4. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Everything
Knowledge
I believe that pretty much all of the topics covered over the course of the semester has improved my analytical abilities to some extent. In general, my analytical thinking skills were always somewhat limited, (in my eyes of course) and I believe that taking this course has refined the groundwork for myself to build off of later in life.
Everything!
The course was taught in a way in which i could immediately use the skills in the real world. It wasn't a bunch of useless information from a required class, it was a foundation to be used in research I know I will eventually conduct.
Everything! They are all important terms to familiarize yourself with.
All of it. Especially the ANOVA tables
The teacher he really knew how to connect and explain this area of psychology to a range of different people and learning styles
I know that all aspects of the course is useful for the future, I think the most important ones though were the t-statistics and z-statistics, though it seemed like a handful of work just to get scores organized and calculated I know it is important especially if you want to have a career where you have to do research and gather data.
I deepened my understanding of topics that I knew about and didn't know about. I learned a lot of new things that I never heard of before, such as: Z-scores, T-statistics, and F-statistics. I also learned more about correlations and sum of squares that I had learned about before
Spss
Ability to access and print out the power point presentations that were used in class; classes were always well organized and material was thoroughly covered.
all was valuable.
All aspects are equally valuable because everything from the course will be useful in my future career, whatever that may be.
Understanding the concept of how important the statistical aspect of caluculating the chance of a significant effect on actual tests and hypothesis.
All the things that we have learned are valuable because i do believe that it will help me throughout my course
5. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
nothing
I don't know
I don't really immediately recognize anything in the course that wasn't valuable, but it would be interesting to have the course and lab section on the same day. Similar to how some classes meet once a week, it seems as though students may get more out of the course if they complete a lab that utilizes the skills learned in the lecture immediately after said lecture.
No one aspect of the course was least valuable. Everything was a must!
There wasn't enough time to complete homework thoroughly, so I rushed through it and basically didn't gain a complete understanding until after my homework was graded (usually with a very low score)
Every portion was valuable.

The most least? I think all aspects of this course was valuable.

14. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
awesome
Great prof
In general, Alexander Nagurney is one of the few professors in my college career thus far that has made me like attending class. As tired as I might have been coming to class every morning, there was something about his teaching style and the material that made the start of my morning a little easier.
Professor Nagurney is awesome and so is his class!
He is a wonderful professor, and I think I can say that I've met a future mentor.
That he is great!
He's bomb.
If I were to tell some one about him I would strongly recommend that they take him as a teacher he's always down to help you In and outside of class and is always friendly and understands how to teach from different points of view very good teacher
He is nice and knows his stuff well. The course itself is hard but I think he did a good job teaching it. He would make sure that everyone was on the same page and caught up when going over examples which was useful.
Professor Nagurney is a very good person to talk to and makes learning about statistics really easy. I had no previous knowledge about stats, but he still made it very understandable and easy to learn.
Yes
I enjoyed taking Dr.Nagurney 's statistics class as he is a knowledgable and personable instructor.
He is a fine professer
None. I never really took the time to evaluate his teaching because he is extremely familiar with the course, and how to teach it. He is a good professor.
Professor Nagurney is an amazing professor and from taking this class in high school and almost completely failing to taking a college course on it with greater understanding and patience proves he can teach the material and make it interesting.
He teach PSY 213 really well and I recommend that he'll teach more of this class.

I believe that Alexander Nagurney will continue to enrich students with his invigorating teaching style, and I'm hopeful that students will be able to benefit from the class in the same way that I have. In reality, I absolutely despised the fact that higher levels of Math were required in nearly all college majors. Being that this class fulfilled a Stats credit that was required for my major, I reluctantly signed up for the course. While the idea of taking such a course was intimidating at first, I felt compelled to continue learning and implemented the usage of the material because of the professor. Overall, the professor is excellent at what he does, and complaints are hard to muster up. Simply because, I don't really have any complaints about the course or the professor.
Reevaluate the grading strategy so it works more as a positive learning tool, which would enhance the students' ability to learn from their mistakes and at the same time improve their grades (opposed to having a negative effect on grades due to minute mistakes, at times). Additionally, it would be most helpful to review certain homework questions in class post grading. ;)
Give your future students a week to do homework like you said you would! Other than that, you're a great professor. Thank you, see you in methods! Moooooo!
You are the best!!!!!!!!

I know constant practice is good for us. However, for every hw assignment there's 20 problems and each one of them have part a, b and c. It can be really difficult for students to keep up. Specially for students that work and have kids. I think half is good enough and the student still gets plenty practice .

4. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
I valued all aspects of the course. In my opinion everything that was taught, was done so in the right way and the right order. Lecturers were clear, making it a lot easier to understand the material.
It really helped following the power points.
It was good to get back in to mathematics while the emphasis was on something I loved. The instructor was a very valuable resource in this class as he calmly and thoroughly explained everything to us more than once.
Learning about the different kinds of scores. (z-scores, t-scores, and such)
all as I'm majoring in Psychology, and I appreciate how to summarize my collected data.
I think that the labs that correspond with the lesson was helpful. I liked the feel of the class, it was the thing that got me through the course.
The professor was very helpful through out the whole course. I got a really good understanding of the topics.
The class size. It was smaller which made it more interactive. The step by step process to make sure that each part of the problem was understood competely before moving on.
I feel like all of it was valuable since each leads into the next chapter or the chapters after that.
all
Memorizing all the formulas
The level of the speaker was absolutely incredible. The balance between lectures and assignments help us to learn right away. The instructor was patient and knowledgeable.
finding whether data is actually significant/relevant, quite useful when analyzing studies
Professor is very organised and helpful
Evaluating data to see if it is actually significant by analyzing it with the appropriate formula, etc. It is very interesting to be able to know how something is defined as "significant" and not by math.
5. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
n/a
Sometimes the multiple explanations seemed to confuse some students and throw them off track.
N/A
None.
none
Nothing really was invaluable in this course.
The length of the class, two and a half hours. Sort of long but it was needed to get through the material.
I feel the least valuable was a bunch of the power point slides we just skipped over it since it was a lot of words but could be summed up easily.
none
None
There was no aspect of the course that was disappointing. The professor was well prepared.
the labs were confusing
I wish we had more time to finish homework.
It depends on what data you are trying to analyze and what problem one is trying to solve, everything is relatively valuable but it depends on the situation you are in. I saw value and importance in almost everything we learned. Boring? Tedious? Yes, indeed so especially after a long day of previous classes. But after a stressful day the homework and overall course work is not too bad, and can even be enjoyable.

14. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Professor Alexander Nagurney is a wonderful teacher. I have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to other students. Nagurney is very clear in the way he teaches, he makes himself available and is eager to help anyone who needs it. Along with being a great teacher, he is a great person as well. Very kind, easy to approach, and very understanding. He also makes classes interesting and can be a very humorous person.
He is a very patient and helpful teacher.
Alex is a very friendly and pleasant person to be around. He is very patient with students who are having difficulties and does his best to try to find a way to explain things to them so that they can grasp the concepts.
I think Dr. Nagurney is a cool guy. He is very friendly & I love his sense of humor. He is available in his office hours in case if you need help.
He gets an A, he was available outside of class, and understood his subject well.
He was a great teacher, he was very helpful and very understanding. He was very clear when teaching with helped me a lot because I was able to grasp every concept.
The best professor I ever had in my college life.
He is a great professor. He is always willing to help you step by step. I never felt nervous or scared to approach him when I had a question. He also brought the class together and it just was an overall safe and comfortable environment to be in.
I liked him as a teacher and that is the reason I am taking a class with him again. I also recommended him to my friends.
really good instructor. easy to talk to and very good teaching style
a 100 percent. He has helped me when I barely passed the last semester. I could not understand the last professor I took. I felt as if Psychology Statistics was not an interesting subject, but Professor Nagurney changed my perspective about it. I have learned a lot from him and I will take this learning experience with me to improve my learning skills in any subject.
Awesome teacher!
Very friendly professor. And helpful. He is always willing to help and answer all the questions.
Great, he kept the class challenging but was helpful enough and also good enough at teaching so that it would be clear to understand the course work.

Love this instructor! Look forward to taking as many of his classes as I can in the future.
I feel like for the homework, Dr. Nagurney should've given us a week to finish instead of the next class. I say this because making it due the next class is too crammed (especially when we are learning new concepts of Statistics) that some students (I've notice) are not doing so great on the homework. Even if it is due the next class, he should at least give us a lee-way in which if we miss a hw assignment that we can turn it in the next week with no penalty or Alex can drop maybe two hw assignments.
I would strongly recommend taking Statistics from him.
Awesome Professor, great course, and I will miss this class so much.
I liked how when we had labs he made sure that we all helped each other to make sure we all knew what where doing. I also like how he looks over our test and tells us if we left a question blank in case we missed it when we where doing our problems. I liked how we had a test review packet that was similar to our test and that he would post of the correct answer on Laulima for us to see what the right answers where.
I'm glad we have a potluck! also very pleased with office hours, always available
I like being in this class. Class was always very interesting.
Thanks for being a nice and awesome teacher Alex.

I liked knowing how these statistics applied to real life studies
The sled shows in class and the examples that he's showed us was what really helped me.
Everything I have learned in this course is valuable for me especially when it comes to applying it with my major.
I really enjoyed learning about Z scores.

Explanations of different concepts and opportunities to practice problems in class.
I loved that we had a teachers assistant. Also My professor was an easy going teacher. He taught the class well, and I actually grasped the topic. This is my second time taking this course and this became one of my favorite classes. Alex made this course enjoyable and I really with that he was teaching methods next semester. He is my favorite teacher.
Since I am going to be majoring in experimental psychology, a good basis of these statistic methods is essential
In class lectures and great power points. Some teachers aid helped also! Especially for the labs. Maybe alittle slower with the explanations, examples to make sure it's clearly understood by the students.
All of it is valuable in view
The availability of the tutors and the times available.
The power points are extremely helpful but a few are missing hw assignments on slides I think it would be great to add that on those just to avoid confusion. I love love love how you take this overwhelming subject and teach us with a great sense of humor everyday.
Professor Nagurney explained procedures very interesting and it was understandable
The sense of support from Dr. Nagurney and the other students was the most valuable aspect of the course. Also the fact that we had a teaching assistant, Kana, was critical to many students success and we could not have done as well without her. Dr. Nagurney and Kana were always available during office and tutoring hours and extremely encouraging in their attitudes. Dr. Nagurney's positive "You can do it" attitude gave me strength to endure the hard work of this course. Many students wanted to follow him on and take the Research Methods from him but it is not to be. He is a great teacher; we could use more like him!
Labs
While the class was, overall, useful for developing my understanding of psychology, I would have to say that the part I found most valuable was Nagurney's ability to relate concepts to students lives. It made learning a bit more practical and allowed us to see the real life applications of what we were learning.
The practice problems in class followed by step by step explanation of how to solve them. (The visual work on the board)
Application towards major

Remembering formulas and when to use them.
I think that a lot of content goes into test maybe breaking test up into chapter test. Testing each chapter separately.

The rest of the class.
I don't really think there was a "least valuable" aspect of this course. The class built upon itself so everything we did was essential at least in the respect that it allowed us to understand a larger concept.
The computer labs.
Some parts will hardly be used in real world

14. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
An overall awesome teacher! Really friendly, always has office hours, very easy to talk to. he is always ready to explain things to you, very patient
I came into this class horrified and by the second class loved it. The teacher is the make it or break it for most students success. He nailed it making me feel smarter than I problem am and I believe him so I did better and even if i fail which a lot of people do Im okay with it because it had nothing to do with the teacher. This is the UH nothing is easy and if you want it yowl get it and I will never give up Im Portuguese lol.... Hopfully i make it with a passing grade!
an awesome professor!
He's an amazing teacher and I will try to take more classes from him.
He is a very understanding and well rounded teacher. By being fair and strict at the same time allows him to gain respect very easily.
He is a great teacher who explains concepts clearly and thoroughly. He creates a safe learning environment and develops a sense of community in the classrooom.
I would Give him An A. Alex was an amazing teacher and I'm actually a little sad that the semester is coming to and end and that I will no longer have him as a teacher.
He is a kind and understanding professor, a little more friendly than professional
OK but need to make it simpler to understand.
very good teacher. I have had him for a total of three (3) classes and each time he is knows what he is talking about, well prepared, and helps out his students a bunch.
Alex is a great asset for the University of Hilo.
He is a great teacher and we were lucky to have him.
He is a very excellent teacher and manages to explain concepts clearly.
EXCELLENT! He makes learning fun.
Prof. Nagurney is awesome. Statistics, not so much.
Alex is an interesting teacher. He's friendly and approachable as well as focused on getting students engaged and interested in the work. He's energetic and keeps classes entertaining as well as informative. The only downside that I've seen is that sometimes his answers are a bit ambiguous. More often then not he gives a good explanation of the material, but on occasion he ends up talking in circles failing to really answer the question. I don't think he realizes he does this and it doesn't happen all to often but it can be a bit confusing. Other than that one small quirk he's a good teacher and I hope he gets even better with time.
Nagurney is a great professor.I really appreciated how willing he was to help me with homework during office hours, or before/after class. He also explains things very well during the actual lecture and at a good pace.
Nagurney is an extremely nice and well rounded professor. He makes the effort to help each student out with the things they need.

Loved the pre tests and the time that him and Kana spent helping us with the homework!
Professor Nagurney was very helpful and empathetic when sharing STATS with the class.
Alex is amazing. Never fire him or let him go. He is a great teacher and I will be looking forward to taking other classes that he teaches.
Overall, Nagurney is a very organized, friendly, organized professor who truly cares about his students and their success. He always makes himself available and is very patient when assisting me with work. He has a clear understanding of how to meet students where they are at and as you know, statistics can be quite challenging, yet he never makes you feel uncomfortable to ask questions. I would highly recommend students to take stats from Nagurney and believe that if it werent for his excellent teaching style and personality, I would not have learned as much as I did this semester. Mahalo Alex for your outstanding teaching!
very hard to grasp.
I'm glad I decided to take this course with Alex. Awesome choice on my side.
This is a great course and Professor Nagurney is an excellent teacher for this course. More students should have him as a professor.
I have never seen a person so enamored with cows... take that for what you will.
The study guides are a good resource that you provide to the students. It really helps.
Nagurney is a great professor and taught the subject well.

5. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
I found the papers valuable when trying to apply what we've learned to real life, but if I'm to address the class in general then I would have to say that the powerpoints were a godsend. There is a lot of material being covered in class and while I'm usually able to grasp the major concepts and ideas, the names and more specific terminology can sometimes slip me up. Alex's powerpoints were indispensable when it came to studying because they did a great job at condensing all of the information we we're given.
I enjoyed the chapters containing the different types of personality and the different sexual psycho developmental phase of personality psych
All areas that were taught was information that I have used to better understand myself.
Learning about how personality is gained though our environment, life experiences, and biology.
Relating what we learned in class to real life examples helped to deepen the understanding of the concepts learned. Learning more about our own individual personality was very fulfilling.
Applying what we learn in lectures to analysis of our own personality. PowerPoint slides were easy to follow lectures and review afterwards. Review sessions were great help.
The aspects of learning about how personality is formed and what key aspects of our past lives affect the person we become in life.
All the aspects were important because it taught me more about myself and helped me to learn more about personality of psychology.
I really enjoyed the person-situation interactionist approach. I could connect with it more than a lot of the other approaches.
I really liked that Alex put the power point up before class on laulima. This way I could either print it out or have it on my iPad, while Alex teaches. It helped me focus more on what Alex was saying in class, rather then trying to write what was on the power point. Also, I liked the book that Alex picked for the class. I taught it was an easier book to read then other textbooks I have had previously. I could actually understand what the textbook was telling me.
I found the concepts behind the theories and rationale behind the logic very interesting.
-Learning about interesting topics such as seeing what both genders see in each other and what both genders look for in a relationship.
learning about different personalities and their associated behaviors
It was interesting, and I enjoy professor Nagurneys humor.
Learning the cognitive approach to personality because it helped me out with my cognitive class
- learning about the different aspects - learning about the different contributors to personality psych.
The professor teaching it.
The different psychological approaches to psychology and how they can be used when we do become psychologist.
taking the LBTI, person-situation interactionist aspects, anxiety, 3 types of conflict
Traits of personality.
The aspects about people's different personalities.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
The weekly quizzes, while useful for judging if we've been reading and paying attention in class, can be a bit of unnecessary stress. I mean, I wouldn't suggest cutting them out, but perhaps give them every other week or just weigh them a little less. Other than that they're not to bad I guess.
I found the research portions of the material the least valuable although it was informative.
None
No study guide for exams.
Late grading of papers
The aspects that I least enjoyed was the fact that it was not as hands on as most classes. Or the fact that we had a quiz every week. Plus that we didn't get a study guide till the class before the quiz.
None
Though I know he's important, I'm kind of sick of learning about Freud.
Playing Jepardy as a way to help us study, wasn't that helpful. None of the Jepardy questions were on the exam and it didn't tell me what parts to study for. Although, I am thankful for the extra points I received in playing the game.
having a weekly pop quiz
There wasn't any aspect of the course that wasn't interesting.
The hour long movie on the history of the lobotomy was graphic and I feel unnecessary my learning experience.
Nothing
POP QUIZZES and PAPERS! The pop quizzes didn't help with my learning and the papers were pointless. I felt like we wrote papers just for the grade and not because it actually helped with anything. I could relate the topics back to my life but it was a pointless paper.
The boring chapters (there were only 2)
None, i think all the information presented was vaulable.
using jeopardy to study for exam2, weekly quizzes (only because half of the time I wasn't prepared)

15. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Alex is a good teacher, a happy guy who obviously enjoys his work. He has a positive attitude and it makes his class great at the best of times and tolerable at the worst. I don't think I'd be alone in saying that Alex's personality alone is a big reason lots of come to class because, beyond simply being a good teacher, he actually makes the students feel at ease. A great guy, if not a little quirky, but hey who am I to judge.
Professor Alex Nagurney is a caring and understanding instructor who comprehends the criteria and is passionate about the material he teaches. He explains all tops clearly and in an interesting manner. He creates a comfortable and intriguing learning environment for his students and listens to any questions, comments, or concerns they may have. He takes what the students say into consideration and knows how to talk and work to his students on both a professional and personal level. All in all he is a great teacher and takes pride in what he teaches.
AWESOME !!!!!!
Good teacher.Enthusiastic about what he is teaching. Gives a nice general overview about Personality Psychology.
Alexander Nagurney is a great teacher. He is kind friendly and always willing to help if you ask him.
He is an amazing teacher. Every his lecture were interesting and made me think how each theories and ideas can be applied to my own personality, experience, and people surrounding me. He was nice and friendly through the semester and tried to answer questions from students as many as possible. He was well-prepared for each class and used various materials including videos, personality tests, and slides to motivate students, I believe, at least me. However, grading papers was late, which is the only part I can think of as negative side.
That he is very compassionate teacher and was so very helpful when it came to helping me when my grandpa passed away this past semester, as well as my aunty passing. He was a good teacher and had a lot of good teaching style.
That he is great professors to take Psychology courses from.
I give him an A. He's fun and interesting and facilitates our learning. However, he doesn't always take command of everyone's attention. Probably because he's soft-spoken, which is fine, but sometimes people drift off.
Awesome!!
Awesome professor!
a good Teacher. Teaches the material pretty well and seems interested in the topic discussed
He is an awesome teacher and one who also is easy to approach.
He is a competent and engaging professor who makes students feel comfortable.
Amazing teacher! One of my favorite teachers I have had throughout my college career
he's okay. I really enjoy this topic and I find it very interesting, I just have a really hard time paying attention in class or even wanting to pay attention in class because all he does it read off of the PowerPoint - I can do that on my own time. I wish the class was more engaging because it's so interesting..
Dr. Nagurney is a most excellent instructor and relates well with his students. Please give this man tenure!
A teacher who act loves what he is teaching and is prepares to teach his students the topic in the class.
he likes cows, he is somewhat sarcastic but that's what makes his teaching style great, he is easy to talk to about areas of concern (confusing material/grades/etc)
He is a great instructor who explains things in the easiest way possible.
Nagurney is a good teacher; however, I believe he relies a little too much on powerpoints sometimes, and he could use a little more interactive and exciting things for us to do considering the course material is really interesting.

Make an exam study guide to help students study. Don't show so many videos in a row for a particular theory, maybe space out the movies. Overall great course, and very interesting.

Really loved the insights into personality this class offered.
maybe not have a weekly pop quiz
I would have liked to receive a study guide for the exams since there was some material on them that was not covered at the review sessions.
Overall, a great class and a great teacher! Can't wait to be able to take more class with him!
I didn't like the exams because of the way they are worded. It's really confusing to determine the correct answer because by reading the question because of the wording - it could be multiple answers.
thanks for having me in your class this semester; looking forward to taking other classes from you in the future.

5. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Every single lesson and discussion expanded my learning and solidify my ongoing passion for psychology.
The forums allowing us to state our opinions and the facts from the book.
The quizzes covered topics that we discussed in class
There are a great deal of information that I obtained. I often apply or find myself analyzing. This could be a very good thing, but also a bad one. The theories, I believe enable better understanding in the development of personality and individuals. I enjoyed our discussion questions and the effectiveness of the professor responding and getting grade back to us.
The weekly quizzes.
The book itself was very good. quite easy to read and further reinforced our discussion section.
I personally liked the videos that helped me understand the chapter that I just read.
the content
The content of the course. I also liked the videos
The most valuable aspect was just learning about all of the different aspects of personality. Personality differences have always interested me and I find it helpful to know the difference, especially in social settings.
The break down of the modules and the Youtube videos.
I thought the book chosen for the course was written really well and very easy to read. I also thought that the essay questions in the tests were very valuable because they allowed for more comprehensive answers.
I found the differing perspectives of the various psychologists and their theories to be very useful in understanding the evolution of the field as it has worked to understand and explain in detail the various aspects of human personality. Also, the evidence of how these aspects are correlated with specific life outcomes is helpful, and gives me a valid reason for encouraging friends and family or people in general who come to me for support to understand the importance for evaluating ourselves and working toward more beneficial perspectives. I really gained an appreciation for the complexity of humans and for the first time felt inspired to use some of the techniques and theories we studied by possibly being a therapist of some sort or writing a self-help inspirational book.
Taking the fun personality surveys and comparing them to real world data. Figuring out which ones were reliable compared to which ones have no significant meaning.
Everything.
For myself, the section that was most valuable to me was the section on Punishment. That section really opened up my eyes to how I punish my sons and the implications that the punishment I give out has on them and myself.
I really enjoyed the book. it was a good read.
I gained the most learning the different approaches of understanding one's personality. There isn't anything that I didn't find useful.
The written paper assignments
Psychology of Personality online class was great. There were many assignments, yet it was very easy to understand. The forum postings were great! I enjoyed reading my classmate's posts and also giving feedback. Although we could not physically see each other, we made a connection as a class via forum postings. The exams were also good and straightforward.
I enjoyed the forums that could relate to our lives, rather than the lessons in the book. I think he did a good job combining a lesson and a personal experience into the forums.
I really think the class discussions were the most valuable.
All aspects
The aspects of this course that were most valuable were the readings and assignments.
I loved everything about the course.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Besides, the quizzes and test being timed, I personally feel that every subject and discussion was valuable and important in strengthening our learning in the field of psychology.
Due dates on 3 different days. Its hard to remember 3 different days with a full schedule. For Example, one of my other online class opens at 12AM Sunday and everything for that week is due by the next Monday at 9AM. This worked well.
The assignments were not particularly helpful in understanding the material
Possibly the test set up. Also, I would prefer if it were done at a different time, such as over the weekend or administer it over a longer period with the same deadline and time to complete.
The bulletin board.
The lack of study guides for exams was bad. because the tests had essay questions as well, it was hard to know what may be an essay as well as what may be on the multiple choice.
The forum posting was a little not so valuable, I think that if there were some other thing to show what you just learned off the chapters instead of posting a forum will be good. Some kind of worksheet that will help understand the chapters more.
writing assignments
It was online and I think that it takes the social aspect away from the personality class
The least valuable? Hm, hard to say. Nothing really stuck out to me as being unimportant.
The quizzes.
I thought that the required responses to classmates in the forums did not really lend a lot to the learning experience. I also thought there were too many heavily weighted multiple choice questions in the exams. It really brought your grade down when you got only a few wrong.
This was my favorite class this semester and I found everything interesting and valuble.
Responding to a classmate seemed kind of pointless. All you can really say is that you agree and "thanks for your post", because if you say you disagree its not being friendly which reduces your overall grade for that forum.
N/A
It's hard to say that any one section or chapter or assignment was of lesser value than the others. All the sections built upon the previous and so all that we learned was useful and informative.
I did not like how we jumped from different chapters. I felt it was confusing.
The fact that there are no slides or power point lecturesâ?¦hard to make connections when just working from a text book and have no class meeting and no lectures or slides
None
I found it a little hard to keep up with all the assignments. I felt like I was not adequately notified of the upcoming assignments and homework.

The aspects of this course that were least valuable were the zero tolerance for late assignments and the difficult exams for the chapter readings.

11. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
I like the fact that Professor Nagurney was evident and engaged in our weekly discussions. His feedback was very valuable. I appreciate his honesty and corrections as it helped me be more prepared for the next level of learning.
I've had him for many courses and he has always been a great teacher. Always there to help and a very fair teacher. He's the best!
Great professor.
A professor who effective and efficient when needing assistance, grades, etc. He set the course up in an organized manner.
It was an interesting course. I feel that the final being cumulative was a bit much though.
Good teacher and very willing to help.
Great instructor. He gave me feedback on my post, and was very understanding because I signed up late for his course he was very nice about me catching up.
Needs to work on communicating better with students. On every writing assignment, I was confused as to if that was what he wanted. Like, he expects more then he explains it to be. It was irritating. He would grade things very skeptically when his instructions were to be brief.
He is a good teacher. No complaints. I would take a course from him again.
Good professor. He grades everything in a good amount of time and gives you feedback. Well organized, which I appreciate dearly! The topics are clear and interesting.
Prof. Nagurney is awesome.
He is a great professor. He is always willing to hear what students have to say and work with them when they have a problem. He is understanding and kind, and presents the material in ways that can easily be fun to learn.
Being an online class, I feel I did not get to know professor Nagurney at all. I do understand he developed the course and the materials, but we really did not have much in the way of slides or communication so, I liked the course, and Nagurney provided interesting material and assignments. I would say though, regarding the format for postings, I do not think we should loose points on a post if we do not demonstrate a perfect understanding of a topic. Especially if it is clear that we put effort into a thoughtful post. My understanding of the forum postings is that they represent 'participation'. Likewise, by raising a hand during class and expressing an idea about something, even if it was incorrect, the professor would try to explain more clearly for that person (and the class), but I would not think points would be removed from the persons grade for participating during class. Also, since there were only slides for one module accommodating the reading that module, it was very difficult to know of the material in the chapters, what would be most important to focus on for the exams. End of the week quizzes and forum questions did not really provide a clear understanding of the specific material out the entire chapter that would be on the exam. I read thoroughly every chapter, write the postings with thought, and get almost perfect scores on all of these, yet even though I studied as well, my exam scores were low in my opinion (I usually get high A's on exams). I feel this was a reflection of the fact that anything in the chapter was fair game on the test, even items that maybe I would have imagined to be kind of random considering what we had focused on otherwise. I guess what I'm saying is a lecture (slides) of some sort would have been helpful.
Nagurney is awesome in the classroom and online! He's very understanding when you are confused and is willing to break things down and spell things out for you, which is a great quality because sometimes when using an online interface things can get lost in translation or misinterpreted.
I enjoyed his courses, his teaching and him as a professor.
Professor Nagurney was very knowledgeable in all aspects of this course and has provided numerous and invaluable insights into the study of psychology of the personality.
the course was very organized and easy to understand. he seemed very approachable.
He is an awesome instructor and communicates well with me. Whenever I have questions, he responds within 24 hours or less which won't leave me stuck doing an assignment without understanding. I would definitely take an another online class with him. Too bad there isn't going to be any others in Spring 2015 =(.
hard to tell with online classes
Nagurney is a great professor. His class had me wearing my thinking cap. He always helped us via email and he also responded whenever I had questions about assignments. I visited his office a couple of times and he was very helpful as well. He explained in details how papers are supposed to be written and what he is looking for. He set high standards and was fair to all students. Late assignments are not tolerated, which is very good, because it keeps me working hard.
Very organized and dedicated to the teaching the course from the book. This course was interactive among my online classmates and gave me a better understanding of the people around me.
A fair grader and a great teacher.

Great class, I recommended this class to future students.

I resented taking this course from him.
great class and great teacher.. would recommend to other students
This was a fun course! I made my comments above already. Thanks professor!
For the exams it would be nice to know key concepts to focus on (Like a study guide). I found that I would read the chapters, go to take the exam, and the smaller minute points were questioned instead of overall pictures of the chapter. The multiple choice on the exams were quite difficult, and I prefer the essay format where you can freely explain why you pick the answers you did.
I am very grateful to have taken this class, as this class has provided me with numerous ways of understanding others and most importantly, myself. I feel like I need to explain why I marked off neutral when it came to the question about whether graded assignments were done fairly. I am in no way saying that I feel Professor Nagurney is unfair in his grading of assignments. My disagreement comes to one written assignment that I submitted and received a low grade. I felt that it was written with attention and detail and I had numerous Psychology majors read and proofread for me. They all agreed that it was written well and that no major corrections or alterations was needed. In the end, my grade that I received was not near the grade that I thought I would get.
AWESOME semester with YOU!
This course facilitated my learning in an area that I previously regarded as "boring" but found its quite interesting! Thanks Professor Nags! :]
Have a happy holidays Alex!!

5. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
The knowledge gained in this class is very valuable to everyday life.
The entire course was valuable
The five level of analysis
The things that were most valuable were the things that could be applied to current life and situations.
Volunteering in the community and writing a paper about our experience
I really appreciated the format of the course, where everything was sectioned off well, and I love using forums for discussion because it is much more organized than the questions tab.
The writing- practice is always important.
I like that Cheryl Ramos material was used to teach us. I like that everything was clear.
Actual community volunteering assignment. Great hands on experience and positive difference in others life.
Discussions
I liked the essay-based exams, because they gave us the opportunity to demonstrate our knowledge about the topics, rather than having to memorize facts for multiple choice. I also also thought the papers helped to expand understanding of the various topics being discussed because they related our readings to our personal experiences.
The material was really beneficial. I learned a lot about the field of community psychology and what the profession entails.
Learning about the community we live. Community service. Gaining a better understanding of community psychology.
This course is one of my favorite courses this semester. It has helped open up my mind about different communities, the problems they go through and also finding ways to solve these problems. I have also learned alot about my very own community. The discussions online were also helpful. The experiences students share about their communities are very inspirational. It has helped me understand that everyone comes from a different background and have different beliefs and values that are important in building a community.
I found that applying and learning about the ecological views helped me to be aware of the different factors that contribute and affect the community from the different levels. I also learned how Community Psychologist effectively help the communities through studies and effective programs.
6. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
...
NA
Research methods were least valuable for me, but for someone going into the field it may be different.
We barely used the textbook, most of the contents for assignments and tests were available through the material provided in the modules. Should be specified in the syllabus if the tests are based on material from the text book or if it is for supplementary reading. Why make students waste so much money on a textbook that we barely even used?
None
In all honesty, some readings seemed tacked on at the last minute, confusing me as to what is the overall theme of the module. I realize that this could be because so many requirements were met with this course and in order to do that there needed to be a lot more information given to us.
The discussion board posts and replies. When we are forced to respond to other people, we have to fake interest. It's also a little difficult to respond to people who may have given incorrect information, or have written in hard-to-read ways (using slang, incorrect grammar, etc.). Also, the syllabus was not followed, and we were given no prior notice of exams until the week they opened (since the syllabus was not followed). There also weren't any updates or notifications sent to the class regarding the changes in dates from the syllabus (to let us know that dates will be changed or that they will be inaccurate).
I really didn't like the fact that there was so much assignments and that we had a lot to handle with this online class. This class has been one of the most demanding of all my online classes.
Some course materials were outdated.
None
I felt that the extensive reading assignments actually hampered my ability to learn the material effectively and made the course feel daunting to me. There was so much assigned readings that most of the time I was just struggling to keep up, so I couldn't really enjoy the class very much.
The papers were a great way to express the way we were learning, but the way they were graded and the negative feedback was very unhelpful and discouraging.
The amount of material and case studies.
None. At first, I had a hard time with the intense work. Yet, as I got a hang of it, I enjoyed it.
I didn't find anything least valuable.

10. My overall evaluation of this instructor is....
Great teacher; online and in class.
Very good instructor. Gives valuable and very prompt feedback. He made me become a better writer by being very particular about the way he critiqued my writing style. I liked the fact that he paid attention to detail.
Hard writting evaluation. Tests are super tough
I would have liked clearer instructions on assignments and for the exam questions to be more about concepts and terminology than on specific readings. Grading was tough.
Great professor, but should be more responsive to emails.
Great!
I really enjoyed this teacher even though it was an online class. He was very prompt in responding to e-mails which is great and really important especially for on-line classes. He also took personal thoughts and concerns into consideration and really helped with issues that arose in a friendly manner.
I have never met him in person, but he seems like he is kind of in a rush/unwilling to fully answer my questions. He came off as kind of rude in my only few e-mails to him. His TA is great though.
He is a better teacher in person versus online. He is more easy to interact with in person. He was a good teacher but he should most stick to in class teaching.
Good instructor, seems to care for students.
"A" feedback was given in a timely manner Emails about changes and updates in the course we're given ahead of time Gave worksheets to assist in writing essays
He is a great professor. He is always eager for people to contact him for help, and is very understanding and kind to all of his students. He explains things very clearly and makes learning fun.
He is a great teacher and HE knows how to evaluate his students. Needs to pick better TA's.
good, he is firm & strict with deadlines which kept me accountable
Nagurney is a great Professor. He is always willing to help his students and also give us good feedback on our papers and assignments. However, there were times when he would give an exam and a paper due on the same day, which can be very hard to handle. It would be great if no other assignments (papers) are given on the same day of the exam, because there is a great need on focusing on the exams. Overall, he is a good Professor. He sets high standards and expects his students to work hard.
He challenges you to learn. He constantly gives you assignments that test your knowledge. It would have been helpful to learn about the volunteering ahead of time due to the processes that are required to volunteer in many organizations in the community. He has given us different types of assessments which is encouraging since I am not a big fan of essay assessments. Overall, he designed the course in a way that engaged us into learning and understanding all about Community Psychology.

21. Other comments:
I loved the fact that there was so much interaction between the students in this class and that the instructor participated in the forums. I also appreciated that I could keep an eye on the status of my grade throughout the semester and that the instructor updated our grades so promptly. He is a very conscientious instructor who worked very hard to provide an excellent learning experience. I learned more in this class than any other class I've taken in quite awhile.
Paper return not on time. Tests are hard. Omg i cry
N/A.
The papers that were sent in, some were not returned for weeks on end, though I know that it was not Nagurney grading these papers because he had an English Prof. do that. The discussions may not have helped me to learn the material better but it did help me to come up with more examples of community issues instead of just using the first one that jumps into mind. Another note is that the timeline of the week is laid out in a stress inducing way, where we are given many things to read but expected to post a reply on the tuesday when the module opens on the monday or late night sunday. It is difficult to give good quality answers when one feels rushed to read through all this information then give examples or opinions. possibly changing the timeline so that we have later in the week to post that would probably help a lot. Overall I really enjoyed this class and look forward to taking more courses from this Professor.
Unfortunately, this was one of my least favorite classes ever. I feel too much emphasis has been put on a very few set of materials (say, one article from our module) and not so much on the majority of what we had to read (textbook chapters, articles, websites, pdfs).
The TA was not kind on feedback comments on written assignment as I felt a belittled on some of his comments. More concerned with style of writing versus the importance of written content. Seems more of an English teacher versus being in the field of Psychology. Feedback comments had lots of misspelled words and were hard to comprehend at times.
A course calendar would have been very useful so students can prepare for upcoming assignments and due dates. A study guide would also be useful. Exams (3) have roughly 3 questions on them but students were given over 25 possible questions.
posts should be due later in the week

6. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
The writing assignments were the most helpful in understanding chapter material and applying it to real world situations.
Learning more how socialization works and how it can not work in one way, but in other ways. Why people think and feel and interact the way that they do. There is more to Psychology than the study of how the mind works. This type of field or area of study can be used to help deal with so many issues going on around us, and the many many many different possibilities that are out there. Also, that this field can be as practical and useful as any other subject like business.
The textbook material the professor assigned was very insightful and explained things in a manner that I could understand the varies topics and subjects.
In all honesty, I feel like everything that was taught throughout the course were both interesting and informative. This is especially because it was so easy to relate it to my personal life.
The chapters that applicable to everyday situations seemed like the most valuable to me because it was easy to look at everyday behaviors and why they occur. The chapters concerning friendships, relationships, and how we represent ourselves were especially applicable. The discussion questions helped facilitate understanding of the chapters.
The most valuable aspects of this course was the responsibility placed on each student at the beginning of the term to be accountable for their own work. This to me sparks the need to be self directed learners in a course that is entirely online.
The fact that we are social beings and learning about our behaviors in social settings is key to understanding the interactions around us.
7. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Having to write responses to forum posts would at times seem tedious and frustrating to do.
None whatsoever, as much as I would like to find something to disagree with, not much comes to mind except for the concept concerning love and relationships, it sounds cold and harsh, but if you are autistic like me you may not have a full grasp of the subject at hand no matter how much you may try. Nevertheless, it is an area worth trying to look at, no matter what.
The discussion question portion was very helpful. Having to respond to other student's post was difficult because sometimes it felt like my cohort was not providing quality responses to the forum questions.
Most of the discussion questions were valuable to my understanding of the material. Some of the questions didn't seem relevant to my life so they were somewhat hard to answer.
For the most part, the entire course seemed to be valuable in some way.
The least valuable aspects of this course were short papers that required a news article and make five links to the chapter to complete. Although this is fair assignment, I feel that if we were to choose our own topic in relation to the chapter we would be given a chance to go above and beyond the call of duty. Being able to pick our own topic forces us to actually THINK about the subject material. Also, in order for us to do well on a paper that is of our choosing we would actually need to have a firm grasp on the material covered through out any given chapter.

The aspects on how to analyze a community on a psychological level. learning about different types of communities and how they function
I thought the ecological levels of analysis, core values, empowerment, sense of community, and stress. I felt that these were the most valuable information from this class, especially because we always had to refer back to them.
Learning about the Ecological levels of Analysis.
Learning information that is useful in my own life. It opened my eyes to more going on around me, and made me more aware of problems that existed in the community.
Some of the paper assignment topics I thought were fun and got you to look more in depth to your own self. The one I thought was most valuable was the paper on our sense of community.
Many of the topics that we learned in class we're valuable. We can relate these topics that we learned to real life situations.
7. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
N/A
I thought the differences between quantitative data and qualitative data because we didn't even use it for anything in class, we just learned the difference between the two.
I did not like the set up of the exam formats. I would much rather of had multiple choice and true and false questions
Some of the videos were a little too time consuming, and didn't provide enough information to justify the time spent...but it did focus on Hawaii with different points of view.
I didn't really like the papers or assignments where we had to design a program to help with certain issues because when the teacher graded it all they pointed out was how unrealistic our program was.

My only comment is the conceptual questions on the exams could have been worked a little clearer. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the course.
my least favorite part of this class was the random quizzes. also the group work wasnt fun, even though me and my group got along. I just preferred to work alone.
I don't like the way this class is set-up. I am not a big fan of the teaching style and I do not agree with the group work
Very fun and creative psych 100 course. Professor made learning really fun. I enjoyed doing all our side quest assignments.
Thank you Professor Nagurney.

Alex, You rock!! See you next semester. I'll be in your psychology of personality class via web. I'll be visiting you from time to time at your office. Anyhow, have a great summer. Cheri
I feel like I really understand the jist of what Psychology Statistics is. Unlike some of the people in the class, I feel like I was able to grasp and understand how to do the work more easily. Thank you, Alex! :)

Great class and great teacher!!!
I enjoyed this class overall but I must admit it's been a bit challenging but I know I've gained some knowledge about the course and its contents.
Professor Nagurney is an incredible instructor and communicated the class very well to stimulate my learning. He gave very clear instructions and advise to help us during the semester. He prepared us to write our Manuscripts and ample time to do our group studies. I hope to take more classes with Professor Nagurney whenever possible.

13. What did you like about this course, such as activities, projects, assignments, etc.?
Since Dr. Nagurney let us work group project ahead using class time, we could proceed the project ostly on time.
group project, homework assignments, the time it was conducted
I am really interested in the research process and am very enthusiastic about our research projects.
Great teacher. Very helpful. Loves what he does and is passionate. Always available to answer questions. Level of work is appropriate and useful. Every assignment has a purpose. No "busy work." I learned a ton in this class.
Everything
The things that I enjoyed the most about this course would be the dedication that Dr. Nagurney has for his students. He is always willing to meet before class or help any student when they need his help. He is very approachable and is a wonderful professor. I thought that the assignments really helped to reinforce the material that was being taught in class in a practical matter.
This course was hands on and well designed!
power points were helpful. Appreciated the study guides; very helpful for exams.
Review before tests & quizzes very helpful.
14. Any suggestions to improve this course?
Though this course was not writing intensive, it would be helpful if we had at least one paper before wwe worked on group project. He explained what information should be in manuscript but we (at least I felt) need to practice how to write a psychological paper.
less points for multiple choice questions and more points for small essay questions. should use simpler vocabularies on questions that are hard to answer.
I believe that it is a hard subject to make interesting, but I would like a little more interaction in class because the subject is boring at times.
His slides were much more effective than the reading. It would be great to have specific pages to read in chapters that have a lot of superfluous information.
Offer it earlier in the day!

more writing assignments!
spend more time to explain contents of a manuscript and how to go about writing each section.
Homework and Labs shouldn't be lumped together for a grade and only 15%. Labs should be separate from Homework.
15. Other comments:
Dr. Nagurney was approachable and helpful. When I asked question about materials I had hard time to understand, he answered clearly with details.
Alexander Nagurney is a great teacher and if he offers any other classes I would gladly take them.
Nagurney is the best!
Wonderful teacher, thank you for helping to inspire me to continue to pursue a degree in psychology.
thought the in-class lab exercises should be a grade on its own rather than with the homework.
