| Learning the different schools of mediation and being able to identify the differences. Learning how to handle difficult people. |

| I found the videos of actual mediations to be very helpful. Mediation is such an abstract concept
since I haven't been in one. Being able to see what one looks like helped me formulate an idea of
what a session that I execute would look like. I also enjoyed the hypothetical scenarios that we
worked on in class. |
| I am glad that I have taken this course as one of my elective. I could
learned a lot of techniques and ways of handling various situation and people
which are definite to encounter in our lives. Professor Lou was very serious
about his class and did not waste even a minute. He made the best use of the
time and gave us his best. I am so thankful to him and wish him good luck in
his career. |

| Lou Chang is a pleasant man, however his speech pace is very slow which makes it hard to pay attention. The lecture material is pertinent, it's just delivered painfully slow. |

| This class was really helpful and interesting to me. The only comments I would have is to work on the "Great Questions" assignment in class since a lot of students were confused about it.
Also, I know I'm doing well in the class, but I really haven't heard anything about my grade the whole semester. I don't look at this as a bad thing personally; I feel it allows me to focus on the material rather than my grade. Other students may feel confused though.

| I think that although the journals can be useful for us to organize our thoughts they can be rather tedious for a graduate level class. It would be better to assign journals for every other week or for readings that the instructor feels the students may find difficult. Submitting journals became less of a tool for understanding the material and more of a burden towards the end of the semester. |
| The weekly journal entry got to be tedious after a while. I would suggest capping it at 5-7 journal entries throughout the semester, and request that students pick a particularly inspirational week to reflect on. Also, more fishbowl mediation exercises would have been great. Lastly, the syllabus was confusing because it was too detailed (i.e. it included info about the plan for the class that we didn't really need to know). I would suggest only putting info about the upcoming class that pertains to what students need to do to prepare for it before that class (other than doing the readings). |

was was great. He invited the class to a talk at The Supreme court conference
room to meet one of the top mediators in the country, gain experience and
valuable information that we will not only utilize in our careers but in our
personal, intimate and professional life's as well. I wish there were a
continual upper level class I would take it...well done Mr. Lou Chang it is
not often you meet a professor that cares about the students equally, enjoy
their job and is very knowledgeable in their field. |

| EXCELLENT!!!! he allowed students to have a opinion. Challenged us to think.
Didn't get upset if we we gave a wrong answer,simple allowed student to
explain why or how they came to that conclusion. Made us think outside the
box and look for the most durable solution. Very calm neutral instructor. Oh
I forgot he doesn't like aggressive students try to make you calm like him. |

| The course seemed a bit short on time (number of weeks). |
| The amount of work I had to do this session compared to the last session
class made this course seemed a lot longer than it really was. I'm glad I
took this in six weeks but it may have been interesting for the full
semester. |
