I like how she links the topics that seem so far away to our every day lives, it helps bring it to a level we can connect to rather than something we would have to memorize out of a text book. well done
I liked the course as it brought new understanding to the way decisions are made regarding resources and how their effects are felt in so many aspects of the world.
This was a very interesting class and I enjoyed taking it.
Really interesting class lectures, great real life applications and examples of concepts discussed in class. Funny and animated professor! I really enjoyed this class. For the rest of my life, I will always remember the law of diminishing returns when I buy oreos from the store. Thanks Dr. Cox.
Professor Cox is an amazing professor that has encouraged me to pursue a specialization in economics. I appreciate Professor Cox's interest in the subject and ability to help her students understand the content that is expected of this class. She definitely does not ask us to know more than what is need and I definitely feel as if my time in this class was effectively used.
Although most of the time they are helpful, it is sometimes difficult to see the clear relationship between personal narratives and economic theories. Perhaps tie the narratives back a little more to the economic jargon so students can reiterate these points in free response test questions.
Professor Cox was very passionate when teaching this course. I think her expectations were reasonable, and was very clear in her instruction. She gives a well rounded explanation, and is not limited to her own opinion. I am very glad that I enrolled in this class with Linda.
She's always willing to answer questions and makes sure we grasp the information before we move on.
She was always available to meet and was willing to work with students on anything that wasn't understood.
Professor Linda Cox makes the class interesting and gets the students to be more proactive in their education. I like how she keeps us on our toes with "pop" quizzes to keep us abreast in our chapter readings. Thanks Professor Cox for an delightful semester!
Good teacher. Great examples. Very effective way of relating economics to real world situations.
Great professor I will never forget things she has taught in class, extremely valuable information that I will use the rest of my life.
I like Linda's way of talking to the class in a seemingly conversational tone instead of a lecture and relating things that involve our everyday lives to what we were learning.
I prefer to have homework for this kind of class. I mean just reading the material makes me confused. I feel like if she were to give us homework to do the class will be understandable. She's a good teacher. Her tests is unfair because when we talk about a certain term and that we give her the definition she stills marks you off wrong when you are talking about the same word. More extra credit opportunities.
Really liked certain students which was nice, but could tell that she wasn't very fond of the rest and failed to respond respectfully to legitimate questions without a negative remark....
Great instructor that engages class participation and explains the concepts and theories clearly and what is expected to be learned from the class.
Being an athlete, Professor Cox was very understanding and available to meet outside of class times.
I really enjoyed taking this class by Professor Cox. Although my grade was drastically harmed by her pop quizzes that were supposed to "help" us, I really can't blame anyone other than myself for that. This professor makes it very, very obvious what she wants from us - from her makeup exam, to her exam review sessions, she tries really hard to get us to pass. I really appreciated that. And although class can seem to drag (we spend so much time on very few ideas) her stories are usually fun to listen to.
Professor Linda is excellent at relating things that may be difficult to understand, into everyday life situations. She definitely knows what shes talking about. The only thing that id suggest is that she be a little better at answering questions. Sometimes when people would ask questions, she would answer them a bit condescendingly. It made people afraid to speak up at times, in my opinion.
She managed to make a course that could be boring extremely interesting. Her examples where one of the best parts of the course. She really cares about the subject and will give you her full attention and more if you ask. She also tries very hard to help her students succeed. She is a great teacher and I would recommend her to anyone.
One of the best teachers I have had. Very enthusiastic and funny during classes
Great professor with exceptional knowledge of subject area. Very enthusiastic.
Very personable and convinced me economics may just be worth pursuing.

Love the course. It wasn't a stressful course yet the material was very applicable to daily life and for the future. I was a very fun and interesting class. I enjoyed that each student gave presentations and that there was a lot of in class activities that we had to do. This class really taught me a lot about my academic career and direction as well as helped me in my personal life. I enjoyed how the Professor made students think with out obligation and really listened to the students and their needs. I also liked how this class was non threating and it was easy to engage in conversation with the professor and other students. I liked the mock environmental trails. It really taught me how to think in a different way. I also enjoyed how the professor made us think all the time without feeling dumb or left out. This was a very thoughtful class and engaging. Mahalo for making this course awesome. I can use many of the things taught in this course in my personal and academic career.
One of my favorite courses this semester. Good practice of real world scenarios, especially explaining the dynamics of a typical community based meeting.
Community-styled class lecture promoted changes in behavioral patterns to practice in class, then to apply outside of class. I enjoyed the "backwards" styled class lecture. This experience allows for changes in perspectives and learning outcomes. Activities helped students to implement class knowledge. I enjoyed this learning experience. Thank you very much Professor Cox.
Great class. I feel like I learned a lot of invaluable skills and even had the opportunity to practice them in class and see real life applications. This class really opened my eyes to the conflicts that exist in real life community resource management.
Great classroom activities and unconventional teaching methods demonstrate community management methods first hand. Really good experience.
Kumu Cox is an awesome instructor. This class was not the average class you are used to walking into on your academic journey at UH Manoa. We were treated as equals and always felt comfortable to voice our opinions. I felt like I made connections and was able to critically think with my classmates. Cox really created a community within our classroom where we discussed real life scenarios that involve natural resource management in the community. I would recommend this class to people! I made and honest effort to apply myself and know the material...Cox raised awareness and allowed us to think outside of the box!
Dr. Cox is an exceptional teacher who is very passionate in what she teaches. She presents many perspectives on how to approach a situation in the community management. Her way of communication in class lectures and discussions are always engaging and makes us students really think. This NREM 420 class was extremely helpful to improve as an effective contributor to society.
Such an awesome class! I have learned so much raw knowledge from just coming and listening to your lectures. Whats more, I learned to feel comfortable in a class setting! I really want to create the same atmosphere you created for us, in all classes I take. Thank you for being so amazing!!!!
I would like to say that Linda Cox has been the absolute best instructor that I have had in my 5 year collegiate career. She has a different approach to teaching that really gets the class involved and this was one class that I would have hated to miss.
Good course, fun teacher, felt like a community, made friends, learned a lot. More discussion would be nice (she talks a lot!)
One of the most useful and applicable courses I have taken at UH Manoa. The course greatly affected my day to day life, by improving my personal interaction and relationships with others as well as my interaction and burden on the environment around me. I became much more comfortable as well as much more efficient within group dynamics. The course brought awareness and knowledge to many aspects of sustainable communities that I had no clue existed prior to taking the course. This course is invaluable to the way I will approach the rest of my life! The way it is taught encourages a group dynamic that makes everybody comfortable, which, in my personale experience was the most effective means of teaching I have been a part of throughout my academic career.
