18. What did you like most about your online course experience?
I liked the forums because we could post our work when it was convient for us and we could read our classmates work or suggestions. This really helped when trying to put together our paper. Dr. Iding was also very good about her feedback. She was positive and concise.
I liked the idea of pacing myself through the course. I was also able to get feedback for my work as well as get help from my peers. I also enjoyed being able to attend class from the comfort of my own home. The use of technology was also a positive aspect of the course. It gave me an idea of how to use programs such as skype and elluminate.
This was actually my 2nd online course and I felt that it was a success. I really enjoyed the smooth flow of assignments posted on the forums and the constant communication and feedback not only from the instructor but the class as a whole. She was also available by e-mail and skype which made it very easy to contact her for questions. She replied quickly as well. I really enjoyed this class. Thank you Dr. Iding!
Being able to manage time to post work, but being left in the dark is something else. Coding for example was one concept the instructor just threw out without any kind of discussion. I had to read a lot and ask a lot to make sure I was doing this task properly. I also like the students' contributions to the forum, but a lot of the times students just responded to fill that gap, but no quality conversation-like interactions. I wish you would ask me about the flaws of the course. As a new student in the program, I had a really tough time in class. Not only I had to learn the technology part, but I had to make sure to update my work with the understanding that concepts would be clarified, let alone, depend on the instructor's responses as a basis for doing work and be on the right track. Unfortunately for me, I had to do a lot of extra reading to make sure I was on the right track with a lot of the concepts.
It was hard to balance everything, but it was a good experience. I believe it is harder than a regular class. It gave us the time to be able to do things on our own schedule.
Flexible hours to work on assignments. And could comment on classmates assignments and would respond if I dont understand and everyone especially the teacher will respond back for assistance.
I finally have a taste of online courses. It's a great way of learning because we're tired of attending active live classes as we always do in the past. But the online course provide us with great amount of time to edit assignments and share experiences to the subject.
I thoroughly enjoyed the independent time allowance to complete work and then post my ideas, the ability to view other views of peers and be able to construct ideas or build on and the freedom that I have had to continue the class at the my home, it is such a convenience.
I liked this online course experience because I could work on my assignments at any available time. When I was free and a computer was available I would get on and start going into the laulima for assignments and then I would try my best to complete it. And I would get comments from Marie whether my assignment was okay or not once I sent it. It was also good to have students respond to each other on assignments.
Being that this was my first online course and my instructor's first experience with an online course as well (from my understanding), I felt we all learned alot. I learned what works for me in terms of taking an online course - what to look for in future classes. Overall, it was a good experience and I look forward to taking classes via online in the future.
It was convenient for me because I had access to an office and home computer. Also, the time was flexible in that we didn't meet on a specific time of the day on most of the activities, but everyone was afforded the chance to post their assignments on their own available and convenient time during the day, after work, and at night time.
Collaboration with other teaching colleagues. Has expanded my view as a researcher in education. Got so many ideas as to how to approach a topic and make it come to life!
19. Which aspects of the course did you like the best?
The forums
The best thing about this course is the use of different technological tools. I enjoyed the use of forums to post assignments and get feedback from the instructor as well as my peers. The instructor was also very helpful in making sure to respond and provide great feedback on my work.
I really liked the text because it was very helpful throughout the whole course. It was a good resource considering the course being online. I also really enjoyed the assignments and practice we were given step by step before turning in our final.
My determination to learnn the materials. -getting a taste of the research world. It won't be easy if this is how it's taught. -learning how to open Laulima and the technology-affiliated world -being able to share with other student via forums -the non-threatening environment -just the opportunity to learn and make progress
I liked the part with the critiques of the articles and looking for the articles. It gave me more experience with searching for resources.
Flexible hours to finish assignments.
I adore the feedback from the students. I have the chance to reflect, criticize, and comments on who I want. The students will read through my word and do the same thing. So sharing ideas and thoughts will lead us to success.
Forums. This was a first for me and I enjoyed the manner in which we shared our opinions and perspectives.
It helped me with preparing for my plan B paper. It helped me think and guide me with the different steps to writing my paper.
The flexibility really helped me. Because of my own home life and workload, it was quite a challenge. But the design of the course and the flesibility of the instructor really helped me achieve the objective of the class.
Helped me in the development of my Plan B Paper/Thesis. I also enjoyed the different discussions that the instructor prompted on Laulima. These discussion allowed me to reflect on my teaching practice as well as inspiring me to utilize my critical thinking skills and teaching experience. This online course has motivated me to enroll in another web-based course in the future. I like the teacher, very active and energetic. Dr. Iding is an honest, helpful and a caring professor.
Time! I can go to school and come back and read, edit and add on to existing work. The use of Elluminate and Skype was great. I need to master these two technology resources.
