13. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I liked the clinical aspect because we were able to apply our knowledge and feel that even as students we made a difference.
I enjoyed having professor Jensen as a clinical instructor. She is a great educator and answers all of our questions as well as keeps us calm and confident. She is always on the look out for opportunities for us during clinical and provides excellent care to the patients. She also gives us space to grow on our own by following nurses on the floor.
Ms. Jensen was extremely knowledgeable and always available to offer support and guidance. She often printed resources for the group to support our learning. She fostered an environment that allowed me to build confidence. I felt that I had the most growth this semester.
14. Which aspects of the course did you like least?
I did not like the narratives after a while because they became redundant. They were a good way to reflect but I felt that the advice we got from the staff and instructors were sufficient enough.
I did not enjoy working with the saturday instructor Tania Lynch. This was her first time working with UH students at this school and she did a good job adapting to the system and learning how the floor worked. However, overall working with her made me feel extremely anxious of making mistakes. Her tone of voice when talking to her in clinical was not friendly and she did not make clinical an enjoyable one. I want her to be more accepting of mistakes and I would like for her to allow more growth of the students in clinical. She is a very knowledgeable instructor but does not provide teaching when needed, instead she made us find out the information on our own, blindly.
I liked everything
15. Other comments:
It would be nice to provide other opportunities such as an OR experience and/or wound nurse experience.

10. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?
Objectives were incorporated into the powerpoints which made it organized. Practice questions and youtube videos were very helpful also.
Sharon is amazing at assessment, wrote her own book, and is valuable as a teacher. I love how she shows us gory youtube videos, and brings multimedia into the mix for us to learn better. She doesn't do death by powerpoint, probably the first teacher I ever met who doesn't just read off the slides. She definitely gets to the aspects that she wants us to know and are important, and she really brings the point home with her stories.
The activities and videos that Sharon tries to incorporate into the lecture.
The information taught in lectures and the exam were very valuable and helpful in helping us prepare for the NCLEX exam and understanding nursing concepts.
The powerpoints and readings were very helpful in learning and understanding the concepts in this class.
Lectures were specific and she didn't read off the slides. Gave a lot of examples
Sharon's videos.
The simulations!
The lectures matched up with the objectives that needed to be covered.
The content we learned in the classroom related to the skills we practiced on the floor.
You could relate course content to clinical practice.
The body functions we learned this semester was more interesting, tested our critical thinking and a higher level of nursing.
I found most valuable the objectives were listed in an orderly fashion on the power points. Very helpful when studying the ppt and reading the book to add any additional information.
I like that the lecture notes were concise and matched the textbook most of the time. I like that we did not have a cumulative final because the information is so dense.
Powerpoints
videos, case studies, objectives matching to powerpoint slides, practice questions
Aligning objectives with contents on PowerPoint slides. Practice questions were also valuable as well the case studies.
I found that the most valuable and helpful part of the course was the way that the powerpoint was organized with the objectives. I also thought that the video are a great tool to use.
The use of videos for visual learners like myself. Also, practice nclex questions regarding the subject being taught
She was very knowledgeable in the subject and she presented the topics very well. She made class interesting and fun by adding visual aids and organizing the information in the way that is understandable.
A three hour lecture is a lot to sit through, even if a break is permitted. I do not feel that the time spent in class, for me personally, was beneficial. I was able to be more productive "chunking" and reviewing the material on my own and in small groups outside of class.
the lectures were very informative.
11. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?
No guest speakers about specific topics
I would say the least valuable and helpful about the course is the confusion that goes along with some exam/practice questions. I would like it if test questions were standardized. Or if she were to write her own questions, to have another professor or two look over it. Often the tests are awarded extra points at the end for certain questions-- I feel this skews the grades by making questions 50/50. Yes, often most of the answers are correct, but which is the most correct? Really hone in on what comes as a priority and why.
Nothing.
Having lectures right after exams
N/a
The powerpoint teachings, gotta figure out a way to teach around that
Some of the quiz questions on the lecture were wrong. Also, I wish that the KAPLAN exam was scheduled during an earlier time. To have lecture then wait over 4 hours made me exhausted while taking the Kaplan exam.
The lectures were not as interactive with the students. We did not use our iclickers and I thought they were helpful when used in previous semesters.
When their is part that gets monotonous and boring.
Lecture is LONG! Bring a coffee and do your best to pay attention.
Lectures
Because it's a 3 hour class, it gets really difficult to concentrate towards the later half of the class, considering the amount of content we go over.
I found less helpful was that it felt like the instructor was just reading off the slide and not really explaining how things connect together.
Although it was boring at time, all the content was necessary to cover.
Length of class is too long. Average attention span is not supported by this time block.
lectures were too long

16. Other comments:
Professor Jensen really cares about the students and their success in the class.
Sharon is a great professor, she truly wants everyone to succeed and is easily approachable when you have a question.
Professor Jensen is very caring and helpful professor. She is very knowledgeable and has years of experience to share with students in class. She is a valuable asset to the university.
Professor Jensen is a kind lady. I could tell she cared about her students and wanted them to pass. Powerpoints were posted before the lecture so it gave the students time to read about the material.
Mahalo for a great semester!
Find a way to be more interactive maybe? Make it interesting.
More use of videos and add a list of videos that are helpful with the powerpoint. I feel there wasn't enough time to go over the powerpoint thoroughly and maybe a voiceover should be done of the lecture so then in class the difficult and main concepts can be gone over. I especially thought the different mechanical ventilation was not taught thoroughly.
I love that Sharon is very open to improvements and suggestions. Very good coordinator.

9. What did you like best about the course?
I feel like Sharon really cared and was a really patient instructor.
It's the most relevant information. It helps sharpen our critical thinking
providing a time for exam review because it helps me what I did wrong on my exam and taking out questions that were not fair.
Good incorportation of things and activities during lecture. the exam reviews were really good too.
Variety of educational tools.
youtube video, case study, practice questions.
The case studies, they helped put what you learned into a real life situation.
She had a midterm evaluation and implemented suggestions. She definitely shows a commitment to the students and wants them to succeed.
I liked her teaching/lecture style with powerpoints, case studies, and especially her videos. She is very knowledgable in this course content.
Sharon Jensen was an excellent lecturer and made the material easy to understand. She communicated clearly and effectively. Having the PowerPoints, objectives, and exams aligned so that they focus on the same material was very helpful.
Sharon is a fantastic instructor. She takes critiquing well and is very informed on all the information in this class. She will go over questions if we do not understand but helps us to get the information. I liked how her slides included the objectives and the information that will cover those objectives. It was very thorough and good!
I appreciated the effort to make the course content comprehensible and applicable to the scenarios encountered in clinicals. I felt that lectures and clinical experiences complimented and reinforced each other well this term.
Content was condensed
The way that they always seek to get our feedback and use it to make improvements to the course.
Thank you for really taking into consideration our feedback and taking the time to make sure the correct info is in the ppts! Including Youtube videos was also a great teaching tool.
She communicated the teaching contents really well; not able to say that about other professors who just read from the powerpoint without actual teaching.
Keeps our attention and uses videos
That Sharon listens to us and actually takes our feedback into consideration.
she was adaptable to our needs. the course content fit the required time
Sharon really tried to accommodate our needs in every way she could.
sharon really listened to our concerns and was always available for the students for questions/concerns. it was evident that she worked hard to address our concerns throughout the semester.
I liked the overall content of this course. I enjoy patho and understanding nursing implementations and common medications because I know that it will probably be relevant to when I begin my career.
I liked the way that the course was taught, and that it included power points, case studies, discussion, and youtube videos. Sharon Jensen really listened to our feedback and made hanged in the course. It was nice to see someone listen to us and have changes made accordingly.
I liked that the course expanded on many of the concepts that we were familiar with, but also covered a lot of new topics and content as well. I also liked that the powerpoints were consistent with the objectives.
Sharon was an excellent course coordinator. She revised materials so they were relevant and accurate. She delivered amazing lectures that kept the class engaged. My only suggestion would be to screen guest lecturers. Some of the guest lecturers did not deliver the material in a clear and concise manner.
Sharon really cares about student success and did everything she could to improve our learning experience, and ensure understanding of material.
Lecture was clear and very helpful. Also, the powerpoint was easy to follow along to and included a lot of information.
lectures had a mix of powerpoints, videos, images, and practice questions
The course was well-organized, the topics were presented well, and I did not feel overwhelmed with any of the assignments or content.
Sharon was willing to listen to our ideas.
The youtube videos were a great addition to the slides. Being so extensive, the slides can be daunting and overwhelming, but watching a few videos here and there really did make things simpler & more interesting.
I used to not like how we didn't get a blueprint for exams, but I now appreciate the use of objectives because it allows me to learn more than just a specific part of a disorder. I also liked how she used YouTube videos to show examples of each section. Her teaching is very well done because she engages with the class and tells us her experiences that pertain to the lesson. The use of case studies help me learn about the diagnoses in detail.
PPT presentations, practice questions
The format of the lecture and the videos on youtube that sharon would show us.
No TBL, patience, clear explainations, many videos,
Incorporated different ways to learn material, videos, case studies, etc
No TBLs. The instructor was very informative and understood the material well to lecture it.
I enjoyed the youtube videos that went a long with the ppt and the practice questions as well. It made lecture entertaining and interactive.
10. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?
I think this class should focus on drugs, interventions and practical applications and decrease some of the patho. Its very overwhelming to have 4 hour lectures that are very patho heavy and then when we are tested they are mostly based on nursing applications.
By the second half of the semester the teaching style got better. Since there is so much information it really helps to pare down the power point presentations to less than 100 slides with the teaching objectives laid out. This is very helpful for studying
Sharon Jensen does a great job of teaching the content but the other professors just basically read the power points as it is or read us the book, which we can do at home. If they can teach us the most important facts along with nclex based questions and answers, and also visuals with the power points, that would help a lot.
maybe tell more stories about the instructor's clinical experiences because these always help the students to picture a situation of a pt with that disease state. it makes more sense to us and it sticks in our head better
More videos.
I liked that Sharon started correlating the objectives with the power point slides. That was my only problem with the course previously, but she fixed that later on.
Keep the lectures consistent with the objectives and powerpoints.
Sharon is great. Other professors however should review their material more before they lecture. It is very hard to pay attention when another professor is reading directly from her notes and speaks quietly (Taryn). I feel I would have benefited more from staying home and reading from my book rather than attending her lecture. They should be more interactive with their lectures (Nua and the other guest lecturer), and make sure that they all know exactly what they are lecturing on. Whenever someone asked a question and the guest professor would get stumped, Sharon would chime in and explain things clearly. I wish Sharon would have taught all of the lectures instead.
She can improve the teaching of this course through possibly creating a outline of the exam (how many questions each objective entails). I think that this will help future students greatly!
Sharon has made an extraordinary effort to make this course effective, clear, and fair. I cannot understate the appreciation I have for her work on aligning all elements of the course in order to ensure that we are covering all necessary material thoroughly, that we understand the major concepts, that exams reflect the lectures, that remediation is provided, that our critical thinking skills are being adequately developed, and that we are developing the skills and knowledge necessary to fulfill the objectives of the course and prepare us for NCLEX and process.
Last lecture was extremely borring. Group work and case study doesn't seem very engaging. People just copy and paste and read, Having the Kaplan Test before exam 4 really drained my motivation to study. Having it after exam 4 would have been nicer. Also I spring break was ruined due to the exam being right after spring break.
I like how she incorporated the objectives into the powerpoints.
N/A
Room not so cold and long
Be more strict. Sometimes the students are unruly at the beginning of class.
be more open to students need although she was. keep continuing
Sharon is really approachable.
organization could be better. sticking to the learning objectives helped out a lot; thank you. videos help, but maybe less in class but have the links available for us to watch on our own time may be more beneficial. want more lecture and information that will help us in our nursing career
I feel that writing ideal tests that reflect important and relevant diagnosis with nursing implementation and clinical manifestations would be helpful in studying. I can confirm that there were a wide variety of questions and critical thinking but there were such errors as typos and mathematical errors that should be perfected. Instead of case studies, I feel that iclicker questions directed towards critical knowledge would be much more beneficial than case studies. Case studies sort of waste time in a sense because I think the content, understanding, and memorization is much more important. I also noticed that sometimes important points that were made during class were not necessarily tested on in the exams, and that questions pertained to less important ideas.
Improve the exams, and the time it takes to get feedback from the exam. Also some of the teachers are a lot worse at teaching. Sharon was great, however I felt the guest lecturers (in particular the day with Nua and her accomplice, and Taryn's) teaching methods were boring. They just basically read their notes to us, it was like a bedtime story. I also really did not like the lecture with Rosalie Garcia as it was all over the place and very hard for me to comprehend. She really confused me and the way she drew on the board and was distracting and not helpful. I would have rather spent that time with the guest lecturers reading the book or going over the power points by myself.
I think having the powerpoint questions as iClicker questions would help keep the students more engaged, and it would discourage other students from yelling out the answers, while another student may still be reading through it. I also think there should be more emphasis on the nursing care, etc. rather than the pathophysiology since we are expected to know it prior to coming in to the course. I believe that it should be touched upon, however, it does not need to take up a big portion of lecture time, especially since it's not something that we're specifically being tested on.
There were certain values in the powerpoints that did not match up with the book. It was difficult to determine which was the appropriate values for labs or recovery times. I really appreciated the practice questions, but I would like more time to go through the answers to the questions and thought processes of obtaining the answer. I would also have liked getting the revised powerpoints prior to class so that we could follow along.
Direct important points to the subject matter.
The slides are quite long, however I don't see how this could be changed. I feel that going over patho for certain things may be unnecessary and stressing on the nursing management should be more evident during lecture. Maybe asking the class if they need a review on certain illnesses & see if going over the patho is necessary, if not emphasize and explain more on why certain interventions are needed.
No major improvements. The use of guest speakers were okay. I felt like out of all the professors, Sharon had me learn more about the topic in a more proficient way.

She did well!
I liked how Sharon was willing to change things for the course based on how we felt it was going. I think that she did her best to accommodate our wishes. However, I think the fact that the tests need to be curved and questions need to be dropped each time is a little alarming. I also think that the guest lecturers were not very effective. I think that I could have read the ppt at home and the book to get the same amount of information.

16. My overall evaluation of this course is...
This was a good course but I feel overwhelmed by the amount of information learned and that I feel like we were left to understand the majority of it on our own.
Seemed like there was some kinks to work out, sometimes it was an overwhelming amount of information, but good overall.
The vast amount of knowledge I obtained and carry out through clinicals and future jobs.
great experience
I think the course was ok. I understand that this was Sharon's first semester teaching and I think she did her best.
This course was challenging but Sharon made it bearable and was very open to suggestions to ensure success. She is very caring about nursing and the students.
I learned a lot in this course, so I really think it was a good course. Sharon is awesome!!
This course was good. At first it felt very unorganized however she quickly fixed that problem through including the objectives in the slides and answering them with information.
I came into this semester with great trepidation, and leave feeling infinitely more confident and competent. Sharon did an amazing job of helping us process a huge volume of complex information, as well as develop critical thinking skills to aid us in practice and exam taking. I feel that I have grown and learned enormously this semester, and I think she is entirely responsible for that.
It was survivable
Great course. Lots of material, but Sharon did a really great job trying to make sure we learned what is important.
Sharon is knowledgeable and she really cares about what she does. She cares about us as students as well.
Sharons lectures were understandable and had the appropriate content. the guest lectures were hard to understand. More knowledge on the content, and explanations need to be more simplified by the guest lecturers.
I enjoyed learning, and the content.
That is was an okay course. Certain topics got taught very well, while others were not. I thought that Cardio was not taught well and I prefer Sharon Jensen's lectures over any of the guest lecturers that we had. We learned a lot of material this course and grew as a nursing student.
I think Sharon did an excellent job as the course coordinator this year. She was very clear with her expectations from the beginning. She also maintained open communication with us regarding the exam scores, updated content on Laulima, etc.
Sharon is wonderful! I learned a lot this semester.
Sharon did a great job at coordinating this class and she showed concern for her students and did a great job at making sure everything was organized. I really appreciated Sharon's lectures because she explained the concepts well and was able to explain why certain diseases exhibit certain symptoms, which was very helpful! By far, best lecture instructor :)
Sharon did a good job overall. She worked very hard and diligently at the course. I felt that she was very dedicated. I think that the content is hard and for her first semester as course coordinator she did good. I felt that some of the important content could have been emphasized more w/o necessarily giving us the answers if that is what she was worried about but, I felt that she was a fair at grading our work and fair to us as a course coordinator.
This was a good course with Sharon as our main lector. She always tried to make things more understandable to us and always thought about our psychological needs for breaks. It really means something to me when she thanks us for coming and participating to class, I can see that she really wants us there and appreciates our desire to learn.
The course was very well put for Sharon being the course coordinator. She tried her best in order to fulfill our needs.
It is difficult, but very rewarding to learn such a complicated variety of concepts.
I learned a lot in this course. It was my favorite class thus far.
Fantastic
I learned a lot.But sometimes feel like I could have learned just as much by reading the ppt at home and not attending class.
Great! I learned a lot.
I enjoyed this course and I felt that I learned a lot. I liked the structure of the scheduling. My only issue is the inconsistency between lecturers.
17. Other comments:
Sharon did a great job stepping in to the position and tried to make the class accessible for everyone.
It would help if the SOC was completed on time and be more accurate with the amount of seats and things for the registration process so that registration could be more smoothly. It would also help if the professors who taught us the content would highlight the important facts we need to know instead of reading us a book.
Sharon is the best!
Thank you Sharon for a great semester.
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into the course. It is greatly appreciated by us, even if we don't show it at all! We can tell that you want us to do our best and learn a lot.
I know that the curriculum has be restructured so that the IV insertion lab is now done during the 2nd semester rather than the 4th. I think it was a severe disadvantage to split up the students so that one group went towards the end because they did not really have an opportunity to try to practice it in clinical. However, I did hear of some students, without a background in IV's, who started IV's in clinical without going to the insertion lab first. I also think we should be allowed to practice on one another because ultimately that is the best way for us to learn.
Thank you!
Keep up the good work Sharon! :)
Sharon's effort to teach each topic to the fullest extent was very evident and her time and dedication is very much appreciated. She is very knowledgeable and I wish we had more class meetings so that we can learn more from her!

7. What did you like best about the course?
Sharon helped me so much this semester. She facilitated my learning by being there for support during clinical and helping me with skills and answering any questions that I had. The clinical section is on a GREAT floor!! I got so much nursing experience from this semester that I didn't even imagine would happen and I am so grateful for it.
Sharon has great experience and skill, and was an attentive and supportive clinical instructor. I always felt extremely comfortable consulting her on any matter, and knew that she would be able to provide me with whatever guidance was necessary. I also really appreciated how hard she worked to make us feel like we were being heard and supported throughout the experience. I feel that she pushed us sufficiently but not too fast or hard, gave us clear objectives, and helped us to develop more than I would have thought possible in one term.
The nurses on the unit were great to work with. Sharon was hard to find to do some skills with since the unit is so big. Some of us lost the opportunity to do skills because we couldn't find her
I like the amount of hands on experience and the amount of skills that we got to learn and utilize. Sharon was approachable but not overbearing. She always seemed to be helpful in answering questions.
I really enjoyed my clinical site. I learned a lot from the neuro floor.
My instructor and the amount of knowledge, skills, and critical thinking I learned on the nursing unit/floor. I felt the course content was also relevant to patient care in the hospital.
The instructor was very flexible and was always available when help was needed. She is knowledgeable and challenges you to think critically. She guides us through procedures well also. I definitely enjoyed taking the clinical with her and would recommend other students to take her.
Lots to do Sharon was really understanding and supportive. At no point did I feel pressure or anxiety while Sharon was round. I was able to learn in a comfortable environment. Also being late was not a huge issue for Sharon. I was able to come to clinical with out and fear of bring kicked out of the program. Teachers in previous semesters would tell me that if i was late again I would fail the course. And from then on I could not sleep nights before clinical worrying about waking up late. So i would come to clinical exhausted. Or i would be sprinting from Blaisedell and coming to the floor all sweaty for labor and delivery. Sharon did not have any of that which I greatly appreciated. I know that it is important to be on time but Sharon understands that parking is far along with traffic on the freeway due to the construction makes traffic really bad.

I am honestly sad that the clinical aspect of this semester is over! I wish Sharon could come with us and teach us every semester. :)
Sharon was a delight. I really enjoyed working with her.
Sharon was very patient and helpful during clinicals. She helped me with nursing procedures and walked me step-by-step in a calm manner. She made me feel uncomfortable and confident at clinical and really made me feel welcomed. She didn't rush me to do anything, she was a great clinical instructor.
Sharon is definitely one of the best clinical instructors I've had so far. I don't know how I would have managed without such an instructor especially on the floor I rotated on. She knew how to answer all my questions and perform every nursing skill I needed help on. She inspires and encourages growth and critical thinking. You could also tell that she enjoys watching her students grow.

Clinicals at queens medical center was an extremely good experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sharon is a very good instructor and is extremely knowledgeable about many aspects of nursing. She is receptive to her students, accommodating to their needs. She is also fun and approachable. Not emphasizing the busy work we are assigned with clinical helps because it allows us to rest so we can focus on what is really important for class. sharon was always available to help us with skills when we needed her and devoted her full attention to our learning. She also has a very easy to understand and creative teaching style which i was able to learn a lot from. I would have liked to see her circulating around the floor more but otherwise Sharon was a great instructor.

8. What did you like best about the course?
Sharon's encouragement of critical thinking and independence.
Sharon was very supportive in clinical and had a good knowledge base of the clinical setting and various patient conditions. She really helped me to started consider more critical thinking and integration of various concepts to patient situations.
Sharon was the best clinical instructor I have had yet at UH. She taught me what critical thinking really is!
I loved clinical with Sharon, she knows a lot and taught me a lot. Really fun and easy to work with.
N360 acute care clinical with Sharon Jensen was wonderful! She communicated what she expected of the students very clearly and let us have autonomy in the clinical setting while still being available. She made sure that we were prepared for clinical and worked with the staff to give us great experiences. She is very understanding and patient and very, very knowledgeable! I enjoyed working with her and having her as my instructor.
Sharon is probably the most knowledgeable and most respectable instructors this semester. That's saying A LOT. Her specialty is so intense, and her educational and career background is so admirable that I feel she could possible be the coordinator for N360 one day.
Clinicals and the unit I was on. Queens Tower 5 (Neuro/Trauma)
I liked that we were on the Neuro floor (Tower 5) for clinical. It was a good opportunity to practice a variety of skills and learn a lot. I also liked Sharon. She was a great instructor and was very helpful. She gives very clear instructions and good feedback on one's strengths and weaknesses.
Sharon was a very good clinical instructor. she wasnt too overbearing and she was very lenient. i learned a lot from her this semester and being able to function as an independant student nurse.
Clinical
The application of learned skills in the acute care setting and the ability to care for multiple patients at one time. It has helped me with my time management skills and helped to prepare me for future care situations.
Everything! The neuro floor was great and Sharon was very helpful and this was the first time i actually felt like a nurse during clinical.

<3 Sharon! I will take what Sharon has taught me throughout my career!
Sharon was a very good instructor. It was a pleasure to have her as a clinical instructor.
Amazing instructor!! Truly passionate about her career and teaching!!. I hope all instructors share her passion for teaching
Sharon's the best!
Sharon is an amazing instructor overall. She doesn't hover and smother her students during clinical, which I feel helps us learn independence. Yes, she'll intervene and help whenever we asked (she's very flexible), but I respected her for respecting her students first and foremost.
Sharon has a lot of knowledge, but her weakness is that she in still new to queens hospital, so she didn't know how to use certain equipment such as the kangaroo pump, IV pumps, etc. I think she was a little hesitant and performing certain proceedures with the students. I think once she gains more experience in this specific hospital unit, she will be better.
Very good instructor.
This was the best clinical experience I've had thus far. I learned a lot and had great guidance to help me through this tough semester.
awesome clinical instructor
Loved being at queens, learned many new things on the neuro floor. so thankful we got to be there, wish i could go back!
Sharon is an amazing teacher who pushes her students while being friendly and non-intimidating. This has helped my learning process significantly and I feel like I have acquired the most clinical experience from this semester because of her. She is flexible with the high acuity level of our floor and adjusts teaching accordingly to prevent students from feeling overwhelmed.

11. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
Sharon is a wonderful instructor. She goes above and beyond to help her students. Sharon is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to share her knowledge to enhance students' learning. I greatly appreciate how supportive and positive she was with each student. Sharon is very much a "hands-on" instructor -- a valuable trait in the clinical setting. I highly recommend Sharon as a Med-Surg instructor!
Sharon knew the course material very well. She is a very experienced nurse that provided us with many learning opportunities as well as thorough explanations to our questions. She could always be found in a very upbeat manner and it really rubbed off!
her ability to remain patient with students during teaching is worth applauding. Provides positive encouragement to students as well as helpful constructive feedback when needed.
Sharon is a great clinical instructor. What I found most valuable about Sharon Jensen was that she always emphasized "best practice." I believe that she made each of us think and really be interested in finding out what is the best way to perform a procedure.
Just sitting us down and helping us understand some of the diagnoses. I feel that having her guide us in knowing what needs to get done was great. I really appreciated her guidance towards time management and knowing how to organize three patients.
She was very caring and helpful. She was willing to always help when I didn't understand something or when I didn't know how to do a procedure.
Approachable, encouraging, supportive, knowledgeable
Sharon was always helpful during clinical rotations. She assisted with medication administration and certain tasks, such as dressing changes, hanging IVs, assessments. She also available to answer questions that students had. She gave good feedback on our careplan forms.

Sharon was an awesome teacher. Highly recommended!
Sharon was very approachable throughout the semester, which I really appreciate. She was also willing to teach us new things, and even encouraged us to further our learning by doing research on things we were unsure of or just wanted to know more about. Sharon communicated effectively, showed enthusiasm for teaching, and shared lots of her knowledge and experience with us.

9. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
The aspects of the course that were most valuable were the knowledge about career opportunities, learning about the APA format so that we could get a head start on what kinds of papers we will have to write when we start nursing school, and a little knowledge about what to expect in nursing school.
In-class discussions were most valuable. I was able to talk with Sharon and my classmates about the lessons we were learning. This helped me to understand what I was learning.
All of the aspects were things that I had not known previously how to do before. Therefore, everything we did from learning APA format and making our presentations more effective were valuable.

12. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
She taught us a lot about what kinds of skills we will need and what kinds of things we will be learning. She helped us get our feet in the door. She is very helpful and resourceful for both school matters and out of school matters. She is also very friendly and easy to talk to so we are able to be comfortable to talk to her about anything.
Sharon is open to students. She is actively involved with her students and is always making sure that we understand what is expected from us.
She is always available for help and is really knowledgeable about almost any topic. I feel really comfortable discussing my questions or issues with her.

Sharon's knowledge of the course material.
The instructor was amazing
I felt that Sharon was clearly an expert in the field of assessment and was always looking for ways to enhance our understanding and skills. I learned a lot during lab and clinicals because Sharon was actively engaged in teaching us.
Her demonstrations on the head-to-toe exam, and her helpful pointers during clinical assessments!
Everything! I am so thankful I ended up with Maunalani and Sharon as my clinical teacher. She really wanted to help every one of us to succeed not just in her class but in MEPN in general. She is hands down the most knowledgeable teacher I have had in this program so far.
Sharon was an amazing instructor and I appreciated her modified assignments that pertained to the population we were working with.
14. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?
-- snipped --
I thought it was difficult to learn what is normal and abnormal when assessing only elderly patients with many comorbidities.
-- snipped --
I enjoyed this course a lot! There is only so much we can do with the population but overall it was the perfect place for beginning nursing students to begin clinicals.

19. What changes would you make in the clinical experiences?
I loved my clinical experience at Maunalani. I wouldn't change anything.
A clinic with more of a variety of patients to examine
-- snipped --
I think the clinical experience should be a combination of an elderly long term care facility and a clinic where would be able to be more active in the care and assessment of patients.
-- snipped --
None, this clinical was awesome.

20. How can the laboratory be improved?
If the course was spread throughout the semester and less intense each week, we may have had more opportunity to soak in the material and build a stronger foundation.
I think the laboratory section was valuable because we had a knowledgeable instructor.

My clinical was so much fun and Sharon is an excellent teacher and mentor. She should stay with MEPN not the undergrads :)
