| The outdoor field trip to Ho'omaluhia was fun. I also liked that we got to paint for 3 hrs in class. |
| I liked being able to express ourselves individually without fear of ridicule. For our home
assignments we were free to do the work in our own way with our own style |
| being able to work in class and yet get help from other students as well as the teacher if i was
having trouble understanding how to use a certain painting technique. and if i was getting
frustrated, mrs.horne would still compliment my work and help me figure out a way to improve
myself. |

| The in class assignments |
| In my previous experience with art classes, the teacher would dictate us
and tell us how to do our art and what to make.
Rebecca Horne allowed us to work more freely, allowing us to explore water
painting on our own and allowing us to discover our own techniques. She had
also introduced us to other techniques of painting that we may or may have
incorporated into our work through out the semester.
She had introduced us to other painters through out the times, showing us
their work and what their known for. She would talk to us about their
inspirations and their techniques in the hopes of inspiring us to perhaps
make works similar to these artists.
Mrs. Horne, though she did tell us what to paint, she gave us a broad area
of still life in class and we got to choose what we wanted to paint from
there. She gives us broad themes, and left it to us to narrow it down to
what exactly we want to do in class and in our homework assignments. |

| There was a lot of techniques required to produce a decent piece. |

| Although I enjoyed painting, getting familiar with old and new techniques,
and we had ALOT of time to paint and speak our minds if we had a question
or something to discuss about the class, I felt that perhaps our instructor
could maybe be a little bit more involved in our activities although it is
understandable if she has other works to attend to.
It would have been interesting seeing her take on some of our assignments
like with some of the still life we had to do. Though we have seen her work
when we would go outside of the class and paint buildings, trees, or other
forms of nature, it would have been interesting watching how she would
approach it and see her methods and techniques first hand. |

| The instructor has a vast knowledge of the subject matter and the class is fun and challenging |
| Personally, it has been ages since I have been in an art class such as this
one. I chose to stay away from them for the longest time because of my
previous experiences with them.
However, I am happy to say that I enjoyed this course very much. Not only
have I enjoyed learning about water painting but I have also managed to
befriend many of my own class mates. |

instead of having only the class kit. it would also help if we had a little more class time to work on

Always willing to teach the students step by step, and also had the patients for the students who were really struggling in this class. Our class became really close because we were so open with sharing our thoughts about all of our drawings. |
| I really liked working with different materials. I got to experience working with mediums that I had never used before, and I was good at it. The medium made all the difference. I was interested in learning new techniques for more successful drawing and I did learn them 100% to my ability. |

weekly 'group disscussions' and critiques. Soft spoken people don't stand a chance in terms
of participation. She would assign multiple hour assignments with little notice over the
weekends. This is not fair to students woth weekend work schedules. It would have been
nicer to get such time consuming assignments at least a week in advance. |

| I think one way the class could be improved is that there should be a sign next to the still lives stating something like "please do not touch the still life" or "please do not move the still life" so that the other art classes know whether the materials are still being in use. Or Ms. Horne could just remind each art class that the other art classes still needs the still life. |

find the assignment boring we won't put a lot of effort into it. If we are excited about a project will
we will really hard. |

| By the end of the semester, the class felt like a family. Rebecca Horne is very approachable and easy to talk to. She strives to always have her students reach for their full potential. |

| Sometimes it is really hard to flip a switch in your brain and just be in the mood to draw simply because it is 10 am on Tuesday, however, Ms. Horne gave great suggestions on how to overcome that. |

| My instructor allowed me to solve problems with my understanding of theories and concepts. She
then gave advice on how to improve on my projects. Finally, she would then ask me if there is
anything I could do to improve my piece. The reason being was to push the boundaries of what I
already know. This is a challenge that I believe every instructor should present to every student. |

| 1.) My instructor allowed me to solve problems with my understanding of theories and concepts.
She then gave advice on how to improve on my projects. Finally, she would then ask me if there is
anything I could do to improve my piece. The reason being was to push the boundaries of what I
already know. This is a challenge that I believe every instructor should present to every student.
