26. How did the instructor show concern for students?
|
| He would answer question when asked. |
| He took the time to thoroughly explain each subject being covered and also
was able to answer all questions , even when he had just answered them and
was asked again. he is very knowledgeable in the subject we were studying. |
| He always answered emails and questions that were posted on the discussion board and was very helpful in giving tips to improve in his class. |
| I am unable to evaluate this as the class was online and there was no interaction between students
and teacher other than through laulima. |
| He told us not to take things too personally that others said and to respect each other. |
| This is an online course so there is no personal contact, but in the forum students ask questions
that pertain to the material we are suppose to learn and VERY rarely get a response back. Hardly
interacts with the online forum |
| By responding to posts on laulima. He explains both sides of the story in an argument. |
|
|
27. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?
|
| I enjoyed this online format, I was able to the reading in my own time through out the week and then respond to the discussion post. |
| His thoroughness in his explanations and the depth he can go in the subject. |
| Everything was great. The way it was set up it sought interaction between students. If an online discussion could be added it would make this course a more lively animated discussion group. |
| I liked the content and that David Sai insists on validation of information disseminated by both
himself and the students.
I didnʻt like that there was very little feedback on the weekly assignments. This made it difficult for
us to gauge our progress in the class. |
| I liked how he provoked questions in such a way that made students really have to think and understand in order to answer the correct way. |
| There is no interaction from the teacher. It is a class where you read the book and that is the only
information he wants to give and the book is super confusing. When other questions are asked
there is no response. |
| I liked: The knowledge and resources used to prove legal aspects. Uses his own dissertation and
research to study from.
I disliked: The fact that I could not dialog with him at moments notice upon doing assignments. |
|
|
28. What else would you like to say about this instructor?
|
| I would recommend this course to students that are actually here to learn something that was previously not really talked about openly. |
| I would like to see more course offerings taught by David Sai. I find his work interesting and
educational. |
| Wish we could have done a in class work shop or Huakaʻi. |
|
|
29. Would you recommend this instructor to other students? Why or why not?
|
| Yes, and I have already recommended him. |
| yes, good course and very knowledgeable. |
| Definitely would, I thoroughly enjoyed this class and the topics discussed in general. |
| I would recommend this class to others, who like me, need an online class. However, I do not think
this is a course for incoming freshman nor for those who can take a regularly scheduled class.
Keeping up with the reading and assignments in an online course like this can be time consuming
and time challenging. If you are not good with time management or an independent learner, this is
not the course for you. |
| I would recommend him to other students because I learned so much from him. |
| NO!!! Not enough interaction |
| Yes, because he is very dynamic in his teachings and very knowledgeable in what he knows. If
anyone is interested in the truth about the Hawaiian Kingdomd, Kumu Sai is the person to see. |
|
|
30. Other comments:
|
| It was unclear as to whether the discussion posts were graded. They were manadatory but were not included to the grad break down in the syallbus. |
| I LOVED THE Class - teacher was excellent and I learned alot about Hawaiian culture. |
| I think this course and the specific contents of David Saiʻs course should be a mandatory core
requirement for all UH students. I think all Hawaiian Studies 107 courses should contain the same
information that David Saiʻs course contains. The truth of the illegal overthrow and the continuation
of the U.S. illegal occupation of our Kingdom will not be widespread nor will the U.S. be forced to
concede their defeat and leave our Kingdom until the masses (both Hawaiian, American and other
foreign nationals) know the truth. It all starts with education and an institute like the University of
Hawaiʻi is responsible for educating the people with the truth. |
