8. Which aspects of the course were most valuable?
The exercises and assignments were really valuable in the process of determining a project topic. The workload really forces you to focus your interests, which is really necessary in the process.
one of the most valuable courses ive taken so far in architecture school
doing the presentation towards the end that helped to prep us for our first commitee review.
Useful to learn the different research methods/techniques. Exercises were helpful in understanding each method. Guest speakers were informative.
Helped me narrow down my project proposal. Framed my research design.
The preparation management for writing our disertation
getting my d arch proposal going. learning about different methods of conducting research. Maggie is excited about the subject she is teaching and very knowledgable about it.
the details of the research methods
Do the exercises and assignments. They were difficult, but they really made you think about your topic.
Imparted knowledge to help me drill down my doctorate project subject.
9. Which aspects of the course were least valuable?
Some of the exercises were a bit strange (like the gamma map), but it was something different. Not sure how much it applies to research.
that its only one semester

Amy Anderson had a class before ours and she always ran about 10 minutes into our class time. we were always waiting outside for her class to finish up. Even when we came into class to sit down and maggie came in to get ready Amy ignored us. Then maggie would go at least 15 minutes over time for our class. This was really annoying as i have a class that takes place right after this one. This was not an occasional problem it was a chronic problem that happened almost every class. Maggie is an excellent teacher, but she needs to stop talking when her time is up! Amy needs to respect the class time limits as well.

The instructor had first-hand experience of writing a disertation
She knew her subject and had was enthusiastic about it.
she is always excited to be in class

23. Please list your suggestions for improving the course and/or the instructor's teaching style and methods.
Maybe have guest speakers come in or previous doctorate graduates and share with us about their process and how it was for the.
Instructor could spend more time discussing each individual's topic (more feedback)
This class could be a once a week class. Need more time per class meeting to describe certain aspects. We seemed to have went passed our time alotment more often then none.
Engage more with students in participating in discussion, hence it is a seminar so be more effective in conducting it as a seminar class
everything is fine, just finish on time!
need more relevant examples for the different research methods
And more images to the powerpoints and have more guest speakers. I found that the guest speaker were very knowledgable and helpfuul. Maybe some group discussion because I was able to get a lot of good ideas and thoughts from what they thought about my topic.

30. My overall evaluation of this course is...
VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
I like this course. I think it should be pass or no pass and not graded.
Maybe there can be more variety of reading material.
This was a good course in that it prepares me for my writing of my disertation
very good and helpful for my future studies
GOOD
Take this class early in graduate study to help guide your doctorate project.
31. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.
More guest speakers field trips not so much lecturing but more hands on class time

get rid of the textbook, absolutely useless
Amy and Maggie need to learn how to stop at the end of their class time.
more student interaction
Scale back the powerpoints to be a summation, too much text, enough to review the book and add new points
