work in another. Hawaii is a very unique place that has been labeled what others see as a necessary economically progress. On the other hand, what is neglected to be recognized is the history of Hawaii and how it was able to be sustained way before European discovery for a long time. What works in the mainland will not work in Hawaii until what is wrong is made right.
Keep up the good work Professor!
Last week of lecture: 12/4: Watch video and respond to six other student's comments 12/5: Country research paper : Final Exam ch.10-19 12/6: Final 3,000 word paper This is just far too much work in one single week. I would not recommend this course, unless student is taking no other courses.
Look forward to taking more classes with Prof Keanui.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
It allows you the experience in how to conduct ones presentation skills.
I felt I definitely gained quality experience in working with people and dealing with deadlines. By the end of the course I felt the biggest thing I was able to walk away with was the focus to details and digging deeper into the information. Also, I believe my public speaking skills improved.
This course help me realize that there is more to marketing than advertisement. We need to know all these aspect to make a marketing plan be successful.
It helped my professional development because all we did was present present present. So I guess it made me a little more comfortable to talk infront of people, when the time comes.
Course presented content in an interesting and engaging way.
It taught me how to write and think as detailed as possible.
This course enhanced my presentation skills and provided the ability for learning though research and practical application.
This course helped to enhance communication skills and cooperative group work by assigning activities that lead to presentations in a hypothetical setting. The class was very interactive and allowed me to work with many different people.
It showed that I can sell anything
This course is a core course for my major, it helped me understand the concepts of marketing, and how important marketing is to a business. Also, helped my public speaking skills!
This course opened my eyes to the world of marketing. Prior to this course, I thought marketing was the easy way through a business degree, but that is the very opposite. This course illustrated how diverse of a field marketing can be. Essentially, It encompasses just about every discipline in business from accounting such as budgets to psychology throught market segmentation and so forth.
I learned what it takes to start up and run a successful business. Also how to market to specific target markets and how to see a business as a whole. I also learned that it is important to be confident in your product that you are selling.
i have enhanced my skill to speak in public
This class taught me marketing skills and performing speeches.
I feel more confident when it comes to public speaking thanks to this class. This class was very interactive and the people were very accomodating and laid back. Everything had purpose and meaning. This class taught me a lot of skills in regards to the marketing world.
Before this class, I didn't think marketing was relevant to my major or career path, but after this class I realize that marketing is relevant to everyone. It is important to know how to conduct yourself and present your ideas in any setting, and I have improved my ability to do so because of this class.
significant
It helped me get a better understanding of how to market a product and understand the reasoning behind it.
This course provided me a further understanding of the elements and thought process involved in starting up a business and marketing it effectively to consumers. Professor Keaunui made class fun and highly interactive with all the students. This provided a more hands on approach to the learning process of this course and allowed us to implement various key elements we learned from the course textbook.
This course helped me with presentation skills and becoming a more persuasive person.
Simply great hands on experience, great setting, great practice.
It has definitely improved my presentation and speaking skills.
It made me more comfortable speaking publicly.
I'm sure my major/career goals require me to work well with others. The amount of group work in this class exercised my communication and team work skills.

5. Please comment on the activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve your learning.
To be able to work on the final project since the beginning was a good way to understand the workings of creating a presentation.
I did like the utilization of the online resources and presentation aids (PowerPoint) as well as email communications.
Maybe a little instruction from our professor. It is sort of a self learning class, but I feel like if I wanted that I would've taken the class online.

Having fewer students in the class would allow the Prof to focus more.
No activities could be added to this course to improve my learning.
A remote/clicker that can be used to direct Powerpoint presentations shown on the projector, which is an integral part of the class's weekly class work. Other classrooms such as D250 are equipped with this remote.
Nothing it worked for me
None, everything was provided
At first, I was hoping to have less group work and more lectures, but in retrospect the activities given worked better than any lecture could.
Maybe some short quizzes at the end of the chapters.
we did presentations every week with different group memebers
Less presentations.
More time spent on the explanation of marketing concepts.

The final project of this course was the overall highlight. The final project incorporated both technical and creative aspects of this course. Although I personally despise public speaking, along with the help of Professor Keaunui and my peers I was able to improve on my public speaking skills and help my fellow group members put on an awesome presentation. With the mini presentations that were conducted throughout the week, I would suggest a little more in class time for preparation for the presentations. Or perhaps, combining 3-4 chapters together thus allowing more preparation and research time for the presentations or notifying students ahead time who is in which group and the subject they are to cover.
More homework.
This class was complete. Nothing needed for improvement. Organized and Fun. They're are a million fun activities.
The weekly oral group presentations and online discussion questions provided by Mr. Keaunui are more than sufficient to learn the required material for this marketing course.
I would have liked more evaluation and feedback after each presentation. I felt after presenting every week, I would not know how to improve or what I could have dine better.
6. Please comment on if the instructional approach or approaches to this class helped your learning, and if not, why not?
It was good.
I liked the focus on presentation rather than book related focus, also the week to week relation was interesting as well the only thing is I think the chapter assignments should cover the material we will work on that week rather than after presentations.
There was no instructional approach. Well except for the constructive criticism after our presentations, and I liked that a lot.
Helped learning and kept information interesting
Students conducted most of the teaching by preparing presentations over each chapter of the required text.
The instructor offered tips and suggestions on how to approach a project, while allowing flexibility on how it is implemented.
I'm good, but my OCD would let me leave this blank
Helped my learning because he was very understanding that everyone isn't great at public speaking. Tired to make everyone feel comfortable. And he explained what he wanted clearly.
In the beginning, I was disturbed by the approach taken by Mr. Keaunui, but looking back at the course I understand why he took such an approach. I subconsciously learned the concepts through real world application by actually preparing a marketing plan and presenting it amongst my peers.
Yes the instructional approach helped me in learning because he taught me how to think outside the box and to analyze situations in the marketing economy.
he helped us see companies from a different point of view
The instructional approach was geared more toward speeches. Students would form into groups and then come up with a speech. It helped to work together and learn the material related to our speeches.
The instructional approach was lacking when it comes to discussing the chapters in class. But it was a different approach because the instructor pushed us to read the chapters and be able to apply it and present them in class.
It definately improved my ability to present in front of an audience.
superb
It helped because we actually were the ones presenting each chapter and its better to understand it from your peers than that of the professor.
This course was highly interactive with everyone in the class. This took a hands-on approach to learning and allowed for better comprehension of marketing elements. This course allowed me to not only learn key marketing elements and understand them but to also apply them.
It helped because the teacher helped us to learn through a unique technique of teaching.
Having presentations every week ensured reading of the chapters and working diligently.
Professor Keaunui's teaching approach requiring weekly oral group presentations and online discussion questions, allow his students to retain the information learned not only thru textbook reading but also hands-on thru the weekly presentations. Professor Keaunui provides constructive criticism motivating his students to better themselves in their presentations in each coming week.
It did. The curriculum was hands on and made it easier for me to focus and follow.
I loved the group work. I felt it brought the class closer which made it easier to make friends and study groups for the exam.

13. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Team work and cooperation.
-group communication -time management -detail orientation
The ability to work on a team and to work under a tight schedule to get a assignment done was most valuable.
Learning how to QUICKLY come up with a presentation.
Marketing plan
Learning how to present in accordance with marketing.
Learning how to present in front of colleagues.
By having weekly mini-presentations, it allowed us to prepare for the final presentation by working on aspects of how we present. This build-up leading to the final presentation allowed us to adapt and refine our presentation methods.
Being me and "BACON"
I think that the group presentations leading up to the final were most valuable.
The group setting was the most valuable. In the real world marketing is all about speaking and meeting the needs of others in the work field. The group work got me comfortable for public speaking. It instilled confidence in me over time.
Talking in front of people.
Having to do presentation as different companies and also working and learning with other students.
i feel that interacting with one another was most valuable because it helped us to present at a better comfort level
Group work. Working with teams to come up with speeches every week.
group presentations and discussion questions.
The presentations forced us to understand the material because we were using it in simulated real life situations.
all
The scenario presentations
The group presentations were the most valuable. This made me want to go to class and willingly participate in group discussions and projects. I did not want to let my group down. I wanted to ensure that I was doing my part and helping out my group members as much as possible, especially with the final project assignment.
Powerpoint.
Hands on type experience. Mock presentations were extremely valuable.
Although this course doesn't count towards oral credit, I truly believe the weekly group presentations were the most valuable aspect of the course. It's easy to read a chapter and answer questions. It's also easy to "data dump" (or forget), if you're just reading to complete a homework assignment or upcoming exam. However, reading a chapter and applying the concepts learned thru a group presentation is what allows me to retain the information.
Public speaking was common place and it helped me grow in my speaking abilities and confidence.
Learning from other presentations. Observing and evaluating other groups to improve our own.

With the next group being once a week only I suggest the chapter materials being covered for the week be assigned I the discussion questions before the presentation assignments. I don't know how you plan to work in the weekly presentations either, but maybe present in the first half and get with groups at the end? Good luck with the two sessions next term.
Shouldn't have weekly presentations.
I understand where he was coming from with the "putting the terms into action" by making us present what we learned. BUT 1 day? That's not enough. Especially for those that despise presenting in front of people. We joined marketing not because we want to be a marketing major, but because it is required for accounting or finance majors. Which is sticking our heads into the books.
Homework should be assigned prior to the weekly group presentations so we can better utilize the time in class set aside for group discussions. More often than not, we spend the class time figuring out the chapter and not focusing on our ideas.
Class is beneficial for marketing majors as it is set up to teach students how to market products effectively through presentations.
Go over material in class before assigning presentation for that chapter
None, it all worked for me but I did need a redbull every now and then but because the class is late in the day but still good
Maybe less presentations, or more time to work on presentations.
As I stated earlier, I was expecting more lectures and much less group work, but in retrospect the way we were taught was the best means of learning such a field. Knowing the answers and material is much different than actually putting them into action. I feel as though I am able to manage a marketing department at this point.
None.
i think that we should have a little bit more time to prepare for our presentations
Maybe not as much work.
less presentations.
More time lecturing on marketing concepts could make presenting easier.
superb
Can not think of any.
I love Professor Keaunui's teaching and style and methods. He really cares about his students and their success within his class as well as outside of class. He has a knack for pairing students up in groups. In my final project group we all seemed to complement each other very well and worked well together. This made class more enjoyable and fun to attend.
I believe that doing more homework out of the book would help some students with learning the material.
No suggestions.
Since this is my first marketing course, I don't have a similar course to compare Professor Keaunui's teaching styles and methods. Therefore, Professor Keaunui should continue his current teaching style and methods.
Excellent course! Please teach a management course.
more feedback after presentations. Give students a better idea of how much time is needed outside of class hours.
27. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
a good professor that easily demonstrates his craft.
Overall a lot of work, but I had a lot of fun and was engaged throughout the duration of the semester.
He cool and understanding. He is willing to help if you ask for it.
Professor Keaunui is awesome! and he takes our personal struggles into consideration, which is a great thing too. BUT he expects us to all be comfortable with speaking in front of people...every week. Give us some time to breath please.
Great teacher
He is a very passionate instructor who has good intentions.
Willing to help students aside from just in class. Would show up to class early in order to help students set up for their presentations. A critique would be that there was not a lot of time given for preparation of projects which meant that each week a lot of work was dedicated to organizing, researching and preparing group presentations.
energetic and helpful. Very educational and entertaining class
Easy to talk to, firm in his decisions but at the same time, allowing room for flexibility depending on the case. Well-articulate, and helpful, especially with offering to help on his own time to meet up with groups in preparation for the final presentation.
Teaching style works and made a possible boring class very fun
Excellent, he was easy to talk to and understood the needs of each student.
His style is far from conventional, but quite necessary. After I actually accepted and opened up to the approach he took I learned a grat deal of concepts that I am to take with me and apply to my field of work.
I think he is a great instructor and I am really glad that I had the chance to take his class. He is patient and he really cares about our success. He is always available and goes the extra mile for us.
a very good teacher i would recommend any student to take his class
He is a good teacher and is willing to help students.

Excellent
Professor Keaunui is an excellent instructor. I would recommend his class to all students. He kept me interested in the course and made me want to be sure to attend class and participate with our group discussions and presentations. Professor Keaunui is straight forward and if you are willing to work hard and challenge yourself he is going to be sure to help you every step of the way.
Great teacher. Enthusiastic & interesting.
A very very unique one of a kind teacher. Enjoying class is somewhat of an oxymoron going together but i genuinely enjoyed this class. Best college class taken so far.
Professor Keaunui provides a learning atmosphere that motivates his students to excel each and every week. He was always available to answer a question, even minutes before a group presentation. His willingness to meet groups outside of campus and office hours is what sets him apart from other professors. He truly cares for the academic success of his students. I also appreciate how he allows his students to let their creativity flow. He provides more than enough resources to have his students succeed (i.e. critiques from previous students who attended his class, constructive criticism, referencing real-life situations/companies so the topic is relevant, providing acknowledgement for job well done... the list goes on)
Awesome instructor! Look forward to hopefully seeing Professor Keaunui in a management course!
Awesome teacher. Goes above and beyond to make sure he's available outside of class. Is understanding and considerate towards his students. Gives just the right amount of work to challenge you, and gives positive reinforcement. He makes the class enjoyable but needs to give consistent, constructive feedback.

Out of 10 a 9.5
Two thumbs up even though I was always cramming and practicing right before class.
Good.
Love the teacher but dont exactly agree with the way he teaches.
Great class
On a whole, very good for sophomore college students, not suitable to the individual who is unable or do not want to commit the time.
Great instructor and course
Great course for marketing majors. Overall, most of my time was devoted to this class because of all the presentations we had to prepare for. The fact that the students taught each chapter forced us to learn the material. The class was very effective in the sense that we had to learn the material in order to present it correctly to fellow classmates.
entertaining and worth the late nights.
Very interactive, very social, and contained a lot of material to work on in a small amount of time. This was a fun class.
Like it but the text book was a bit on the wordy side
Excellent, learned from the book, teacher, and classmates!
It was tough. I spent hours upon end with my marketing group. Like I said earlier, It was not until I gave his teaching style a chance that I began to really benefit from the course. As I look back, I am thankful for this course and the concepts Mr. Keaunui taught me.
I think the course is designed well. It covered everything we needed to know and it was easy to understand.
very fun. if i could do it all over again, i would
Overall this course was a different way of learning the material. It was a good experience and I learned a lot.
above average
It was very different and forced me to go outside of my comfort zone, allowing me to develop skills that I didn't realize I had.

Great class for the understanding of Marketing.
Excellent course and an even better instructor. Professor Keaunui is the best instructor that I have had so far at West Oahu. He made me want to come class early just to hang out with my group members, he made the learning process educational and fun.
My favorite class!
A+
Although I consider this course to be the most time-consuming, I do look forward to coming to class each and everyday. I think this is the first course that I've actually attended all classes without skipping (except for the one family emergency). I remember being excited and laughing each class session because group presentations were entertaining. It allowed our personalities and strengths to be displayed. I'm glad this course was my first course taken at UHWO. It has definitely eased my mind in knowing UHWO was the right college selection for me :)
Very informative!
Fun but more time consuming than I thought. It met my expectations learning wise. Challenged me, but did not kill me:)

Should Professor Keaunui offer to teach any other courses I would definitely register for them. He is an awesome instructor, who cares a great deal about this course as well as his students.
A+++++++++++
Thank you Professor Keaunui for your time and dedication invested to your students. You've made this semester challenging and entertaining. Thank you for not taking a traditional route in teaching - textbook and Q&A only. The weekly group presentations not only allowed me to retain the information but also improved my presentation and speaking skills. Your class provided a sense of business reality. It required time management skills; how to work in groups (similar to a business setting), and gave us the pressure, and, at times anxiety, that our careers will probably give us in the future. You're an excellent professor and any student is fortunate to be sitting in your class under your instruction. Mahalo!
super crowded classroom. If there were less people, maybe we would have more time for constructive feedback. I understand it is a popular class.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
I learned a lot about marketing thanks to Dr. Edward Keaunui.
This was a fun and lively course to take. It also was a great way to fully understand the concepts of the course.
I liked how the class was taught in more of a real world situation instead of just reading the textbook.
This course was taken to fulfill course requirements for my major. This course helped enhance my personal and professional development by making me able to control my fear of public speaking. I am not a creative person but this class made me have to be creative because of the presentations we did in this course and for the first time I was not afraid to share my ideas with others within a group that I was assigned too. I feel that this course has made me feel more confident.
This course taught me the many terms that I will have to be familiar with in my career. The language, form and techniques of marketing that I learned in this class is essential for my success and am very grateful to Professor Keaunui for teaching them to me.
This course helped me understand marketing concepts. I have gained more knowledge and skills that I can now use.
This course helped me interpret what was learned in the text through individual and group presentations in class.
This course taught me the importance of Marketing and Marketing techniques in the business world.
The class discussions and weekly presentations definitely helped me become a better presenter.
This course allows me to use what I learned in the classroom and implement them in real life experiences. For example, doing weekly activities has made me more comfortable in presenting in front of people.
I like the fact that we do presentation as a class activity every week. It is a good way to give us practice and learn how to do marketing presentations in real life.
It gave me a new perspective on the Marketing industry and furthered my interest in the field.
interactive class! great for associating with other students
Helped me understand, how marketing worked and how it would help in the business world.
It did help somewhat. I am a finance major and I am not really sure why I needed to take a marketing class. I did learn business skills that I can use in the "real world".
Mr. Keanui has helped me understand marketing more proficiently.
It helped me understand marketing concepts.
This was my first year as a Marketing major, and Prof. Keaunui's gave me an incredibly solid foundation that I can build my subsequent classes and degree on.
My major is general business administration and for this marketing class we had to do oral presentations almost every time we had class and this enhances me personally and professionally in my field of study.

Just a little more feedback on assignments.
The only thing that I would suggest is that before a project is to be created and presented that just for a few minutes review chapter or chapters related to the presentation. The times that we did do it in class help me to better understand what was expected for the presentation.
Professor Keaunui actually did a really great job at making the class very interactive. Not only were we assigned a group whom we were with for the final project, but every week we were put into groups to present with new classmates. I don't believe he could have done anything better because I felt that the course was really well thought out.
At the beginning of the semester assignments were due on Thursdays. About midway, the assignments were due on Sundays. I liked turning my assignments on Sunday because it gave me the chance to complete it without rushing. I also liked doing the activities in class. It was very helpful.
I thought the activities where excellent for learning in the course.
Put up some power point slides to highlight the chapters.
Honestly, I am satisfied with the work load and structure of this course.
Although it was fun having weekly activities to cover concepts, sometimes having lectures might be good for a full understanding.
I like lectures even if their only for 15 min.
Very fun, but learned a lot.
A few field trips to some marketing departments.

I really enjoyed the level of student participation that was required in order to take advantage of what this class had to offer. I wouldn't have changed anything about my experience.

16. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.

I have no suggestions for improving Mr. Keaunui's teaching style and methods because his teaching style and methods are excellent.
People have different ways of learning, but in the case of this particular course, I enjoyed very much having to present marketing scenarios on a weekly basis. Maybe some students would have been more comfortable with a lecture type of setting, but that would no have been a productive way to learn the core principles of marketing. So essentially, we learned how to work with many types of personalities, which taught us how to work under pressure and succeed. Thus, I cannot think of any other way this course could have been improved because I was quite impressed with the variety of methods he used to teach.
There isn't anything to improve on. Edward Keaunui's teaching style and methods were clear and helpful when learning the materials.
One observation I would like to input on pertains to the final project. Have the group due the a presentation in the middle of the course and then again for the final presentation.
Less mini projects, more focus on final project.
In regards to the final project presentation groups that are preassigned, I would have to suggest that each group have a good ratio of members with specific skill sets.
Please allow more time for doing weekly activities.

There were too many presentations and not enough lecture time. I felt that a presentation every week was excessive.
It;s perfect. no need to change anything

None, everything was great!
I thoroughly enjoyed this class and I feel like I learned quite a bit; I have no suggestions that could improve upon Pro. Keaunui's style or methods of teaching.
17. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
outstanding. I hope to attend another course with this instructor.
Professor Keaunui is a great professor, and would take him again if he were to instruct another business course or like speech.
great teacher
He is a great teacher. From the very first day of class I felt comfortable being in his class. I thought I was going to struggle in this course but I think I did pretty good and it is because of the way he taught the subject. He takes interest in his students and he wants us to do our best. When we do presentations his constructive criticisms are very helpful and you always know that he does that to make us better and know what we should work on. He even took the time out on the weekend to meet with my group for about two hours to work with us on our final project and never rushed to leave he waited until we were ready to leave. He is the best teacher I ever had so far through all the years I have been attending college.
After completion of the course, I could very well tell that Professor Keaunui put a lot of time and effort into making our time with him as productive as possible, and I felt his methods were effective in reaching his goal. He made the class interesting and encouraged everyone to be on time and not skip class and he lead by example. I will recommend his course to everyone I know whether they are a business major or not. The skills he taught were absolutely significant to any career.
He's a very informative teacher and very knowledgeable in the subject. If he were to teach other courses, I would definitely take those courses.
Excellent format, the class was always engaged in presentations.
Mr. Keaunui is an excellent teacher. He finds ways to teach the students outside of the box so that their learning experience is enjoyable and memorable.
Professor Edward Keaunui is a very enthusiastic instructor and definitely has a genuine passion for his students to do well in the course.
Excellent. Not only was class enjoyable, but we also learned about marketing concept while doing fun activities.
Mr. Keaunui is a great instructor! His teaching methods are different from most but they work well. Instead of lecturing, he provides projects that making learning the material easier than hearing a lecture on the subject would. He has a great attitude and treats his students well. Mr. Keaunui could teach a few other instructors I've had a thing or two on how to successfully teach a class.
I like the way Professor Keaunui made himself available to us outside normal working hours to help us with our group project.
A grade A professor! Very engaging and his class is very hand on which keeps things interesting. Highly recommended.
great professor! very interactive class and i enjoyed the interaction with other students! you definitely get to know your group members at the end of the semester.
He is a very good professor and i would recommend him to everyone.
Very good teacher. Very knowledgable and makes the class fun.
he is a very good teacher
Loved this course, hoping Edward Keanui is able to teach more classes, one of the best teachers i have ever encountered with.
He is good and knows his subject.
Prof. Keaunui was an excellent teacher and taught a very well-rounded, engaging marketing course. It's very obvious that he loves what he does and his enthusiasm is infectious. If anyone else who took this course doesn't feel the same way, they have no business in the field of marketing.
He know's what he's talking about and he makes it fun to learn and at the same time challenging.
Very effective teacher, especially for gaining personal presentation skills. This class helped me a lot with presenting in front of a group of people.

20. My overall evaluation of this course is...
great
The course was awesome with Professor Keaunui.
great class
This course was fun. I learned a lot about marketing.
I loved it. Every class was interesting and fun, yet challenging and conducive to my major.
This course was very interesting. I learned many terms and skills for this field.
Great course to practice what you learn in a real life setting.
Great course to build the foundation of business.
I definitely enjoyed this course because of the hands-on learning experience through the group presentations. Overall, great teaching style compared to the lecture-only courses most professors teach.
This course with Professor Keaunui was very enjoyable. He made me look forward to coming to class.
Great class, great teacher!
The course is great very helpful to those who are interested in marketing or even business as a whole.
great class! enjoyed getting to know professor and other students. the difference with this class and others is that you work closely with other students and get to know them, rather than just another face in the crowd.
Very fun.
Very good course. I do not see why certain concentrations would need this course if they are not pursuing a marketing degree.
Loved this course
A
This course was a great way to begin my education in Marketing and I would recommend it to anyone who showed an interest in taking a marketing course.
Excellent!
I really enjoyed this class.

I think students that take this course with Mr. Keaunui will enjoy it. It's not a boring class and there is a lot of interaction with all your class mates and even with the teacher so you become comfortable enough were you can be yourself and enjoy and want to attend class.
I would like to suggest that Professor Keaunui be given the opportunity to teach a Speech class. I felt that the techniques and methods he used to teach us about the core principles of marketing were comparable to that of the lessons one learns in a speech class. Therefore, I felt (along with many of my classmates) felt that he should be teaching a Speech class in addition to this one. I think many students would benefit from his lessons and am confident that he would be perfect for the position.
Mr. Keaunui ROCKS!
Thank you for a great semester! I will give you good ratings on RateMyProfessor.com!
I really recommend Professor Keaunui. If he did teach other courses, I would most certainly take it with him! :)
It's a shame Prof. Keaunui isn't available to teach other Marketing (or public speaking) classes. He is a marvelous educator.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
It helped me to speak infront of people and gain knowledge on the marketing side of business
I learned how to market products.
More aware of the marketing process and a better understanding of the inner workings of businesses.
It taught me the basics about marketing. Also it put me in a position where I knew how it felt to be responsible for something as large of a magnitude as advertisements. Thinking about the script, the length, the depth of what you present.
This course helped me to understand the accounting aspect of marketing its one thing to have a great product but there is other aspect when it comes to marketing it like the budgeting and what best way to spend it. also its important to utilize the the tools you have in order to save money and spend it else where. Marketing helps you to better understand your resources and how best to use them.
It helped develop my presentation and people skills for working in groups.
helped me to understand marketing better
I learned a lot more behind marketing which helps me interact with our marketing department at work and I understand how it helps out sales and business.
No. This course should have been given as an online course since the class was tasked with presenting for the entire semester.
It provided me with different marketing methods that I had not thought of before and showed how in depth marketing is.
good information
I learned a lot, but I invested a lot of energy in this course

5. Please comment on the activities or resources that could be added to this course to improve your learning.
We had five presentations thoughout the semester and discussion questions every week.
I wish he would teach the class instead of us having to teach ourselves.
Quizzes to show if students are up to date on assignments.
I think it was great. the reflection questions on the chapters did well to make you think more critically about what was being learned.
i think it great to incorporate public speaking into the class because many people have problems with it. the idea of having groups teach the class is good but not for the entire semester. with students teaching students not much is learned i for one was not comfortable teaching something i didnt fully understand myself. Mr. Keaunui should have had groups teach one day out of the week and he do a recap the next day that way students feel they are learning and understand the correct material.
more actual study of terms
I liked the oral presentations, maybe more structure on what should be reported in each presentation but I like the flexiability it allowed for creativity which made it fun and interesting.
This course would be best administered as an online course.
more lectures needed by you.

7. Please comment on if the instructional approach or approaches to this class helped your learning, and if not, why not?
Presentation did help out on the marketing aspect of class.
I would have liked it better if the instructor went over the chapters instead of just having us read it. I do understand that us presenting was leading up to our final project, however there were some things in the book that I was still fuzzy on even after reading.
with his approach i dont feel i fully learned the material, students teaching student i didnt feel was helpful. some times it was helpful it the group teaching make a strong effort to convey the material. many times groups were just presenting to present and werent covering all the information. he should of had the groups teach only one day of the week and he do a recap the next day, that i feel would have been more effective.
it helped in that we applied the basics of marketing, but we should focus more on the terms in class.
The approach he used was team collaboration and team work. It works directly with my field of study which is business because you have to be able to work with various parties of people on several different projects.
Having the students present each learning objective for each chapter is not what I paid for when I enrolled into this course. How can a student learn anything from another student who's trying to learn the material as well?
I would have preferred more lecturing by the teacher. If not, an Oral Communication designation would have been appropriate since we were essentially teaching the material to ourselves.
you learn by yourself while the professor judges/evaluates.
I think having our classmates present each chapter every class period helps a little because they made it easier for us to understand the book by putting the definition of each chapters in their own words.
The instructional methods employed by the instructor were very displeasing. A lot of pressure was put upon the individual student and I don't feel a comfortable environment for learning was not factored in by the professor's approach
8. Please comment on how the resources (textbooks, other reading materials, visual resources (powerpoints), etc.) used in the course helped your learning.
Full use of textbook, a lot of information was covered.
no comment
the textbook was very important being that we had to read the chapter to teach the class without it i wouldnt have been able to do the assignment.
helped alot
Presentations of the chapters made it more intersting and collaborative dicussions helped with different view points and added learning.
The textbook was helpful
The textbook was a great reference point for gathering information. It wa really easy to understand.
The textbook was the only resource that was used. I could have learned the same amount just by reading the book and not going to class.
a little.
the resources we used in class were really helpful especially our textbook because it made us understand our lectures easier.

20. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
He should add in his sylambus that the students are teaching the class. Meaning, presenting to class assign chapters to present because in the beggining we were only getting a week in advance knowing we were presenting. Later we knew in advance when we were presenting which was helpful.
He kind of had an attitude in the beginning which most of us didn't like it wasn't professional. Needs to be nicer.
Scrap the final presentation and instead use multiple presentations or smaller scale projects. Also, include the use of quizzes instead of chapter presentations for easier tracking of class progress.
only suggestion was said in question 7
don't let us teach ourselves...I could have taken the class online
he could improve his teachings by teaching one day a week. like i said it was good to have groups teach a chapter but not for all the chapters. it would have been better if he had one group teach for the week and he do a recap the next meeting day. that way as students we feel were learning the correct material
more focus on book work
none I liked this course and the way it was presented
Actually lecture or use powerpoint presentations rather than make the students teach the course.
Lecture instead of the class teaching the class. Many students have taken lower division marketing class that is similar if not the exact materials learned. Marketing should bring a uniqueness to those in the marketing field of study.
I think he could of lectured just a bit more on class days instead of leaving for our weekly class presentations done by students
Actually teach rather than making students present the material.
be more organized be more of a teacher like.
it would be helpful for students if he elaborates more on the important chapters rather than having his students explain it in the class because sometimes students cant really explain what the chapter is about.
Show patience with the class. Acknowledge (personally) that all students may not be the best students that can possibly be encountered. Acknowledge that all students are not created equal and that a student may not be able to be molded into the ideal student within the time frame of a semester.
21. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
He should do lectures i in between groups presenting. My favorite presntation was our final project. That was fun to do.
Should teach the course instead of students. I learn from watching a powerpoint and taking notes it's hard from just learning from other students because they're not great at teaching.
Scrap the final presentation and instead use multiple presentations or smaller scale projects.
only suggestion was said in question 7
lecture more
only have groups teach one day a week and Mr. Keaunui the next day. have a clearer understanding of the group project be clear on what is expected and whats needed.
more videos and bookwork
none
visual aids
Curriculum development.
be more active
more fun presentation (games)
22. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
He is he is a very understanding professor. He has a lot of knowledge and I wish he did more lectures instead of us students presenting all chapters. But presenting was great and also good practice.
Good professor, very helpful and available to anyone who needs help. Flexible with the schedules and always keeps everyone updated on information.
He's a good teacher, just had a different teaching style then I was used to. Usually I'm listening to teachers and learning from what they say. this guy put us on the spot and told us to do our research on how to improve. Not my favorate thing, but definitely effective.
my overall evaluation of Mr. Keaunui is that hes a good person very understanding and looking out for his students i just wished he would have given more of the lectures that way i would have felt better about what i was learning.
great teacher
Great class, promotes creativity and learning through team work. Perfect experience for the work world.
Has knowledge but failed in teaching the students
Although a great person to understand. We are his students and not his friends, therefore, he should have taken charge this term and actually teach the students.
Fair and understanding professor
He cares about his students and I have no doubt in his teaching abilities. He just needs to work on actually developing materials to teach. The problem is more in the design of the course than in the instructor.
Good instructor and having the students present chapter material gave each student important practice for their final project. Having the students work together on a group project also will benefit most of the students in their future endeavors.
it was ok
he was a fun professor! :)

this course is a good one filled with lots of information and is relative to the real world and i feel is very helpful when taught accordingly.
great class for marketing students
Great! I will recommend to others
Below average course that should have been given as an online course
Why did I have to take this class, when I taken a lower division marketing class that is the same at an upper level.
I would have rather stayed home and read the book.
This course receives an A in my grade book.
ok
Actually quite bad. Would not recommend this instructor to anyone.
