17. Other comments:
|
| This course really opened my mind up to new ideas and concepts. I wasn't too
invested into politics or religion, but there were a lot of things that came
up in class that made me think, and even bring up some of these topics with
people outside of class, like friends and family. It was a very interesting
class! |
| Instead of just focusing on the US, I wish we could have looked at how the
current situation is in other countries. For example, looking at abortion
rights (or lack there of) in Ireland (since they are more strict than the
US), and looking at the effects of that (a lady recently died from a
miscarriage). |
| Prof. Hadfield was extremely left and portrayed only the right as being ignorant and selfish.
That only serves to seed ignorant support for the left. I think he did that on purpose because
he is no idiot and he knows we are easily influenced. Pulled a Michael Moore on us, basically.
I agreed with his positions on most of the issues we discussed, but I felt that most of the
discussions were very shallow and very directive. Also, I rarely agreed with his claimed
reasonings for supporting these issues. He also clearly has a lot of animosity towards the
right and therefore it appears that his positions were somewhat emotion-based. |
| When I took zoology seminar, I thought we would be learning more about zoology. So far we have covered mostly political issues on non Zoology issues. Science issues yes, but not the class that was outlined in the course description provided by the school. Class should be called seminar in how politics affects science |
| Great class! My favorite this semester :) |
