4. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
she is understanding
She is very knowledgable in the field of early childhood education. She especially knows a lot about the theorists which I found very helpful and inspiring in this course. She instilled in me a desire to expand on my learning about them.
It was very hard trying to learn from Gaynel because she was unorganized and always started class late.
She gave us a lot of informational articles
I found that ms. Gaynel was very helpful but sometimes she was always going to fast with the lecture
She was overall understanding about assignments and accepted late assignments.
she is the most disorganized teacher at HCC
Nothing.
The information in the videos were very valuable. I like the classwork as a team. I learned a lot of things during this course, but I think I could of learned more if my instructor knew how to communicate with us. She is full of information but just lost her zest for teaching. We are here to learn, not just get the credit.
She is very knowledgeable, but VERY unorganized.
What I found most valuable and helpful about Mrs. Buxton was that she was there to answer any questions I had in class.

Handouts were old and were dated years past. Due dates would change regularly. Buxton seemed detached and uninterested in the actual classes. Over use of handouts that were never gone over. No study guide or information given for the final- only the unit study guide from the book.
would be better with projects spread out not all due at the end of the semester, also more then one final would be less stressful and more appreciated, so that your test grade isn't only on one exam
Gaynel was very receptive to any questions or problems I had. She was flexible and understanding. She had handouts pertaining to the course almost every week for us which I am grateful to have. She gave us a lot of great information.
There are many things that need to be improved on. As much as Gaynel knows the subject very well, her teachings really didn't interest me like my other ECED classes. She needs more work on organizational skills, time management and to actual care about her students. She cancelled class twice and we as students had to suffer by cramming all the projects and homework which was totally unfair to the whole class. Hopefully next semester she will be more prepared.
N/A
If some students have a hard time keeping up with the notes I reccomend not taking this class
she should teach classes online all she does is play movies. i felt i wasted my time every time i went to class
She is very disorganzied, and she is unclear when things are due, and she doesnt stick to her scheduling and is very disorganized in her teaching. She missed a few classes and piled the work on the students because she was gone.
I feel really bad for my instructor. Everyone in class expected more from her. She was not organized. She gave out handouts but never went over them all. We watched a lot of videos, but I could of watched those at home. Her due dates were scattered so the students were confused about due dates. she could never make up her mind. we were all confused most of this semester and used the resources in our other classes to complete 131 assignments. I wouldn't want to take a class from Gaynel again and would not recommend her to students. I don't think she really cares about teaching because she was very "whatever" about things. She is capable of teaching but I think she might be in a rut. maybe she should take a semester off to rehydrate her brain and learn how to truly inspire us to understand the subject matter.
She needs to update her assignment due dates to the current year and not 2003. She needs to have a better organization of her time. If she is going to be sick, get a sub so that the students are not confused or crammed for the next class. Assignments and projects should be worth more than just 16 points. Students work hard on assignments and projects, so we should get a lot more credit from them. Stop showing so many videos. Instead lecture, write notes on the board, and do more hands on activities. Stop with the selfies already.
During the semester there were many projects and assignments that were due. Although, it made me and some of my classmates confused as to what was due that week or the next week. There were no due dates, rubrics, grading scales and objectives that were expected of our work. This show that it made it hard for all of us to be on the same page when turning things in. Her syllabus that was given at the beginning of the year was a syllabus from a couple years ago and some of the dates weren't current, which made things even more complicated. She is a very passionate instructor but there is a lot of improvement when it comes to her lesson plan.

6. What did you like most about your online course experience?
I liked that the assignments were not too hard.
It has taught me a lot about managing my time.
Eveything
The videos were informative along with some of the assignments like Family Interview and Infant/Toddler site visit.
The convenience.
I didnt like anything about this class. I have take class before from Buxton but by far the worst class I have taken. She doesn't get back to you in a timely matter, never follows her own intruction's.
I liked the video viewing of each week.
Being able to converse with my classmates and see in plain text what they say and feel.
I was able to complete assignments at home.
I liked the quick response from Gaynel whenever I emailed her with questions. I also liked that I had a set group for the whole course, this made it easier to communicate and digest the information presented in the course.
That it is offered at a different campus besides my home campus.

9. Other comments:
This course was a little challenging due to lack of communication from teacher. The teacher also didn't understand what she wanted us to do. It was given to us but not thoroughly explained.
Really learned a lot
I feel like the assignments especially the major assignments were not spread out. There were 2 assignments back to back that I felt didn't have enough space between them. I also felt that the syllabus was really hard to follow and was hard to understand. The calendar did not match the assignments making it hard to understand what was due. Only after getting clarification from the professor was I able to understand what was due and where to go etc. I've taken many online classes and this has been the most difficult to follow and understand. For a 100 level class I also feel like the workload was harder than my UD 300-400 level classes. There was also double the work when we had to post our work in two different areas online. I didnt really understand the point for that.
I feel that when Gaynel Buxton should add page numbers of the readings.
I was confused when the assignment deadline extend at the last minuets since I submit all the assignment on time. Prof. Boxton haven't graded most of the assignment I turned in as of 4/28/15. So that I cannot see if I am doing OK with this class. I had hard time working on group project online. Some worked on hard and some didn't. I had to wait to edit the papers and handouts at the last minutes. Since most of the people who take online class are too busy to work on the assignment at the same pace, I really felt frustrated to discuss and working on with the group member online.
A lot of the assignments involved group contribution. I didn't like that I had to include the names of those who did nothing for an assignment that I and only one other group member did. I purposefully left them out but later read that, that was not acceptable. Also, if a group member drops the course I feel their name should be taken off as well so that the other remaining members can move forward in the course effectively.

Being a teacher/ caregiver is not the easiest thing in the world. Especially when you have 6 hours a week to get to know your children and develop all these skills, with the time amount given and the experience given it all was useful, every moment was a learning experience that I will take. The experience in the classroom helped so much especially during the interview ! thank you to all lab instructors this is the most memorable experience I had so far (tears)
Overall, I feel that this was the most valuable class in my progress towards my early childhood degree. Her experience and knowledge allowed me to grow as a new teacher, and has given me the opportunity to help provide families with the best care for their young children.

9. Comment on the instructor's concern for the students.
She was very helpful, she was there checked in with us as needed she has to be the best !
She is always available for questions or concerns either via email or in her office. She takes the time to really listen, and helps find ways to accommodate any special needs a student may have. She considers the work of each student individually, and is there to help in any way she can.
10. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the instructor?
She was very understanding and very motivating, to know she believed in each individual and never talked down but was so real made this a great experience.
Sharing her experience and knowledge allowed me to better myself as a future early childhood teacher, and will help me to provide the best care possible for a family's young child.
