This class was a wake up call, my eyes were opened to things I never thought of or couldn't see with him educating me.
The discussions really brought to light different aspects and solutions to problems. I didn't necessarily agree with the solutions and perspectives people had to offer, nonetheless it was nice to have different views of certain problems.

Angel Camacho, is, by far, the best professor I have ever had. He is a big part of the reason I have decided to switch my major to sociology. I have never met a professor so passionate, driven, and genuine. He truly cares about his students. I always look forward to his classes, and have already pick another class of his for fall semester 2014.
The way Angel Camacho taught this class is essential for every student/person in the world to hear. Yes, it is an opinion based on theories, but it is a good perspective to have awareness about. I believe that the issues and concepts that were brought up should be taught in every sociology class. Angle Camacho tries hard to be open to opinions, but can be a little forceful with his ideals. Also, the articles are a little out-dated. It would be nice to get articles that are from the 2012 to now at the most.
Favorite Class!
Thanks for a great semester!
You really opened up my world perspective further, and I appreciate that. Best of luck in your future endeavors! WB
I really enjoyed this course and it has changed my perspective on a lot of things in the world! However, grade-wise, I wish that our final grades were posted throughout the course so that we could keep up with our grade. Thank you! :-)
Sounds cliche but this class was life-changing for me. It made me aware of societal problems I have never heard about or even given a second thought about. Some of these issues also really hit home for me. Really glad I took this class and recommended it to some of my friends.
This is my favorite class this semester. I'm so glad I took it. By taking this course, I found a love for sociology, which helped me declare my major. Angel Camacho is great, and I recommend this course and this teacher to everyone.
This was the class that I actually looked forward to because most of our classes ended up in free- flowing discussion, and since everyone in the class cared about these issues, and were driven honors students, our discussions were extremely thought provoking and definitely sparked an interest in everyone there
By far, one of the best professors I've had. This is only my first year at UH Manoa and because of him, I have hope for all other professors ^_^ This class was engaging, relevant to present day issues, and highly educational. I would recommend this class and especially professor to any peers in a HEART BEAT. Thank you for teaching us so many wonderful things this semester and I soon hope you receive the recognition you deserve as an educator!
Probably my favorite class of the semester. Really inspired me to try and make a change - even if it's only in one persons thinking.
Angel Camacho is a very inspiring teacher and is able to communicate his material in a very applicable way. His class has revolutionized the way I see others and myself, and all for the better. His main focus of the course is to promote equality for all people, and then uses empirical evidence to back up his position. I would recommend this course to everyone.
The readings were a lot sometimes and he accepted absolutely no late work

I like the attempt to create a unique student teacher relationship unfortunately I'm not sure this class was prepared for that level of learning. I enjoy your passion. Great job, if the students put in more it could be better although there is nothing more you can do for that people just don't care and that's probably why so many of the issues we discussed are allowed to thrive in our society.
the class was enjoyable, I learned a lot and would tell others to take the course as well. teacher was really passionate about the information shared. thanks

Easily the best sociology professor I've ever had. The guy knows what he's saying and is passionate about what he says. Every sociology student should take a course with Angel. I wish I could take every class with the guy.
TAKE THE CLASS!
Professor Camacho is a breath of fresh air from some of the tenured faculty here at UH. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, but he sparks the same knowledge and passion in his students. Professor Camacho should be able to teach any course he wants and was by far one of my more favorite professors in my student career. Thanks for everything.
Good class and instructor
Awesome teacher who led me to explore sociology in a different view than I had ever before, wish there would be more clarity to as where our world is heading but guess that's life. Shoooooooots Angel
Angel Camacho has a lot of knowledge and understanding of teaching the course and he does it a helpful way for us students to understand. The class is interesting and makes you want to attend and learn a lot more.
Good class with many interesting discussions. To me that made it better than sitting in a lecture since I felt more involved with learning.
This was one of the best courses I've ever taken. Every part of the course was interested and helped me to think about our society in different ways. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in sociology
he was very difficult to reach via email. but i LOVE that we did something in the community instead of a final exam. i think that was a fantastic idea because we got to go out in society and see these theories and ideas and how they really do function. very applicable. he made a dry subject interesting. great teacher. great ideas. very passionate. really wants to make a difference
I've said it before because I had a previous class of his but Angel is easily the best professor I've had at this university. Challenges us to think critically of everything we receive and his classes have truly changed my life in the best way. Can't say enough good things about him
I would say that Angel Camacho is by far one of the best if not the best instructors I have ever had the privilege of having. His lectures were engaging and inspiring causing everyone to really think outside the box thinking critically about issues that we hope to change one day. With every lesson he provided us insight of what we thought the author might have been speaking about but he was also adamant in trying to get us to share and engage. On a day to day basis it was not just a single handful of people speaking over and over again, others in the class were willing to join the conversation and while we spoke of hard hitting issues, the environment was more than welcoming to discuss these ideas instead of attacking one another. While this may seem cliche I would stand by to say that this course, this instructor has changed my life. Not only has it gotten me to think critically about hard hitting issues which the general public often try to ignore, it has inspired me to take action even in the slightest bit to make a change. Also, in regards to the classroom dynamic, I think it speaks volumes when we have no lesson planed because a student fails to teach the class on their designated day which would mean that class should have been canceled, however, with a class vote everyone wanted to stay and have class, to have a discussion, really Angel had to come up with a lesson on the spot which worked out fantastically. Really the environment established in this class and the topics discussed, I would say that it really is the epitome of the college experience, to really learn to question everything we know, to think and understand others, and to figure out how to better ourselves and the rest of the world. Originally I took this course because it was a requirement but I am leaving pleasantly surprised and glad that by some random happenstance I decided to take this course. The only unfortunate aspect was that I took this in my final year here, had I experienced something like this prior, who knows what I might have done to make a difference throughout my undergrad.

Very good class, learned a lot, and is a great instructor
The one class I looked forward to going to.
Out of the six classes I am taking this one required the least amount of work (busy work) but I learned the most in this course and I learned stuff that I will actually remember after this course.
This course was amazing. It was entertaining and educational. I loved how it was very class discussion heavy and we could give our thoughts and opinions without being judged or laughed at. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone interested in sociology.
For the amount of writing/the quality of writing necessary to get a good grade in this class... well it should be a WI (writing intensive) for you nerds out there. But over all the course/teacher was great, it's easy to be involved in class, and participate when your teacher shows as much passion for a subject as Angel does. Made me want to read and respond to his hw assignments because the way he taught. Real good teach. Shooooots Angel
This was one of my favorite classes out of all my classes here at UH. Angel is a very engaging professor who really gets his students to think outside of the box and apply it to societal issues. The structure of this class worked well for me. Having to do a small reflection or summary on the readings every class period helped me be prepared for in-class discussions. And I think it was a good trade-off instead of doing an exam. I personally feel that I have better retained the information and material from this class. Excellent class!
One of the best courses i have taken.
He was an amazing teacher. He inspired to declare my major as Sociology!
awesome course, very interesting and covered cool topics
This was by far one of my favorite classes and Angel is now my favorite in the SOC department. He allowed me to be a more analytical and critical student and member of society. During my last semester his class was always a pleasure to go and I looked forward to it. I think the SOC department is very lucky to have him.
keep him teaching this class dammit!
Professor Camacho is a very understanding and very knowledgable professor. He makes his students use everything we have learned in sociology and apply it to the real world. I have nothing but respect for this professor. straight up a great guy

everything.
It was very eye opening to see how many of the problems in our society are interconnected. I think it is a good course because it exposed me to problems that I often never think about; it broadened my understanding of how society interacts and why certain problems occur and persist.
The course helped me realized myself as a person, who definitely has influence on society and issues.
The fact that Angel not only let us do readings as assignments but also showed/required us to watch various videos and documentaries. It kept the class interesting. And also, his friendly, easy going personality makes it easy to approach him about any questions or difficulties that came up during the course.
13. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
All the weekly readings.
n/a
In the second half of the semester, we covered so many different topics very quickly. It was a little jarring to be switching from topic to topic each week. I thought studying fewer topics in great depth was more effective; for example, spending 3 weeks on race and gender really highlighted the important information and helped me fully understand the topics and issues.

I think that Angel is/was a little too nice with our class, throughout the course he didn't rely on picking on students to talk about certain readings which left a lot of room for students who did not choose to speak to slide by.. some took advantage of his kindness. As his one of his students, it was very embarrassing for me to see an Honors class be frequently filled with silence during discussions. Angel should have the students talk more, maybe for a part of a participation grade, or to frequently test that his future students are engaged.

Be a little less bias towards certain people. I can tell there is favoritism in this class. I know there are some students that talk more than others, but I can tell by his reaction to some students responses that he looks down on them. If there are two students raising their hands, he would choose the a certain student over the other.

There was a lot of reading and it was difficult to keep up with it! I think it would be helpful to give us an idea of how we are doing in this class through Laulima or an email.

I really apologize for the disappointment our Honors class caused you this semester, and I hope Angel knows that he is an excellent professor that is both inspiring and relatable. He makes sociology more interesting than it already is and I hope to take his Pop Culture 400 level class in the near future! :)

showing up everyday helps.
I enjoyed our group discussion the most. It was interesting to hear the opinions held by my fellow classmates concerning the subject matter.
I think Angel's perspective as a conflict theorist made this class way better than I expected. Instead of exploring popular culture with its glitz and glamour, I was really challenged to look at how I engage with popular culture and how that impacts the world.
Every class he had something that you want to listen to.
Angel was extremely knowledgeable and very opinionated but would always tell us to take everything, even what he presented to us, with a grain of salt which made the whole class better sociologists in my opinion. I think he's the best sociology professor on staff. He presents us with information the way it is and not sugar coated which is very refreshing.

glad that its almost finished.
Overall, I enjoyed the course. It requires a lot of work from the student and requires that the student keep up with said work. This course involved many controversial ideas and I think he did a good job of being considerate to every students idea and opinion. I would suggest this class to all Sociology majors or minors.
The guy is a boss.
He knew just about everything even when students would present him with questions not in his presentations. A lot of the time he would help the class work through the answer requesting that a couple people would answer before he gave his opinion as well as multiple other popular opinions. Easily my favorite and most informative Sociology class I have and will ever take at UH. Angel is the best Sociology professor you have on staff.
Way to go man!
I really loved your class and learned a lot from it. I am definitely glad I took it and will recommend it to other guys on the team.
Best and most interesting professor I've ever had. Teaches with passion and knows what he's saying... I love it. So refreshing.
