"Coaching" of real life skills as they relate to undergraduate project desihn and presentation
I thought the presentations during class were a good preparation for the real event. However, I wished there had been more workshops where we could conference with our peers to see what their progress is like.
Fabulous opportunity and guidance.
Oral presentations, poster projects, and written assignments
Lectures on the required structure of the thesis were helpful; the special guests and their advice were very inspiring
The most valuable part of this course was constructing the CV.
10. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Speech preparation - nonetheless it had merit
NA
Hard to get specific feedback since the topic of the thesis is one in which the instructor may not be able to really advise on specifically.
evaluations
Too much time on powerpoint presentations
I found that I did not really go over scientific research/writing/presenting since it is a mix of different majors.

23. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
This course seems to be well developed and is effective. I do not have any suggestions for improvement. Indirectly, if the University would adjust their buget to allow for "Honor's" office staff - the instructor could focus even more time on his students.
I wish there were more group activities because I think it would be good if everyone took an interest in each others' work so that we could become closer as peers and come to want to help each other succeed.
Less time spend on generalized"group help" and more time writing and editing! Better organized spaced out calendar.
Operationalizing of research questions should be learned earlier on in the course.
Follow more strictly to the schedule and if not, and if lectures have to be pushed back, due dates should too.
Separation of the majors more to make the class more specific will help the students exponentially more.

8. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
Having hands-on experience doing scientific research to be able to understand what it is all about.
The opportunity to experience what it's like to do graduate-level research.
The way in which this course was set-up was beneficial for independent research and composition. I was glad that there were no scheduled meeting times, which made it easier to conduct my research and compose my thesis on my own time, balancing the work with my other courses. In addition, the instructor correpsonded with us students via email to keep us motivated and to make sure we were on track with the class' demands.
9. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Reseach itself is very demanding, time consuming and not made for everyone.
The lack of direct instructor guidance.
Some aspects of the course requirements were not communicated to students in a timely fashion. For example, I was under the impression that the Fall Forum was scheduled for the Friday before final exams week, since that is what I was accustomed to. However, an email from an Honors staff member a few weeks ago noted that the Forum had been pushed forward one week, which forced me to rearrange obligations for other courses and personal matters. If not blatantly communicated via email, perhaps the Honors Program could post such important changes on its website earlier, or use UH's Laulima service to post announcements.

13. Comment on the instructor's professional attitude and behavior.
Very good, approachable and helpful.
Very positive and encouraging.
The instructor has always displayed a professional attitude when consulting with students. It is important to note that he is respectful of students and their ideas, yet also takes his roles as an administrator and advisor seriously.
14. Comment on the instructor's concern for the students.
showed concern for students and made concrete suggestions and plans to help with problems.
Very caring and concerned for the students.
Despite being swamped with various responsibilities, the instructor makes the time to counsel students when they have concerns. By balancing professionalism and congeniality, he shows genuine interest in students and their projects, and does his best to help when they need assistance.
15. What two or three single words best describe this instructor?
