13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He understands the subject well.
Very knowledgeable in the subject but MOST IMPORTANTLY able to relate to/understand/explain areas of confusion to students not familiar with C. Everything online was very well organized and easily accessible, which I appreciated.
He's approachable, helpful, and enthusiastic about the material.
he would walk around class to see how everyone is doing and to see if anyone had questions.
He knows his subject very well. He can look at my code and find any flaws and suggest fixes almost immediately.
Very knowledgable.
He is patient and always willing to help while encouraging us think for ourselves.
His knowledge of the subject. Good attitude.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
None.
It would have been nice to get more feedback sooner on labs/homework in order to improve. Also, it would have been helpful if provided a "syntax" cheat sheet... it took me a while to realize that this was one of my main problems and I ended up making one for myself.
When introducing a new operator or function show an example program that uses it first.
maybe we could work on the a pre lab together, just so students get an idea of how to do the lab and then have students do an independent lab
None.
Maybe work on delivery of material. I know this is nit picky, but sometimes the way he explains things is a bit confusing. Try to explain things more clearly and succinctly without jumping back and forth between ideas. Like I said, it's not always, but sometimes.
If there is any way possible, can he make programming easier?
Needs office hours. More class time during the week to make sure all kids understand material and what to do. Gets lost in one subject not related to programming with other students disregarding students actually trying to do the work but struggling. Chew some gum for fresh breathe. Make class more interesting and fun, not boring. Help the students with little to no experience in programming instead of the one's with more experience.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Helped students who needed help in class.
He answered questions via email in a timely manner and was always available/willing to help during lab time. He took the time to explain things in a more clarifying way or to present the problem from a different point of view.
I think he knows everyone in the class by name and is very approachable.
he would walk around and answer questions.
I was having trouble with my group not contributing to the home works. Seth met with me and encouraged me to find a way to get everyone involved. Although a lot of the load fell on me, his suggestions and advice helped to get them more involved. Working in groups can be the luck of the draw. Sometimes you get good team members and other times you have to work at it. His advice challenged me to be more upfront and take on a leadership role that I usually shy away from.
He took the time to answer any questions we had. He also was ever-present in assisting us with overcoming any obstacles we encountered during lab as well as outside of class. Very helpful.
There are always questions being asked throughout the 3 hour class time and he tries to answer all of them.
Only in class he would walk around and help, but that's only one day a week, not enough.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes, he understands the subject well.
Yes, he cares about his students and is always available to help. He explains things well and is very organized.
Yes I would recommend him. He offers a very good introduction into the programming world.
yes because he is a good teacher
Yes. The class will teach you a lot and you'll be a better engineer for taking it. Seth is a good teacher.
Yes. He is knowledgable and helpful, as well as very approachable.
Yes. He's awesome.
yes, because he's the only teacher which teaches EE160 at KCC.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Nothing.
The class can be a bit demanding and students who can't keep up may complain that it's too hard and/or not give Prof. Kamemoto credit for his teaching ability. Ultimately it's up to the student to rise to the challenge and the class is not too hard and should not be made any easier.
nothing more
He's great.
Since it's only once a week. He should make sure everyone understands the material and how to do the labs.
18. Other comments:
None.
Although challenging, I really enjoyed this course. However, being totally new to the subject area, I felt that more time was needed to actually *know* what we were doing. Perhaps a "crash course" in what C is and how it works exactly. I got it eventually but struggled for a while at the beginning.
nope
Awesome class.
OFFICE HOURS!!!!!!! and more class times.

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
Knows the subject well and can show how things can go wrong if advice is not taken
enthusiastic about subject and knows it really well. gets excited at seeing student figure out different ways to go about a problem. good at explaining a topic that isn't necessarily easy for everyone
Able to explain things in different ways by comparing to situations students can relate better
He is young so he relates really well to the students and knows how hard this course is so he does his best to make it interesting.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
i think having quizes every day would be good for helping students keep up
None, he is a very good teacher :)
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Knew what types of problems students had and went over them with the whole class so we wouldn't have these problems again
After we had a homework assignment and during labs he would walk around and give feedback to the groups.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
Yes. He knows the subject and can explain in a clear and concise way
yes, learned a lot from him
Yes. He is easy to follow and helps as much as possible for each individual to understand all topics.
Yes, I definitely would. He is a great teacher who makes the course do able. You need to put in the time but it is worth it because all the other EE160 classes are wayy harder and wayy more boring.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
Thank you so much for teaching me this course and setting me up with an awesome group!

13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
He is very open to helping his students
Knows the subject very well
N.a
He is knows the material well and can convey it effectively. He is excited about the class and brings that enthusiasm.
He is helpful
His knowledge was great. Watching him program was amazing and it really motivated you to learn the subject because of his excellence in programing.
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
For his lectures, Seth should have a powerpoint for students to look back to after the lecture, because it seems like if you miss anything he says, you won't be able to look back on it later. Also, by not having a powerpoint premade, it feels like he makes up our lessons on the spot and decides to add in random information.
N.a
More control of the classroom during lecture. preventing people from having there own personal conversations in class or sleeping through lecture. He established clear expectations on the syllabubs but did not stick to what he said. Returning assignments on time out of the 8 labs completed only the first 3 were graded by the last week of the semester. Group assignments were graded promptly however along with test. Grading group work fairly with prompt feed back to the groups. A more stringent policy with plagerism in class or a better way to determine if the work is from the person turning it in. To many people were asking for someone else's code or getting it from people who had previously completed the class and making minor changes to it and calling it their own. Making sure student knew where they stood with their grades through out the semester would be another improvement which is related to getting assignments back on time. Clearly stating how group evals are going to affect the individuals grade on the group work. Not rewarding people with passing grades that are not contributing to group work or unable to complete course requirements. maintaining clear expectations and sticking to them. Establishing him self as an authority figure in the class. Spreading his time evenly among the groups during lab time to become aware of where each group is with the course material. Maybe to much concern for failing or struggling students and not enough for those that were excelling and needing to be challenged.
I would suggest that he follow his syllabus. He states that he will penalize students that turn in late labs, but doesn't; and he states that he doesn't allow cheating or copying of programs, yet at least 65% of the students turned in labs a couple of weeks late, and would get the same grade I have, though I turned mine in prior to the deadline. Additionally, many students continued to copy programs and not learn the material for themselves, which offended those of us that actually put the time in to learn.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
Gave advance notice for tests with study guide
N.a
He would meet with them and work with students who couldn't do the syntax side of coding.
He was very friendly and always willing to help. Even if it was extracurricular questions beyond the scope of the class, he was right there with you trying to help to the best of his abilities.
16. Would you recommend this instructor to students? Why or why not?
I would recommend students to Seth, because I know that it he is a new teacher and will soon get his work together.
Yes. Good teacher for an indroductory class.
N.a
Yes hes a new teacher that needs some minor refinment with teaching skills, but the class was fun overall and is willing to work with people who aren't able to master the syntax.
Yes
I would, yes. He's a great teacher overall, and I believe he will continue to get better at instructing. Additionally, it would be great to see him teach EE260 as well, as I would definitively take him again.
17. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
He's a nice teacher, but he still needs to get his teaching style together and organized.
N.a
He's a kind person and has a great sense of humor to freshen up his lectures. Very nice way of teaching material that can otherwise be kind of bland.
18. Other comments:
N.a
The class was good group projects were became a source of drama as the class be came polarized in knowledge. preventing that in some way or letting students know they need to drop the class by the drop date would be helpful in preventing such polarization by the end of the semester.
