13. What did you like about this course, such as activities, projects, assignments, etc.?

I really enjoyed being able to post on the discussions as it pertained to everyday events and it was nice reading everyones post as well. i really enjoyed this class.

Group discussions

Great discussion topics!

Fun and I liked the discussions. It was nice to see other perspectives on things that are very natural in life and we all go through.

I liked that this course had a guide on everything we needed to study for and everything we needed to know. This class was also fun and had variety of labs which made it boring because every lab was not run the same. There was a twist to every lab which brought excitement. I also like that the teacher was willing to help and was very interactive with the students.

I really enjoyed being one of mrs. marlows students, she has made learning fun and exciting and I look forward to being one of her students again next semester.

Everything is clear and to the point. Plenty of time to get things done for the average online student, the nontraditional student.

I liked how we had to interact with other students

I enjoyed every aspect of this class. My classmates answered the discussion questions thoughtfully and responded to my posts with encouragement and honesty. My classmates allowed me into their hearts and minds and shared both their painful life experiences along with their hopes and dreams. I felt honored to be trusted with such details. I enjoyed every student and what they brought to the class. I feel that every discussion question was relevant and thought provoking.

I just spent 15 minutes typing my answer to these questions and they were lost by this site signing me out. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and Professor Marlow's presentation.

That it was online.

i liked that it was online, i could do it on my own time, and the quizzes were open book, so it was a little bit of a relief:)responding to peer responses in discussion was fun even though we didnt meet in person it allowed us to interact with each other. im glad i took this class this semester because the materail corresponded with a few of my other classes, and gave me a broader perspective on topics as well as resources.

I enjoyed all of the assignments. This was a fun class and I learned alot.

I can't think of any suggestions. I would highly recommend this class.

Not trying to be facetious, but a physical classroom setting would be only way to improve. Very engaging material with a Professor who made you think.

i liked how she teaches and how she gives chances

I l=really liked how much group activities we had. The group activities were not too much and not too little, they were the perfect amount. I also enjoyed the tests because they challenging but I loved it.

I learned so much new material in this course it was amazing, I loved the layout of the course with a mixture of projects and timely tests. I was amazed by the flexibility, we were able to spend whole class periods talking and debating on personal views and beliefs of factors of psychology.

I liked that Charleen is very open about herself and her life. She wasn't judgemental when a student asked deeper questions.

I liked all assigned assignments.

Lectures were brief and summative, explaining key points using great references and descriptions. Group work was enjoyable, and being able to use notes for a quiz is an awesome plus.

Learning about the mind and how it relates to how people view others clinically is entertaining. students due tend to self diagose others.

Charleen is a great teacher! She is sooo well prepared and is sooo knowledgeable. It is amazing! She is very patient and takes the time to explain in depth about the theory involved.

I liked how my teacher was laid back and nice. Her class was easy to learn in because it was calm and not stressfull area:) It helped with my anxiety. thank you.

I really enjoyed this class and the way you presented things and explained in detail what everything meant if i could talk you class all over again i would!

I enjoyed coming to Charleen's class everyday. Psychology is something i have always been interested in and she made it even more exciting. She explained this very well and was very open in everything we talked about. I enjoyed the group presentations because it gave us a chance to learn on our own and teach our peers. Charleen has been an amazing professor!

I appreciate how you used powerpoints to teach the class and reupload it on laulima, because I study better by sight. Also for dubbing the powerpoints on lualima. Group projects and assignments was great! Notes helped alot with the quizes! The examples given regarding the lectures helped also! The Big 5 was a good sections, the questions you gave made see "who I am" more, I'm actually the Healer!

she was very colorful and fun to listen to. activities were relevant and had fun doing it.

Professor Marlow is really fun, knows the subject well and is enthusiastic about the topic. Anybody can get an A in the class as long as they try. There is NO big final quiz but rather 5 short quizzes. You are not forced to memorize all the "boring stuff" but instead encouraged to grasp the concept. If you have good attendance, youÊ»ll have extra credit opportunities if you didÊ»nt do well on the quizzes. I would highly recommend taking this class.

I enjoyed our group projects. it was really effective through engaging course material.

Charleen is a great teacher. She gets involves and is very knowledgeable about Psychology. I have recommended her to several of my friends already. She also has a great sense of humor and she does not pressure you.

I really enjoyed the structure of the class, such as the chapters we read and the related powerpoint presentations in class, as well as the powerpoints with Charleen's voice over on Laulima. I strongly believe that the reason I did so well in this class is because I had three ways to learn the subject matter: by reading the chapter, by attending Charleen's lecture, and then by reviewing with Charleen's provided powerpoints online.

I liked the discussion assignments. It really helped me to think outside the box more.

I feel that the discussion questions were very thought provoking and relevant to the material being covered. I appreciated the openness of my classmates and the responses that were given. I enjoyed every aspect of this class.The range of personalities and ages made each lesson very interesting. Ms.Marlow was very encouraging and offered both insight and thoughts to ponder for every assignment given. She answered my questions ,via email, in a timely manner.

I took the class online and found class to be very interesting.

I liked that Charleen brought Psychology to life for me. I felt that the brain is to far complex and that charleen did an amazing job in helping me understand psychology.

She always gave us lots of time! she cares about how we are doing in this class even though it was online! she is an amazing online teacher! The beast part of this class is that the projects get you to think about what you need to know and why they are so important!

I really liked the assignments for this course. They all helped me to learn a lot. The assignments kept things interesting and up beat. I mostly liked the essay writing where we did research and wrote about what we learned or what our favorite concept was or how we related to that concept.

Nothing she is absolutely amazing!

There was just one thing that I feel I might be helpful to another student. Sometimes there were tests that needed to be released at a certain day but weren't released until later in the afternoon. If the test were released at an earlier time it would have been helpful to me.

The course as well as assignments was perfect. She did not overload but did have us do assignments that allowed us to learn more, especially with her bonus discussions. She's AWESOME!!

It was good for an online class. Not too many projects, and more quizzes and writeups.

She is great!

Projects were insightful.

I like the narrated power points, it helped me to understand the material better than just reading the text book or looking at the slides provided.

I enjoyed her lectures, even though because the course was completely online, we could not interact with the lectures, I still felt they were interesting and thought-provoking. I enjoyed the ooportunity to get to know the other online students as well.

Charleen Marlow is a Wonderful Teacher!!! The Books, Materials, Online Presentations and Lectures were fascinating and a Wonderful Learning Journey!!! I really enjoyed the thought provoking Questions, Discussions, and Bonus Questions - they helped tremendously in giving insight to Life Span Development and my internal developmental life journey!!! Human Development is fascinating, and I learned a tremendous amount! Charleen is a Wonderful Learning Facilitator, Very Supportive, Empathetic, Knowledgeable, Motivating, Inspiring, and an Exceptional Teacher!!! She is one of the Best Teachers I have had the pleasure of being with... Thank You Charleen!!!

I liked the fact that she gave the students time to do the assignments as well as the quiz's, and i also liked doing the discussions for the class.

This was an online class, so it helped to participate in class discussions. I felt that the class participated way more then a regular class situation because it was required of us.

I think that this course is what each person made of it. If you want to learn, you need to read the book. Slackers may get a good grade, but won't learn as much.

Would love to take this class with Marlow but not online. She is so much fun!

I loved her class. Charleen Marlow knew her stuff and presented it very well. She had the class interact as one and we got into learning very quick!

I enjoyed everything about the course! I especially loved and learned from the personally narrated presentations Charleen Marlow used to cover course material. Her personalization made the online class seem as if you were sitting in the same room.

The questions that my professor asked us. It really made me think about myself in a good way. She is a great teacher. She stays on course and is very professional. I really enjoyed having her as my professor.

Activities were relevant and discussion forums were very interactive and Charleen always responded to ALL my questions.

The book is a wonderfully enriching and user-friendly learning resource. Also, the Internet lectures with Charleen was wonderfully motivating and engaging! The Discussion Questions involved self-awareness, discovery, and thought-provoking! I enjoyed hearing other student's perspectives and experiences. I greatly appreciated the learning time and method assimilating and retaining with the Quizzes... we learn and assimilate so much more with this method! (not rote regurjitating and spitting out info)

Again, there was plenty of time to complete the assignments for busy learners.

As with the Human Development, I enjoyed the lectures. Charleen has a way of using examples to drive home a point, which helped me better understand the different topics we covered.

Charlene marlow is a very awesome instructor! I would like to take more courses with her.

I really enjoyed the structure of the course. It was clear what we needed to do and how to do it. The discussions challenged you to think and gave everyone the chance to give their opinion. The optional assignments were helpful and instructive, and made the information be more easily remembered. The time given for tests and assignments was consistent which help the course go very smoothly.

As written in previous ecafe survey on this class -I would not change a thing. Class discussion provided a multi-cultural learning experience, and the existing bias and narrow vision was eye opening. I never dreamed that this young population still lived so far in the past. In hopes of a better future - I can only hope that they learned something from this class and open themselves to change.

Summer session is a lot of work in a short period of time - lot of reading, a quizz every week, class discussions and response to fellow students. I was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated with my performance and I was considering dropping the class. Professor Marlow responded with compassion and support and gave me the motivation to continue with the course. Much mahalo for her aloha. I enjoyed the class discussions. Being that this was an on-line class, It gave everyone a chance to get to know each other from our discussions. We were all able to voice our opinions about each others discussions.

What a great course to have online! Engaging subject matters with participation from the entire class. The class was given time to think about their answers, thoughts, and feelings, as opposed to a campus class where you may be put on the spot to answer. It was such a great thing to do online and interact that way. And the website! What a great website! I got excited everytime I went to it. The presentations were useful and the utube video clips delightfully added to content and education of the material

I really liked the discussion questions she gave us to answer and how she encouraged us to interact with our peers in our online class.

I really enjoyed all of the discussion questions. They were a lot of fun and a great way to get to know the other students.

I thought that this course was very intense and interesting as well. We were able to learn about all different types of cultures. The videos that were presented to us were good.

Everything was great,very interactive setting. Every posed question made clear. Open forum style made for a relaxed and informative academic setting.

I enjoyed everything about this course! I never imagined this course to be so fascinating, the human brain is amazing. I am glad I took this course. I am really looking into changing my major to Psychology when I transfer to the uh. I enjoyed the group activities, the power point presentations she had, in class as well as on laulima.

The main aspect of this course that I enjoyed was pretty much evverything that I learned. I loved how she made it humoress about touchy subject matters.

Professor Marlow's class has become one of my favorites. She makes learning fun and explains Psychology in a casual setting that makes it easy to absorb important information faster. It's hard to find a teacher that captures your attention and gets down to a personal level where you are comfortable to ask any question....no matter how far fetch it may seem. Learning should be a fun experience and I think she is the best at making that happen. She is awesome & I am honored to have had her as one of my professors.

The instructor's teaching methods and lectures kept me interested in the material. The dynamic of the class also helped with making class enjoyable and not boring. Definitely the best class I enrolled in this semester.

I enjoyed the projects/presentations we got to do for this class. It really made the content easier to understand and also a lot more fun to pay attention to. I really enjoyed the way Charlene taught the lessons, through Powerpoint and thorough discussion/story-sharing. I especially liked how close the students in the class got, enough to share personal experiences and not be afraid of judgement or nonacceptance. That could only have come about through a positive, supportive atmosphere which was greatly influenced by the way Charlene led the class. The content of each lesson really stuck in my mind because of the interactive way we were encouraged to learn.

Our class was very involved in class discussions. Many of us were comfortable to share personal experiences that we'd never be able to express around others. This shows how deep our understanding and how intrigued we are into learning about psychology with Prof. Marlow.

First of all, I would like to Thank Professor Marlow for her great teachings in all that she do. EVERYTHING!!!

I loved everythings this course had to offer. Mrs. Charleen Marlow is one of the BEST teachers and does a really good job teaching such a complcated subject such as psychology. She made psychology very interesting and east to learn. I loved this class.

Charleen is an excellent instructor. She is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I really couldn't find fault except to say that if she really cannot make it to class, as happened twice in the semester, an apology and explanation would have been nice. As it happened, her's was my only class on the days she taught it. This meant that I came to school only to attend her class. It was hard not to be irritated, when I realized that I could have planned other activities or simply stayed home and studied. Perhaps a text or a phone call would have alleviated the problem.

I loved your teaching style. I just really enjoyed this class.

Everything, this was a really good course, The activities and assignment were fun and informative.

We were always involved in group presentation.

The activities made it possible to get to know our fellow classmates. Instead of just listening to the professor, the students were able to learn from each other.

I liked this class. I thought the quizzes were difficult, though, because sometimes there would be questions in it that weren't in the book. Other then that, it's been a fun class overall, I think.

I like that this course kept me entertained I was always learning and wanting to learn. Projects were very effective.

The projects and activities were fun and interesting. I liked how Mrs. Marlow made us do group work and how she chose the groups sometimes. Being grouped with different people helped me get to know more of the people in the class. Getting to know the other people in the class made me feel more comfortable.

I really liked everything. I liked our lectures, our observation project, having goodies in the class. Interesting to learn about personalities, and it sucks that this class is over because I would like to keep going.

I bet that all the people that took this class will say "we love the fact that there was no final!!" Plus, I liked the open notes quizzes! haha. Charlene is a great teacher, she puts up with my loud mouth in class! :) She makes the subject matter fun and relevant to my age group. She is very smart, she knows a lot about psychology, and i am very impressed with how well she memorizes her lectures! That just amazes me.... She is so nice to her students (she brings us candy) and is an overall good teacher. I would recommend her to anyone.

I enjoyed this course because Mrs. Marlow presented the information in a very interesting way.

I like how Charleen Marlow automatically posts our grades on Laulima and includes a â??class curveâ?? to keep students aware of their grades. Also how she posts the lectures and assignments online for resources. How she incorporates videos into her lessons to make them more engaging, and how she uses online discussions for extra credit. All in all, I like how we have 5 quizzes but only the 4 highest scores are calculated towards your final course grade.

I really enjoyed reading about my other classmates review on the laulima website. I like responding and sharing ideas and comments. The feedback I got from my fellow classmates helped as a group discussions.

I liked that she gave us enough time to complete our assignments. This was the only class that I felt I learned something at my own pace and I didn't feel overwhelmed. If I were to teach this course: (a) I believe I would be incapable of conveying the intellectual ability and fluency of the subject matter that my instructor has so graciously bestowed upon me and my fellow peers. C. Marlow has presented a diversity of learning and comprehension methods that pertained to the substance of the course while keeping (although I can only speak on my own behalf) the studentâ??s interests peaked, especially during our discussions. She has successfully made my first online experience a grand and memorable one! Beforehand, I was apprehensive toward this direction of learning and the Laulima forum was uncharted territories. There is much to learn here. We just have to commit and read and re-read and do the concepts and the quizzes in the text and check for understanding as well as the power points. This covers all of us. Those of us who are auditory, visual, hands on. There are many new words and much science. Will I retain it? I found that out on a Medical show. I knew what they were talking about! I don't talk about it with my friends but I do with my dogs! They think I am crazy! I would not change a thing. Perhaps when I am a Professor and teaching Psy 100............ but I doubt it.

She is a FANTASTIC INSTRUCTOR. She is full of energy, and makes learning in her class interesting. For myself, she kept my attention throughout the class, and never was she boring. I was always excited to attend each of her classes.

I really like how our teacher knows her stuff. The group work and experiments made the class more interesting. I appreciate knowing what is expected of me ahead of time, in terms of grading.

I think Professor Marlow draws you in with curiosity and intrigue.

I like the way she provides a powerpoint outline, allowing me to choose point that i need to write down, while being able to clearly see it. Group work has made students socialize with each other allowing us to put our input towards the class.

I have immensely enjoyed C. Marlowâ??s approach to academics. I think she has appealed to all developmental characteristics of a studentâ??s learning capabilities. She has strived (from my perspective) to maintain that our (her students) interests were peaked and the retention of information was being absorbed. The diversity of inquiries prompted by her initiated outstanding responses from my classmates and me. Though psychology disorders and/or conditions can be distressing or overwhelming (and yes perhaps an unpleasant fact of life), I found it to be intriguing. Statistics, various additional resources, has broadened my awareness to the topic. On a more personal note, I would be honored to enroll in any instructional course taught by her.

She gave us more than enough time to read all chapters and lectures and post our discussions for her assignments.

Personally, I deeply believe Hawaii Community Collegeâ??s forum is fortunately blessed with her presence on campus. She is a valuable asset to the curriculum. I am thankful to have known her and have appreciated her support throughout the Spring 2010 semester. I plan to enroll in any future psychology course (or otherwise) taught by her. I look at the slides during the test. Perhaps it would've been better to take off the slides when tests start and have timed tests. I just felt like I was cheating so much.

I really enjoyed her class. I feel that I got a lot out of it and she made it very interesting to learn.

I feel blessed to have been part of this class. I feel such a closeness to my classmates. Professor Marlow has brought out the best of us, over and over again. I love and appreciate the hands on methods combined with the text book of westernized education. What I learned from her the most, is the group presentations. I was able to understand from my peers who could interpret the PSYCH language into my language.

i enjoyed the content of the subject. i was hoping to go over more relationship matierial, but i understand that it is just a general survey of psy. i thought the teacher knew the subject extremely and almost astonishingly well.

I absolutely love Mrs. Marlow. She is exciting and interesting. She lectures in a way that everyone can understand and takes the time to go over things we don't quite grasp. Class participation projects are great and her classes are never ever boring. She is great.

The after-lunch class must be one of the toughest class to teach, considering many of us are ready for a nap. However, Ms. Marlow's energy and enthusiasm kept me awake and interested. Frankly, I don't know how she does it.

It's good for local students because her speaking style is not formal. Therefore, international students are very confused.

Her teaching methods were wonderful. First of all, she made everyone feel very comfortable by treating us as an equal and not standing before us as if she was better than us. She gave us a clear guideline using the syllabus as to what was expected of us and when. She was funny and interesting to listen to. She made sure that we understood before moving on and used visual aids and examples of topics. Her style of being open and honest about stuff is what the "real world" is about and was sure to leave out the bologna. She is a great professor and I plan to take additional classes from her in the future.

Her understanding and experience of the subject enabled her to speak knowledgeably in lecture without notes. She could cite examples quickly when students needed them. There were so many new concepts and terminology, but the teacher could explain them clearly in plain language. Bravo! She taught us that our grade was entirely in our hands. As long as we showed up for class, the material was explained thoroughly and the tests passable. The test themselves were not easy, even the open notes or the take home one. You had to understand the material to interpret the questions. You had to think. You had to know how the teacher thinks. There was ample time to discuss and do group work projects during class. She gave handouts, sample test questions, and report write-up questions. She was clear about her objectives. She is an example of a teacher that not only KNOWS her stuff but also knows how to TEACH the stuff to students.

I believe Charlene is a great teacher that encourages critical thinking.

To be honest, I am not sure how much of the information I learned in class will be used for my future career. I think I learned more from Ms. Marlow's professionalism, generosity, sense of humor - just her way of being. she is great the way she teaches. i felt very comfortable with her and evryone else. i am trying to get into her FARM class for next semester. because of how great she is too.

The class seemed to speed by, I'm not sure I ever needed the text, or really learned any concepts. More of a social event than class instruction.

We need more instructors like marlow. Very clear and understanding.

I'm not sure if this professor has tenure, but I certainly hope she does. HCC is very lucky to have her.
