2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
Provided me with information needed for my major.
This course centers on the CISSP. It is the standard certifications in the information assurance field. This course was to prep for the exam.
This course promotes and encourages those who are in ISA or CENT to try and seek certifications for the IT field.
It was very practical in that we were challenged to obtain our CISSP certification in lieu of taking the final exam. So this was a practical motivator for all involved. So not only would the student receive course credit for their concentration/major, they could also leave the class with a CISSP certification in hand.
This course taught me a lot about my relevant field and has definitely helped prepare me for the CISSP exam as intended.
Very thorough coverage of the material and he presented the material matter in an interesting manner. I feel ready to take the official certification test.
It has been a fun challenging class. It challenged me to study harder and read more, which both will help my professional career.

The idea was that final exam is supposed to be like a prep for the actual CISSP exam... that is kind of pushing the limits a bit, because the course covers A LOT of material.
Very practical course. I definitely learned a lot and was challenged by the topics presented.

2. If this course was taken to fulfill course requirements for your concentration/major, how did this course enhance your personal and/or professional development in your concentration/major?
Philip has a lot of knowledge of this topic. The course assignments were informative and interesting. There were assignments that brought the hacking world into the class and into better perspective.
It gave me hands on experience with tools that I would be using in the field and gave experience in thinking on my feet and problem solving when needed.
Taught tools and how the tools penetrate. Knowing this valuable info can help prevent and secure a network.

The only issue I had was with regard to the VMWare player. On my system I had issues with the amount of RAM needed to properly run the VirtualBox and VMWare Player. A notice in the course catalog would have allowed me to update the RAM sooner rather than in the middle of the semester.
Possibly a set of private servers to do some of our assignments on, so that we can have a safe place to learn some of the techniques. Also possibly update the book. A lot of the instructions for the hands-on activities did not work with current versions of the software.
Updated instructions on using the hacking tools
