13. What are the instructor's major strengths as a teacher?
She wants her students to succeed and is there to offer support anytime it is needed.
Professor Poggi was encouraging to us students and was always positive and happy. It made the atmosphere in the classroom setting very inviting and comfortable.
She is highly motivated and energetic. She is genuinely concerned for ALL of her students equally. She made herself readily available via cell phone, work phone, and email. She was like a 24 hour access line. She was always willing to help and encouraged us to contact her whenever we needed help.
She genuinely cared for students and created a learning environment conducive for success. Extremely knowledgeable about subject matter and very personable.
Ms. Poggi is very enthusiastic and energetic regarding the subject matter. She responds quickly to questions and is always willing to lend an ear to any issues and/or concerns. Ms. Poggi also has a wealth of experience from which she draws upon during her instruction of the course material.
She has an outgoing personality which makes her approachable. She encouraged students to contact her with any questions or concerns. The class was not taught out of a textbook, but through effective class exercises that were focused on improving interpersonal skills, professionalism, and being confident.
She is a very proactive person that brings a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
Enthusiasm! And always being accomodating.
She was very energetic and enthusiastic about this course.
Her enthusiasm is just so infectious! I loved her passion about being a paralegal and how she stressed the importance of professionalism in the workplace. However, she wasn't stuffy or grumpy about it, she has an amazing attitude and is a wonderful example/mentor/friend!
She cares about every one of us & she knows the paralegal world in and out
Kindness/Interest in every students/Helpfulness
14. What changes, if any, do you suggest to the instructor?
I think it is important to know how to interview and work ethics. However, for those who have never worked before, this process should be learned before the internship. Learning these skills at the same time as doing the internship is not as beneficial.
More time on resume building and interview preparations.
NONE, Theona is fabulous!* One of the best teachers I've had during my program.
I would suggest different recommendations for the different type of student. For example, I would recommend that a non-traditional student secure a sponsor before the semester starts as they have less time to commit to 144 hours than a full-time student.
The textbook is useful but it also covers content that may be self-evident. I found the hands on portions of class to be much more interesting and informative. I believe that more activities that emphasize class participation will be helpful.
Make the homework assignments easier to access & read. Did not like downloading it as a word document under Resources in Laulima, would have preferred having it posted under Assignments in the portal. The Drop Box could still have the other folders though.

Nothing! She is awesome as is.

I know this will sound crazy to most students, but having class every three weeks didn't feel like enough. I wish we had it every other week or even once a week.
15. How did the instructor show concern for students?
by email, in class
In one word... HUGS! She was always concerned about her students' well-being.
She made herself willing available as needed. She provided clarification as needed. She encouraged the students who did not have internships to keep pushing and trying. Through networking, these students were able to find internships.
She repeatedly emphasized that she could arrange extra time for students to meet outside of class, schedule appointments before/after class, or even talk online and over the phone if students had any questions/concerns at all.
Ms. Poggi responded quickly to questions both physically and through email. She is always available for communication and is prompt in replying quickly to any questions. She is open to advice and deals with any problems effectively and appropriately.
From Day 1 of the course she gave her cell number in case any students had questions or concerns about the class or assignments. She has met with students individually, spoken to them over the phone, and provided extra credit opportunities for everyone.
She always encourages us to submit our work and follows up with our sponsors to find out if we are doing ok at our site.
Through e-mail, on Laulima announcements, and during class when she lectures.
She was very approachable and was willing to answer any questions.
Every class she stressed that if we ever needed anything to contact her, for whatever reason. If we needed a shoulder to cry on, advice, anything! She is so accessible and really wants her students to succeed!
She was there for us not only during class hours but after hours. She got back to me so quickly and when i had a problem she helped me get through it every step of the way.
Always caring for students
