The clarification of things that were confusing.
Taking the time to read full moolelo. For me, I had never read an entire moolelo written in Hawaiian Language and in this class, we read more than one. It was also very helpful for us to discuss everything as a class. It was a better learning environment and made it more intimate.

The actual work of translating
Going through the various Hawaiian Language newspapers and seeing how these newspaper were different. Also, translating played a significant role in developing my skills.
Learning how to navigate the newspapers.
Understanding how to work the online hawaiian language newspaper database and walking through article to see the use of language and better understand it.
The constant class discussion to see others' problems and others' perspectives on different translations of certain articles.
all the articles we translated for more and more practice. the major project of 10 pages was also very valuable.

22. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
I enjoyed the learning environment that was created by both my peers and my instructor. It was an excellent class! Mahalo Kumu!
Some of the articles were assigned and some were selected by the students, i liked this part because it presented an opportunity for the student to research a topic interesting to him/her. I also liked going through the articles in class and hearing feedback from the professor.
I liked the variety of newspaper articles we looked at.
