Jim is a great teacher i like all the guest speakers and activities we had , it help we learn, Jim projects were fare

projects were great very helpfull for when i open my resturant.

Course went into detail about other aspects of running a restaurant, that most otherwise would not have thought about.

Nothing just let jim do his thing we is a great teacher and is very helpful , If you need anything in class or out of class he is willing to help

I thought it was great.Learned a great deal.Also liked the guest speakers jim brought in very knoledgeable.

i like this course because the activities is good,,,i always wanted to have a class like this because i love to work in a hotel

I like being able to learn more about the hotel systems & how they work.

good pace for reading, quizes and tests

even if i could not go to any of the field trips, i thought that it was a great way to learn more things.

I enjoyed the many aspects of learning the Hospitality and Tourism trade and understanding the many different concepts of the lodging operation.

I really enjoy the excursions that we attend.

The classroom experience and the field trips.

Mr. Lightner is a excellent instructor to learn by.

I liked that we remained on subject. We talked about material that was relevant and easy to understand. Jim was very right to the point and his was very clear and helped us understand the course.

I liked how Mr.Lightner made us be interactive with class discussions. We participated with hilo students and got to know them which is unusual in most vidcon classes.

14. Any suggestions to improve this course?

he should come and visit often..

I think there should be a bit more "hands on" for this course.

more field trips and a be a little bit more strict on the homework assignments becuase when a teacher is a bit more strict on assignments i work to my best.

I believe more hands on would be appropriate for this course

Bring Mr. Lightner to HILO! Update the video feed for this class. It should have been faster and clear!

a couple of times, in reading the course book, it would state one thing and yet when that statement was given as an answer to a quiz question it was counted as wrong. was probably just a typo in setting up the quizes, maybe quiz answers could be double checked before next time this class is offered

i like this course because i like to learned a lot more about customer service

I really like the excursions.

I Loved the simulation class work. it's helps me to prepare for my future job in the hotel industry. and helps me to understand the standard that i should be at when I reach the field

Mr Lightner is very fare and a great instructor, for a student like me,that takes a little bit longer the normal students.

I liked that we remained on subject always and the material we went over pertained to the course. The assignments were easy, but I learned from them regardless.

I liked that Jim was very knowledgable about each subject and had a lot of job experience that could relate to the subject we were on. Assignments were kept to a minimum so we could learn and enjoy the course instead of rushing through it trying to get the work done.

he should come and visit us often

Need to upgrade the TV in the HOST class room. The video feed was poor, and the quality of the picture was junk!

We could have more hand on work, like visiting more places for field trips.

15. Other comments:

having a small book was really refreshing and helpful I actually could read each chapter thoroughly instead of skimming through. With all the other work from other courses sometimes students don't read the chapters at all because each is 30-40pgs long! that's just ridiculous. our book for this class was only about 10pgs per chapter making it easier to read and retain.

I don't think that I could do anything to improve this course, Mr F. does a great job.......And I wouldn't change a thing!!

Nothing really, he does a great job at teaching two classes at once.

Mr. Lightner is an Awesome teacher, hes very fair and compassionate to each individual need.

Depending on the book and a bad microphone and blurry T.V. system made it hard for me in learning the material on this subject.

The course is good. It's just a shame he teachers from Kona.

20. What do you think of the teacher and his/her teaching methods?

Mr. F is very knowledgeable about this course because of his various hospitality encounters. He is the most perfect person that you can find to teach this course......I am looking forward to taking his classes next semester....

Very good, he makes sure we all understand the subject.

Besides the fact that he is on video conference his teaching method is very thorough he followed his course outline to a "T".

His teaching method made were easy to follow.

He did a good job explaining the material.

I think he was great and enjoyed taking the class

when I am in class listening to Mr. F, it is like I am there at the front desk or working with house keeping department. It's like I am on the job with my trainer....

I'm not sure what I would change to improve it.

Personally nothing, Mr Lightner was very thourough.

If there is something i would change, probably I wish the teacher is in Hilo at least few times a month.

Mr. Lightner did a great job with what he knew, he used various examples in his teaching and was always open for dicussion on whatever we needed help on.

It was okay.

I think Mr. Lightner is an absolute gem, always displayed a possitively and professionally.
