17. What did you like most about your online course experience?

I liked that the quizzes given matched up with the study guide questions. the flexability the book. I liked how up to date it was with examples the flexibility and the fact that the due dates were clear. Overall the class was really great, I liked the whole curriculum. Reading from the text book was not that bad, but the slides she made really helped a lot. Furthermore, I love the documentaries she put up and movies to explain the text book terms and real life examples. This class was fun. I like that we are free to express our ideas on topics without any criticism or insult from the teacher or other students. What I liked most about my online course experience was that it was well structured and laid out. The flexibility of the schedule made it a lot easier to get things done. Also the teacher was easy to talk with and was very knowledgeable about all subject matters. It made learning a lot more fun. The writing assignments. A lot of times her questions made me think, before expressing about what I wanted to write about. That was the best thing she did for me, made me think about her challenging questions before answering them. I liked the ability to have two different forums, one sharing opinions with the other class members, and the other was between the instructor and the student. I was able to reveal things to another person that I usually do not talk about and felt comfortable enough to do so. I also was able to take a look at myself and realize that I have opened myself up to new ways of thinking. I have totally enjoyed this course and highly recommend that others take this course with this instructor. She rocks! The test was 20 questions long and gave me enough time to complete it with my complete thought, unlike my other online class which was 50 questions and I only had 1 hour to complete it... N/A pretty straight forward the flexibility with due dates Our ability to speak our mind, and not get knocked down for it. I like the overall learning experience. This is not my field of study, but the course was interesting. I thought it would all be independent, but I really enjoyed that it was very proactive with the other students in my class. Online courses are very convenient. Course outline was straight forward. I was able to take this course and not have it interfere with my work schedule Reading others posts. I've learned about social change, and to explore the issues surrounding our social problems such as drug abuse, and crime. Reading different thoughts and ideas of people is a wonderful thing. The fact that every one engaged one another in conversations and replies. did not need to go into class The flexibility in the schedule is definitely the most attractive part of the online course. A surprise was how forthcoming people are about their lives when they can speak from a more anonymous voice. In some ways this course was more on my mind throughout the week than my regular class courses. The lessons were interesting, teacher was helpful and the class was amazing. i liked how we were given until Sunday to finish any work we needed to submit and that the assignments were related to whatever the reading we were suppose to do in the book. also the quizzes there were no trick questions or anything like that only things that Mrs.P let us know what we should know from the reading. The convenience of being able to study whereever I want to....work, home,.... and the flexibility it gave me to study. My life is very hectic, working 40 hrs a week, I have my young niece and her 3 children all 2 and under living with me so online courses REALLY, REALLY helped me to be able to attend school while taking care of my other priorities. The online course experience is just as good as being in the classroom, depending on the instructor, Mrs. Bopp is a great teacher and I loved the way she structured her online class because she made it interesting and she made you think....use your brain. I can't say the same thing for my other online course...yikes..! I enjoyed the interaction with the other students and Prof. Bopp conversed with us very frequently and pushed us to expand our views and look at things objectively. I liked the flexibility of it. Being able to do the homework and discussions in my own time. I liked it because you could do the work at your own pace and I hadd the flexibility to read and do the assignments on my time schedule even though there were due dates The subjects and topics that were discussed was very interesting and it made me want to learn and you had a unique way of responding to our discussion board that it made everyone want to participate in the discussion and put forth their opinion without being judged. I liked reading everyone else's post and it made me think further because everyone's opinion and their interpretation of things are different. I liked everything about this course!! Mrs. Bopp gives great input and her assignments were very interesting and they really caught my attention! The video's she provided were also very helpful!! I will be looking to see if Mrs. Bopp teaches other courses!! That Prof. Bopp is very inderstanding, personable, helpful, and fun! What I liked most is that all the assignments were clear and understandable. The deadlines were fair and the amount of work pertaining to those deadlines was a reasonable amount too. I liked how there were different ways to learn about topics such as videos, audio, using the textbook, and powerpoints. Flexibility of the class the flexibility Specifically with this course i really enjoyed conversing with my classmates in our discussions. I really enjoyed the clarity of the syllabus/schedule as well as the assignments. I knew exactly what was expected of me from the first day of class, and this helped me plan my schedule and complete my assignments and exams with ease. I also thought that the class discussions were extremely interesting, and they allowed me to see different points of view instead of just thinking about my own perspective.

18. What did you like least about your online course experience?

no dislikes. not being able to have your questions answered as soon as you ask like the way they would in the classroom n/a I personally had a problem with keeping up. It wasn't because the teacher overloaded us with work or was really that difficult.I personally have a hard time remembering to look at laulima because it's my only online class. Other than that the class was great. I didn't like that it wasn't conversations being held but single replies. Something I feel would have been good in a classroom. nothing. I would have to say waiting for others to post in discussion before making a comment. It would have been easier if comments were due after the discussion of the original posts. The on-line discussions. I'm not a person that likes to slam people or write as if I was a know-it-all. Sometimes I felt like an ass, because of the way I felt about certain things. Sometimes I chose not to comment on other people comments. I don't think the world is perfect, but I understood what she was trying to do. This thinking out of the box is something I needed and yet the whole process sometimes felt very painful. I really don't think there was anything to dislike. This was a totally positive experience and can't wait to suggest this course and instructor to others. We would have reading responses and discussions but it wouldn't show that we had discussions in the future in the grading book....needs to update.. N/A nothing realy multiple chat responses needed n/a n/a. I would have liked to sit in a class for some of these discussions. Course outline and the requirements were not followed by teacher or students. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but should respond in a respective manner which teacher and student did not. There were a few posts that I made which the student and teacher blatantly disrespected and thought it was funny. N/A Nothing. I don't understand some of the theories when I read the book. sometimes it's hard to keep track once u fall behind... nothing I missed seeing the faces(or even pictures) of my classmates. Like a lot of my courses, I feel like we pack too much(really good) information into too little time. I feel like we rush through it all a little bit. I would like to see more time to let all that information breathe and maybe even pick some of it up for a second or deeper conversation. The least experience is the deadlines it was kind of hard to turn in assignments when you work full time. But i managed it. nothing i was a little nervous taking my first online course because i learn better being taught in person, i guess the least thing i would say i didn't like would be that when getting my assignments back and reading the comments left if i didn't understand what she was saying i could just go and talk to her right then and there unlike being in a classroom. nothing....though I really wish there were more online courses available! There wasn't really anything not to like...the only "uncomfortable" part of the class was it made me think about my past quite a bit. The lack of interaction. I feel like a lot of the discussion would be more interesting in a face-to-face class. I guess the not having the interaction of being in class and really talking face to face with everyone because in person you get to see a person's expression when having a live discussion and they are giving their personal opinion or experience about a certain topic. Plus you get to know your peers a little better in a class and not just a face and a name. Honestly, I liked everything about this class. Maybe just adding the discussion's into the grade book. The grade book was were I looked to remind me when assignments were due. Other than that, I really enjoyed this class!! Class discussions. There was nothing really that i least liked about the course. If anything I think it would be the fact that I couldn't work as far ahead as I wanted to. nothing The one thing i didnt like about our online course is that it is very unclear in how the gradebook is setup. - Nothing - Everything was wonderful!

19. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

I'm satisfied with the course and how it's taught. i dont see the need for any improvement in this class I really liked this course. I am not sure how it could be improved. But I do feel like I would have benefited greater from taking this course on campus instead of online it was perfect! I don't think there is much to improve on. Though I suggest that one of the video links used a website where you needed to make an account. Perhaps maybe finding another alternative video would be helpful. More participation from the students to have conversations rather than just single responses. This already a great course overall. I thought this class was taught in a well manor. I don't know how it could have been better. I am sure there is always room for improvements, and the only one I would like to suggest is that since we are all in college, I would expect better grammar and spelling from the students submitting their work. If you graduated from high school, and passed English 100, then you should be able to spell and know how to construct sentences. We shouldn't be graded on the syllabus quiz....I had a really good excuse as to why I missed it, and contacting the teacher was not helpful because she sounded disrespectful and always tried to reason with whatever I had to say. N/A more organized I'm not sure. I feel this course is great how it is n/a. With everyone having an open mind. (If unbiased is possible) No need N/A. I really enjoyed to watch documentaries and interview that Ms. Bopp gave us in this course. I hope that we can have more interesting documentaries and interview that can help students to improve their knowledge. Audio reading so that you could follow through with the instructor on the slides... make it more interesting/fun First off, I would like to state that the course was excellent! From there, I would say just stay open to change and the natural evolution of where the students want to take it. Anything that could improve more back and forth dialogue would help. The minimum requirement for a discussion board post was 100-150 words and two post were required. In an effort to meet that requirement, i didn't always feel free to interact in a more casual way with classmates and their post. And if I did, it was unclear if that was counting towards my participation. Their were nothing that could be improved. i can't think of anyway the course can be improved, the martial sometimes hard to understand but if you take the time to do the reading for the week the assignments are not super hard, and they require to take some time to think about it before you start to answer. The online class is organized well. I do not think there is much more than can be improved. I just wish that I took the class face to face. I think that everyone should make a profile for themselves and put a photo up so you know what they look like and you not only reading post from a faceless name. I didn't put one up because I didn't know how to do it. I think having a photo of everyone should make the course more personal and maybe have a connection with the discussion posts. Like I stated earlier, just to put the discussion's into the grade book area. That's it. There is nothing that I would change about improving this course. I feel that how it is right now is fine. Sometimes links to the videos from itunes wouldn't work or would freeze and take a while to load. Other than that I dont think the course really needs to be improved. N/A As far as the course goes i believe that it is a really good class. If it is not broke - don't fix it! This course is perfect just the way it is.

n/a Totally recommend this class. Don't change anything and thank you for a very open and great learning experience this semester. Professor Bopp is a very wonderful teacher. She makes class learning interesting with video as well as good notes. Her examples using life experiences make the course easier to understand and a fun one to take. Her teaching material I thought was very good. I didn't know what sociology was until I took her course. Her videos, reading material, etc., was everything what the course is all about. I would recommend her to anyone who is interested in taking Sociology. She actually made me think of taking more Sociology courses. Thank you Professor Bopp for giving us the leeway to express ourselves without feeling small or guilty. You are like a breath of fresh air and the concern you displayed throughout this semester is greatly appreciated. N/A I really enjoyed taking this class because professor Bopp made it a easy learning experience by providing notes and videos. Excellent Instructor! Patricia Bopp is a good instructor. There are just a few things that need to change. As a teacher, being open minded is required. There are like 20-30 students and we all have a different perspective, this is sociology. However, I felt that some posts were badgering and was not called upon by the instructor. Overall, she had a good outline, stuck with it, & I learned a lot from a sociologists perspective. This course is very interesting, and I would recommend my friends to take this class with Ms. Bopp. N/A n/a I was really impressed with this online course. P. Bopp was one of my favorite instructors. Her life experience and present dedication really shines through. The course was interesting and I really learned alot about my world, about people, society, myself and about underlying currents that often go unnoticed. i had a great experience for my first online class I enjoyed this class thoroughly and I feel that I'm finishing this course with a better understanding of people and society. I have a better understanding and a wider perspective on things that I previously didn't. I now have a new love for Sociology and plan on minoring in it! Professor Bopp is probably the best teacher I have had for a class at LCC. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and would take another from her in a heartbeat! She was understanding and interesting and made me step outside my comfort zones. Professor Bopp seems like a very interesting professor and would be a lot of fun in class. I thought I would have a difficult time with this online course because it would deal with topics of different societies and the interactions with other cultures. Surprisingly it was very interesting because of the topics that were discussed it made me want to learn more. It was enlightening to read everyone's post on the discussion board because everyone had some experience that they would share. I would gladly take another course of yours whether it be online or in class. I like your style and because of that no one is afraid to share their really intimate experiences and you don't hold anything back either when you respond to post. Thank you so much Professor Bopp for making this course a very rewarding and challenging experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Learning about ascribed statuses and the racial discrimination that is still present today. the way in which it made me rethink my life experiences. This course has allowed me to see how I have been a part of several groups --- dominant majority and racial minority --- and how I have affected as a result. applying sociological perspectives into the real world. learning that most people have different perspectives and thats why they do or think the way they do. the topics and movies about social problems we discussed Interesting discussions with class. The debates we had The videos that I watched during this course and my responses in the Discussions. the importance and relativity of sociology in my life The class discussions and the videos we watched for them. They were the most insightful. the videos that were watched teaching us about different cultures! some socioligical perspectives may be useful for my life. learning about why people act the way they do how to think sociologically. remembering how each aspect of a society is influenced by a lot of environmental factors as well as social factors in general The structure and how involved the teacher was for an online course.

17. What did you like most about your online course experience?

The flexibility was the greatest part of my enjoyment of this class. I really appreciated the opportunity that we had to make such good use of chat and discussion. I have taken many online classes and most do not make use of the chat and discussion tools. Dialogue with my fellow classmates and Prof. Bopp helped to clarify some of the material and provided me with fresh perspectives and insight. I liked how the reading response questions were not too easy and yet not too hard to respond to. You had to do the assignments and read the chapters, but it wasn't to the point where you felt hopeless and overwhelmed. I also enjoyed the discussion posts and agreeing or disagreeing with my peers. It put me in their shoes and made me look from another point of view. For this class the whole class was very active in communicating with each other. The teacher made us interact with one another and it helped in seeing how people can all think different. everything I say or share with my classmates I have time to think and analyse before I post. It was very interesting to learn and discuss about social problems from different point of view. No problems. How easy it was to have a discussion over multiple days The board posts and online conversations! I really liked the videos that related to the material learned in class and I also liked the Discussions you had us participate in because it made us use critical thinking. the flexability The class discussions, and the flexibility. the videos we watched because LCC didn't have in class SOC100 this semester. learning about all the different ways that other cultures do things. The discussions actually help puts me in the right perspective for each concept presented The interaction we had with the other students, even though we were all in different places.

18. What did you like least about your online course experience?

There was really nothing that i did not like about this class. It was a great first experience of an online class. I had a little trouble downloading some of the videos on itunes-u. It was frustrating for me but definitely worthwhile once I was able to watch the videos. They were well selected and good additions to the text. There was nothing I disliked about this course. Online courses usually are more intense, its a lot of work. Overloaded in short time, have hard time to watch movies on Utunes, in fact I watched through youtube or other source Missed the feeling of being in a physical classroom. However, I chose the online option for the convenience so this is not really a negative point. Nothing really That we had 2 days where assignments were due. But I guess that's because this is only a 6 week course. n/a Classmates wait until the last minute to post in discussion boards, making it hard to post the minimum replies for full credit. the assignments some online course let us to self pace assignment. we covered a lot of information in 6 weeks...a little too fast for my taste. Everything was perfect.

The only way i can see this course be improved is more discussions. They made life so much easier and with more communication between students this will only get easier as some people are gun shy to post. Perhaps some easier way to download and view the videos would be helpful. I feel that nothing needs to be improved. I learned a lot and really enjoyed taking this course. overall i think this class did well. i dont see in area that needs improvement. I don't know how it can be improved. This is an online course, as long as students understand that there should be no problems. Professor Bopp is very quick to answer any questions by email, definitely within 24 hours. It seems fine as it is Maybe elaborate more on how some pictures you use in your power points relate to the material learned. Some were a little confusing but I guess it's because you elaborate on it more in your lecture class and less in an online class. This course would be more enjoyable if it was not a summer class. although this class is great the way it is. If anything, to improve this class the class material online should be easier to access. I really liked this course. I recommend it to everyone. There is nothing that I would change. No improvements perfect nothing really. the class was overall a good class. There is no need for improvement. Ms. Bopp was very clear and accurate with everything. She was very interactive and listened when i had trouble.

17. What did you like most about your online course experience?

Flexibility of schedule and no set time of class but whenever the student is free to complete assignments at a reasonable time. I also enjoy the fact that I dont have to go to school and reserve certain times to drive to class. Flexibility. It allowed me to participate while I was traveling in the mainland. Everything! I do wish that I took this class in person instead of online. I enjoy discussions very much, but Im always wondering after an online discussion about how much more interesting it would have been if we discussed the topic in person. Maybe there should be a once a week meetup to have verbal discussions? Discussion board because it offered interaction with others. It being online The video assignments in this online course were great. I enjoyed watching the videos and reflecting on all the things they revealed. I also like that all assignments were due on Sunday and Wednesday instead of random days every week. It promoted a very organized structure for students to follow. When discussing women I am glad that we pointed out the diversity of women in America to include social status, ethnicity, sexual preference, marital status, etc.

Not long enough. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I took the class in the normal Fall/Spring semester. Some of the material was to strong for me. It being online

The group discussion assignments. My ability to see the invisible , confining control devices of our society. Social imagination. Learning to use and think with and without a social imagination. The teacher promoted creativity and free thought so I feel that people were very open on them. The many "light bulb" moments. Taking this course has opened my eyes to many social issues. The videos that I had to watch! The diversity I have learned. This course taught me a lot about the different levels of thinking (micro/macro levels). I also learned that many people are actually open to homosexuality and just in general. I will remember how all of my classmates have shared very persoanl experiences and the good discussions we had. I also like that the instructor was very open-minded and welcomed if not all, many, many opinions. Nothing much. Because I feel this class is more common sense. Although the textbook is very good. Usually if the textbook is good, I keep tha one in the bookshelf. The discussions. Learning everything about other cultures, ans societies, and what others go through. I learned a lot from this course and I know that I will always remember the discussions in class. reviewing the subject How easy it was to understand the way society is. How sociology works and itʻs effect on everyday life. The things it taught me about sociology and how it relates to life. The debates about the different topics we discussed...some of which were too taboo to talk about. =) The different perspectives of the people I attended class with and the ways it was able to open my eyes and mind to things that were previously not of importance in my life. The liberal viwes. the videos we watched.. Its use of different mass media to teach the subject matter, it really helped to understand the book in a way that I see the world along with the rest of my classmates.

The online discussions. It was great to be able to see everyone's opinions and gain new perspectives on topics. Answering engaging discussion questions. The student demographics were diverse so it was very interesting to read about the differing perspectives on each topic. I enjoyed and learned from the required videos and reflecting on them helped to clear up any questions I had. It allowed me to work and it made it so my school schedule was not so hectic. I really enjoyed this class! What I liked most about this online course was the interraction that my classmates, and I had with each other and the instructor. I liked that I learned all types of people and why they act that way. I enjoyed the topics. I liked how I learned a lot about the weekly topics. I enjoyed watching the films I liked how the powerpoints, readings, videos, assignments and discussion boards all related and enhanced each other. The teacher provided timely feedback and she really made the online class feel like a classroom. The assignments were not cumbersome so we were able to actually think about the concepts So that we could really learn instead of just doing lots of tedious homework without really absorbing any material. Being a mom to a one year old and pregnant with another, online courses provided me with the flexibility to take care of my children and still receie an education The fact that I had time to complete my assignments and quizzes. I left me room for my other courses that needed to take priority I liked that all assignments were pretty much due on the same day of the week every week. I also enjoyed doing discussions and recieving feedback on my own posts. The conveince of online. I like Mrs. Bopp because most of the assignment was done on the weekend. And since I work 15hrs days Mon-Sat, this gave me time. I really liked the discussions throughout the course because I learned a lot about the subject. It made me think a lot, which is good. very convenient I can do my assignments early if I wanted to. Also it saved me gas and time since I can learn on my own time. Ability to work at your own pace The open discussions with the class I liked that I was able to talk to others about the material and what they felpt about certain aspects of society. Seeing different views of things. How flexible it was. I liked how even though this was an online course I still felt like I was still interacting with other classmates. It actually felt like I interacted more with my classmates in this course then when I go to school and sit in class with like a room of 20. I also appreciate how much Bopp encourages us to always think and never stop. When we answer a question, we constantly keep questioning ourselves why or how just to keep thinking.

19. What did you like least about your online course experience?

Only the technical difficulties I had with Itunes at times to download some of the course material. Could not directly chat with other students, or get feedback from them. There was nothing that I disliked. It was an overall great experience and I enjoyed this course. N/A That some of the documentaries and movies could only be found using itunes. Since this was my first online class, it was hard for me to keep checking up and doing the assignments. Online class isnt for me, if I did this class in class I think I would have a better understanding of everything. All the work put into each week The only thing that was a little annoying was the other classmates. Our discussion posts were due on sunday and most people would wait until then to post. This isn't really a big problem, but it was a bit annoying because I would have to wait until then also in order to do my homework. I suppose this would be a problem with any kind of online class. N/A Nothing, I enjoyed it I am a procrastinator and I am disappointed in the way I managed my time. Ms. Bopp gave me more than enough time to complete asignments and I did not keep up with them like how I should have! The least thing I like is the discussion between classmates. I feel that we should just have more of a workload than discuss with fellow classmates. Maybe Im being ant-social, but I rather have more workload. Nothing. Nothing Nothing. This course was great! FORUMS!! It was obvious that some students didn't really think about the material that was assigned. Sometimes, they would just recount what happened in a certain film instead of thinking critically about it. Great teacher, but attacked students with her view of feminism too much. Sometimes forgetting deadlines and not understanding some material. I don't think that i would actually have anything that I least liked about the course, I would just get frucstrated when I would have computer problems and sometimes my work would be lost. I got the hang of constantly reminding myself to check my Laulima.

Using a different source than Itunes to download some of the course material. I think having open discussions, rather than just posts would have made this class more enjoyable for me. No improvement needed. Enjoyed the everything from the guest speaker to the readings. Very interesting. I think the course was fine the way it was. The course could be improved by making documentaries and movies available on youtube not just itunes. It was frustrating for me to download itunes on my computer. Post just one discussion for yourself to get a grade and the other discussions posted to friends should be freely done if wanted to. Well besides the amount of work, the class is really good. This class has the most work a week by far. There were a few technical difficulties with Itunes.edu. I tried to download a few of the movies and the course was not on the itunes site at all. I was able to find the videos on youtube so I did not have to contact the teacher. But it did cause a small bit of trouble. I really enjoyed this course. With Soc. 100 being my first sociology course and first online course, I really don't have much to compare it to. I really enjoyed these psst few months with Ms. Bopp. I am not quite sure how this course could be improved. The instructor was great and the discussions were always very lively! However, some of the video clips were a bit long. Nothing much, this teacher was very hands on through out the course. I think the course went by too fast because there was a lot of information. But with organization and time management, this class is great. I think that the course could be improved if there was more discussions in the forum. Other than that this course was great. There is no need for improvement. This online course was easy and well explained. 1. Improving the grading system instead of a 100 point based class. 2. Give more points for assignments and lesser points for forums. I think that more questions relating to the material as well as to put more thought in what it means in modern society would be cool. Keep your personal opinions to yourself and remain focused on the subject. This course could be improved by having more reminders or due dates. I honestly have nothing to say about any improvements, i mean, everything is done in a timely manner, she allows work in after the due date, and she allows every individual to speak there opinion and gives great feedback everytime.

I had a lot of fun in this course. I learned a lot about accepting one's opinion that did not match my own. I also had fun watching the different movies and documentaries and using them as a tool to understand some of the concepts our intructor was teaching us. I reccommend this instructor to anyone interested in Sociology! I really enjoyed all the topics. I would have wanted to take your class in class instead of online so that I could understand more about this class. :) Excellent course! I would recommend to other students. The teacher that taught me about social problems, many people in the world have them but i learned about them! In ten years I'll probably remember this course by having a consistent schedule. I really liked how everything was due the same day every week. The consistency really helped me in this class. I also like how she is flexible and allows leeway for late assignments. Learning topics that are new to me due to being from a foreign country. I think mostly everything from the discussions that we had. Social issues like homosexuality, education, racism, etc. It definitely gave me a brand new perspective on those issues. The videos we watched that showed our lessons in depth. Studying the different aspects of the issues we covered, like learning about the people who have disabilities and what they have to go through every day. The different content that was both stimulating and thought provoking and gave me different insights on the world around me. How much America has to re-evaluate what the American Dream is, child care, racism etc. People are blinded by their own stupidity All of the information that I learned about society. This course provided me with a better understanding about what is going on in the world today and a lot of social problems that I have been unaware of untill now. 18. What did you like most about your online course experience?

I could do my work whenever I had time. That as a class we shared a little of our background history. What I like most about my online course experience is that Prof. Bopp made herself available and it was extremely easy to contact her. She replied back to all my e-mails incredible fast. Also, she explains things clearly and that help make Laulima easy to navigate. I loved that everything was really organized and that every topic covered was done so in a way where we were able to understand it and then relate and/or feel some kind of emotion about it. Because of that, typing out are assignments and discussions was made even easier for us because we now had things to say on the issues at hand. You learn facts about so many different things, it relates to everyday life. convenient This is my second course online with Professor Bopp. Though I sincerely would like to meet her in person, I feel I have a connection with the passion and energy in which she teaches her courses. As an older student, my opinion was always valued, my interaction with other students wonderful and it was all topped by a wonderful instructor. having to work and study with students from all over not just Maui. the flexibility of doing the required work helped me keep up in the class. I like how everything was due the same day every week and how there was leeway for late assignments. I also like how she would send out announcements to our e-mails. Having the flexibility to study on my own meaning days as well as time of day. It is a good opportunity to work at my own pace. It was definitely convenient and more organized for me. I liked that we had weekly assignments that were easy points that counted towards our overall grade. That I had the flexibility to raise my family and still had the opportunity to learn via a distance education course. Having a teacher that actually responds to every students post, and when i have a question she responds in a timely manner What I liked most is that we were required to engage with other students. Usually while taking an online class you dont really get to know the other students or get a better understanding of a topic because you dont have the opinion of others. Here it was the complete opposite. You got to engage with other students, learn alot, and the material was enjoyable and very informational. i dont like online courses That the instructor was always there, and involved, she explained greatly in a way that we were all able to understand She allowed us to freely express our opinions.

19. What did you like least about your online course experience?

I liked everything. N/A n/a I least liked that there was homework each week. Of course it's expected though so I didn't have a problem with it and was never overwhelmed with too much work. Nothing distant Last semester I commented on I Tunes slowness in loading and asked for more U Tube resources and Prof Bopp responded. Little to none that I disliked about this course. some of the online videos were too long and i lost interest in that particular assignment. N/A Being unable to read some of the material because it is not readable through my screen reader. I do miss the physical interaction of the classroom experience. Everything was individual work. Some of the videos we watched were pretty lengthy. None. It wasnt the courses fault that I tend to procrastinate =) nothing There was nothing I didnt like. everything What I liked least about this course was the textbook. It was written with heavy opinions and a bias point of view rather than having an objective outlook.

20. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

I think this course is great how it is. If people can't pass this class then it's their fault not the instructor or the class. N/A N/A. Prof. Bopp does a great job! This course was perfect. I guess if it could be improved, I'd say that since the homework that took most of my time was the two responces which had to be 100 words each. I guess less words or responces would have been improved the class for me time wise, but not the class in general. I can't think of a way the class could have been any better than it was. I feel like this course is well put together and has a great professor. I always feel like discussion responses are interested but not needed. less work I am at a loss for words. I think how Prof Bopp teaches this course should be a Laulima example. i can not think of anything at this time. the class was interesting and revolved aroud actual situations I think this course was great I would just suggest an improvement on the video files. I didn't really like how we had to log into iTunes and download the videos. The videos would be at the least an hour, therefore they would take almost an additional hour to download. I Sometimes questions were posed to me, and after answering there was no response when one is required; something could be done to initiate a response by the student who posed the question. More formal chat sessions would offer more interaction with other students. Have some group activities that will allow people to communicate other than discussions. Maybe a little less discusion replys. Some students wait till last minute to post their discussion, which limits the amount of discussions you can reply back to. None. Maybe you could add a project involved instead of only having a final paper? But honestly i think this course was by far one of the best i took so far. The material was interesting and the assignments were fun. What I feel could be inproved is the access to the course materials from itunes. Maybe if there were a direct link instead of downloading the material. it cant. it sucks One thing of improvement could be the resources given. The textbook was very biased and rather than being objective in teaching, it was more persuasive towards the authors' opinions.

the functionalist perspective. The discussions and assignments we had. Really makes you think about your perspective of everything. I will remember this course 10 years from now because it has impacted my views on life and social relationships between people. I think it will really help me to understand and interact with others much better. the way sociology has changed the way that I think of society as a whole and to have the sociological imagination in what ever situation I'm in or what ever people I encounter. ....the subjects discussed and the way Mrs. Bopp was so down to earth. The inappropriate comments the teacher made. The videos we had to watch, they were so interesting. The informative, interesting and sometimes intense discussions online. How easy and simple the directions were. Everything was clear and I'll remember a lot of the information. the discussions that I had with classmates and the professor. How much my teacher and classmates had many opinions and solid points that made me rethink some things. The content of the course is relevant to current world events as well as past and present human behavior and the discussion boards were interesting and disturbing. The online discussion boards. Continuity of lessons and tests. A lot of interaction with class and professor. Layout of course on Laulima was very organized. Taught me to build on on-line ettiquett skill. Made me use social imagination on social issues. Weekly shared discussions with class and professor made course interesting throughout the semester. Study guides were very helpful on the tests. Professor enjoyed discussions and was very knowledgeable about the course. Gave me a clear direction in choosing a university because of class discussions. The video links that Professor Bopp would post for us to watch. They really help put the things we were learning into real life situations and furthered my knowledge on certain concepts. What a great teacher I had and the subject matter of the course gave me great insight into the social structures I live in. I will always remember that doing online courses is more work, but the availability of time management makes it worth it. I will always know that Professor Bopp was a very organized, caring and supportive teacher. For one, how much society changes with the turning of time... what will deviant behavior be in 10 years in comparison to now? And for the second, how much a persons religious views, such as Christianity, and beliefs, to state their opinion... is frowned upon. My college professor was willing to meet with me about a big ,rather than, just tossing the problem aside and thinking that they held the only answer. From my experience in the past its not too often this happens. The relative, good nature of jane and the intellectual properties of the discussions. Any time I apply my sociological imagination and think about how things conflict, function, interact and what the implications are of each perspective. I don't think I will ever forget the lesson on gender. Nurture or nature? It was interesting to see how we create gender roles. ...How it is relevant to me as a student and as a member of this ever-changing society. I have always been intrigued by the human or 'subjective' side of a study and I believe that this is what I am attracted to: the human side of a technical course and being able to 'name' or place a scientific/actual term to a human and social phenomenon. This course is awesome: from the main textbook we use in class and Prof Bopp, it's really a great learning experience. Having great discussions with my fellow students. I had fun learning from other students and especially the teacher. The way Professor Bop always gave back feedback to our assignments and how well the comunication was with our group discussions. talking about different social perspective based on raised, gender and beliefs. It was easier than I thought. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to navigate through finding the exams or the materials needed for the course but it was pretty easy once I got the hang of it. The discussions. :) The online course allowed me to have a flexible schedule. I was able to study when it worked best for me and could focus on the material. I liked that we had discussions it helped me understand the material better. Mrs. Bopp made the class exciting and easy to want to learn it wasn't just another boring class. Excellent Job!!! During this course, I didn't feel overwhelmed with the work load. I felt at ease that we were allowed to give our opinion freely. Due dates and assignments were consistent. It was consistent I like that I will be able to take with me a newer understanding on alternative ways to view delicate subjects. It may not always be the views in which I support but the key is to have an open mind and accept and explore every situation, even if you're wrong. It was simple, flexible and worked around my schedule. The discussions with my peers. In many cases I learned information which made me think about issues in a different way. How much different things I learned!!! Patricia Bopp as my teacher. She was involved, created an interesting course, and was accessible to students. She also intervened promptly when there was a problem between students on the discussion board and helped procure a solution to the problem.*****Very important feature of her teaching style: Ms. Bopp also participated on the discussion board unlike many online teachers I have had in the past, which added a wonderful dimension to this course and stimulated dialogue between her and the students as well as between classmates. If I could grade her she would get an A/ME. The online discussion boards and autonomy. Shared weekly discussions helped me to stay on track in this course and to use social imagination to social issues. Questions on discussions were not too difficult to understand because it I could base it on personal experience. Professor was not anal. Professor always posted announcement letting us know what will happen and where to look for certain things on-line. Be able to interact with everyone, and read everyones opinions I liked how it was organized and how she assigned assignments once a week. It helped keep me focused and it was good to have a set schedule to follow where you knew the day an assignment is due. Unlike another class I took online this semester she had an assignment due every Sunday, instead of just random days. She would also assign a new task on Monday mornings so you didn't have to check Laulima every day to see if a new assignment was up. The convenience to be able to do my schoolwork at home so that I can maintained my work schedule and go to school at the same time. The videos helped emphasize using modern situations and scenarios to explain and exaggerate the material we read throughout the term. That my views as a Christian were highly ridiculed. The topic on the decriminalization of prostitution It was flexible to my schedule and I knew the assignments and expectations of each week. Patricia Bopp is a great instructor. I really enjoyed the subject matter we covered, especially the controversial issues. It is good to understand each side of contemporary moral dilemmas. There is a lot to be thankful for on how this course is done by Prof Bopp. Among them are: 1. The pacing of the course. I also think the weekly assignments and discussions are well-scheduled that a student has enough time to read and/or watch the assigned work(s). The additional resources (i.e. videos) also supplements well with the topics. 2. Prof is also on top of the course-- she updates everyone and there is the attention to each and every student and timely comments that are posted about our work I got to learn a lot about sociology and about social skills. I learned a lot of different terms and definitions about this course. I can apply it to my everyday life. It was easy to understand One thing that I liked about this course was how active communicaion was even with being an online course. I can do my assignment on my own time. We get to share our thoughts and what we think about the matter. EVERYTHING!!! What I appreciated most is that Professor Bop put up assignments, quizes and resources ahead of time allowing us manage our time. Other teachers sometimes wait until Thursday to put up an assignment or quiz due on Sunday, Dr. Bopp was different and that is how I was able to do well in that class. Also she was very active in discussions probably upwards of 150 discussion strings through out the class, responding to everyone's posts. She gave us concise and useful job aids so we able to study efficiently. She also handles discussions with wide variety of opinions in a vary professional manner. Over all I am very appreciative of her professionalism and response times.

18. What did you like least about your online course experience?

having to download through i tunes. It was somewhat hard for me because I don't use that program at all. Because it's online, I tend to forget a few of the deadlines. The experience was a positive learning experience. Many of the questions were thought provoking and people seemed to get really passionate about the subject matter. Although the discussion questions forced us to openly state personal views, I do believe that Professor Bopp was effective in teaching us the material. nothing n/a Commenst made by instructor. no chance to do make up work or missing assignments Sometimes it did feel like discussions made some students feel uncomfortable, myself included. It almost felt like you were being attacked or belittled when your thoughts/opinions on a subject were being expressed but may not have been scientifically correct. When this did happen however, Professor Bopp helped to lighten the situation by explaining why or why not or warning those students who did not follow proper online discussion etiquette. The iTunes videos we had to watch for the course always kept freezing on me and at times, couldn't even load. That I never actually met the people I spend so much time chatting with online. I liked it all. When the discussion board went nutty with personal accusations and misreads. I think the discussion topics aren't always clear and there were occasions where the quiz questions were difficult to decipher. N/A Learning the course content and reading everyones responses The use of ITunes for some course materials - too slow to download - suggesting that UTube is used instead for videos. I think it may have been more helpful to have the assignment questions as the discussion board so that the material we read could be explained and understood through others eyes. NOTHING, MWAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHA!!!!!!! I liked everything. None. I sometimes didn't know when everything was due. Sometimes it wasn't clear but once I got use to the schedule then I found a difference in my grades. It was hard to remember when I had the class discussions for each section. Nothing There was nothing that I didn't enjoy about this course! Too much homework and readings/videos that I have to watch. None.. Liked it alot. I don't know how it can be improved. The class seems very well off to begin with. :) The course was well laid out. Some of the questions that were asked touched on personal opinions that was a little uncomfortable, but I believe it was an effective way to get people to think outside of the box and learn to live outside of their comfort zone to a certain extent. nothing I wish the semester was longer n/a N/A Make some way for students to make up missing assignments or late assignments. More emphasis on online etiquette and perhaps trying to make the discussion forums feel more positive and encouraging. Besides the iTunes video, everything was good. Everything was up to par, even the instructor was very flexible and willing to help the students in anyway she could. N/a No improvements need. 3 discussion board entries is too much! How about just 2 instead. The discussions could have focused on more controversial issues. It's difficult to know if you've learned anything of substance if nobody is offended. use of calender on Laulima would help me manage my time better when it comes to submitting and preparing for assignments and tests. I think this class is well organized and structured. Nothing should be changed. Nothing much outside of the ITunes issue mentioned above. Professor Bopp gave excellent course materials, her book was available to ereaders like Nook, she promptly responded each and every time with issues, disccusions, ideas, etc... This course should be a model for a great online teaching experience. The assignments should have actually been used for the discussion board and vise versa in my opinion. Views from all persons should be expected no matter what their religious background is, we learn from peoples difference. More jane bopp. More jane bopp. More jane bopp! Maybe challenge students to respond or comment at least once on things that another classmate said to encourage more conversation, rather than 30 answers to the weeks discussion. Just maintain how it is being presented; just add new relevant 'stuffs', if any. Maybe you can remind the students by emailing the students when everything is due like our homework, quizzes and tests. I think that this course is great just the way it is. She had great communication with responding to everything. I enjoy our group discussions to help each other see different point of views. Maybe if the professor would explain the topic better. I think it is already good for students to learn and understand. It will just make it complicated to add more. Discussion is the best thing and what i like most bout this class. I'll probably remember this course most by all the discussions and assignments I had to do. They were fun and kind of easy and I learned a lot from them. Not only by what I learned, but by the teaching style of the teacher, and I truly felt that she cared about all of us. There were so many excellent discussions, and even though this was an online class, I felt more a part of a team than when I'm in an on-campus course. As I go into my learning path ten years from now God willing;I will remember this course by the many wayswomen used to be treated and the ongoing fight for true eqaulity. For the real aspect of the discussion in this course. The notion that women and men although different in many ways, but at times deal with colonization, poverty, stereotyoing, and and the bold take over from what their normanl used to be because others refer to them as a mere object. For the awareness to look beyond my normal and see that people are people no matter their color, gender, social class, and wealth we at times have to face the same challenges during the course of our life. The issues such as the sexual violence, poverty and the way women are view in this society today and the domestic combat to overcome the stigma of our gender. The content I had to read. It was very powerful and meaningful, and I could relate a lot to the topics that were being discussed, so it made this class that much more interesting to me. On how the instructor made her students think about issues in our society that I learned in this class. And how fairly she graded our work! remenbering the rights of womens and their equal rights with the men. The amount of discussion we had with students and professor in the online forums and privately with the reading assignments. The materials covered about women and how everyday events effect both women and men. I personally think that this course really help me understand the world around me. The interactive discussions that we took part in about the different issues of Women's Studies. Just the positive energy from the teacher. She was just so kind and supporting! The visuals such as the videos, pictures, and/or the written examples. How women have overcome so many struggles and still continue to fight for what they believe is right and also eliminate what is wrong how well it went, being my first ever online class. As well as remembering all the interesting films we saw especially the one about an at-home birth. The many struggles that women in our history had to endure for equal women's rights, as well as what they are doing today--fighting for those same rights. The Juggling Gender video, and the fact that it is a personal course. You talk about yourself some, rather than only what you learn.

17. What did you like most about your online course experience?

I liked how everything was open and we could do all the work at one time. I loved how open I felt I could be with my classmates and instructor. I loved the use of videos mixed in with the readings. This was the only online class I have ever enjoyed, and perhaps my only college course that I have ever enjoyed. I really enjoyed the diversity that this class had although we could not see one anther but the discussion made it worth whiled, I would log on just to see what people were talking about whether I agree or disagree with it. Of course I am a working wife and mother the flexibility of the online class is an added bonus. I could have discussions and interact online with my classmates, which was rare in my past online classes. Professor Boop was very helpful. Although this was an online course all the reading assignments were due quickly, but I enjoyed because it helped me to keep up with then work. Prof Bopp made our online class feel like a lecture class because she was always around to help her students. I like how the assignments were commented back from her and she also adds on her opinions. She is a great instructor! I like the disscussion, because I can learn a lot of things with the opinion of my classmates and my Ms. Bopp The flexibility of being able to do work on my own time. The deadlines were clearly expressed and were easy to follow. The syllabus explained assignments and due dates and tools from Laulima were used extensively (Gradebook, Assignments, Discussions, etc). She was well organized and made the course easy to follow and learn. It was clear what was expected for the course right from the start, which made it much easier to stay on task. I like the time limit she gave us on the assignments and the flexible grading. I also like how she supported our ideas and got into the discussions. I liked the class discussions because I could see and understand the material being taught from other perspectives. What I liked the most about the class was tho it is an online class we the students had alo to of interracton with each other. and also the instructor answer my email very quickly I liked how everyone could have their own personal input into the different issues that we discussed and that we were able to relate what we read and the films that we watched to our own lives. It was great that our different opinions helped us learn rather than caused problems. The class discussions where we all could express our personal opinions about a certain women's right topic. Also that it was okay to disagree. I was able to do it in my own time, and the material was easy to understand, even if I did not have a teacher explaining it to me.

18. What did you like least about your online course experience?

I liked basically everything because it was fun, easy and I learned a lot. Nothing. So far this class is my second online class and I am liking the idea. I must that I was an optimist when it came to online class, but I think it is growing on me. I will definately take more classes online in the future. It was accelerated, so it was hard to keep up with the assignments needed. Some of the material was hard to read/ watch because of how personal the content was. But, she did warn us beforehand and overall it was an enjoyable class. N/A none None, I enjoyed it. Online was the only option I had during the time, but if I had to do it again, I'd choose an in-class for more personal connections with the subject matters. A lot of the readings were crammed or felt like they were at least. It would help a lot if they were spread out a little more through out the week instead of cramming 2-3 chapters in one sitting. If I had to say one thing I didnt like about this class it had to be the 3 responses to each discussion and having two to do. I knew what I was getting into when I registered for a summer online course. It was pretty intense as far as when assignments were due as well as all the readings that needed to be accomplished before turning these assignments in. everything was great no negative comment. great peers, helpful instructor, interesting topics, so, great class! The reading. Some were interesting, while others I had to read several times to understand.

I don't really know how this course could be improved. There is nothing. The only improvement that I think would be giving the student a few hints on when the test material would be on, overall I really enjoy this class I would have liked it if more of the assignments included more critical thinking instead of definitions and statements to be reviewed, but I'm happy with everything and how this class went. N/A just keep up the good work. This course really makes the student think critically and gives them the chance to discuss with other students and Professor Boop about the course material. I feel that this course doesn't have too much to improve on. Keep it the way it is. She is a wonderful teacher who already have things in line. Great course, a little heavy reading in some weeks, other weeks not so much. So for the heavier weeks they could be spread out a little more. I think everything about this class was great. She gave plenty of time for us to do the assignments. Being that this is a summer course maybe having the class discussions and/or assignments due towards the end of the week rather than twice a week. Reading from some class discussions, it does not seem that all the readings were done before answering the questions. Having it due one time towards the end of the week, will maybe give more time to read, understand and ask questions if needed as well as a better explanation when answering the assignments. I would have liked more films to tie into the readings because the films that we did watch were really informative and interesting. none.

I liked being able to work at my own pace, even though I have a very busy life. Discussion and weekly writing assignments The guest speakers and the discussion board help a lot and made this class a lot more interesting. I liked that we were able to use the discussion boards because it allowed people to talk about things that they might not have felt comfortable saying in a classroom. I liked the interviews and the discussions with my fellow classmates. Learning the Laulima system a little more. I could do the assignments at my pace, excluding the deadlines of course. It had me increasing in reading and typing on the laptop, as well as learning things about laptops in general. The format of the class made it very easy to have communication and discussion of the materials with both classmates and professor. Online discussion topics were thought provoking and insightful. The guest lecturers also were a great resource over the course of this class. Feeling comfortable enough to share personal experiences.

15. What did you like least about your online course experience?

I got distracted while working on assignments. N/A A lot of people didn't respond on the discussion boards right away, which made it really hard to keep a discussion about the weeks material going. Some of the content was heavy at times. I'm a touchy-feely, see you, interacting person. Like when we do in classrooms. I appreciate that some of my fellows placed a picture with their names. nothing, I loved the class.

16. State in two or three sentences how this course could be improved.

Professor Bopp's class is very organized and her student expectations are as clear as can be. Nothing needs to be changed. I think my only suggestion would be to keep students more accountable for posting earlier so that more people were involved in the discussions. Require students post throughout the week instead of three posts on the last day. Have students rewrite a paragraph evaluating their own papers instead of just resubmitting. 6. What did you find most valuable and helpful about the course?

Breast feeding is good :D I liked the different angles she helped me to perceive things at, very interesting. I found the different opinions expressed in class added to the experience and helped everyone in the class realize that we all have different life experiences and opinions. The speakers that visited class also added tremendously to the subject matter and I'm very grateful that they were able to speak to the class. Her powerpoint slides were very informative and she offered those slides on Laulima to help us study. I enjoyed the videos and guest speakers. I love Patricia Bopp as a professor. She is well educated in what she teaches, has a strong opinion but is very open for discussion, and most importantly has great effective skills to keep her students attention. I like that she uses a lot of visuals to help me understand the material being taught. The exposure that she gave to topics I've never had exposure to before. Getting to talk to and hear from guest speakers was by far one of the best parts of the class. Just about every aspect of the course turned out to be very valuable. I enjoyed the guest speakers, the lectures, illustrations and videos. They all contributed greatly to my learning of the topics in this course. the biology part of class. I found the different and various topics valuable. She brought in amazing guest lecture speakers with great insight on the subject Professor Bopp made the class material fun to learn and class an enjoyable experience. This course was a real eye-opener. My previous education has censored a lot of aspects about the human body and open-sexual orientation.. So I have really appreciated and somewhat overwhelmed at the realities of what I have missed out in high school and community college. Jayne Bopp brought in actual people to better illustrate the content of the studies in class. The study guides are really helpful as well. The information provide. The facts. I am not a biology major, nor have I taken any science course besides my general ed so I found learning about the human body most valuable. I also found that I enjoyed learning about the various guest speakers she set up for us as well as her knowledge on laws and social norms of American society and other European and Third World societies and was able to make comparisons through her knowledge. Professor Bopp was extremely knowledgeable, through study and through experience. She was also very blunt and honest, without being rude or condescending. Professor Bopp creates a fun environment and a safe haven for her students to learn. the teacher Mrs. Bopp is a great teacher and her teaching style is very unique. Like most college professors, she does class lectures but she also uses other teaching styles as well. She invites guest speakers to share and present information with us. She also uses short clips and videos that display a different perspective of the class content. Everything. Especially the guest speakers. Her teaching style is endearing and makes the course content relevant to students. I enjoyed learning about the different types to contraceptives that woman can use. This was a very informative class. I feel that the content and the issues discussed in this class went above and beyond the syllabus, in a great way. I thought tha pretty much everything covered in the course was valuable. Alot of what we covered are topics that either will affect us or has the potential to affect us. Learning "biological" and "social" perspective of human body, acknowledging "biological" difference in sex, realizing the social hierarchy created by men, invisible fact about "medical" treatment, meeting wonderful guest speakers and instructor. This class gave me many different perspectives on various issues regarding sex, and provided me with information I would not have known otherwise. This class taught me to keep an open mind and look for information that may not exactly support the widely accepted norms. Everything was organized well. All information was on Laulima, well organized and easy to understand. She is very helpful and understanding. All content was relevant to life. We covered a wide variety of sensitive and interesting concepts in class. Listening to other's discussions and what others had to say was an eye opener. Everything was valuable, from the very beginning of the semester to the topics that we are covering now. The topics were informative and I especially appreciated the guest speakers in class! Prof. Bopp has a great attitude every class and knows how to talk to students of all ages. She keeps the class fun and even with a class of more than 100 students, she gets us all involved and gives everyone a chance to speak their opinion. Professor Bopp was very easy to relate to and how she taught her classes made this class very enjoyable. Having the lecture powerpoints and exam study guides available early in the semester made it easy to prepare for the class. Prof. Bopp is the best professor I have ever had. She knows the material and teaches it with excellence. The information was fascinating and presented to us in diverse ways that kept your attention and made you want to come to class. gaining an understanding for situations I had never encountered before.

7. What did you find least valuable and helpful about the course?

Orgasms Nothing. N/A Nothing at all Nothing. It was a great experience. I didn't feel anything could have or should have been left out. being more openminded The discussion posts on Laulima. I had a hard time keeping up with that. Some topics were covered in my previous classes The class size was a little too large for my liking It's not so much of the course itself, but of how a lot of the substance from the lectures stirred a lot of contradiciting views, and caused some arguments outside of class. But all in all, i really enjoyed this class! I think i would have appreciated the class more if it weren't integrated with women studies. But it definitely made me think. Nothing. none. the textbook I really thought that everything was useful and helpful about this course. There is nothing bad that I can say at all about it. the attendance sheet. Nothing. Even the graphic pictures we had to see contributed to the understanding of course materials. I found that the ground rules that were created for the class were the least valuable and helpful; I think that since we are in college, there should be no need for ground rules because students are supposed to be adults. Respecting everyone's opinions and beliefs should be a "given". Everything relates to people all info given can be used in life!! Nothing. none To be honest, I really didn't use the textbook at all. Even though it was a Biology/Women studies course, it wasn't as much biology as it was feminism. Side talking from classmates. Watching videos/ video clips were helpful. The study guides provided before the exams extremely helped me to study and make good grades. nothing n/a The students in the class were way too opinionated and dramatic. They made the classroom environment uncomfortable with their constant need to discuss things and give their two cents to every thing we covered. This, of course, was not the professor's fault. 21. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?

I don't think she could improve- she's got a really great system, she keeps in interesting, i loved it. I think that ground rules may need to be set during the first class as precautionary action, other than that nothing. She doesn't have to improve on anything. I would have loved this class if it was taught in a smaller classroom. I didn't like how spread out the students were from each other. walk around during the lectures to stop side conversations / people's inappropriate comments. I guess she could have made it more clear that a lot of the topics covered in class are touchy and may be offensive for some, and thus students should refrain from sharing their views with other students via email and such. But what occurred in class this semester was not Professor's fault. shes awesome i have no complaints. N/a She does a great job so far, with little room for improvement. Maybe she could consider more pictures in the slides? To be honest she does a wonderful job and I am satisfied with how she has run her classroom. Why fix what isn't broken? She was terrific. She was real and very elaborate in her lectures. She related her lectures with actual visual aid (pictures and videos) and she made sure to include the students in her discussion. I like how she set everything up and how she provided the proper slides on Laulima. I wouldn't have her change anything. n/a I thought her teaching style was great and effective. The only thing that I could suggest is implementing group activities or assignments. Nothing, she's great and the course was a great learning experience. Professor Bopp can reduce the bias she has on certain subjects. This is a science course, and I feel that facts should be the "main dish" of what is taught in class rather than people's opinions. If people do have things that they want to discuss and debate about, then perhaps opening discussion boards on Laulima would be something she could do to improve the teaching of this course. Other than that, the facts that were presented in class was straight forward. Just keep it fun! Always looked forward to this class I think it's perfect just the way it is. not too much class discussion It would be easier for her to use a presenter to move to next slide. Also it is good for us because we have more time to listen to her lecture. I think it would be interesting if she brought in people who have more "conventional" opinions on some of the topics and had them sort of debate with one another. I really like her teaching style, it makes it fun and interesting but some subjects should be less relaxed about and non-chalant. Nothing, it was great! maybe more guest speakers. Maybe she can work on different approaches when introducing new topics and/or explaining someone else's view in order to be clearer. She doesn't need, I think she's an amazing teacher! Bopp was great! n/a Nothing :) She is doing an amazing job. I can't think of any way to improve on it! make males feel more welcome than women, since they are largely outnumbered. Easy to get singled out.

27. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?

The class speakers- so rare to have to many great guest speakers! I throughly enjoyed the speakers, videos and class discussions we had. It makes the class feel more...approachable and comfortable. There is no other class that I have attended that everyone has been so willing to speak out and participate in discussions and I'm glad that there is an unspoken trust in this class that allows and encourages people to share. I liked seeing how bias between men and women can be found where ever you look/ The guest speakers and Jayne's sense of humor. This was my favorite class to go to The lectures were the best part of the course. I got to hear how all the topics related to women's studies which was also very valuable. I enjoyed how Prof Bopp used various mediums to teach the class and not to just stick to the old, traditional way of talk, talk, talk. The videos that were shown were always intriguing, the guest speakers as well (they were actually my favorite part), and some of the topics discussed made me change some opinions of my own, personal life. The raw, in your face style that she used to present. It was a good icebreaker and helped the class get their wits about them so we could cover topics a bit more comfortably Professor is an awesome instructor. She engages with her students which makes for a better learning experience for all. Even though it is a women studies course, she made it neutrally biased.. looking at it through a woman's perspective, but not ruling out the man's point of view either. She did put up a lot of debate with her lectures too. And also, she made me appreciate woman's body a lot more. the lectures and discussions, guest speakers, and learning about everything. I liked how the biology and women studies aspect were bridged together. I also loved all the guest speakers and enjoyed all the lectures and materials. In other words, I liked everything in this class. powerpoint presentations, open discussions I loved this course. She's a great teacher and I took a lot from the class discussions and class lectures. The videos, lectures, and guest speakers. I liked the use of humor and playfulness to relate to the students and then the use of guest speakers who really were involved in the communities we were learning about. I really liked the study guides. The lectures I liked the combination of methods used to teach. The Powerpoints, guest speakers, videos, and articles were all engaging. There was no skirting around difficult topics. it was the most interesting bio course i have ever taken fun and informative Multi-points of views! I enjoyed the class videos because they gave specific examples of some of the topics we covered in class. In addition, they weren't 50 years old so that was nice. I love her teaching style and how unorthodox her speaking is. She makes class much better than other teachers who are monotone and boring. Everything, the way she designs her class is great, easy to follow and understand. I really enjoyed the topics covered and listening to the guest speaker, teacher, and other students. Probably the topics that we are going over now, especially concerning issues like abortion rights in the u.s. All aspects. This class was amazing! everything! I enjoyed the guest lectures, which related the class concepts to real life situations and made it more personable. The material covered was fascinating. Prof. Bopp presents controversial subject matter in a fair way and allows students to decide for themselves what to believe. The material pertains to all aspects of life. Excellent course, all-in-all. I thought the information covered in the class was really relevant to college students. Prof. Bopp presented it in an entertaining, lighthearted way but was serious when necessary because some heavy subjects were definitely covered. I loved everything about this class. I think that the only thing I would note is that the book seems fairly irrelevant. One is able to ace the tests without even opening the book so I would just suggest stop recommending that students buy it if it isn't even necessary. N/A The book could be cheaper. Like I mentioned before, I wish this class was taught in a smaller classroom so that the students can interact better with each other. The only thing that could make this class better would be if Jayne was able to walk around during the class, because people in the back were often talking / texting and sometimes were distracting. She would make announcements telling rude people to leave if they didn't want to be there, but extra presence around the room might be helpful if it's a problem in the future. Smaller class sized would make this class much more effective for the students. With smaller class sizes, the Professor can better teach the students on a more personal level and help them more. nothing needs to changed. Sometimes I, forgot about the discussion posts on Laulima. In the future, some type of reminder would be nice. that the class could be put in a smaller class room so that people can be more comfortable on what to say. Maybe do something about the attendance sheet. I come everyday and I see all these people sign in and just leave. I think that it's disrespectful and unfair for the students who actually come. Honestly, I can't think of a way to improve this course. It satisfies all the course objectives and remains interesting despite some uninspiring topics. As a student, I have no idea how you could possibly improve this course. However, a lot of the topics and issues are very controversial. I suggest creating a comfortable environment that provides students the opportunity to speak their mind about it would help. I suggest students do written assignments about controversial issues. No thank you! This is a science course, and I feel that facts should be the "main dish" of what is taught in class rather than people's opinions. If people do have things that they want to discuss and debate about, then perhaps opening discussion boards on Laulima would be something that could be done to improve this course. Not much that could be improved ?! I don't think it could. This course is very wonderful and I believe that this is the best course I took at UH. It cannot make any better for those who comes to class regularly. The idea I said earlier about bringing in people with more conventional opinions in order to provide an opposing view would be kind of cool. More control over the class. More class participation. Thank you for an interesting semester, I feel that I can take the confidence of being able to express myself in this class into future course I may take. I will definitely miss this class! Her knowledge on this subject helped students learn and retain the information. I enjoyed being in her class and would like to take more classes from her if I can. I love Jayne! She's why I want to keep studying Women Studies. What an amazing woman! I enjoyed this course very much! This has been one of the best classes I've taken in such a long time. :) Amazing job, comical woman. I believe that the instructor is very important. I don't know any other woman studies instructors but my instructor for this class is wonderful. 9. Ten years from now I'll probably remember this course most by ...

all the subjects we covered. Very interesting topics and discussions! I loved it! Opened my mind to another realm! Learning about the different cultures and aspects of family and their influences -reading Blu' haning -seeing a different approach to things -things are never black or white, theres tons of in between My Professors high energy, great family dynamics topics and interesting classes. The things it made me realize that I had never thought of before and the guest speakers. Also being able to relect on the papers... The movie The Business of Being Born. That really made me rethink and reconsider my attitudes about pregnancy and birth. It also informed me about the ways in which the medical profession mistreats women during pregnancy and childbirth, which was very enlightening for me. Professor Bopp's enthusiasm about the course material, the fantastic guest speakers who shared their experiences, and the amount of knowledge i learned from taking this class. Hands down, this is the best class I have ever taken in my entire college career. The exploration of a counter ideology within the context of american family and intrinsic patriarchy. Moreover the connection between feminism and complete equality that is expressed today (3rd wave). I came away with a deeper understanding of the issues faced on all sides, with all genders etc in relation to family and marriage. HOw great the professor was and how she talked about real cases. The class was very interesting. the wide variety of readings gave us a broad spectrum of information to learn from. We were exposed to many different and at times opposing theories which enabled us to decide for our selves what we believed, as well as criticize the societal constructs that make us think that way. professor bopp just an amazing teacher and knows what she is doing. The birthing process that women have to go through. how safe of an environment it was, given the heavy material. That I was able to speak my opinion and learned from other perspectives . I also learned how to apply my knowledge in my everyday life. challenging my internal beliefs about many relevant and controversial subjects like abortion and homosexuality.

It should be held twice a week instead of just once. GrEat class It was just an amazing course, I dont know how to improve it. I would recommend more class discussion and dialogue. There ought to be better ways of getting students involved and in discussion about the readings and topic(s) covered in class. I don't have any comments on improvement. I really enjoyed this class and a large portion of that was because of Professor Bopp teaching it. She is phenomenal! I would take anything from her. the course should be closed to any academic standing lower than junior. Moreover i do not feel that there should be such staunch restrictions on class capacity and instructor overrides. Many very good students that would have provided insightful, educated and contextual conversation in class were negated due to athletic preference in enrollment. And honestly, i do not feel this class was nearly as important or useful to some of these athletes as it would have been to the others. I don't think there is better way to teach this class the way she did. well done She is a very good teacher. Had a lot of fun in her class, will recommend others to take this professor. dont make it once a week...twice a week would be better Maybe more structure to the lecture of the different feminist perspectives. There's quite a few so it can be confusing.

I love Jane! She was an AWESOME teacher! The topics we covered were relevant and she always found a way to make it interesting. The guest speakers were amazing too! I also thought the guest speakers were awesome, and I enjoyed the videos we watched as well. My favorite unit was probably the birth/motherhood unit where we compared different countries' attitudes toward pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. Very interesting and informative! Professor Bopp is extremely passionate when she teaches, she knows what she is talking about and clearly teaches us the material without biasses. This course was really interesting and i really enjoyed the guest speakers and the videos. it helped me look at this course and understand the meaning of it in a different way. She always would inform us if there was a paper coming up that was due, she always encouraged us to turn things on time. She always answered our questions and made things clear for us to understand. she answers questions as best as she can and she posts all study guides on laulima extended the deadlines for papers. She would ask us questions to see if we understood the lesson well, or understood something she was just talking about.

I like how she's so real and blunt about things, because most teachers aren't like that. Most teachers like to sugar coat things. I like that she has a sense of humor. I like that when she teaches she relates things in the book to our everyday lives. she's local and made me feel comfortable in her class Made all power points for chapter and answered the study guide for us which made the quizzes great. She really emphasized what was important in the chapter and went over practice quiz day before actual quiz. I liked how she had guest speakers involved with the lessons.

she has a really happy attitude and she is understanding She is by far the best instructor I have ever had. I have considered taking her other courses even though they aren't related to my major just because she is so amazing. Wonderful person. That she is an excellent teacher and knows her subject really well.

I find the speakers were amazing!! Maybe more speakers could come. Or hands on type learing where you go out into the field and see how society is in certain aspects. I.e.... homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters or maybe mandatory community service in those fields. In my oppion the course could have been improved by having pop quizes. also, I found it disrespeful for students to be walking out of classin the middle of instruction. I was disappointed with some of the vulgar language that was used. On a good note I've learned great things in this class. There is nothing to improve in this class. I would like to discuss other countries with families in the pacific, rather than just Hawaii and Japan. Perhaps, Tahiti, Samoa, Phillippines, Midway, Marshal Islands and other pacific islands that arn't talked about much. best teacher eva she is a great instructor, that is why i am taking her women's study next semester. I wasnt very interested in the course before I took it, but Jayne does a good job of making it fun, and making you feel welcome. Sometimes the material seems to have a certain bias, but it wasn't always an issue. Im not sure it can be improved that much, considering you have a great teacher that excels in really helping her students understand all concepts. I have not been in school for 9 yrs and she has made me feel comfortable learning, which has been hard for me at times. Thanks more time to debate? i like the quality of the small classes, vs. the quantity of large classes. Extending the instruction time. Have a WI- course. Field trips. i have nothing to add as to Mrs Bopp improving because she was AWESOME!! have papers for only mid term and final but grade heavier and replace old paper assignments for more group presentations. it was fun being engaged and talking. This class needs no impovement NEVER replace Professor Bopp from teaching this course! I think the course could be improved with some community service or volunteer requirement. It doesn't have to be a whole semester thing, it could be a one time thing. I think the students would appreciate this course more if we gained some real life experience.

She listened to her students before and after class. she was genuinely interested in what her students had to say and offered suggestions to help them with their work and life (personal problems) Mrs. Bopp showed concern for students by allowing them to voice their own oppinions and express who they are and what they thought without prejudice. By making the class interesting so that people won't fall asleep in it. she loves her students and takes time to help them by being supportive as i said before in the previous writing space. Excellent teacher, really knows how to explain what she is teaching so anyone can understand. by sympathizing, but remaining positive. Made time to address concerns, or to just be a good listener. she takes time out for us. she makes you feel like you have all her attention. she treats us with great respect! whenever we voice our opinions you can tell she genuinely listens and responds. She lets us know if we need any help to never hesitate and ask questions or meet her in her office. She offered help outside of class She always took the time to meet on a one on one basis if needed. She has extreme patience and VERY gifted in the subject she teaches. WCC has recieved a gift that you cannot put a price on. Basically "Priceless". Jayne always encourages questions and makes sure that students understand difficult concepts. Jayne was always available to talk after class. She gave good feedback and she was genuinely interested in her students.

27. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?

I love the course layout. The speakers were amazing and the topics were very near and dear to me which made it more and more interesting to learn about. She was her self. I like the fact that she had alot of hands on experience and knowledgable in what she was teaching. She could talk to the class so that everyone could hear her and understand her. Sometimes she may seem rude, but is just being who she is; I think some students take that offensively, but mature students understand her. I appreciate her passion and the arguments she presents to students. She forces us to think critically and challenges us with uncomfortable questions regarding the course material and life. discrimination of classes in hawaii everything I liked her methods of teaching, really just taking the time to explain what she means. her personal experience, the course materiel, like i said the quality of the class was substantial. The subject matter and materials are current. I especially enjoyed our close-knit class, though much different in opinion, the environment in which we created as a class, feels inviting and safe to share, making class discussions very stimulating. she was so understanding of so many cultures and has had so many experiences. she is so knowledgeable. Mrs Bopp is so down to earth and she makes you comfortable and no matter your answer nothing or no idea is stupid. group setting and open conversation were definately a plus I liked everything about this class. It gave me a new view on life and families. I like how she made it so simple to understand to where it wasn't boring. Having the guest speakers she did have was very resourceful. Everything was relevent to what we were learning. It was different and fun, she made making come to class worth it. I really like how she was funny and made us feel very comfortable I loved it because she always made things interesting. I liked the fact that Jayne was honest and forthcoming with her opinions. She introduced and exposed us to many problems in our society. She applied this course to reality.

Kumu, Thank you for a great semester. Thank you for listening to me when I talked about my ohana and the cultural differences I experienced. You made me see that there are more out there like me and going through similar problems. Mahalo nui loa! She was a great teacher! I would take another class if she was teaching a higher level class. great teacher. yes she is great she is great .. <3 she is so awesome! Will she be teaching other classes? My favorite part of this class would have to be the people, very much including our professor. Professor Bopp's sense of humor, life experience, and continuous real world correlations makes this class a fun way to learn. that she deserves a RAISE!! She's honest, and she makes things to what seems complex at first but once she starts to explain its like a "OHHH" thing. Then you understand whats going on. She is very entertaining and very informative. She taught me so many things that I had no idea about Because of her I now want to pursue my goals even more. I will honor her by graduating with no less than a GPA of 4.0 (or at least to the best of my abilities!). I loved Jayne's class, I think she is a wonderful person, she is well educated in her subject and she has a unique teaching style.

I would definately recommend Kumu to others. I find her class extremely interesting and feel others would too! yes, I liked her way of teaching she was up front and her self. Of course! she makes learning fun and interesting. yes, because she's challenging yes yes Yes great teacher, because she will open up your mind. yes I already have. HIGHLY!! she is just an awesome teacher! yes, she is a great teacher Yes, she's totally awesome and non-judgemental. Yes I would, she's one of the best professors I have had at Windward. Yes I would definitely recommend I have been recommending her to everyone who wishes to attend WCC or is already attending and has not been in her class yet. I enjoy how the class was taught so I have no ideas on how it can be improved. It's a fun environment to learn in, there is no need for improvement from my prospective. I would have liked to have seen more of women's everyday issues. i honestly think there is nothig to improve. she knows her subject really well. she knows how to keep the students interested in the subject. I really wish there was more time. Sometimes with the rush of the semester, the ending lectures are a tiny bit rushed and this class was so interesting I didn't want it to end. There is nothing else that needs to be improved. Jayne's lessons are explained in detail with the assistance of videos, lectures with powerpoints, and guest speakers. All of the elements of teaching the WS concepts are greatly explained through these ways. Class discussions she begins are very helpful and interesting to listen to different people's perspectives, especially hers. it should be a course focusing on issues and challenges women go through, i.e. social ills oppressing women, to help broaden the perspective of the students being taught. instead this was a course designed and connected to fashion. This class could be improved by getting another book. The information kind of links together so it makes it confusing kind of cause it could have many answers depending on what point of view you are looking at. By addressing from the beginning that this course is all about the materialistic The only thing that could be improved is the dressing out of context project. It would be a good idea to have students dress up and come to school. I think Jane Bopp does a great job just as it is. I liked this course and I feel that there is no need for improvement. The lectures are good, the films and guest speakers are good, and the teacher is very knowledgable and experienced. more group work The book was a bit off sometimes, but really,I liked it all overall. I love the way she teaches. Please don't change a thing. You are the best and wonderful teacher I've ever had. Cheaper books would be nice! it doesn't need to be improved, its great the way it is. I don't think I have anything bad to say about this course or teacher.

Helped out with all questions. She makes sure things are okay and understands if there are predicaments that come up that makes it so the student would miss class. She's very accommodating for either situation. She would let you ahead of time, of what will be discussed in class and if you feel you it was a touchy subjuct for you then, you are obt not to come to class She is very thorough and goes over the material in detail so that I understand it well. she gives everyone an opportunity to improve their grade She always took the time to answer questions to where the student was satisfied with the answer. I felt that she really cared about our education and was very passionate about the subject she was teaching and wanting to teach us what she could. She is easily accessible through email, allowing students to ask for help or extensions on assignments. She understands that college students have different lives and therefore gives opportunities for students to make up work and succeed. Kumu encouraged open and honest discussions. She did her very best in addressing the concerns and issues based on experience. She respect everyone. She lets people know if they are uncomfortable they can leave and also talk to her and she will accomidate them. She always asks if anyone has any questions or concerns. Before she ever embarks on touchy material she always forewarns students of any offenses. She tells us to be open, honest, and never hesitate to communicate in finding successful means of completing course assignments for expected grade level. help with papers give time to complete very heplful Jane was easily approachable and very down to earth. Although she had her own opinions she always presented all sides in an unbiased fashion and encouraged students to examine the topic in a similare manner. Professor Bopp makes sure that all students know when tests are and when assignments are due. She constantly reminds the students to make sure that everyone can turn assignments in on time. She offers extra credit which really helps if you'd like to get an A in the class. Professor Bopp also makes sure that everyone understands and encourages questions throughout the lectures. she helped students when they needed extra help I would say that she always said before something could have a trigger, and I think that is a clear indicator that she cared for the feelings and comfort of her students. She always made sure that she gave use the right materials to undedrstand. She always made sure we understood what was going on. she shows that she cares by paying attention to what the student says She was ALWAYS available for questions that we had. Even though we weren't her only class, she tried her best to connect with all of us.

27. What did you especially like/dislike about the way the instructor taught this course?

Shes a great teacher and makes the class have fun as well as learn. I like how she engages the class with interesting guest speakers, videos, and how she goes into the material. She makes you want to know more and peaks your curiosity throughout the semester. no "dislike"....she is very approachable and easy to talk to. She made the class interesting and fun. i like how she makes jokes and makes everything we learn fun. She made it easy to understand. Sometimes in certain classes the material can be a little difficult, but this was straight forward, eye opening and really interesting. I loved coming to class because I left with a mind full of knowledge and felt good about learning rather than dreading going to class. I loved the way Jayne gave her honest and sometimes biased opinion on an issue in Women's Studies, but always encouraged students to make their own decisions about something. She always left topics open for students to share their experiences and opinions giving other students different perspectives. I also really enjoyed the guest speakers and videos she showed. It really helped us to get an idea of a different person's perspective and how they feel about a topic. I truly enjoyed Kumu. She's fun, knowledgeable, every class the discussion involved students input, she's great as a teacher, a person especially as a woman with a heart for people. I liked that she did her lessons on the power point and let everyone talk story about whatever they wanted to talk about on the power point. She is a very outgoing teacher that makes class very fun and enjoyable. I especially liked her personality and how genuinely interested she is in the subject matter and also how interesting she makes it for the students. I didnt like how a lot of the views and angles seemed very one-sided. She could be less radical and have some more conservativeness. Her video materials seemed outdated and definitely could be more intelligent. The movies/ videos we watched didnt seem to have great credibility- they were weak in their arguments and somewhat menial. She's very insightful, quick-witted, energetically attentive, ready to present the material, and especially eager to discuss the materials. I love the fact that she is very open when it comes to class discussions and that there is something that students can relate to. She made the course interesting and fun. I like that she brought in guest speakers. It's one thing to learn about a subject, but it turns into a whole different thing when you're speaking to someone who has been through the situations we talk about in class. i liked everything about how she taught the course I just really enjoyed hearing her ideas and personal feelings, because it gave a human side to the material. I really liked the fact that she was always coming up with new ideas to keep usse interested in the subject. I like everything. i like the way she teaches. it is very enjoyable I liked how she used Skype for a guest speaker. I never had that in a class before, so it was interesting to experience that.

28. What else would you like to say about this instructor?

You are my favorite professor and i like how you understand that sometimes we cant come to class and its just how life works. Thank you I look forward to taking more of her classes! Great teacher, will take more classes from her I would have loved to take more of her classes, but she only has afternoon classes next semester and it would have been great if she had more morning classes. She is hella funny!!!! One of my favorite things about her is that she was in the Peace Corps which is something I am very passionate about doing when I graduate college. I thought it was really interesting that she volunteered in Africa because that is where I would like to volunteer myself and look forward to visiting in the near future. She is an awesome teacher and knows how to keep us all interested in her lectures. Jayne is hilarious and I love her teaching style. She sets up the class so that it is easy to succeed if students complete all their work. Her class discussions and topics covered are very interesting and stimulating. It really makes students open their mind about different things and shows the true sides of things. She's one of a kind. The U.H. system is very blessed to have Kumu on their staff. She makes learning interesting, fun and personal allowing us to ask questions of ourselves based to what we have been exposed to in class. She has a deeper view of humanity from her past experiences with countries that have little or no means to basic accommodations, safety, protection, and survival as we take for granted in this free country. She is refined and not conformed to the patterns of our shallow and materialistic capitalist country. And I admire that freshness about her point of views that make me think on a higher and truer level that was not mine before now. Keep up the awesome work. She's a great teacher! When I was picking my classes for this semester as soon as I saw her class I was interested in the subject, but having her as the professor made it all the more interesting. She was so much fun, full of energy, funny, and made you want to come to class and learn. I would definitely recommend other students to take her class. 20. How can the instructor improve the teaching of this course?

No improvement needed. This class was taught extremely well. Maybe Jane can improve by letting us discuss more in class. I am sure that many people had burning points to put out. I haven't been in a Women's Studies course this large before. The last couple of WS classes I were in were small classes, which meant more student discussion and/or debate and a lot more critical thinking involved. I feel a smaller class would improve the course, or perhaps divide the class into groups for more discussion and involvement about assigned readings. The guest speakers are very insightful and bring the material into perspective. I hate reading the textbook...get rid of it :P. It's biased. I like that the instructor makes the material funny, animated and interesting, but I had a WS major friend who dropped the course because she felt "the instructor was too sarcastic about the material and didn't uphold herself as a knowledgeable figure". She was warned in the beginning by the instructor so that's fair game. I agree with my friend to some degree, that instead of brushing off a student's question with an "I don't know," maybe say "I'm not too sure but what we do know is...". It's just presentation that's all. Being that this was her first time teaching this course I think she did a very good job. The class was engaging, fun, interesting and I feel that I learned alot I loved this course!! None. Maybe getting more specific details on the topics then just a broad over view. was great how it was I can't think of anything, she is an amzing teacher and I learned so much from her and taking her class. I like how you cover the basics in the beginning of all human anatomy parts but somethings you were a little less knowledgeable about that would not be clear if I did not take a anatomy course before. But I understand that it was the first time teaching this course. Nothing! I don't think that there is anything that needs to be improved. I thought the class was taught effectively. its already relly good. It seems like she has always been teaching this class She was AWESOME! Very interesting material, interesting class and presentations! Learned alot! Wish I had more instructors like her! I love the style she teaches. Easy to understand and very interested. I think she did an excellent job teaching this course, and considering that this is her first time teaching it, there isn't much to be improved. Nothing, it was all good. I'm not sure. Make the class smaller. Her lectures were simple and easy to understand. Her study guides are very helpful and her engagement in class keeps me entertained, which encourages me to go to class. N/A. I think that she is doing a great job with this course especially since it's her first semester teaching this course. I don't know, I wouldn't change anything. no comment if it weren't for participation points, this class might as well be an online course...not bad right? She's great, I don't know any improvements she can make but to maintain her style of teaching and keep up the way she is! Although this was her first semester teaching this course, I felt as if she had been teaching this class forever! She was always efficient and always enthusiastic teaching. I looked forward to coming to this class every morning. If I had a problem or any concerns about ANYTHING, Prof. Bopp would be more than willing to listen and will do her best to accommodate my needs. N/A n/a I genuinely feel that she doesnt need to. The lectures and her explanations helped a lot, especially for those challenged by scientific terms. Awesome professor! But, the course material was great and interesting as well. Studying sexism Guest speakers, the instructor's interest in the subject. I liked all of the course, but particually thought learning about pregnancy was really interesting. In most of my other classes, we're taught to believe that the textbook is always right, but I liked how in this class, we were constantly analyzing the biases in the text. Lecture was always interesting to go to and the lectures helped make the readings more interesting. Lectures, Video, class participation, guest speakers. The slides and the class discussions on the topics. As well as the informational movies/clips. Everything, lectures were great and not boring, very engaging. Having guest speakers were also great. I liked the discussion posts we did on Laulima as well. I liked the material we covered in the course and the readings we did, not from the text. That she assisted us with exam study guides and was clear about the material being covered All I liked the powerpoints. They were clear and neat with great pictures. 1. good classroom environment for discussion 2. presentation of material. she made it easy to follow and relate to. 3. the online discussions are perfect for keeping me thinking critically about course material. She makes reproductive biology fun. her humor and added feminist perspective that differed from the book EVERYTHING! She taught this class in a way that made me UNDERSTAND the concepts instead of just knowing and memorizing. The instructor and her expert use of available technology to make material interesting and clear. The speakers she was able to bring into the course really helped bring some of what we were learning into real life. Guest speakers, videos, and Professor Bopp's own experiences that were related to the course. The different topics that were discussed and the presentations/visuals. She had an excellent, diverse group of guest speakers which helped to personalize and humanize the course content. I also felt that the instructor's approach to teaching made a definite positive contribution to how much was learned. She engages with her students in a very egalitarian way with candidness, honesty, experiential validity, integrity, and so much intuition. All of it. from speakers, movies, poems, readings, and power points all well thought out and all done with such expertise. She's very fair and really made the subject enjoyable. She makes you really want to learn. I liked the social things I learned about the topics covered in this class. I also liked that the things I was learning about are things that I can notice in everyday life. It broadened my understanding of women and sexism in the world, as well as other forms of social stereotypes and discrimination. I enjoyed learning about every single topic that we went discussed. I also think that Jayne Bopp is a fantastic teacher, I've taken a previous course from her and was excited to see she was teaching this one, in fact, I added 2 electives so I could drop the which ever one was harder and I had intended to drop this class until I saw her on the first day of class. I have never been good at sciences but she made the science aspects of this class a lot more relevant to me so it was much easier for me to understand. I also enjoyed and much appreciated all of the speakers that she had come in to talk to us. Lectures I enjoyed having the discussion posts. Since the class is large it enabled me to expand on my own ideas, although she may not be able to put a face to my name, I at least get to have my point of view explained. How all her lectures are on powerpoints and easy to access on Laulima if I missed class. Also the guest speakers she brought in were very informative in learning the material she covered in class. I enjoyed everything that we learned in the class. It was informative and I learned a lot of different things that I would not have thought that I would have learned in a women studies course. Professor Bopp really opened my eyes to the biology of the brain gender and helped me to appreciate the differences that are found in LGTI. The videos and guest speakers were awesome and really broadened my mind and challenged my prior stereotypes. I felt the textbook was kind of useless, unless it was used to critically analyze for feminist purposes. Look at number 20. Look at number 20. Tired of retyping. This course was great!! None Maybe by giving more specific details on topics, relating the issues more with Hawaii and its people. Possible have students write a paper. Great how it is! I like how Sex Differences in the Lifestyle covers a range of things in a more college setting that sorta continues from high school on certain subjects. I don't know what could be improved about it I can't think of anything. It would of helped more if the syllabus was a bit more detailed. If there were focus groups in a class that size it would also help as far as getting other points of view on the topics. This class taken with this instructor could be improved through limiting the class size and instead of having a lecture format, have a class that allows for more discussion of material in a seminar format. There really isn't much that she could've done to make the class any better than it was. I think it would be better if there were things to keep students on track. It's easy to neglect the work outside of class when there isn't much. There isn't much that needs improvement. The course was very well thought out and it seemed like she put a lot of effort into it. I can't think of anything negative to say. Nothing, I really enjoyed the class. Not having it so early in the morning. n/a I wouldn't change anything no comment none. I think this course is good the way it is. It highlights many different important aspects of human reproduction issues. Some of those images from the STI lecture are going to give me nightmares forever. They are permanently burned under my eyelids, and I will never be able to unsee them. professor is really cool! I loved this course and the professor. I will definietly recommend this class to everyone! Love this class! This was one of my favorite classes of the semester and I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to take it. Patricia Bopp is an amazingly enthusiastic teacher that makes coming to class fun and makes you want to learn. Overall the course was good. Very balanced. even though its early i find myself trying to get to the class even if im late Great teacher and great material! Great course! Before I take this course, I had no idea about materials and contents of this course actually. Honestly, I just chose the course that fits to my schedule. However, this class was the best class ever. I like Patricia's reviews of the readings and also er guest speakers! I really like the message board, wow so many heart felt experiences were shared, this class felt like family almst to me:) the discussion points an donline lectures Everything was great. The structure of the course - nothing was a surprise. We knew what was done, when it was due and what was expected from us. I also loved that included personal interviews to supplement our readings for the week. I found the course interesting and educational. The organization of the discussion board was easy to use and allowed everyone to "talk" to each other effectively. Very interesting readings. Good emphasis on analysis versus personal feelings on part of the work and personal reflections on another part, good mix. Class discussion posts I enjoyed the online class discussions. A lot of the reading was interesting also. All in all, I learned quite a bit in this class and would recommend it to all students. The course material was really great, they touched upon so many issues that we can relate to, which in turn helped us to understand the material better. The lectures, readings, interviews, etc, were all interesting. I love how open we could be in this class. We still respected each other's opinions, but I was never afraid to share my own experiences. I think it could be that I wrote down my thoughts rather than having to voice them, which can be hard concerning with family issues. I absolutely loved all the course readings. I found them to be interesting, insightful, and touching. I definitely grew from this class, not only by its content, but also from everyone in class.

maybe have one week of open dialect on the discussion board after an impactful reading/lecture. See where it takes them. I enjoyed every aspect of this course. Nothing needs to be improved. I liked the course and don't see any need for change not having assignments every week, include weekly quizzes I don't think there's anything lacking or in need of improvement in this class. It is obvious a great deal of thought was put into Ms. Bopp's preparation. She is always prompt when responding to e-mail and encourages communication at all times. None.
