17. What did you like most about your online course experience?
|
| Overall, I enjoyed the course. That was not the thought I had going into the class, but DP made the class fun and relevant. I learned a lot about research and aspects of research. The information will definitely be useful to me as a teacher. |
| Rigor, and challenge to extend my horizon of possibilities for learning. The feed back was most
timely and well organized. This was the most adequately and timely assessed course in this program
so far. Paul also set a great example of fairness, when he adjusted the assignments according to
student responses, and even reevaluated his own approach when many students did not perform
well. He modeled best practices and best instruction and organization. |
| I was not much of a tec person, however i had learned a lot about things I had not paid attention to.
I had also learned many new views and ideas form others far away as if they were close by.
I had also help me to improve myself and since I had learned something new, Now I could help others too.
Thank You. |
| The research I did that should benefit my teaching. |
| There wasn't much of a difference from the traditional classes. There was a lot of interaction. What i
enjoyed most was less printing or papers. It was convenient. |
| I like the flexibility of online courses but sometimes because of internet connections and other technical challenges it makes it hard to attend classes or turn in assignments by the deadline. But thank goodness that Dr. Deering is understanding and he knows our plight. |
| Got to know Dr. Paul Deering better and having the chance to prove myself worthy of such a challenge. It was good because i had a chance to analyze graphs and do research about what i should do to improve in the classroom as a teacher. |
| I learned a lot from online course, especially going through a long process to Elluminate Live. I am happy that I understand a lot of websites to get information from. |
| Sharing with other colleagues from off Island. More comfortable logging from anywhere. |
| what i like most is about online courses, is the networking..... and that everything is electronically delivered.. |
| The different ways of conducting research whether it was action research or a descriptive research. Another thing was how to create and being able to read and analyze the different datas/graphs given on the different research studies. |
| I would have to say that I liked the fact that we got to evaluate research that was conducted and then we got to conduct our own as a group. The more I worked to meet a given deadline, the more apparent Deering's methods were. It was a lot of work, but it was well worth the struggle.
I especially liked the part of the semester where we got to work with graphs - learning to create, read and analyze data using graphs. It was a lot of fun once we all got to know what we were doing! |
| Gaining the ability to effectively evaluate educational research and the way others conduct their research |
| I learned how to do research to find out what issues that needs to resolve and addressed to help improve students' learning in the classrooms. Collecting data through various methods and graphing them in different graphs are some of the many things that I learned to help me provide strong evidence of whatever research I'm researching on. |
| I tend to experience a lot of researchers and access a lot of available resources that support teaching and learning as well. |
| The presentations, sharing about others works or feedbacks, no distance traveling and I get to add
or disagree about others point of views. I also got to know how to elluminate and send submissions. |
| Sharing and feedbacks from other colleagues. |
| I have expereinced so many great things from this online program. But what I liked most is that I had the ability to develop my growth as a professional in doing research and wanting to learn more in technology skills. Because I am not a computer person but with this program I have learned a lot. Doing research and improving my writing as well. |
|
|
18. What did you like least about your online course experience?
|
| I would say the the worst part of the course is the technology malfunctions. Elluminate would kick me off every once in a while, but other than that, I do not have anything negative to say about DP's course. |
| Sometimes it was difficult to have a long class after a long day. |
| Not been able to be connect on time and to get disconnected many a times really fustrated me. Sometimes when I did not understand and had to resubmit work. Even though it helped I would have enjoyed it more if i was face to face with the instructor. |
| This was a hard course to have online. I had a hard time understanding what was expected of us. Feedback wasn't always clear. Online quiz was too much. We had wrong questions and were still expected to correct them, I felt cheated of points because of those questions. |
| There are times when the connection was bad. |
| Work load was too heavy for someone who works full-time. this class is stressful and I found it a struggle to keep up. At times I felt like I'm losing it, but never thought of quitting. |
| Sometimes, there were problems on elluminating classes live. |
| Bad connection |
| really learned alot from this course.... |
| I feel that what I least liked about the online course experience would be the connection, but everything online the sharing with other colleagues are great. |
| The confusion of proper heading for turning in assignments! The internet connection! |
| It dragged on, and was a bit boring. |
| Trying to make connection with the heading of assignments and the heading of assignments to turn in. |
| The only problem that I experiience sometimes is with the internet connection. |
| I dislike the part of the internet being down closer to the time of class. If this happens we get to
travel to find internet connections. Sometimes its hard to send work through laulima and do
submissions online. |
| The internet connections was basically the only challenge that we faced during this course as it was
always the problem. |
| what I like the least is the internet connection when its failed here on island. Not everyday the internet stays the same. That is the only thing that I do not like about online courses. |
|

19. Other comments:
|
| DP is an excellent teacher. The amount of feedback he gives each student is exceptional and makes sure to point out the strengths and areas for improvement on all assignments. Since we were able to resubmit work after revisions, the grading policy is appropriate. The amount of material that was to be covered was divided between homebases making the class more engaged during class. Information is relevant or will be relevant to help me adjust my curriculum in the classroom. |
| My respect for Paul has greatly increased and his expertise in the field of education has once more
been manifested. I feel privileged to have learned from him. |
| Give the students more time to get on line and to adjust the timing . since its onine program and the majority are working, they really need to RUSH and get to their place of connection, overlooking all the meetings, traffic blocks and others.
Other than that all is fine. |
| Job well done to our instructor Paul Deering. I learned alot from this course. |
| No other comments, this class was excellent, the instructor/professor really helped us get through this tough class. |
| I really enjoyed our first ever class with Dr. Deering. We got to see his strategies and some of his methods of teaching. During this class, there were a lot of "A-HA!" moments when we got started on assignments and presentations. |
| This course is one of the most complicated class for this melmed program. I guess it's research
class. At the same time, I'm happy because I know how to work on a research paper adding its
components to to make it more meaningful. This is really a workout for me as I never stop resting
until I'm quite sure something is worth added or deleted when it doesn't belong in the paper. I also
got to learn how to do graphs and tables. Something new every week. |
| Thank You Dr. Deering for your patient and for staying professional when we give you hard time.
You are one of those that we can turn to when we need help. God bless and Soifua. |
| I have nothing else to say but to thank you for being patient with me, there are lots of time that I feel like I want to quit and withdraw from the program but with your encouragement and understanding it keeps me move on. Thanks for your knowledge that you have shared and I hope that I will try and try until it comes to the end of this program. |
