She encourages us to email her about anything anytime. She is very open and answers emails promptly.

She was always there to answer my questions.

She is an excellent teacher and I have learned many usual information from her

I really felt that Vanessa Cole wanted me to succeed in this class. She never berated me for a dumb question.

Yes because she is the best teacher I have ever met. I think this is because of her long years of hardship and esperience.

1. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?

I found most valuable in this class is the differet management styles we were exposed to and can make our own style.

I enjoy the hybrid factor in the class

I really liked the Connect quizzes and the in class lectures. The lectures were short and to the point. We had just the right amount of time in class to learn the day's lesson.

The information presented, especially the terms and theories.

The Lectures and in-class excerises were very helpful in the learning process for this course.

helped me understand what management is and i used this outside of class

I found the lessons from connect very informal and useful for my future goals of opening up my own business. The presentations also helped me familiarize myself with the management tools that I could benefit from as well.

That it was a hybrid course, and that the teacher was always available to answer any questions that anyone might have had in this class.

I was in a process of starting my own business and needed to know how to begin. I was overwhelmed of the lack of information I needed, I thought I would get some managerial information for my community volunteer services. Well I got more than what I expected, I was learning about globally managerial from small one person company to large businesses.

I like the fact that we had that one day of in class learning. It helped you stay on track for the rest of the week and allowed you to have both the independent distance learning option as well as to interact with the teacher and teammamates. I really liked that.

2. My overall evaluation of this course is...

This is a great course because we learn a lot from this class.

Good class, knowledgable teacher

Good course. If you want to you can get a lot out of the class.

This course was challenging and difficult but Vanessa made it very understable. I have learned many new things about managing and I know I will continue to use the skills that I have learned, for the rest of my life.

It was a very englightening class that will continue to help me years down.

I enjoyed this course, but I did not like the connect activities at all.

I have my GE lic., my company name Flying Misty Water, and getting my produce ready for sale. I did the right thing about this class applying everything I learned from Miss Cole to my business.

i actually gained a lot from this course. I figured out at the end why we did all the exercises that we did both in class and through researching management styles and jotting down our bullet points. when it came to making my presentation i felt i was very well prepared and actually learned a lot about myself as a manager or the type of manager i wish to be.

She would always ask us if we need help with anything.

She responded to emails and was available before and after class for questions

Answered questions promptly, emailed students if she noticed they were behind on work

She helped me get caught up when I fell behind and excused me from class when I was ill, and when I was unable to make it into school.

This semester i fell behind after the deaths of 3 family member and Vanessa was very compassionate and gave me time to make up the assignments.

She made sure we were aware of the assignments, projects, and tests deadlines.

She was readily available to answer any questions that students had, and she was very helpful.

Miss Cole kept an open contact with e-mail or cell to assistance with homework and classroom discusion.

She was able to be flexible when needed but helped us to do well in the class.

GREAT TEACHER!!!

Very nice

I feel so very lucky to have had Vasnessa as my professor. She has been a positive influence in both my academic and professional career. I truly admire her leadership and wish many more faculty members were as dedicated as she is to her students.

Fun, energetic teacher that made it clear of the concepts of business management.

I think that she is a great teacher, and I enjoyed taking her class!

Miss Cole experience on on the computers was a great help.

Good mixture of learning tools and I came away with a lot by the end of the semester. thanks!

I would recommend this class to other students because it's a great way for up coming managers to learn other managmet styles.

Ms. Cole would take time to go through information that students did not understand. She is a very structured and strict teacher, but she is very good and knows what she is talking about. I recommend her to anyone who wants to learn a few important basics.

For me she really help me out with my class work.

She always stressed that if we had any questions or were confused to contact her immediately. She is so prompt about her responses.

She takes the time to help you if you encounter a problem with the assignments. In addition, she makes herself available to students. Most teachers take a while to respond and she's very prompt, which makes me feel like she genuinely wants us to do well in her course.

Emails to let us know when she is available for help

Vanessa Cole helped me outside of class time when I was stuck. She was very patient and guided me through the problem. She also responds to emails very quickly.

Before the semester started I emailed her asking for an override for her class because it was full and she responded almost immediately with her approval. She has also been available for questions and takes the time to actually answer them.

I think she is really concern with her student.

She knows her stuff and seems like she really enjoys teaching it and cares how the students are doing as far as their enjoyment and understanding.

I enjoyed taking her class online, she is very organized, and lets you know any due dates way ahead of time.

Yes, because she is clear and concise and teaches a lot of useful information. Also, she seems really nice.

Yes. Doing a distance learning course can be very time consuming. Professor Cole understand that we all have obligations to things outside of this class. Her method of teaching is effective in that she assigns a fair bit of assignments and material to cover - but she simplifies things in a way which makes it easy to remember.

She showed her concern by getting back to emails really quickly and always encouraged us to ask questions!

She e her self available on the weekends online prior to the homework due date, so she can answer question through e-mail. And she understands most distance learning students have a full time job, can only do homework on the weekends, there for she make sure the due dates are reasonable. Web site development are very hard to teach through on line class. She did a great job explaining and designing the course.

She took the time to individually look at assignments to ensure that work was done, even if they weren't turned in online. She gives ample room to do the work, offers opportunities to make up for late assignments, and has pushed deadlines if asked.

Ms Cole shows concern for her student by responding to their questions very promptly with great answers and suggestions. This is really critical when taking an on-line class.

By providing individual assistance and help to students, and making herself available for any extra help that students may need.

She sought input from the students, individually and frequently. She created a relaxed, encouraging environment in the classroom.

She was willing to help each student with their individual issues related to the class. She was usually available to help students for two hours prior to each class session. I could not have learned as much as I did without that.

Allowed extended time to complete our homework, when she could see us struggling with some of it.

When I had a hard time understanding what she was saying for her class. She helped me get through it.

The hands-on use with Adobe Dreamweaver.

The ease and flexibility in course work and assignments, with regards to the amount of time given to complete them not their difficulty level. Essentially, I never felt an unnecessary amount of pressure in getting work done, their was always ample time given.

I don't think any of my other instructors covered on how to use laulima, but with Vanessa's site, I didn't need to have it explained. In her course, she stressed useability and accessability in web design, her laulima site definitely shows this.

I found the website project very valuable because it was a hands-on opportunity to use the skills learned in class.

We were able to work on the assignments hands on rather than just reading how to do it.

Vanessa herself and her willingness to explain things. I have a learning/processing disability which leads me to ask the same question a few times even if I had got it once, I may not get it today. She was kinder than most in helping me.

The fact that the teacher loved to get in there and answer any questions you may have, and help you to the best of her ability.

The most valuable and helpful thing I learned from taking this course is creating a website from scratch.

It broadened my knowledge on website development by using Dreamweaver.

I learned a lot about website design, HTML, and Dreamweaver.

The step by step instructions on how to complete assignments.

Professor Cole was available for help very often. She responded through e- mail urgently and diligently.

In this day and age, I am satisfied that I have the knowledge to develop a website.

I think the online presentations were extremely helpful.

This course could be improved by adding in more a hands on to the coding side. And be less relient on the application to do it for you.

For the most part, there is nothing I can think of to really improve. I do feel the lectures were not nearly as helpful as working directly with the programs, but at times, the lectures were more about other things, such as HTML coding and javascript, which is solely there for the information.

Offer it in the Mac lab! :)

More follow up courses in the evening.

Since i have little to no back ground for computers, a little more illistraions or links to explain terms would be helpful. The places i tried to look up these terms just used a lot of jargon.

Allocate more time to learn the software Dreamweaver.

A required introductory course textbook would've been beneficial. The online link to chapters from a textbook wasn't all that great for introductory students.

Can't suggest too much, her online courses have no book costs, is taken from Yale an ivy league school, and she is available during open lab if you fall behind.

Can't think of anything at this time.

I have no recommendations on how to improve this course. I like the course the way it is.

The course is good, The professor is awesome. It's time consuming and alot of you time has to be put into the creation of the site. It's overwhelming if paired with 4 other courses... I suggest this course to those students that have time and don't have children at home... Then they will be able to create a nice site.

I would prefer the instructor had finished designing the homework assignments before their start date, that way I can work ahead. But that is really minor.

This course helps you to learn certain things but the projects are too detailed and takes way too long to complete. And we have these projects almost on a weekly basis which is too much if you are a full time student with other classes as well.

The instructions were clear but I wish there were more video demonstrations.

4. What did you like most about your online course experience?

The most thing I liked about taking a online course was that I didn't need to fit it in my schedule then if I was to take it in person. It saved me a lot of time so I could work.

That I could just do my work form home.

I had much better experiences with other online classes. This was the most difficult online class I have taken so far in the three years I have been going to school.

When taking an ICS course, I find that online is better most of the time. Since most ICS classes are teaching about computers, for me, it is easier to learn on a computer.

There is a pro and con to this I feel. I believe it would work both ways for anyone taking the online course or being a classroom setting. It's up to how the person feels it would be best for them.

The thing I liked least about online was that I got confused at times and I didn't have people to ask because it was online.

That you couldnt get all the help you wanted. Responses from the instructor would take a while. And you couldnt do it on your own pace.

Skype, or some type of open lab online might be nice, if possible.

I am trying to take most of my furture classes online. There is a little disadvantage not being face to face with the professors, but with technology that can be fixed.

She didn't really help with questions or concerns that I had. I took an online class for the reason that I am a full time student with other classes and homework to do and I work full time as well, and she still expected people to go to W.C.C. and go to the labs.

I enjoyed working on the exercises that she assigned to us students. Some were tough, but rewarding when you completed it and looked at the finished assignment.

It was online and most the things that we had to do was online.

It was a good experience because it made me actually have to find my own time to do the assignments. I did have to do a lot of them at school because the software was not readily available for me at home.

For this course, we made use of Dreamweaver CS4. It is a great program, but you must learn how to use it. She does a nice job teaching us certain skills to create webpages. The only difficult part is learning how to use dreamweaver if you've never worked with any sort of web design software. There is a lot to learn about web design. More information about using dreamweaver would be nice to have.

Since I'm currently on the mainland, I couldn't attend any workshops or go in and get assistance.

She tells us to send her emails when we have questions, or visit her at her lab hours or office hours. She wants to help us when we get stuck on something.

She constantly was urging students to seek help if needed. She set up workshops and was at the computer lab for as long as anybody needed help. She showed concern in every way possible.

By having open lab for us to come in for help.

She understood that it may be hard for us to do things on our own at home so she made herself available on tuesdays and some thursdays in an open lab as well as her office hours and ALWAYS available through e-mail.

She was actively involved. Every week she sent out e-mail explaining what was going on for the week. She also sent out e-mails reminding the class if they need help she is available, the computer lab is open, and to feel free to email questions to her.

She's a nice teacher to have for this course.

She is an excellent professor.

She is a nice and caring teacher.

She is well organized and is very helpful and understanding. Always promotes asking questions so that we do well and so that we understand what we are doing rather than just going through the motions.

I felt she has a great understanding of the subject matter and is passionate about it. I found it easy to ask question, even though I didn't know what to ask.

It was a new experience of which I thought was refreshing, though perhaps not for me.

I like the most is just the experience in general. I was stuck a few times but I came personally to get help.

Instructions for exercises and milestones were clear and easy to follow. Ample time was given to work on assignments.

Gained knowledge about topics I wasn't too familiar with. Was able to attend class at times that were most convenient for me. Didn't have to physically commute to class.

I liked the online course for the privacy and ability to study on my own time. This allowed me to relax, while suffering from extreme pain and discomfort. I did not need to worry about disturbing the students or instructor.

That it was very convenient for me to take.

I had a hard time with my own will power to keep to the work.

It was harder to learn the material online, I guess I'm more hands on.

More mini exercises would have been helpful - sometimes too much time passed between exercises so I would forget some of the steps - but then I could have also disciplined myself to practice more!

Resolving technical difficulties sometimes took longer than I would have liked.

There was no video to show exactly what the instructor had written about. There is no one who can see what I am doing wrong or right. There is no one to see what is wrong with my environment that is causing this pain and suffering.

I guess the subject matter was a bit difficult if you never made websites before.

Some of your instructions are difficult to understand and there are little mistakes in the instructions here and there. It can be very difficult to complete an assignment with these obstacles in the way.

She is very understanding when you miss class. Just talk to her and she will try to help.

She would constantly come around and check to see if we had any problems. If we did, she would try to help us solve our problems and then let us continue from there.

27. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?

I like how she puts all notes on the internet.

I liked how there was plenty of time in class for both practice and projects. It made everything easier to get done.

She was really open to questions and really encouraged them.

She gave us an overview of what we needed to know and gave us a lot of time to complete our assignments.

That she was very helpful, and made sure no one was lost.

She knows a lot about computers and was able to pass on some of her knowledge.

Well, it was pretty boring, but what can you say...it's ICS. She did the best she could have done with the course at hand.

i really liked that we would have the lecture for the first part of class and than an exercise to follow on what the lecture was about. i am a "hands on" type of person, so this style of teaching helped me to learn as I completed the assignments
